Great location in central Manchester perfect if you like Canal Street. Usual high standard from this chain of Hotels. Only criticism would de not enough heat in the room. Only a small radiator and Air Con blew out cool air even at 32 degrees

We spent all of 8 hours in the hotel, that was for a sleep. Other than a quirky entrance for reception (not easy for some with heavy baggage) all was well. Breakfast at £15.50each a tad expensive

Bathrooms very dark.

Staff are friendly and location is great. The Manchester free shuttle has a bus stop right outside the hotel. Room amenities are everthing I want: free wifi, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, shower cap, power shower, bath with detachable shower head, beakers, tea and coffee and biscuit, comfy bed, iron and ironing board, hangers with trouser pegs. The only complaint is that my room is right next to the lift lobby and is a bit noisy.

Awake all night by this nightclub that seems to be underneatht he hotel. Rang down to reception to complain but said they could do nothing only swap our room (this was at 2am and we were in bed so weren't really in teh mood to get up and move!) Would definately recommend the Premier Inn on the same street for half the price and same comforts.

All in all a good hotel the location in the centre of Godmanchester was excellent and hotel staff were also excellent but i was a bit disappointed with the Excecutive suite as it was just 2 single beds pushed together and that is always a let down and my wife and i travel to different hotels alot for one or two night experiences.

We booked this hotel for a birthday mini break, parked at the nearby Qpark for discounted parking. Friendly staff and nicely designed rooms. Great central location quick drink at Browns and then meal at Hard Rock Cafe. Back to hotel bar for at 1am for nice relaxed atmosphere and Irish coffees! Would definitely reccommend!

The hotel was of a really high standard. the room i had however was overlooking the main road which was a little busy. noise from Canal St could be heard just around the corner. despite that, the room was very nice, lovely bathroom and excellent location. The price was difficult to beat too.

Excellent staff, great room. Very clean, well-stocked (plenty of teabags, coffee, milk etc.). Fantastic bathroom design. The whole room was very well decorated, contemporary, clean, welcoming. The hotel is on the corner, a few minutes' walk to Piccadilly Gardens and the shops at the Arndale Centre, and 10 minutes' walk to Manchester Picadilly train station. It's also right up the road from Canal Street for its many bars and great nightlife. The only complaint I would have is that the room service breakfast doesn't say anywhere that the charge is per person, which was a bit of a shock when we came to check-out and pay! Overall though, I would definitely stay here again.

i have stayed in the Hotel before and it was as good this time as it was before The rooms are very good and well appointed Having WiFi is a bonus The location is pretty central for Manchester Town Centre and all of its attractions The only downside was that Breakfast is very expensive - there are lots of other options nearby though

We stayed at the MacDonald Townhouse for the first time in March this year. It was a Friday, just one night after a concert. We came back to the hotel about 11pm and afte a couple of drinks in the bar we went to bed. We hardly slept as this hotel is on a main busy road, with a few late bars nearby, chippy and kebab places, and there was so much noise from people in the street all night, and traffic - it sounded like a saturday afternoon! Inside it was very nice and clean, the staff were very pleasant but would not stay again or recommend it. Sorry but have stayed at lots of MacDonald hotels and are always impressed with the high standard, and this is let down badly by its location.

The hotel was fine if hard to locate with poor signs outside. However room 116 was too small and like a sauna. Aircon was useless an no opening window meant we were so hot it was unpleasant. Queen size bed also too small. Other rooms may be better but we were disappointed.

found the hotel eventually, walked past it twice, as signed the princess on portland, if you look up small stickers in window saying macdonald townhouse, i asked reception about this and they claimed were having trouble with the council getting it changed, reption did apologise lots, as they get it often i think, checked in, and room didnt have a bath (my preference) , stated rooms did, i rang reception and they changed it to a really nice room with bath, and service in bar was great and barman was really helpful, all in all now i can finfd it i would stay again, only 10 min walk from picadilly,

a great weekend was enjoyed hear at this fab hotel. the location was perfect for our needs and the staff bent over backwards to make it a very enjoyable time.highly recomended

Conveniently placed hotel in Manchester city centre, but we stayed on a Friday night and found it hard to sleep due to the noise on the street, the nearby nightclubs stay open late and our room felt like it was right outside! Followed by the bin men a couple of hours later, this was a very unsettled stay! When mentioned to reception they advised to request a room on the 'quiet side' of the hotel! Wouldn't recommend if you need a restful night!

we were driving up and down the road for about two and a half hours looking for the McDonald Hotel Portland Street, we couldnt find it as another hotel sign was on the front of the hotel, saying Alexander, so we werent very relaxed on arrival, we were up-graded to another suite. Although the hotel is very nice I dont think i would book it again as it wasted half our night, plus i didnt have time to have a shower for dinner as we were running so late.

Had an executive double with a really good rate. Room was gorgeous and clean, but would have thought it would have been bigger being executive, not sure what size normal rooms would have been. Bathroom amazing, monsoon shower and seperate bath. Lights in room quite dull but not the end of the world. Managed to find hotel okay but only because previous reviews informed us that the sign outside still says Princess on portland so knew to look for it. Staff really friendly, really good location, 10 min walk (if that) to arndale and printworks. Would return.

Entrance not signposted McDonald Hotel, but has a different sign. We found it due to the street number. Once we found hotel, nice hotel. Room we had was overlooking Portland Road, so noisy even on the 3rd Floor (traffic noise). This aside, the room was nice, the bathroom decor and power shower 1st class. One of the nicest hotel bathrooms weve seen. Handy for theatre, bars and shoping. A little expensive per night as you dont get breakfast, but there is a Wetherspoons and Yates nearby where you can get full breakfast. Overall, a good hotel and would stay again.

Hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendley. would reccomend the hotel for a shopping trip but just try get a room at the front of the hotel as its a bit back in the back rooms, but it was good for sleeping !.

a few minutes walk from centre of manchester plenty to do and see.Hotel is perfect in every way

we were told to park in the piazza by reservation staff, which was helpful. They did not tell us however, that there is no signage on the hotel as yet. in the dark and the rain, looking for a hotel without a sign was not a great experience. Once found, the hotel was clean, comfortable with really nice toiletries, lavender and tea tree, and after a hot bath, all was forgiven.

Nice spot bang in centre of Manchester & suprisisngly affordable nonetheless. Right next to Chinatown district. Ideal for short break or overnight stop for a night out there. Note to hotel - GET A SIGN PUT UP ON PORTLAND ST side - its a nightmare to find !

The best hotel I've stayed in in Manchester by quite some margin. Thoughtful additions in the room, lovely clean and well designed rooms and lounge areas. Really enjoyed the stay and as a regular visitor to Manchester, will be stopping here again!

Nice hotel in a good location which we stayed in for one night in Oct 11. We were going to the MEN arena which was a 10-15 minute walk away. The hotel was recently refurbished and the staff were very helpful, checking us in despite us arriving two hours early. Only minor complaint was that as our room was on the top floor the water pressure in the shower was poor, and at times the water flow stopped completely for a few seconds. Other than that, great hotel and would use again.

We had an excellent four nights at your hotel,however one gentleman on reception was not that helpful to our enquiries.

We stayed for a second time at the end of september. We think this is an excellent hotel. The staff are great and the comfort of the beds is second to none. We will definitely return.

overall hotel was clean but tv in room didnt work and the shower flooded the bathroom floor when telling a member of staff wasnt very helpfull said they would look at problem wen i returned to room tv still didnt work and towels had been put on the bathroom floor!! also on arrival to the hotel we really struggled to find it the hotel had changed its name and they hadnt let us no !!

Very comfortable, courteous staff. Difficult to find however, as no obvious signs on outside of building - taxi driver had not heard of it.

Great hotel for central Manchester. Newly renovated and with an excellent bistro.

The hotel was lovely I would definitely stay again, although would probably request a room away from the main road as it was quite noisy through the night/ morning with the traffic.

Overall this was a very good experience We had 2 standard rooms for 1 night, both of which were well decorated & well appointed, having an in-room safe, iron & ironing board in the wardrobe (fantastic- no dated trouser press!!) & haidryer (good quality, salon style), mini toiletries in the bathroom, more than adequate. My room had a small shower room & although it wasn't a problem, 2 of the lights were out, external corridors were also in the process of being renovated. Maybe it was because we had standard rooms, but I was slightly disappointed after reading some of the previous reviews. No sign of the mini bar, biscuits, luxury tolietries or rain forest shower & marble bathroom. As we got a very good price, I'd definitely upgrade next time! The location ws very good, close enough to Piccadilly Station to walk, close to all shops & amenities, it was also surrounded by bars & restaurants, I didn't find the noise overwhelming either. All staff we encountered were friendly, polite & happy to help, nothing was too much trouble. One final point- congratulations to the people & businesses of Manchester for recovering so well from the riots that week- there were few signs & local people seemed to be out supporting the city. The police were understandably out in force, though mainly on foot patrol, & were approchable & stopping to chat with locals & tourists alike- a great response & very reassuring! We'll definitely be back & would consider the MacDonalds Townhouse- depending on the price!

Excellent hotel and excellent service, especially for what one pays. Beautifully renovated rooms. The staff actually respected the "do not disturb sign" and deposited a pile of towels and refills for coffee etc in front of the door - this was greatly appreciated. Many good restaurants (mostly asian) and pubs in the area.

What a find! We. 4 ladies stayed in this hotel the weekend after the riots and were made to feel very welcome and safe. Customer service here is exemplary,nothing is too much trouble! Food in bar restaurant good, either for snack or something more substantial. Rooms spacious and very clean. Showers exceptional.Will definitely book again.

the room was very clean and comfy and the service was good, downside is the lighting in the bathroom is so dim it is impossible to get ready and ruined my stay, this really needs to be sorted out! The noise in the middle of the night from guests returning to their room was unbearable as was the noise from the street, managed about 2 hours sleep in total. the breakfast however was of exceptional quality which was a blessing after the awful night spent there. Shame really as it is a lovely looking hotel

Boutique hotel, tasteful, modern & classy. Very friendly staff. Good location for trains/shops etc. Noisy if at the front of the hotel. Would book again.

a very good Hotel , the rooms are great BUT it really needs air conditioning in the general areas , reception , bar and dining room far too hot

we travelled for our daughter's graduation. This hotel was accessible as we had travelled by plane. Car parking was not available so this could be an issue for others.

Small but perfectly formed rooms. Quiet, despite it's central location. Friendly staff and great, great coffees on room service. It backs onto Portland Street, so expect a few "lively" types knocking around the streets during the nighttime. Excellent value, though.

Nice clean comfortable hotel. Rooms well equipped. Worth checking the location of your room as there is a nightclub behind the hotel that you do not want to overlook when it is open. Worth the hotel making you aware of this so that you can opt to change room/upgrade to avoid it.

Was in Manchester for a wedding, and this hotel was ideally located really close to the centre of town. The Hotel itself was perfect really. Comfy bed, spacious room, really good bathroom, good service, and a nice bar downstairs. For £10 more than the Novotel/Ibis just round the corner, I think it was great.
