I usually do not write reviews but they definetly deserve a praise! Great service! Free wine. Kruig coffee maker upon request free. Free hair straightener. Middle of downtown in union sq area! Right above everything. No need for taxis or rental car! All tourist attractions within 15 mins by public transport

Hotel Palomar in Union Square in San Francisco is excellent value. The location is premiere and all the best retail stores (Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Burberry, Saks, Neimans, Barneys, Gucci, Macys) are within walking distance. I thought this hotel and their staff were 1st rate. I highly suggest this hotel. Make sure to have lunch or dinner on 7th floor of Macys Union Square at Cheesecake Factory. The view is specatacular!

This hotel is not as interesting for a "boutique" hotel as some of the other Kimpton properties- more standard beige non descript rooms and decor- but it has all the Kimpton services and perks. Clean and comfortable rooms, very convenient central location , friendly staff.

All the hotels in this area (Union Square) are expensive. There was a convention going on which meant not much availability. I was on business to visit a law firm and they suggested their travel agency to me. However, I found the same hotel at a lower rate on Hotels.com. I was somewhat apprehensive that my room would not be up to par since I booked at the lower rate, but once I saw the room I was quite pleased. It was a very clean, modern boutique hotel in the center of everything. The staff was very friendly and service excellent. I would definitely recommend booking on hotels.com again without hesitation.

This hotel was very lovely. The service was excellent- everyone was helpful whether we needed a recommendation for the best dim sum in the city or a taxi for sightseeing. We really enjoyed ourselves. Our only complaint was that the treadmill in the workout room was broken and none of the tvs on the machines were functioning. Seemed a little lame but nothing to lose sleep over. All in all a wonderful stay.

We loved it. The room was very spacious and clean. Access to Cable Car/Bart/Street Car/SF Moma/Union Square make it very worth the price. Area was very safe. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!

everyone was especially helpful when we had questions regarding San Fran or about our stay. In particular, KEVIN at the front desk went out of his way to help and made sure to get back to us when he couldnt answer at that moment. Excellent service! The wine reception is a nice touch and the condition of the hotel is superior. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend to others. I'd like to emphasize again how friendly and helpful the entire staff was. This is EXTREMELY important to us when we travel.

The BART station is right on the corner so it makes transportation to and from the airport super easy. We got a cheaper rate at Hotels.com vs the hotel website. Be sure to join the "In Touch" frequent travelers club on the hotel website and like their page on facebook for free upgrades and free drink coupons. I called the hotel after booking and mentioned that my husband and I were celebrating our anniversay, so when we arrived we had a free bottle of wine waiting for us.

Location central to most venues. Staff really down to earth and sincerely interested in making stay enjoyable. From free coffee/tea, newspapers in a.m. to car service to SFO low key attention easily some of the best in area!

The location of this hotel is excellent for access to Union Square, Yerba Buena Gardens, Moscone Center, MOMA, Jewish Contemporary Museum, Westfield Shopping Center and much, much more. The only difficulty was a bit of confusion about the valet parking of our car (cheapest parking rates of most SF hotels). We arrived at checkout time and many people were checking out which was the problem. Great hotel...wine reception very boring and we both found the white wine not very tasty.

I have stayed here on several occasions and would recommend this to other travelers. If you have comfortable shoes you can walk to Union Square and the many shops and restaurants nearby. This is a smaller boutique-type hotel, which is more personal and intimate than the large hotel chains. Nice hotel and I will be staying here again when I return to SF in the near future.

This is a great location (though SOMA can be a bit over-run with panhandlers and isn't the cleanest part of the city), close to many SF sights. The hotel layout is a bit challenged. I don't like that it doesn't have a traditional lobby - just a front desk where you check in. You need to go to 5th floor for a bar/restaurant. You miss that "hanging out in the lobby and checking out the people" experience that's nice to have when you travel to a new city.

well managed understated very quiet with good temperature control comfortable bed on main Bart lines

The Hotel Palomar is very clean, quiet and in a great loaction. It is near the Powell St BART station. We took the BART in from the San Francisco Airport. The cable car turnaround is only a block away to take you down to Fisherman's Wharf. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful.

It is close to shopping and to Fisherman's Wharf. Room is a nice size for two. They don't have complemtary coffee and tea maker in the room. The plumbing system is not very good. The staff are helpful.

Very friendly people, nice location, clean rooms

If you are looking for a quality hotel which is different from all Hiltons and Marriots of this planet, Palomar is the right choice. The design of the rooms is nice, the beds are comfortable and clean. The service is superior.

I read the reviews for this hotel prior to staying here with my wife. Although it is a decent hotel, it is absolutely not worth the value of the property.

The staff were very friendly and helpful ... The facility was clean and the room was very comfortable. The location of the Hotel is within walking distance to many spots of interest (e.g., Union square, the tram, etc.). Over all very satisfied with the Hotel.

This hotel epitomizes the charm of old San Francisco and the sleek modern influence of Kimpton hotels. Comfortable and gracious surroundings and excellent service.

Took a chance on an unknown hotel and absolutely did not regret it! The staff was wonderful. The wine reception was minimal, but a nice start to the evening. The room itself was very comfortable - clean and modern furnishings. The location right above Old Navy and right across the street from the Powell Street BART station made it the ultimate convenient weekend location. Totally recommend!

AWESOME!! My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and by the time we left, we felt like we were leaving family. All the staff, from check-in, maintenance,maids,door men,even Maverick ( the dog), were absolutely amazing. They were so accommodating and full of very helpful suggestions of places to go and things to do and places to eat. We really appreciated everything they did for us. And we certainly wish there were Krimpton hotels in Canada. We definitely would return.

I travel to SF weekly for business and stay at many of the Union Sq. hotel in the same price range, depending on the Hotels.com deals that week. I have to say that the Palomar hit a home run with me this week. I hadn't stayed there before and found it to be well maintained, comfortable with great service. As I had a pile of work to do, I planned to order some room service and get busy. A staffer suggested that I try the Burger special at the (very nice) restaurant bar instead. Great call. Excellent meal and great conversation with bartender who is producing an opera in his spare time. As a result, i will try out the Fifth Floor restaurant for a more leisurely meal on my next visit (which will be soon)! Also, free wi-fi and NYT in the morning are big pluses . Thanks Palomar!

I stayed here on a recent baseball trip to see the A's and the Giants stadiums. Walking distance to AT&T park and a short BART ride over to the Collesium. Tons of shopping and restaurants also. The staff was really great and the hotel is very classy and very comfy! I need to find out where they get their comforters from!

The hotel is very conveniently located if you have business downtown or in the SOMA area. Staff is very friendly and the room was big and clean. My only problem was that my room was located right next to the bar/ restaurant area on the 5th floor. A group of people in the bar was very loud and the room was so close that it felt like I was sleeping in the bar. I called the reception desk after a while and was able to get another room. Was no fun to pack at midnight but at least i was able to sleep for the rest of the night. I think a hotel in this price category shouldn't have noisy rooms like this.

Nice hotel and very convenient to Union Square and all its shopping. Having stayed at 6 or 7 big-chain hotels, I prefer this hotel as it is more of a boutique class and much more personal. The staff was helpful and the maids to the doorman always had a ready smile. There was no bar for a late night drink, but in SF this is hardly a problem with lots of options nearby. I also liked the free internet (you only need to sign up for their rewards program) where other hotels charge a fairly significant fee. Lastly, I was driving and their covered and secured garage was a nice feature for my peace of mind. Overall, for business or pleasure this is a nice hotel and I would recommend it to others.

I loved everything about the Hotel Palomar, including the night doorman...until the next morning when it was pouring rain and I needed a taxi and the morning doorman could not get a single one. Not one! And there was an entire line of taxis across the street, but for ten minutes he could not get one to come to the hotel. I couldn't believe it! So I had to walk out in the pouring rain, with no offer of an umbrella or a taxi. Terrible service for such a highly rated hotel.

Very clean and nice hotel in a great area in San Francisco. Modern furnishings, Not a big and impersonal as one of the larger chains which is nice. Great access to public transportation and shopping. Minor complaint: Did not like the sliding door of the bathroom. No fan in the bathroom.

Great location, loved the room decor, very friendly and helpful staff, free wifi for just signing up (in a non-free wifi city a plus; stayed in a bigger hotel before, which was more expensive and still charged for internet).

Overall an excellent choice. Small hotel with attentive staff. Great location. Will definitely plan to re-book when in San Francisco.

excellent location. the service at restaurant was a little slow but the food was good. The room was comfortable and quiet. we will definitely stay there again

Loved this hotel. Convenient location to shops and restaurants. Close to bart station too. Their 5th floor restaurant is delicious!! Most hotels are now skimping on amenities, but the Palomar still offers an evening wine reception and coffee/tea in the morning.

We were on a shopping and sightseeing trip and this hotel was perfect for us. Right around the corner from the best shopping, and streetcars, buses, and BART just outside the door. Great customer service. Morning coffee was a blessing but the fifth floor lounge where it was served was very dark.

My sister-in-law and I stayed at Palomar to celebrate our birthdays. The convenience of the hotel is perfect to BART, cabs, busses, etc. We had a room overlooking the inside courtyard and it was so unbelievably quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. The rooms were so comfortable and well decorated and posh feeling. The staff was incredible! Daniel and his staff had champagne and dessert waiting for us upon our arrival in celebration of our birthdays. The hosted wine reception was a fantastic touch and a great way to get to know the other staff. Even the room service guy was so friendly and accommodating. The queen bed room was more than spacious considering the small size of rooms in SF. It was a WONDERFUL stay! Thank you Hotel Palomar!
