Best Western Plus Americania - سان فرانسيسكو

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to theaters, etc. The accommodations were fine. Newly remodeled rooms in an art deco theme. We had reserved two rooms, but when we arrived at 6:30 p.m. one of the rooms was not ready. Because it was the weekend, we had to sign a contract stating that we would not party and bother other guests. At 3:00 a.m. we were awakened by a phone call from the front desk asking if we had complained about noise. When we were ready to check out the next day at 11:00 a.m. we asked for our car that the valet had parked the night before. We waited for 30 minutes before anyone arrived at the valet station. When we asked why we had to wait we were told that people were on a lunch break. Check-out time seemed like an odd time to take a break. We noticed the valet ran from the hotel across the street, so it seems the staff is spread too thin between the two hotels.

This one divided the camp. I loved the fact that our room looked like a 50's retro dream with vivid colours and wacky (but sylish) furnishings, my partner was not so sure. The diner however served some of the best food we had on our vacation with great breakfasts, awesome burgers, and milkshakes and cookies not to be missed. Worth a visit for the diner experience alone... we used the valet which was a bit pricey but par for the course in this area. Some rough areas close by, but we were driving around so ok. I would not necessarily feel too comfortable exploring on foot by night

Hotel was very nice and clean. The rooms were very cool. Unfortunately we got very little sleep because of very load people outside our room in the courtyard ALL NIGHT!! We called the front desk 3 seperate times and was informed it was there security so there was nothing they could do!!!! Plus when we checked out, they would not apply my gift cards to the room stay, only the parking fee!! I told them about the gift cards when I made the reservation and again when I checked in, but they refused to apply them when we finally checked out!! It was just to much of a hassle for them??

Nice for large family, but the sofa bed was low comfort. It was noisy late in the middle of the night from party people returning. It would be helpful to know what the parking prices are for the motel. Great Vietnamese/Chinese mini restaurant across the street, good food and good price, fair service.

I thought that there were to few staff at reception much of the time and that the were long waits for service which was not the fault of the poor staff who were trying their best, their just were not enough of them

Great modern design. the room wasnt very big for us (we were 5) but it was ok. the neighborhood not very nice at night but there are good restaurants walking distance and you can walk from the hotel to the best sites in the city.

The walls are very thin in this hotel! They put me and my kids next to a room filled with guys who partied all night! I feel they gave me a crappy room because I had kids. This is not a kid friendly hotel and I would not stay here again!!!

My trip was a family outing which made my biggest priorities cleanliness and room size. On both counts this hotel met my expectations. Many higher end hotels simply don't cater to more than 4 people and my family is 5. The room was big enough with enough in room sleeping capacity to meet the needs of 5 people for a short stay.

I have stayed at this property many times over many years, primarily due to convenient location and moderate price. The last few times have seen problems with the heat. I have notified management of these problems. This stay, on a cold night, there was no heat in the room. The last guest had turned the thermo up to 90 but no heat. Couldn't even get warm enough under the covers in bed. Unacceptable. The "oh we're so terribly sorry" response of the desk clerk on being informed of this did not help. I won't be coming back until I have some assurance things have been fixed and basic habitability restored.

Even though I live in San Francisco, love staying here just to get away from everything...plus it has a pool for hot days!

Hotel has a feel of recent redesign. Old hotel with "retro" wall paper and bed cover. NO REFRIGERATOR. $20 A DAY TO PARK THERE

There are no air conditioners in entire establishment!! Just ceiling fans. Driving there neighborhood is rough also. friendly staff .parking is $20 a night..no other choice... Didn't say that online... Family room doesn't look like picture online...Its all one room...

We were very pleased with the room's cleaniness and even the area. I wasn't sure what it would be. The staff was great.

It was a good stay very close to the main street and acesss to things

Nice affordable room, everything in good condition and a quick walk to shopping on Market Street, but would recommend returning before dark, lots of sketchy people in the area. But disappointed that I did not receive the free aquarium tickets they promised and the hotel knew nothing about them

Walls are not insulated very well. It was very difficult to sleep with all the noise from outside. We could hear every car that drove by, people talked on the street, skateboarders riding by, etc... This lasted all night long. There is a $20 parking fee. The hotel is located close to the market but far from anything else. $20 cab ride from Fisherman's Wharf. Halls or Passageways are very small and we found that we were constantly maneuvering around housekeeping carts that took up the whole isle. Pretty much the worst night of sleep I have ever gotten. Hotel is not in the nicest part of town.

Fairly nice place. Incredibly nice, friendly, helpful, and informative staff. A little shady of a neighborhood but we survived quite well.

I have stayed at this property many times over the years due to good location and economical (for SF) rates. On arriving the evening of Feb 11, found the room cold. Turned on the thermostat to 70. On retiring, backed it down to 65. At aroiund 4 am, the heat started blasting, causing me tio wake up after a period of poor sleeping due to the high temp and noise. Finally woke up and turned the heat off. When I reawakened at 7, I was groggy and unrested. This needs to be worked on.

The good: Hotel had cool retro theme, the room was tidy and clean, lobby was nice. Roccos is nearby and awesome for breakfast. The bad: This place was like staying in a motel. Everything was clearly audible outside. At night I got to hear people rolling their bags down the tile floors outside my hallway. I was across from the exercise room and clear heard people taking the morning jog at 5am on the treadmill. You can hear conversations in the room next door through the wall and people walking upstairs, enough that it woke me from sleep. this excludes the sirens and screaming from outside during the night. If you get up after 7am you are lucky to have a luke warm water in the shower. the water was cold one day. I saw a bum get hit and runover by a taxi cab directly in front of my hotel. Two cops were arresting someone outside on the second day. Some nice restaurants nearby but I suggest taking a cab anywhere. The 3 block walk over to union square are very unsafe, unless you consider crackheads your friends. I don't recommend walking anywhere yourself at night. During the day my wife and I tried taking a detour down mission to avoid the strip clubs and bums on market street. Big mistake, dog crap on the sidewalks, flies all over, chained and barred up gates to all storefronts. Walking with my wife we saw a guy peeing on the curb from his car. Upon checkout I got a mumbled apology for my bad service as if he knew this was a crappy hotel. I based some of my stay on price and cost being it's was not cheap I expected much better. I feel safe in west Philadelphia by myself at night then this location.

Just love this place. Close to Market street, close to everything. We took the BART from the airport and rode public transportation to get everywhere. San Francisco is alway fun and this hotel was a fairly good deal on hotels.com.

the place was awful. It was just my daughter and I and we were put way in the back down a dark alway and the room smelled like smoke. They changed rooms for us but was again moved to a dark hallway. The windows were open and one would not lock. There was also mold all around the windows and the light in the vanity area did not work. I would not of stayed another night. We were there late and left at 6:30am so just hung in there but did not sleep. It did not look like there was even another person on our floor. Nor was there many on other floors.

Excellent confortable and clean room. A bit far to eating places by walk. Internet was free but uselessly slow.

They have recently remodeled the furnishings but that all. No tv in the living room in a family suite seemed odd. Lots of noise in the common area at all hours. Not a good place to get a lot of sleep. I was there on a weekday and people were in the court yard till after 3am. Parking is reasonably priced for SF. I will not be staying again

The room was clean and the Staff was nice and helpful. Parking was very good. The hotel was only a few blocks from Theaters and shopping. The neighborhood is not the best and it is a pet friendly hotel. We had guests in the room above ours that had a dog that made lots of noise, although the staff did speak to them and it calmed down. Overall our night stay was pleasant.

Our concerns were addressed by the manager at checkout. On the night of arrival, we called the front desk 2 times, and the staff answered without a greeting, only stating" I am busy right now, I will call you back in a few minutes". What a shock! The staff in the garage parked our car, but no one helped with taking bags to the room. No info in room on hours of pool, exercise room, location of ice machines, etc. Good price and pull out couch in area adjacent to room, so we were able to sleep 5, but double beds were small.Wall heater was loud, kept room too hot or too cold. Very unsafe neighborhood off a not good section of Market Street.

The "Plus" in this Best Western was definitely a positive. The retro decor and refurb of the past few years really amped up what I imagine was a tired building. The majority of the rooms are back away from the main street (7th St), so noise wasn't really an issue, with the exception of some chatter from people in the courtyards. The valet was courteous and friendly, and the service was no hassle. The bed was comfortable and clean, the shower head was nice and high on the wall (I'm a tall one and that means the world to me), the water pressure was great, and the climate control was functioning. I have already decided that I will stay here on future visits to San Francisco, and will highly recommend it to friends.

I rarely write reviews, but this hotel deserves a quick mention since my experience was so unexpectedly positive. I was in SF for conference, and have never stayed at this hotel before, so I was just crossing my fingers that the few negative reviews it got here (on hotel.com) wouldn't reflect my own experience. As soon as I checked in and walked into my room all my worries disappeared. The hotel staff were friendly and courteous and check-in was completely painless. The rooms have a very "modern" or "contemporary" feel--meaning that things don't have the same dated, bland, or common look that you find in most hotels. Looks like things have been redecorated, and the rooms have a sort of IKEA-type style--clean, simple, and attractive. Flat screen TV, couple of chairs, end tables, comfortable beds, nice-sized bathroom area with plenty of counter space, tall shower, small closet with hangers, iron with ironing board, and even a small safe to store your valuables. So, it has all the basic amenities and then some. The hotel even has a small workout facility, a good restaurant next door, and small bar if you're in the mood later in the evening. The only negatives were that it would be nice if the room had a dedicated desk (the TV sits on top of the only desk in the room, which doesn't leave much space). Also, the entire "wall" next to the door is a large window, which isn't necessarily bad in and of itself, but it means that because it's relatively thin even small noises in the courtyard just outside the wall/window can be heard. We didn't have too many late night or early morning people making much noise, so it wasn't a big deal for us, but then again, it was a bit cold. If it were summertime, and people were hanging out in the courtyard late into the evening, I could see that being a potential problem. Decent hotel and an overall good value. Amenities were above expectation and quite convenient. Attached restaurant, bar, fitness and pool areas were all an added bonus.

Friendly staff, close to great restaurants ( Basil & Heaven's Dog) close to BART and all bus & tram service. 30-45minute walk to the Riverfront

It's difficult to get a room with two beds for a good price in SF. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but centrally located. The decor is great but the bathrooms are falling apart. If it's warm the lack of air conditioning is a problem because you have to open your window and the hotel is loud. If you are coming to the city to party and just need a decent place to sleep this is it.

Very cool looking hotel. The only problem is they do not have AC. On a cold night in San Francisco this is probably not at issue but I happened to stay on a warm night and it was way too hot in the room. I would think they would invest in some AC. Other than that cool hotel with nice service
