Inn of Chicago, an Ascend Collection hotel - شيكاغو

The location could not be better, esp.considering the price. Very friendly and helpful staff at the frontdesk. Rooms are definitely not big (and the bathroom as well), but clean and the beds are very comfortable. Great Lavazza cafe next to the lobby, opened on 6AM for breakfast on weekdays. Very nice roof terrace at the last floor. No free wi-fi in the rooms (lobby only). Surely would stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way from MN to OH. The location was PERFECT! many shops and restaurants close by and the hotel staff knew many places to recommend and were very willing to help! The rooms are pretty small (we had a traditional queen) but comfortable beds and a nice size shower made it perfect for a quick night in the city.. and who goes to Chicago to sit in a hotel room anyways?! We would definitely stay again.

This is in no way a fancy hotel; however, it is clean, comfortable with very helpful staff. My bf and I stayed for 6 nights and we loved the location - right in the midst of Mag Mile and walking distance to all the touristy destinations. I wish we had a microwave/mini fridge in the room but, other than that, it was a very comfortable stay. Note that it can get very loud at night during the weekends - couple of drunks kept knocking on our door at around 2 am and we could hear the people in the next room!

Do not let the photos in their website foul you. Their rooms are small with a tiny window and very very old furniture. We got a broken chair that we can't even sit on in our room. We didn't sleep well. We can hear traffic at night and the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Their staffs were not helpful at all also with no service mind. Even though this hotel is in a good location, don't waste your time here. There are plenty of hotels in this area.

I loved the hotel, everything was great minus the workers. We needed an early check in and they were not helpful at all. And when I asked about check in maybe two times they were extremely rude and seemed annoyed that I asked the question twice. There words exactly "Like I said before check in is not till three" in a very rude manner and tone. No thanks.

Very comfortable, no problems, very clean

This was a good value for the location. The desk clerk was very nice and honored my request for an upper floor in quiet location. Would definitely stay there again.

very good, but the hair dryer was broken and being on the 4th floor we could hear a lot of street noise in the AM.

I had to be switched to another room twice because the beds were worn out and non-supportive. The curtain rod broke from the window when I opened the drapes. The room needed vacuuming. Bathrooms was very tiny. No place to conveniently store sundries except for a small glass shelf above the toilet. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Great location one block away from Michigan Ave in the heart of every attraction and tons of places to go eat and drink and shop..Hotel is an average 3 star hotel clean and safe..perfect and economic for visiting Downtown Chicago for a few days.

Both quiet and in a lively setting, this hotel is great for business travel and tourists.

The terrace is not exactly as I thought, it doesn't even have chairs.

When I booked the hotel, it included free wifi internet however, when I arrived, they now charge a daily rate for access.

Overall not impressed. Busy staff. Advertised free net but not given

I'm always happy to stay here. Clean modern great service.

This hotel is nothing special but it offers reasonably priced accommodation in a very good location (just off the Magnificent mile, close to the the Ohio St. beach, etc.). The staff were fine. Even though we took the contemporary room it was not that contemporary but everything was in reasonable order. The only problem I had with the hotel was the bed. Some very heavy people had been sleeping there, I guess, as I kept falling in the hole in the middle.

We didn't expect the hotel to be as nice as it was for the price but it really was in a fabulous location and the rooms were very comfortable. However, 3 things stood out that we found to be very poor service. 1. Parking was a whopping $48 a night for vallet. It was $38 if you didn't have vallet and did self park but it meant everytime you took the car out you would have to pay the $38 again which is ridiculous in a hotel (why would you even have a car then?). There was no deal or discount they could offer us for our 5 night stay so we had to pay $240 just to have a car there. Internet was also frustrating as it wasnt free in the rooms, only in the lobby. 2. The water in the shower was not hot. It was Luke warm and we had goosebumps in the shower. We asked them to check the water service and they did twice with no resolution. The only way we were able to have a shower was if we turned on the heater in our room prior to having the shower or if one of us held the in house hair dryer on the other person having a shower. Please also note we travelled there in spring so it's not exactly winter conditions, the water was just no where near hot enough. 3. The most important aspect of our rating We arrived home on our second night in a rush to get to a baseball game. Our room key did not work. We went to the lobby and they gave us new keys stating the electromagnetics in our phones may have altered both of our room keys. We went back up and could not get in. We went downstairs again and up to our room a second time. The keys did not work. The elevator very slow so we called from the floor phone. We waited for the security gaurd to come up to help us. He then told us we needed to go down to the lobby to fix up a payment. They had locked us out of our room. We used a visa travel card from Australia which has worked everywhere. We pre paid for our parking with this card. They told us that it had not worked & that we needed to use another credit card. I was furious that

As the title indicates my experience at the Inn of Chicago was overall really great. The only, only complaint I have would be the lack of free wifi (for which I would complain about many hotels and chains). The bathroom did have a whiney/noisy vent system, which was bothersome, but closing the bathroom door at night solved that. Friendly staff, very nicely renovated lobby and overall a great stay in a great location.

Friendly & accomodating staff, adequate facilities. Need to restore no charge wireless in the rooms. Changed their policy April 1st on everybody. Have wireless in the lobby. Just 1 block off Michigan Ave, excellent coffee shop off a nice lobby. Restaurants, shopping, Northwestern Hospital and public transportation very close.

I loved the location, right in the heart of downtown on the Magnificent Mile. BUT. I could hear everything my neighbors were saying, even with normal conversation! I could also hear people walking and talking in the hallway. You do not want to stay at this hotel if you are expecting sleep. They ended up upgrading our room and moving us to a more secluded part of the hotel, but it still did not negate the fact that we had no sleep on night one. Hopefully if you decide to stay at this hotel your experience will be better because there is so much potential, just not enough insulation!

Busy - dirty and old looking - cheap

The location of the Inn of Chicago is fabulous. The hotel rooms are a little small but very clean. The rooftop terrace provides a lovely view of the city as well. I do wish there were vending machines in the hallway. Also, the bar was only open the first night we were there. It was closed all weekend so that was a little disappointing. Other than that, the hotel is a great value for the price. I would definitely reccomend.

I had stayed here before and I loved it. Right now the only thing that it really has going for them is their lower prices and awesome location. At check-in we got the wrong room which was like a college dorm room. To their credit, they fixed it right away. Bathrooms are super small. The Bar was only open one of the 3 nights we stayed there and that was a Monday night. So basically if you are looking for a place to rest your head in a comfortable bed this place is great for that and the location. If you are looking for a friendly staff, any amenities or frills, then this is NOT the place.

I will never stay at this place again. The location is nice 1block from Michigan Ave. The elevators were slow when they were operable. The window view was brick wall & an alley. Was just all around unhappy.

Hotel is located in a great location, but it so small. I got a queen room, and there was barely space to put my large luggage down. I spent 5 days there, and if I'd known how tight it was, I probably would have gone somewhere else that would be more comfortable. Great for short weekend trips with a carry-on and you aren't in the room at all.

Unable to check in until 8PM on the day of our arrival. Room itself was in fair condition. Nothing at all like the online photos. Smelled of cigarettes despite being on a non-smoking floor. Only of 2 of 3 very small elevators were functional. Lots of long waits to get up to/down from room. Frequently took stairs to and from 14th floor room. Location was ideal for our plans, but the hotel itself was a significant letdown. Would not stay there again.

I appreciate the non-smoking hotel, but the rooms are extremely dated. I felt itchy the whole time we were there because it just didn't seem clean. There were no bed bugs (thank God!), but there was mould and unwanted hair in the bathroom. Who knows what was living in the old carpet. Ick! The elevators were also very small and SLOW. The staff were helpful and the location is great, but I would never recommend this hotel due to the condition of the rooms.

Great location- probably one of the best located hotels in Chicago just off the Mag Mile. Hotel was in good condition and room was very clean. Corridor outside room was a little grubby and in need to redocation but noting significant given the price. Agree with comments on the lack of available lifts too. However, for the price this is a great pick and i would highly recommend.

Hotel is close to all the must see of Downtown. Very friendly & helpful staff. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Conveniently located within minutes of Magnificent Mile. Will definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Stumbeled on this little gem. Old style hotel a block from the Magnificant Mile - and for an old style hotel, they have modernized it quite nicely. It has the key "location, location, location" spot tourists look for, and is just wonderful. Couldnt ask for anything more.

Good hotel but not for more than 2 people in a room. We had 3 women and we felt the 2 queen beds were only full size. The bathroom was tiny and had no vent or fan. The place was small but not a big deal really except for the bathroom. It was clean and I felt comfortable there. I donlt spend much time in my rooms when in chicago anyway. The bathroom had a small wall mounted sink...they at least need to put in a counter style sink. Hard to get ready with makeup and stuff. I would stay here again but likely not with more than 2 people total.

The hotel met all my expectations. It is in a great, convenient location and was very affordable. This is not a luxury hotel, so don't come with those expectations, but you will be more than satisfied with the quality and amenities since the purpose for your stay is to be out and about in the great city of Chicago, not locked up in a hotel room.

The hotel's location was great. The room is cleaned everyday and towels replaced daily as well which I loved. The only thing is that the housekeeping staff knocks on your door way too early or at one point had opened the room while we were still sleeping, probably my fault because I didn't hang the do not disturb sign but it's 8 o'clock in the morning! Anyway I do appreciate their effort to make sure the room is cleaned. I booked a contemporary room and got a traditional room instead but not a biggie, I just thought we should get what we booked. Overall, our stay was nice and I would stay there again and would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

This was my first time in Chicago. The hotel was not at all expensive and worth the price. The rooms were kept clean and we felt welcomed from the minute we checked in. The only downside was the parking situation. I understand it was downtown and the cost was going to be high- but we could not come and go as we pleased without paying each time. The bathrooms also needed some updating even though the fixtures looked new- some were loose. Either than minor complaints it was still worth staying there. We loved the fact it was in the middle of everything and steps away from Michigan Ave.
