This is an old hotel in a great location. Room layout was odd but had a good ocean view. Room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned (former occupants coffee filter in coffee maker) and draperies "jury rigged" on track. Desk staff was accommodating enough but not "spot on."

The late shift lady changed my room and offered all the helped I needed to get moved quickly and with no hassle!

The suite had an amazing view of the ocean,and the rocking chairs made for a peaceful relaxing morning. The breakfast downstairs at Marq's offered a large variety of foods. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful location, clean rooms, great ocean view, pleasant professional staff. Would highly recommend a stay!

The suite costs a little more but has lots of extra space and full than a galley kitchenette. During the off season most of the south Jersey shore is abandoned so there is plenty of space on the beach and towels to wrap in while reading your Kindle. The coffee in the room that is provided is top notch. The staff is friendly and this is a hotel we will be staying at again.

Room was decorated nicely and was very clean. Seemed like a little cottage inside..very quaint...light & airy. Enjoyed the deck with the blue rocking chairs. Would definitely stay again !!

Stayed Friday and Saturday night with our dogs. Rooms are very clean and very convienient. I like that there is no carpeting in the room (cleaner when you figure dogs are always staying in the room). This will now be a yearly weekend getaway for us.... I would recommend this hotel. It is in the center of everything. Breakfasts were awesome..... excellent food and even better service. The only issue was with Hotels.com. When we arrived the hotel did not have us booked for a suite that allows dogs. However, the hotel was able to switch us to a suite because one was available. If this was the summer season I am sure this would have been an issue because all of the rooms would have been booked. It

very comfy and cozy hotel. nothing fancy but good value for the price which is what I always look for.

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding in December. The hotel was very nice, close to the beach and I think all the rooms have a small, beach-facing balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was free and ample for area. We are definitely coming back to this hotel for a summer vacation.

Rooms with balconies right on the beach. Rooms a little faded. Could use a sprucing up. Good value. Buy a bottle of wine. Sin on a rocker on the balcony and watch the surf.

The hotel is a bit outdated but it was comfortable and clean. The location is great and the price was decent. The best part of the hotel was the morning breakfast room. The food is great and the staff was very friendly. The restaurant, I will definitely go to again!

Off season rates were too high, needs updating for the area. It has a great location and would be perfect for a makeover!

This hotel was very convenient to most of the attractions in Cape May. It was especially nice to hear the ocean waves at night....and smell the fresh ocean air. I would recommend going on Victorian Week-End so as to see many of the true victorians dress in full garb. A refreshing sight!!!

We stayed at the Mariette De Marquis Hotel for one night on Columbus Day. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our suite. The rooms were very nicely decorated, in the old antiques style. The kitchenette was efficient with everything we needed. The bathroom was well stocked with many plush towels displayed in flower arrangements. But most of all the porch had two comfortable rocking chairs facing the ocean. The staff was very friendly. We were in short walking distance to all the sights and could leave our car in the parking lot. The hotel stay was well worth the price we payed.

Rooms are small, furniture dull, expensive for what it is, though being near the center and near to beach was comforting. Service was OK--restaurant food sub-par.

This 3* hotel is VERY pricey in season. However, the location -- on the beach and near the town center and restaurants -- IS excellent. The room smelled (not awful, but definoitely noticeable). Perhaps because the hotel allows pets? The WIFI was alternately slow or not working. The coffe in the coffee maker, even doubled up, was colored water. The hotel has no computer for guest use, and was unable to provide me with a phone number for Continental Airlines, when WIFI was not working. The shower curtain was ready for a good cleaning.

We stayed in a Cape May Suite which only have two double beds - had wanted a king bed. Decor was dark and depressing - given that these rooms overlook the ocean they should be bright and cheery with pretty decor - not the case. Definitely not good for a romantic getaway and very overpriced. Horrible plastic furniture on the balcony. Wrong choice for us - should have gone to a pretty b&b.

We just got back from a 4 day stay at the Marquis de Lafayette and had a great time. The rooms are old yes, but what isn't in Cape May, that is the point. Rooms were clean and comfortable, hotel is well maintained. The free breakfast was not great and very disorganized and parking a little hard to get sometimes near the hotel but otherwise a great stay and would go back again.

Aside from a small bathroom, the room was very comfortable, with an excellent view of the ocean. The hotel's location is also superb: near to the beach, restaurants, and a walk-around shopping area. We had the package allowing us free breakfasts, which couldn't have been better.. The hotel is clearly trying to buff up its dinner and bar business, but so far the results don't bear out the effort. Once at thirty minutes into the supposed Happy Hour, the large room was entirely empty. Still, our ordered drinks were very good and reasonably priced,.

Hot water went out twice for about two hours each day. Staff offered a spare room for us to shower while waiting. Very nice staff . Will definitely stay again!

This hotel has a great location , and a beautiful view of the atlantic ocean . The swimming pool is a little small but it`s heated , very nice chairs and plenty of pool towels . The hotel room was very clean , they offered everything you need for a enjoyable stay .

Our state was very enjoyable and relaxing. The staff was generally friendly. The breakfast buffet was very good and reasonable. We did feel we were being a little ignored by the staff during our second breakfast meal and thought is might be because we left a tip on the credit card and was not sure the waitresses realized this. They should probably have customers pay after the meal rather than before. While we had no problem with parking since we were there in mid May which is not the prime season, I would think parking would be an issue during the summer when the hotel is full.

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was right across from the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Only spent a brief 8 hours but would definitely return for a vacation.

Great location near the beach. Older property, upgraded OK. Try not to get the x00 rooms, 200,300,400, because balcany right against building and people walking the hallway can see in. Also no window in bedroom suite but great if you want a pitch dark room to sleep in! Location excellent if you want to walk onto the beach. Also walkable to shops and restaurants. Main advantage of choosing is if you need an elevator. Wireless Internet access only available in the fifth floor "lounge" which was frustrating. Maybe could access in room close by if you request. Kitchen was great, included dishes pots/pans though didn't realize that when booking which could have saved some money. Plain breakfast buffett but great breakfast nearby. Hate not having coffee in lobby, bring your own K-cup machine. Tiny balcony, barely could fit two sitting. Pool nice. Staff very helpful.

We could walk to the shopping & dining. Our room had a balcony & view of the ocean. Too early for the pool & on-site restaurant to be open (April) but that would add to the convenience. While the room were small, they were comfortable...even had a little kitchenette.

My BF and I visited Cape May in the off season...so everything was a little slow on customer service. But what else would you expect in a sleepy beach town? the hotel bar seemed a little creepy. And when we tried to get a drink at 9:30pm they told us they were closed. The room had an excellent view and was perfect for our mini trip. Bed was kind of uncomfortable. All in all, it was pretty nice and I would go back.

While a little small, the rooms were clean and nicely furnished. The staff was helpful and plesant. Great view of Cape Mays' Beach and in walking distance of Cape Mays down town shopping area. This was a nice one night stay, I think I would have enjoyed staying longer.

very nice location but room very small you are entering the bedroom no other place to sit small clean bathroom and nook with fidge and coffee maker

Hotel was very quaint & charming. Also, it was very clean for the age of the hotel-was well kept up! Right in the center of Cape May action-if you will-and within walking distance to all major sights/shopping. The view from the room was marvelous. One of the only hotels in Cape May to offer all rooms with a view of the beach. I was here on business in Feb but would definately return in the summer months if I can get a reasonable rate!

clean neat hotel. Included breakfast was a treat and well stocked with omlette station etc large selection of unlimited items. Hotel right across from the ocean and great shops and bars with in easy few block walking distance.

The room was comfortable and roomy enough for 3 for our girls' Cape May getaway. The view from our 5th floor balcony overlooked the ocean and the pool. We enjoyed watching the people and the horse drawn carriages...like stepping back in time. We parked the car and did not have to move it the whole time. A short walk to the Washington St. mall and many good restauraunts.
