It was great! I enjoyed a lot my trip !!!!!!

Overall I had a pretty amazing experience staying at this classic old hotel. The hotel is nice and vintage. The location is a short walk from museums and market street and not far from Polk St nightlife. The direct surrounding area can be a bit sketchy only a block away from the hotel. It was good for me a male, but my female fellow travelers were a little worried about the area at night. Overall I had a pretty positive experience, especially due to the very knowledgeable and helpful guy who was working at the front desk the day we stayed there. I definitely would have no problem staying with you all again.

It was just ok. The elevator smelled like something died in it. I didn't get much sleep as a result of the night club below our room. We were on the 6th floor and could hear every song. The hotel is slightly antiquated, but the room itself was clean. Glad I was there for just one night. I wouldn't have made it 2 nights.

Ok for the money. It was an older building and could use some renovating but was ok. Bath had some cracked tiles. Has a club which is convenient but makes it hard to sleep. BRING EAR PLUGS!. Got ear plugs the second night and slept ok. Has gated parking but this was a head ache when getting back late. Probably will not stay here again.

bad location homeless around. nosy you can hear your neighbors talk. dirty stinky. old very old furnitures. no power supply plugs close. I don't recommend it ever to everyone. doesn't worth the money I paid.

The Embassy wasn't too bad, and upon first glance the lobby seemed even nice. They also had a parking lot that always had a couple spaces open, but there was a gate in front of it that was controlled by the front desk, and the only way to open it was to wait in front in hopes that they see your car in the camera soon or to call them. The worst thing about my experience at the Embassy would have to be the elevator. It just had a horrendous smell, and I couldn't breathe while I was inside it. However, the customer service was pretty good, because I requested a hair dryer (which they promptly brought up) and later on 2 extra pillows (which they also brought up quickly). Another downside is that the walls are quite thin, and you can easily hear the TV from a neighboring room or the toilet flush. Also, the floors are really creaky, so you have to tread lightly if you want to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and your roommates are sleeping. The location was pretty alright, not too far from Market Street or anything else, and the night club that was complained about in other reviews didn't bother me. However, the surrounding area did seem a little shady, and I was glad for the gated parking lot. Overall, my experience wasn't too bad, but I probably wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

The Embassy Hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The building is older however, and some sound travels throughout the hotel. Room was overall clean and I did not have any issues. Unfortunately it is not very close to many of the major tourist attractions of San Francisco, but the price is lower than most others, which is why I chose this hotel.

We went to SF without knowing where we were going to sleep and we luckily found this place on the weekend of st. Patrick's day. They were holding an event in their parking lot so we couldn't check in til 6. They ended up not making us pay for Parking cuz of it so that was a big plus. The hotel was clean very vintage which I liked. But I hated taking the elevator!!! Thing smelled like dead rats. They tried to mask the smell with 2 air fresheners but that did nothing. Overall it was a nice place to stay last minute.

They've got a happening bar at night; Chris Brown was there when I stayed. Yes, the hotel is old, and nothing fancy about it. But they offer FREE parking behind electronic gates, and a great coffee and snack shop attached to the lobby. Just up the street is hip restaurant with the best French toast I've every had. The beds were comfy, the shower had plenty of hot water from the old fashioned shower heads. I opened the window at night because I couldn't control the steam heat from the radiator. If you want to save some dough, this is the place to go.

If you need to get to sleep before 2am, look elsewhere; pounding music from the club pulsates throughout the entire hotel, even midweek.

Very nice hotel... Okay location, lots of little restaurants and right above a night club.... Parking is convienient!

I stayed here from a Tue-Fri and every night except the first night I had to call the hotel manager in the middle of night to try to get him to get other guests to quiet down. If it wasn't people coming in after 2am to party it was the drunk people fighting in the hallway. I was in San Francisco for a work event and getting NO sleep every night was the last thing I needed. The manager was even annoyed that I was making him come up to the 4rth floor. And the last night it took 3 calls to finally get the party next door to stop-but at that point it was 5:30am and I had to be up at 6am anyway. I will never stay there again and do not recommend it to anyone.

My fiancé and I stayed in the embassy for our 3rd anniversary vacation. The hotel was advertised to have a refrigerator, a safe, and a large comfortable king bed. The safe was behind a cabinet that we could not get into. We couldnt find the fridge and the bed was almost too hard to sleep on. The service was good, they made sure to bring us anything we asked for. The neighborhood was somewhat sketchy and made us very nervous any time we tried to walk somewhere. Not an awful place but if you can afford somewhere nicer you should probably shell out the extra bucks.

The hotel was nice for the price. Location was very convenient and despite the hallways looking old the rooms were nice and well taken care of. The only negative is the hotel is right by a club and depending on where your room is the noise could be annoying at times. Bathroom is kind of small but overall it's a cozy stay in the city.

Hotel staff was very nice and. Flexiable, they let me check in early and check out late.

The overall stay was ok. The room was pretty clean and the beds were comfortable. The dead bolt lock was broken but the hotel felt safe anyway. The reason I wouldnt recommend the hotel is that there is a bar on the first level that plays very loud music till late in the night, which makes it hard to fall asleep.

The front desk staff were very helpful. The hotel may be older but it is very nice for the price.

Get what you pay for. Nice rooms, cheap, but directly over night club, can hear music until 2 am, and then people continue party in their rooms. For young people only, don't expect a lot of sleep.

The staff was very nice and very helpful, the hotel has a old feel to it and was ok, but it is not a place I would probably stay again.

Do not stay in this hotel unless you want to be bitten by bed bugs! Myself and my guests were all left with very uncomfortable bed bug bites after our stay here on New Years Eve. What we have learned from this experience is that bites typically take 7-10 days to appear, so most people may not know that a room or bed has the bugs. All 4 guests that stayed in our room live in different houses and have inspected our own beds and all had bites show up about 8 days after our stay at the Embassy hotel. My efforts to contact someone about the problem have taken 3 days for a call back and the problem has yet to be resolved. I will update this review as soon as they get back to me with a resolution...

Very central location on the edge of the Tenderloin. Walking distance to Powell St, Market St, Chinatown, Mission, etc. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are nice enough - dated, and nothing spectacular - but clean and medium-sized. There's a bar downstairs; I went elsewhere, but could be okay in a pinch. Was closed for reasons unknown on a Wednesday night.

Not the best hotel but it was cheap and i slept like a baby.

This is a very nice old hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Although the hotel was walking distance to several nice restaurants, the Opera House and Museums, the location did not feel very secure for evening walks, and our car had to be parked behind the building in a gated area to keep it safe.

This was such a quaint hotel - rememberances of yesteryear. Reminded me of Virginia City, Nv with all the "old" architecture. Private & secure courtyard for parking. Bill (desk person) was a real pleasure to talk with and very knowledgeable. Close to great areas and close to "iffy" areas. Absolutely would stay there again - very comfortable and modern room.

First let me start by saying that this hotel is very old, so don't expect new decor, furniture, elevator or anything else for that matter. The room was clean and looked like the pictures. The major draw back is that the walls must be made of paper, since I spent the entire night unable to sleep because of other guests either above, below or next to us that were arguing or running around with lead feet. I was on the 5th floor and could hear everyone on the street coming out of a nearby party (night club?). I could not close the window because the room did not have an air conditioner (only a heater) and the room got pretty warm (my trip was during the third week of December). Besides the noise and air conditioning, this hotel is ok. If you want to be assured of a good night's sleep, try a different hotel.

This hotel was a good reminder that the fancier the name, the mustier the hotel... Can't believe I got fooled. I suppose that's how those mediocre places stay in business.

The hotel wasn't in the best condition and it isn't renovated but I didn't mind. the hotel staff was delightful. I would recommend this hotel!!!

I am sorry to say that this hotel was a huge disappointment. I booked it based on the photos and is was nothing like them. The lobby of the hotel was decent, but our room was foul. There was mold in the shower, dirty bathroom tile and very old and wheathered bedding. The website described the bed to be pillow top with luxury linens. However, the beds were very poor quality matteresses with average to poor linens. The nightclub next to the hotel blared music till 3:00am. We didnt sleep at all. The only thing good about this hotel was its employees. They were more then accomidating when we complained. They quickly moved us to another room on the quieter side of the hotel. It was a little nicer room, but still not to the standard they promote. Our stay was for 2 nights and had we needed to be in San Francisco longer, we would have moved to another hotel. I would never stay here again. This hotel was not cheap either. Competetivly priced with the other hotels in the area.

We only stayed one night on our way driving down the west coast. We asked for a high floor and a renovated room and compromised on getting 2 qeens instead of a king in lieu of getting the first requests filled. Based on the excellent rates and the photos I figured we would be getting an older building. Having lived in NYC for many years I have come to appreciate older historic environs. I loved the art deco mezzanine and the elevator with a window that fits 4, and the arched thresholds, the original subway tiles, and echo of the restless city on a Sunday night. A loud colorful mayoral campaign truck wizzed through the street touting a local candidate. We found all this charming. Others might not think so. The neighborhood is not for the faint hearted. If you have lived in a big city, you will be fine.

Been visiting San Francisco quite a lot in work the past year. Have seen quite a few hotels. In general you need to pay a lot to get a decent hotel room. Many 2-star hotels are ok, but barely. Often run down and noisy. That's why it was so refreshing to find the Embassy: well maintenanced, friendly staff and very cosy rooms of good standard. The only thing that bother me a bit, was the street outside which was a bit rowdy at night. But sleeping with earplugs - no problems. I am visiting off seasons, so the prices were superb. But even at standard rates I would consider this hotel a find.

I would not stay there again. The person at the front desk was not helpful at all. There were bums hanging out in the lobby. There is seriously a club on the bottom floor that you can hear all night long.

Located in a very bad part of San Francisco. No air conditioning - we did not know this until we arrived and it was very hot in our room - uncomfortable sleeping conditions. Very old hotel - floors creaked, etc.
