The room was good but the shower was really whimpy and the bathroom and counter space was pretty small. Other than that, it was fine.

The only complaints that I have about this hotel is that it was very warm even when the thermostat was turned completely off and it did not have walking access to the Excel center since it was surrounded by major highways.

Just a heads up that the advertised indoor pool is currently (December 2011) closed.

The hotel had a shuttle to the xcel center which ran every 15 minutes but the restaurant attached had very poor service, and our hotel room was dirty with other guests "things" left in the drawer and under the bed. not impressed!!

I was really happy with the location of the hotel. It was in close proxcimity to the summit, St. Paul hotel, St. Josephs hospital, and the science museum. I had a late flight and needed to get ready in 2hrs for a wedding. they made sure I had directions and processed me in quickly.

If downtown St. Paul hotels are not available, this one will be fine, but wasn't my first choice. It's older and you definitely wouldn't want to walk to downtown from here. The room was clean, though, and the staff was helpful, so no complaints.

I stayed at the Kelly Inn for 4 days, while visiting relatives and also attending to some business. It was a far nicer experience than I expected. I travel a LOT for work and am accustomed to all kinds of accommodations. The room was extremely CLEAN. I stayed at a time when there were virtually no conventions or large meetings, so perhaps I was lucky--it was extremely quiet during the entire 4 days. Thanks go out to another reviewer on this site, who urged asking for an EVEN-numbered room. I had a spectacular view of the beautiful St. Paul Cathedral. Walking distance to the Cathedral, the Capitol Buillding and the Minnesota Historical Society. VERY EASY access on to main artery freeways. A restaurant in the lobby-food wasn't GREAT, but it wasn't horrible. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. My 1st time staying at the Kelly....I'll have to return to St. Paul for future travels, and would not hesitate to book here again. Also: I was a single woman traveling alone and staying in this hotel, and I felt completely safe. This is always important.

The hotel staff was AWESOME. They were courteous and kind, and very inviting. One woman, I believe named Sharon, invited a few of us down to the hotel lobby after the evening wedding we were in to play board games, drink, and chat. It was great, and she made us feel very welcome. After that it was just me killing time in St. Paul. It's within a stone's throw of the capitol building, but really... not much to do here. Or in downtown st. paul, less than a 20 minute walk away, for that matter. There's a Sears in the adjacent parking lot, but that's about it. Overall the hotel was great, but the area is just dead. If our wedding hadn't been half a mile away at the History Center, I would have been in Minneapolis.

Staff was great and very helpful - the only problem is that there is nothing to do around it

The night we arrived, there was loud music coming from the bar/restaurant of the hotel. I called down around 12am to ask if it was a party and why was it so loud( we stayed on the 3rd floor). The music didn't stop til 1:30am! Besides this dilemma, we had no other probs.

Very convenient and comfortable moderately priced hotel near Minnesota History Center and other locations of railroad historical interest.

We booked 3 nights, but stayed 5 because this was a great hotel for convenience, and comfort. we had not one problem or complaint during our stay. As regular travellers, we can say this was one of the most pleasant hotel visits we have had in the US.

Nice hotel. Only complaints were no coffee in lobby, shuttle service didnt start until 9:00 am and coffee shop not open until 8:00 am

The Kelly Inn was in a perfect location for us - easy access to all of the major highways in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. However, there are no attractions in the area so a car is an ABSOLUTE necessity although the hotel shuttle is very accommodating. Hotel staff are polite, friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel is fine and the staff very friendly. The room was comfortable and clean but unfortunately there was no fridge in the room which would have been appreciated. We would stay here again. Booked online and the price was right also.

I had a great time at Kelly Inn. The rooms were like a dream room. the beds were comfortable. The restaurant had good food, but the staff were very rude. It was nice to go to a hotel with a pool that was 9 feet deep. the Sauna didn't work and the spa was not usable but that didn't bother me. I did enjoy the free taxi ride to the hospital when seeing a sick friend.

I thought this hotel was a great value for Downtown St. Paul. It's centrally located to where we wanted to go; it was clean and the room was comfortable. What service we needed was quick and friendly. We'll look to stay here again.

The location was great for what I needed for a business trip. Close to downtown St. Paul with plenty to do. The roads leading in were confusing at time based on the direction coming in, but once I got the hang of it the issues went away. The hotel itself has a nice restaurant/bar on the main floor with a good happy hour. The hotel itself could use some updating, the room, especially the tv, had been laid out a while ago, but it had everything I needed.

Not much around the hotel, but it's a good location off the interstate. The room was clean and updated for the most part (older tv). Treadmills in the fitness room were very old but served their purpose.

I heard this hotel was not updated or clean, but it was close to my destination (the Capitol), so I tried it. It was great -- rooms are clean, bedding seems new and is cozy, room was large. The only negative might've been the small-ish bathoom. The hotel and wait staff were EXCELLENT -- good, friendly service. As an added bonus, parking is free.

The room was very, very clean. Clean blankets like new, comfortable bed, quality pillows. The desk service was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location was also adjacent to downtown St. Paul.

We found this to be easy in and out of I-94, the major highway running through the city. Rooms were clean and staff very friendly, would recomend to anyone. Pool was clean,hotub and sauna excellent.

Check in was delayed by almost an hour, finally had to settle for a room with 2 queen beds as there were apparently no rooms with king beds that were clean! Also, room service was non-existent, and I had to go down to the restaurant to get food because they wouldn't answer the phone. TV's were old, need updating to flat-screen TV's. Very disappointing, will not stay here again.

The hotel was quiet and comfortable. The only thing I might improve was the service and the food preparation in the dining room.

Ehh ok for a night stay but nothing stellar. Rooms are dated, old 27" tube tv, and there's no way those were Queen beds even though that was the room description. They were definitely doubles. Pool is nice, hot tub is relaxing. Food at the restaurant is good and room service was speedy and hassle free. The shuttle driver is awesome too. Free drive to the excel to watch the MN Wild play.

We were very happy with hotel and restaurant/bar. Service was great, prices were affordable, andthe shuttle service to the concert we went to at the excel center was fast and conveniently dropped us off and picked us up at the least crowded gate, which had a bar right inside thedoor! Perfect!

I know housekeeping gets busy but it didn't look like their vacuum wa working. Our carpet didn't look vacuumed and there were hairs in the bathroom sink. Other than that though, the room was fine and the hotel was nice.

The hotel is decent for the price. A quick overnight stay or in-and-out business trip. Older, but overall clean facilities. Friendly staff.

Ask for an "even" number room. I was in 602 and had a stunning view (across a sunken Interstate) of Saint Paul Cathedral. It is beautiful by day -- and beautifully lit at night.. The hotel is an easy walk to the State Capitol and the Minnesota Museum. This is NOT The Saint Paul Hotel (which is an excellent SPLURGE), but, for the price --- a very good buy. Breakfast is NOT provided free --- but the restaurant in the hotel is very reasonably priced.. Parking is free and plentiful. If you are going to the State Fair, drive to the I-94 & Schnelling free parking lot and take a free bus to the fairgrounds.
