Staff was over the top helpful. Room clean and neat. Wish there was something other than a deak chair though. Not enough room power outlets.

The decor looks like a 70's pr0n film, in the room and out. My pillows were bedazzled and the lamps were pleather. I found it hilarious, but others might not. My main beef was with the hotel staff... I waited a long time to get checked in and even though my reservation was made well ahead of time, they had to scramble to find a room. Also, I accidentally locked myself out of my room one evening and the man at the front desk was completely unresponsive when I walked up to the desk. I tried to talk to him and stood for 5 minutes and he did not respond or even look at me... just bizarre.

It seemed fine when I got to my room , then had to go the bathroom when I flushed water came out everywhere!! Called downstairs they came an "fixed"it...so I thought till I came back that night an wouldn't flush again ! Also a fuse blew in my room as I was getting ready! Took 20 min for soMeone to come up an fix the toilet an electricity . I told them to leave the plunger because I knew I would need again . Everytime had to use the pluger for the toilet to flush!!!! They also don't have blackout shades so be ready to be up early! Will Never stay there again!

While this hotel is perfectly located for exploring all that NYC has to offer, many of the rooms directly face a large building under construction. At night the flood lights make your room incredibly bright, and the noise is very hard to ignore. When booking definitely clarify that you do not want a room that faces W. 54th st. You will be glad you did...

Rooms are cramped. I had (2) different rooms because the first night they put me in a room with nothing over the window except plastic blinds that were too narrow by 12inches and too short by 2 feet. With a construction site across the street with very bright lights. The staff was accommodating about changing rooms, but why would you ever put someone in a room like that. I don't think i will be going back to this hotel (note that I have stayed here before and the experience was good, but this was so bad I don't want to give them another chance.

Great hotel and amazing location. Right in the hart of broadway. Very small room but it was nice, clean, and modern.

My room was the size of a shoebox. Also -- the front desk staff talked about me while I was standing right in front of them. They almost charged my credit card twice, someone had to intervene to fix the charge. The person with my card admitted "she didn't know what she was doing" which is not a reassuring thing to say in front of a customer. Another front desk person told a man who was inquiring about the last room available that he could "take it or leave it at $290". She was very rude to him, he didn't take the room.

this is a nice small chic hotel close to all you want to see in times square/central park area, staff was very helpful and friendly, a coffee maker in the room would have been nice but not a deal breaker, we will go back and recommend it.

The hotel is being renovated so I would assume that the management would place you in room that are not so close to the work and workers. NOT. Also, my room was on top of the air conditioner/heater compressor and very loud. Had hard time resting and sleeping. Talked to front desk but not assistance was extended to me. I guess customer service has not reached their training manuals. Oh well. NOT to be repeated again. It looked and sounded good online but very disappointed.

I stayed at this hotel about 4 years ago, then returned just last weekend. I was eager to see the newly re-modeled hotel. I loved the modern updated look! It's in a great location. Not far from Central Park or Hell's Kitchen. It's real close to my favorite brunch/lunch spot called the EATERY on 53rd and 9th AV. Enjoy!

This was a great hotel. The staff was friendly, and rooms were clean. The location is unbeatable, around the corner from The Late Show with Dave Letterman!

I was hesitant to book at this hotel b/c I read poor interviews, but I took a chance anyway...and I'm so glad I did. The room was clean, nice bathroom, flat screen TV. I would recommend using earplugs at night, but otherwise a good hotel if you get it for a discounted rate. Parking garage offers a special rate and less than one block away so you have to drop your luggage, then go park the car. This hotel was in a prime location only 5 blocks from Times Square. Also, a Whole Foods was around the corner on 60th street so I went there for hot, fresh breakfast and snacks.

Hotel was so close to Times Square, Theaters, 5th Ave and lots of great resturants and 4 blocks to central park. There is a subway station close by as well. The room was small and it would be hard to stay there with more than 2 people, but my husband and I were ok. Very quiet room. Our only complaint (and it isn't much) is that the room was warm and the lights in the room were kind of difficult to work, but once we figured them out- it was ok. I would stay here again and highly recommend it.

Staff was exceptionally helpful, we were able to check in early and had our check out time extended as well. Rooms were clean and modern. Lobby was cheerful, with a breakfast bar by day and an adult bar by night. On our last day, our bags were held for no charge while we enjoyed one last lunch in the "Big Apple" before our flight home.

The hotel has been renovated so the rooms are fresh and modern. Of course the rooms are on the small side but it is NY after all and they are fie for 2 people. Hotel is a short walk to Times Square or Columbus Circle and subway drops. Both the front desk and the bellhops were extrememly friendy and helpful.

The hotel was right in the theatre district, just two blocks from the Gershwin Theatre. Was also close to a number of great places to eat. The actual room was small, but perfect for a short stay in New York, who spends the day in their room anyway! The hotel has been renovated, so everything was great quality. If only the room had come with a small coffee maker and complimentary coffee, it would have been perfect.

We (2 adult, 1 child) stayed at Ameritania one night. The room was good sized esp. for NYC. Furnishings were new and very nice. Location was great in midtown. Could not beat the price. Would definatley use this spot again.

Could not imagine a better location, close to some of the major NY sites. Only a few blocks away from MOMA, a few blocks away from the bars and restaurants of Hell's Kitchen, a few blocks away from Central Park, a few blocks away from the shopping of 5th avenue, and a few blocks away from Times Square. Very sleek, modern vibe to the lobby and rooms. Very, very satisfied with my stay.

If you're looking for a great location and price point in NY, don't look any further. I've stayed at my fair share of hotels in NY and this one is by far the best. The rooms may be a little bit small, but for the purpose of leaving your bag and sleeping, I think it's perfectly sized. It has a modern flair which is nice and not too overdone. I myself being a more traditional person when it comes to decorating loved this hotel. Again, the location right on Broadway and a couple blocks from Times Square and great restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner couldn't be any better. I would stay again!

An excellent place to stay, the room and en-suite shower was very impressive. Newly decorated and very modern and clean. I took my 13 year old daughter with me ( teenagers are hard to impress), however my daughter was thrilled. Staff were very happy to help, we had a great stay.I have already referred this hotel .

The location is great - right near the heart of Times Square. But it's down hill from there. The hotel is dirty, the rooms, despite being renovated, have old mattresses, old towels (which you may not need anyway - read on) and a smell that says "moth balls." After Checking in I went to take a shower before joining my friends at a local restaurant but surprise - there was no water in the hotel that night. When I called the front desk the manager snapped at me and said "there has been literature for 2 days stating that we will not have water here tonight." when I asked why it wasn't brought to my attention at check in OR when I made the reservation he simply hung up on me. Never have I been treated as poorly as I was at the Ameritania. I would not recommend wasting your money at this property.

Very good location close to Time Sq. Room is small but nice and clean. Overall good stay for the cost.

The hotel has been recently renovated, and the rooms are well appointed. However, I had requested a queen size bed and was not given one. They are currently building a new office tower across the street from the hotel on W. 54th and if your room faces that side of the building you WILL definitely be awakened at 7:00 am when the jack hammers and construction begins. I understand the building should be finished in 2013.

The location was perfect! Step outside of the lobby and Time Square is just around the corner. The rooms are small but the price (considering you're in Times Square district ) can't be beat. We'll be back!

Took a bit of a flyer on this hotel. Got a great rate so was a little skeptical. Turned out to be a great choice. King Bed, completely remodeled room, walk-in shower, very modern decor. I would highly recommend the deluxe room for any business traveler. For tourists, this hotel is attached to the same building as the Ed Sullivan Theatre - David Letterman show, and Broadway shows are very near.

Great location, Great price, the standard room is a little small but it really is a great hotel. 5 STARS

I was going to stay in Chelsea, but the rates and hotels there were not half as nice as this one. The staff were quite helpful and ready to take care of my needs. The bed was wonderful. I want to know the name of that mattress maker for my next bed. It was very firm while having a soft top. The only drawback is that they were doing major construction of 2 new skyscrapers across the street, so either ask for a side room or ask to be on a high floor to keep the noise to a minimum. The noise begins between 7 and 8am.

doormen are kind and helpful. the room needed new windows. they had done a complete restoration-renovation of the rooms yet forgetting to put new windows. The old ones let in noise, cold air, didn't close properly. the construction there is a nightmare. ask for a back room away from the street, high above, but then you'll be waiting for minutes on end for the slow elevators to make it up. it was cheap. it was located perfectly. it lacked proper over-viewing management. but they did their best to make my stay pleasant. there is no better hotel I found for that price. I will return.

I took my daughter to New York for her thirteenth birthday, so she could see Phantom on Broadway. We stayed at the Ameritania, and thought it was wonderful! The hotel was right in the theater district, and adjacent to time square. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. I have already recommended the hotel to others and will continue to do so. I will definitely be a returning customer!

PROS- AMAZING location close to times square, good sized room, friendly staff CONS- in the bathroom you could only have the fan and the light on at the same time, i had to shower in the dark because it was too cold with the light and fan together, NO FREE WI-FI it was $10 for 24 hours that was really UNIMPRESSIVE the middle lamp in between the beds did not work my mom thought that the room was quite dark

Their computer systems are messed up. The room I booked was a two double bed. They have me a single double bed. I had a lot of time wasted in trying to have them understand this. This fault was their computer system they said and they had not other room where my children could sleep. The extra bed they gave was tiny and not in a condition that any one could use. The 2nd day onwards was fine......in the sense of the room. The other problem, 3 different people in the hotel bell, front and staff gave us 3 different answers about their breakfast times.

Let me just start and say we are not people that expect much . We understand things can get messed up sometimes so we are understanding of mistakes but I felt like the Ameritania was not trying at all . To start we arrive at 4:30p for a 3:00 check in and our rooms were not ready along with about 5 other couples seeming quite upset that it was taking so long to get our rooms . After waiting till 5:00 to get our room we made our way to the really slow and stained floored elevator . Our floor had heavy fumes of paint . Our rooms were nice and clean but small ( even though a deluxe ) . After being in the room 3 minutes a random engineering worker opens and enter our room claiming "he was looking for the wi-fi" . In the morning they had a basic continental breakfast in the lobby , which we were asked for our room number . We ate in the lobby, but when we went to see the dining room there was a small sign off to the left side headed Contenental breakfast. Then below in literally fine print 10.00 per person . We got the charge taken off after complainging but i dont think most hotel guest saw the sign . Then on the way back to our room at 9:30am the housekeeper yelled down the hall what time are you checking out? You don't know what time you're checking out? This was a first for all 3 of us.

The hotel is within walking distance of nearly everything you need to be by. The area is pretty safe, just be wary if you have children, we did pull up beside some shady characters. The hotel staff were all friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The room was small - duh, it's New York. But the bed was extremely comfortable. One issue we had was that the windows are VERY thin and there were two construction sites across from us, they would start around five in the morning every day. I would just recommend ear plugs. Otherwise, it was clean, well kept, recently renovated and safe. It was a pleasant stay, and we ended up spending the first night we arrived just in the hotel eating pizza. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who wants to be close to everything in the city.

It was an overnight stay for me and my husband. Pretty much as I expected based on reviews I read. I was disappointed with room. We were told we had a king bed but it turned out to be a king bed platform with a queen mattress. We kept hitting corners, painful. Pillows were awefull and tv remote and phone did not work. 1 day ok but would not do more than that. Staff nice..

We were in New York from 12/25 through 12/31. We stayed at the Hampton Inn on 8th Ave for the first three nights, and at Ameritania the last three nights. The reason we switched to the Ameritania is because our plans to visit some friends in NJ fell through, and the rates at the Hampton were going way up. I wish we would have found the Ameritania earlier and stayed there the whole trip. The Ameritania rates were one-half the cheapest nights at the Hampton Inn, and were one-third the expensive nights. The Ameritania was just as nice, more convenient, and the staff was wonderful. The Ameritania provided a great experience. The door men/bell hops were wonderful - they interacted well with our kids, joked with them making it fun, and even learned their names by the second day. They were very helpful with information and excellent local restaurants. I cannot say enough good things about how welcome they made us feel. The door men also suggested how to easily get out of Times Square to JFK on New Year's Eve. They arranged a car service, which charged less than the taxi cab that brought us from JFK into the city (I paid the commission rate but it was still expensive with the tolls). I only mention this because others have posted negative comments about the car service suggestion by the door men. As expected, the car service was a much nicer vehicle and clean. The driver was a native New Yorker, spoke English, helped with luggage, and took local roads through Queens to get from Times Square to JFK in about 35 minutes in a mess of traffic (all things that the taxi driver was not able to do). On top of it all, the car service driver was blown away when I paid him the same as what the taxi driver got for the trip in. In the end, the stay at Ameritania made the whole trip a great experience and visit to NYC.

So we stayed at Ameritania during new years eve and couple of days more...it was just perfect:) the location of the hotel was the best! 5min walking distance from Times Square and Central Park. The hotel's staff was really helpful and supportive. (kind doormen & great bartender) Our favorite doorman was Mourad:) We got a lot of help from him! They had a really good service...from beginning till the end. We would like to go back NYC asap! We had just a great time...and we will pick that hotel again!!!

A cute boutique hôtel. it is unfortunate that the renovations they are doing are not of the best quality. I was in two rooms. They moved me from my original room as the renovation noises were unbearable in in the first room. They even offered to help me move my luggage. Both of the rooms looked great, although they claimed the first room had a king sized bed and it was not. Hopefully the management will do a very though review of the workman ship before the renovation is complete. The carpets were not layer well, bubbling up and no fill well in door ways. All of the bathroom fixtures were loose. Overall the staff tried to be very helpful and the hotel is trying to make the place look great. I think the owners are lucky to have such dedicated employees. Just seems like they need to step in to insure the contractors fix the discrepancies in their work. Really an amazing location for the price.

The Ameritania is a great find centrally located near all the happenings in New York. Time Square, Broadway, and David Letterman's Studio minutes away. Many choices of eateries and you can walk to all the sights and sounds in a New York minute! Awesome Awesome Great Rate! LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!
