Close to everything, very friendly and helpfully guys. Totally recommend taking this hotel. Breakfast on the top flor with the view of sultanahmet y ayasofia are ameizing.

Great staff, caring staff, attentive staff. This hotel is across the street literally to most of the attractions that tourists want to see when vacationing in Istanbul. The staff made you feel like they were actually happy and honored that you were staying with them. The whole hotel was so clean. Our room had a wonderful flagrant smell. Rooms were small, as in most European hotels. Don't go to vacation in Central Asia, Middle East, etc. t if you expect rooms and free amenities like in America. This hotel had all the basics for sleeping and a comfortable stay. Great view from the breakfast area with wonderful, nutritious food. You will enjoy your stay here!

Service is friendly and efficient but the hotel rooms need to be renovated, for the moment it is more of a bed and breakfast than a comfortable hotel. However, it is unbeatable in terms of location near to the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sophia and well worth staying there if you are only in Istanbul for the weekend.

Great central location and good view from breakfast terrace. But small rooms and some noise from the plumbing. At a reasonable price, a fair deal.

The other reviews are correct about room size: very very tight squeeze. But otherwise clean and comfortable. Despite this I have no complaint about Spectra and would stay again. The breakfast selection was good and the staff was friendly. During our visit the lobby was under renovation and was not very sightly, but it was kept clean and work was done during the day while we were sightseeing, so not a problem. Can't beat the location for direct access to Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia as well as City's rail line.

Imagine enjoying breakfast while taking in amazing views of the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Sea of Marmara. Why not stay at the Spectra Hotel and make this a reality? The view from the breakfast loft is worth the price of the room. The staff are very helpful and speak fluent English. The rooms are small but comfortable (maybe expect this in the older part of the city?), but I can't emphasize enough the convenience of the location. The hotel is directly across the street from the Hippodrome and walking distance from all of the main tourist attractions and the tram (I took the tram/subway from the airport for about $4US as opposed to 20 Euros for private hire - this may not be recommended if you have a lot of bags). The only main cons are small bathrooms and rooms (but you're not likely to want to spend much time in the hotel if you are traveling to experience the city) and that the walls are "thin", so you may get to know your neighbors...

Perfect location right next to the Blue Mosque. Staff very friendly. Free internet and tea and coffee. Room small, can hardly swing a cat, but clean.

Great little hotel with a perfect location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were made up extremely quickly in the morning (one comes back from breakfast and its done). Free wifi throughout hotel is a nice plus.

we showed up to the hotel, which was in the BEST location, and was immediately greeted and shown to our room. It was Perfect, just Perfect! The breakfast was beautiful, the view was spectacular. i Cannot wait to go back!!!

Great great location, however the hotel is very dated with hard beds. If you're looking for a hotel that is all about location, and that's it, then this is the hotel for you. The rooms and bathrooms were very small, with no bathtub. Also, the shuttle service cost more than an actual taxi to and from the airports. Also a friend of mine booked her room last minute, paid twice the price and had to stay in another hotel because they overbooked, so be prepared for that as worse case scenerio.

The hotel double booked the rooms and double charged and additional guest who booked at the last minute. My friend paid twice what we did for our other rooms and then the hotel had to move her to another hotel due to over booking. All in all she paid twice the amount of dollars and was in the hotel room for less than 24 hours. The rooms are small but not unusually so for the area of istanbul. The staff was very friendly, and the location to the must see areas of the "golden horn" is excellent.

The rooms are nowhere close to the photopraphs. They are very small and have low ceilings. However, hotel staff was friendly and they put me and my wife in a 3 person room (which was slightly bigger) so that was some consolation. Breakfast was nice with a good view. Hotel location is good too.

The hotel is on one corner of the Hippodrome. The rooms are small but the service ıs excellent.

Hotel Spectra was comfortable and convenient to all the important sites of Old Istanbul. Walking access to the Tram, endless shopping and good restaurants. The double room was quite small. Linens a bit worn and very few amenities. The rooftop breakfast area had a spectacular view. Great way to start the day.

It is true that the Hotel Spectra is not what you would call luxurious. But with its rough-around-the-edges charm, friendly staff, gorgeous breakfast terrace and mind-blowing proximity to some of the most important sites in Istanbul, it comes highly recommended. If you want western-style pampering, posh amenities or potable water, look elsewhere. But if you are seeking a budget-priced pied-à-terre to serve as your base of operations while exploring this amazing city, you can't go wrong with the Spectra.

Close to all the major sights. A bit rundown but comfortable and safe. Roof terrace has a terrific view. Stayed there with two teenage girls and no problems in area. The name "Specra" is not very visibly displayed on the outside of the hotel so we had a bit of trouble finding it.

The hotel is very tired and dated and could do with a complete makeover, the location is perfect though. The staff are polite and very helpful. DO NOT arrange an airport transfer through them, the driver on our arrival was 40 mins late and the driver on our return journey was 30 mins late and drove like a lunatic, he nearly had two accidents, slamming his brekes on at the last minute and throwing us all over the vehicle, and he refused to get off his mobile when we asked him to, he was using the internet too checking the arrival time of another flight!! When my husband asked him to stop using the mobile phone, he became very aggressive and swore at us in Turkish. What he didn't realise was that we too can speak Turkish! It was a relief to arrive at the airport in one piece. We refused to tip him and again he was aggressive and very rude a very intimidating nasty man. Tea and coffee facilities would have been a nice touch instead of having to go down to the reception and wait for a member of staff to make one a drink, then try and balance the cups whilst walking up 3 flights of stairs. The best thing about this hotel is the location, it's perfect for all of the tourist sights.

This hotel is located in the heart of Old Town Istanbul very near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. The staff is helpful and the breakfast is excellent. We stayed in a 3-person room with our son so we were not as comfortable as we might have been otherwise. On this trip, we stayed in several small hotels in Turkey and find that this type of hotel does not have adequate storage for clothing. Also, the bathrooms are quite small and have almost no counter space. That said, the 4 different places we stayed, including Hotel Spectra, are pleasant and very reasonably priced.

The location is fantastic--step out of the door, cross the street and there is Hippadrome! From the breakfast room, one can see the Hippadrome, the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia all in easy walking distance. Tons of shops and restaurants are also easy access for weary travellers. It's a clean, basic accomondations, but it was comfortable. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. There was no tea/coffee facilities in the room. If you want pampering or sumptous interior, look elsewhere. But it's Istanbul and who wants to languish all day in a hotel room?

The hotel is located in a really good quiet location, close to the surrounding popular tourist sites. Walking distance from a local tram service and bhophorus boat tours. Hotel stuff were very friendly and always willing to help and provide useful advice and tips. Breakfast was amazing and very tasty and nutritious. The rooms were very clean and tidy.

I booked this hotel because of good reviews I've read, but to my opinion this hotel is very average. Next door hotel looked much better and was a bit cheaper. Rooms are absolutely not soundproof: could sleep only after last guests arrived and until first woke up. As if all doors were open.

Hotel was clean. Staff was friendly. Room was small. Shower was very small. Very near Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Peddlers will chase you as it is a touristy area.

This was a one of the cheapest hotels I could find in Istanbul. I was nervous before I got there but once I saw the hotel and its location, I know I got a bargain!! Close to all the historic sites, it is a 5 minutes’ walk to Aya Sophia and 20 minutes walk in a beautiful street to the Grand Bazaar. The staffs are friendly and we loved the breakfast in the glass room on top of the roof where we had a great view of the sea and the mosques. The rooms are a little small but overall, I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

The staff was very helpful. However the room we got for first night was very small and not as promised with two twin beds instead of one large bed. We were promised the right room for next night but by the time we were told to move in the room had already been given to another client. Then we got a better room for the remaining two nights.

Hotel is brilliantly situated. Its close to every sight. From the roof terrace you can see a sultanahmed, aya sofia and sea. Lovely view! The same you can see from the hotel room. Staff is very kind. polite and helpfull. Breakfast its very tasty, food is fresh. Hotel rooms are clean enough. They are big and bright. If i go to istabul again i would stay in spectra.

The hotel is excellent in almost every respect. I stayed there during very cold March weather, but both my room and the public areas were always warm. The bed was wonderfully comfortable with nice clean linen, room was good and flat screen TV nice. Buffet breakfast is good, but could benefit from a little varation and better coffee. Breakfast roof verandah has wonderful views of Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. All of the staff are helpful and nice.

Nice location. Would stay there again. Had my wife and daughter with me and it was a bit cozy in the same room but overall no complaints. Bathroom was tiny but functional. Breakfast on the fifth floor was good and you could not ask for a better view. Took the Metro to the Blue Mosque stop, face the Mosque and walk towards it until you get to the pavers that make up the track area of the old Hippodrome. Follow the pavers to the first bend keeping the Mosque on your left and look right, the Hotel is right there. Two hundred yard walk total.

Had a great stay here. As we were 3 people, we had three single beds in a smallish room. The woman who owns the hotel is very sweet and introduced herself to us at breakfast. Breakfast was eggs, fruit, breads, juices, and interesting Turkish foods. The view from the breakfast room is great, and the hotel is close to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

We are a retired couple and stayed at the Spectra for six nights, selecting it for its convenient location, views of the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia and excellent price. Our room was lovely, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent and we were very, very pleased with our selection. After exploring many areas of Istanbul, I cannot think of a better choice for the budget conscious traveler.

This was our first time in Istanbul and as far as the location goes, we could not have picked a better place. This hotel is caddy corner from the hyppodrome and very close to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The staff was very friendly and even helped to arrange for transportation and a performance we wanted to see.

Hotel Spectra is a wonderful 19-room hotel in a great location - edge of the Hippodrome, within walking distance to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, close to good restaurants & shopping and tramvay at Divan Yolu. The staff members are very friendly and extremely accommodating. The highlight is the free, daily breakfast served on the rooftop terrace with the priceless view of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia & the Bosphorus!!! The rooms are typical of hotels in old, historic buildings - basic but clean, comfortable, & functional. Great wireless coverage in the rooms & common areas plus a standalone desktop computer with Internet access in the lobby. The bar in the lobby serves free tea all day/night long and alcohol for purchase. Two minor negatives are the street noise (due to central location) and taxis usually have difficulty of finding the hotel (there are so many small hotels in the old city). I suggest having the hotel telephone number (in addition to the address) with you and have the taxi driver call the hotel for directions. Overall, I highly recommend the hotel!!!

For its category this hotel is in a reasonable condition, but the décor could be improved. That said, the room was clean and the stay was hassle free. The breakfast is very good - the view from the breakfast room is stunning and the quality of breakfast was very good. Above all, the location is excellent for many of the places a visitor to Istanbul will want to see. This hotel can be recommended to anyone looking for accommodation at a reasonable price.

Hotel war gut und sauber. Mussten zwar einmal umziehen, da unser Zimmer nicht frei war, sonst gut. Lage gut, Zimmer schön. Preis Leistung ok..nicht günstig aber auch nicht überteuert.

Otel çok sıradan çatı katında kaldık temızlık kotu banyoda terlık yok catı hemen başının ucunda duruyor resme aldanmamak gerek kucuk bır ev ıste yanlız terastakı manzara gorulmeye deger ve otelın bulundugu konum cok guzel. rahat ulasım saglanıyor..unutmadan yazayımmm otel terlıklerınden yok cok kotu bır durumm..

위치도 좋고 가격도 싸고 뜨거운물 잘나오고 따뜻하고 아침도너무너무 전망이 너무너무 예쁜 곳에서 먹게되고 가격대비 좋았던거 같아요,

Vår taxichaufför hittade inte vårt hotell första kvällen, det hade varit bra redan då om man hade vetat att det låg på ena hörnan av hippodromen och närmsta granne är blå moskén. Så läget är inte bara bra utan superbra! Hotellet är litet och ganska så slitet, rummen är inte särskilt stora och sängarna stenhårda i vanlig ordning men trevlig personal och fint frukostrum, god frukost, prickfri städning, mysig atmosfär och såklart läget väger ändå upp. Till spårvagnen är det cirka 300 m, till blå moskén är det ca 20m, Hagia Sofia 200 m och Topkapi runt 400m, basilika cisternen 300m. Vi rekommenderar varmt detta hotell!

Hotellet inget lyx, mycket små rum men rent o snyggt.Trevlig o hjälpsam personal och ett fantastiskt läge.

This small hotell had a friendly staff that was very helpful. The breakfast was something to look forward to. It was all you wanted and the view is hard to beat, it is like sitting on the front road and watch the blue mosc day/night. The rooms very nicely designed in an "older" way. The position is perfect, within close walking distance to main attractions, tram and restaurants.

Bra hotell med perfekt läge och trevlig personal. Fantastisk utsikt från vårt rum och från frukostmatsalen över Blå moskén och Marmarasjön. Lite små rum men hotellet kan rekommenderas.
