Tiny room at a decent price. Loud air fan. Good location. Very clean. A little noisy with hard wood corridors.

Look, the hotel is clean and convenient to many of the attractions on the Upper West Side. That said, the rooms are shoe-boxes (I could almost reach both side walls with my arms laying on my bed and there must have been at most two feet between the end of the bed and the wall where there doors for the bathroom (also quite tiny and a bit difficult to navigate) and the closet). Further, the hallways are very narrow. And neither the rooms nor the hallways are carpeted, so you hear everything (including some concert outside that seemed to be going on until 2 AM one night). Not for me after a hard day of work in the city. However, if I was a frugal (student?) traveler coming to NYC, I probably wouldn't mind much.

Ok, here goes. This place is terrible. No matter what anyone else says, beware! The room was smaller than my bathroom. It was so small and so noisy that my wife finally said, id rather drive home, and about 6AM, that is just what we did. Noisy halls, elevators, some freaking buzzing sound about every 20 minutes or so. Doors slamming, and every other noise you could imagine, all night long. We also heard no street noise, just hotel noise. Please do yourself a favor! Be afraid. Be very afraid. Don't stay here.

Room was basic but very clean and comfortable and well serviced. No luxuries - no restaurant etc and no interaction from staff, but it was just what I needed - very good price and great location. And free wifi. Would definitely use it again.

Hotel rooms basic and small but clean. Good location, close to subway station. Hotel staff were pleasant. Good overall.

The rooms are very small. Nothing bigger than a double bed would actually fit, BUT the room was very clean. If you are looking for lots of amenities, this is not the place, but it is in a very safe neighborhood and very affordable compared to other hotels in NYC. My only complaint is that the hardwood floors, while beautiful, are very noisy when someone is walking down the hall in stilettos or in the room above you at 3 a.m.

I was looking for an overnight accommodation. It was just what I needed. I found the price a bit high compared with equivalent in Europe. But this is New York.

Reasonable price, great location, very clean, but without a doubt one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in.

Clean, smoll room in the great part of New York with meny good restorants and 7 min walking distance to the Central Park. Good price but not so much light in the room. It has a window with a wiew to the next building. Not breakfast serving. Generally not bad for the price.

A very small room (I guess standard in NY) but clean, friendly staff and very well located. You won't find much better for the price!

- Rooms are extremely small. It's not a hotel for a couple's romantic weekend, but perfect for a business trip. - They held my luggage after I checked out, so if you go on a business trip and decide to hang out a bit more later that is definitely a good hotel to go. - The neighbor brazilian restaurant Brazil Brazil Grill was pretty good! Loved their sangria and steaks. - Minutes away from times square, and steps away from the metro and central park.

Having stayed at a hotel nearby I can give a better comparative. The Hotel Belnord has been recently renovated and the rooms are nicely finished, very clean and such, compared to another in the zone. The biggest problem/surprise was the tiny room size, about 7ft x 10ft, plus a small bathroom. Water pressure was great. Reception was helpful though slow processing check-in and check-out due to the fact there was only one receptionist receiving calls, etc. Reception are was large and clean. Good location near subway, shops and restaurants abound in the area. Overall very good, though the room`s size makes it a bit difficult for two to move around with luggage and such.

Very small rooms, but large enough. Very clean room. Attentive staff. Great location -- one block from subway stop. Will definitely stay here on return trips!

parking a pain but not unmanageable. The prox to Central park and restaurants is fabulous. The room was very small but workabble for a cheap vacation to the city :)

made it impossible to sleep through the night. The elevator kept dinging and anytime someone walked down the hall you could hear it.

very tiny rooms. Wireless is patchy. Dont seem to care for keeping the rooms in order. overall clean. One day I had a water leak in bath, which they took crae of it immediately and my friend found a dead cockroach in tub. Great location near subway good places to eat/shop.

The rooms are small, but very clean. The neightborhood is quiet with easy access anywhere. Lots of good places to eat near by. I highly recommend.

Front desk was unfriendly and not helpful. The rooms are TINY and there is no sound proofing so you can hear everything (and our room was near the elevator so you could hear everyone's conversations while they waited and the ding of the door opening and closing quickly got annoying). Right near the 1 train, which was convenient and the Upper West side is really nice and safe, but also not in the heart of the NYC action. Also, do not have the hotel call you a cab to the airport - they offer a fixed rate that is 10-20$ more than if you just find your own cab.

Pro's: Great price for NYC, 2 stops from Lincoln Center, 5 min subway to Times Square, clean room, lots of towels, room heated up quickly when temperature was adjusted. Con's: The shower was freezing and then boiling - no comfortable temperature. Rooms are tiny. No clock/radio. Bottom line - You get what you pay for, but for one night it was just fine. Small-but-clean is the bottom line.

Smallest room ever! Til I saw bathroom..... Its nit a bad place to use as a stop over for a night but couldnt possibly consider staying longer.

The location is perfect and the hotel is reasonably priced. We were thrilled to find this hotel for our first visit to the city. It was 1/2 block from the subway line that we always seemed to need. There was so many restaurants and shops in the area and the immediate area felt safe. Yes the room is a little small, but we were out most of the time and only needed a clean, quiet place to sleep. This place was exceptional in the clean department and since our room was located at the end of the hallway -- it was extremely quiet. We definitely would stay here again!

The hotel is renovated, very clean and nice rooms, very small though (so if you are a "bigger" person it will be hard to move inside the regular double room) They have complementary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. But they change the access codes every day, so don't forget to get a new one from the reception every evening. The staff is very nice and helpful. The location is great - upper west side, 10 minutes walking to Central Park. I'll return there that's for sure

Checked in late at night and was directed to a deli at the end of the block in response to my request for ice. The bathroom was nicely appointed but the shower head blasted water (not adjustable) so hard against the opposite wall of the shower it created a puddle that spread around most of the bathroom floor in seconds. I informed the desk attendant upon check-out who looked up briefly from his paperwork and muttered OK with the same indifferent look that accompanyed the suggestion the night before "the ice machine is broken.

Way overpriced for no coffee, no closet, intermittent hot water, no place to hang anything even on a hook. Beds were lopsided and the hotel was very loud. Neighborhood was noisy and cleaning staff spoke very loudly in the hall for about 45 minutes at 6 am. Free wifi was also intermittent. We were positioned next to the elevator and heard the elevator door ding and open all night long. Could not adjust thermostat. Staff sort of helpful.

hotel was clean, accomodations simple but well-kept. a bit pricey for what it is but overall, would recommend for an overnight stay.

Has always been a great value, now that it has been remodeled, has to be the best deal in NYC!!

I stayed for a week at the Belnord at the end of Feb 2012 and had a great time. Nice hotel, very clean and helpful staff. Useful to have computing and printing facilities for printing off boarding pass ($2 for ten mintues) and free wireless and use of a hairdryer was a real help. I was on the 5th floor but the lift was efficient. The hotel itself and the surrounding neighbourhood are very quiet and I slept very well. Limited TV channels but this didn't bother me. Just round the corner from the number 1 red subway line - very convenient.

This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I was in the executive single, which is designed for one person (although two could fit). It had hardwood floors, high ceilings, digital thermostat control (much better than a window unit) and a super clean shiny bathroom. The hallways and elevator were also very clean and in good condition and there was a communal kitchen area with refrigerator. The wood/ceramic tile in the hallways makes the place very clean. It was very conveniently located to subway, restaurants, museum, and other upper west side attractions. There are two things to note: The room and bathroom are very small. This is not a room for hanging out in (which you shouldn't be doing if you've come to New York, because the whole world is outside to see). You cannot use the room for a business meeting because there is no desk or chair. But I really liked it, as all I did was sleep there and watch some TV. Secondly, the hard flooring, while allowing the halls to be spotlessly clean, does allow more sound to echo, so if you are sensitive to sound you may want some earplugs. I highly recommend this hotel.
