Holiday Inn Express Solana Beach-Del Mar - سولانا بيتش

The room was clean however when we arrived neither the telephone or tv worked. We called and someone came immediately to fix everything, and we were pleasantly surprised at the number of tv channels offered compared to most hotels. This is also one of the few hotels left that lets you set the room temperature as high or as low as you want it, so we slept comfortably. The complimentary breakfast was also pretty nice, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and several pastries and beverages. We had a large truck and the parking wasn't bad either. I'd stay here again.

Took my wife and dogs here for a weekend getaway, was OK. I will try to stay somewhere a little nicer next time. Nothing wrong with this hotel however, but if you are looking for more than just a simple bed (like a fun beach vacation) then look elsewhere.

We enjoyed easy access to the places we needed to be and the easy access to the beach. We love the breakfasts at the Holiday Inn Express. The beds were also comfortable.

Close to restaurants,stores and beach (walking distance). Great staff and breakfast was better than most "included" fare. Healthy choices available too.

Our 2nd visit really stunk. Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready yet the front desk thought it was. Thought it was an innocent error, but the front desk gave us another room and it wasn't ready so we had to wait in the hall til it was cleaned. Not good! Housekeeping was awfully late cleaning our room on one day. Last day, they started doing construction next door. Call front desk to make them stop because it was so noisy. I had to go next door to tell them to stop. They could have waited til we checked out. It wasn't like the place was full.

This is an old hotel with thin walls and no upgrades. It served the purpose for one night to be at the location we wanted but wouldn't go back.

Let me start with the biggest problem--This older hotel has paper- thin walls between the rooms. I was woken up at 2:45am by a cell phone vibrating on the dresser in the room next door. Then at 7, the same room neighbors got up and got ready to leave and had a loud conversation about where they were going to have breakfast. On the plus side, there are large rooms and an attentive, friendly staff. It's close to the Del Mar fairgrounds and freeway. The room (2 queen suite) was comfortable but seemed to be missing some of its furniture. Housekeeping missed leaving a couple of towels and drinking glasses on checkin, but that was a minor issue. Hotel was clean and in a safe area so the family could walk at night to the CPK down the bloc

This hotel is a must stay if you are going to the Belly Up Club. Easy walking distance with many choices of restaurants on the way. Cookies at check in. Great free breakfast buffet.

When I first reserved this room I was very skeptical.It didn't look too inviting in the pictures.However I was pleasantly surprised.Beds were comfy, staff was super nice and informative on eatery locations and great beach locations.(4 MINUTE WALK TO THE BEACH) Very clean room. the pool and spa were wonderful! Spa is a tad on the smaller then average side. The breakfast was amazing. I personally have stayed in many hotels for vacations and this definately had a great breakfast. My favorite were the biscuits and gravy and eggs :) The only downside that made me uncomfortable was that we were in room 221 and when we looked out the window we looked into somebody's backyard and they could see us too. Our room didn't have the Dark blinds to block out sunlight and give us our privacy. That was the only downside. I suggest anyone staying here to ask for a room with the heavy privacy blinds (if they have them)or stay on the other side of the hotel. I gave 4 stars because the food, location, and room itself were very satisfying.With or without the blinds i'm already planning a return trip!

I had a great time. Staff was awesome. Neighborhood resturants are pricey that are in walking distance. Except for the hotdog stand that is open late night! Real value!!

Breakfast was a lie. They do provide a hot breakfast but it is all microwaved and not as great as they say. The room was clean but below average. The hotel has rust throughout and even in the rooms there is rust all over the place. The beds are dated and uncomfortable, the hotel doesnt have cable T.V. they only provide a few channels. This is not the kind of hotel you go to and relax because the rooms are not inviting. If this hotel did some updating and provided a fresh hot breakfast not microwaved it would be great, but for now I would only recommend it as a place to lay your head because this is not a place where you would want to stay, relax and watch T.V., The room AC didn;t work well and it was a shame you couldn't order a movie and kick back they don't have that service either.

This is an old building which has been renovated comfortably but not lavishly. The rooms are a decent size and the bed (and linens) are greatly improved over other HI I have experienced. The included breakfast is generous with choices for all, and very pleasantly presented, The pool is quite small but it serves the young folk happily, and best of all, it's but a block to the beach.

This hotel was expensive and not up to standards you would expect from Holiday Inn Express. Room 207 Auto washing started at 7 AM. The bath tub had hair in the drain. I was only there one night and was really glad of that!

SMALL ROOM, MUSTY SHEETS, ALMOST THREADBARE. LEAKY FAUCETS, POOR DRAINAGE IN SINK AND TUB. THEY ARE NOT THAT NEAR TO THE BEACH (WHICH NOBODY KNEW HOW TO TELL US TO GET THERE) ONE NICE PERSON IN RECEPTION, BRIDGIT. THEY OTHERS WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL.

Ok for the money...

Most uncomfortable beds ever!! Smells horrible closer to a motel 8 then any holiday inn. Send a little more your only regret woukd be to saty here!

The worst experience in my life. This is BAD hotel! From the moment I arrived I knew this was going to be an unpleasant stay. The front desk clerk was rude and inpersonal, his was Paul and he looked lik just rolled out of bed with his big gut sticking out. The room was not as clean and the window looked over a car juck yard. The shower curtain was dirty with hair shavings and mildew. I wanted to run, but there were no other hotels rooms available in San Diego for that weekend.

VERY CLEAN AND CLOSE TO DEL MAR FAIRGROUNDS. OK BEACH ACCESS IF YOU DON'T MIND A LITTLE HIKE AND A LOT OF STAIRS. WALKING DISTANCE FROM TRAIN STATION (ABOUT 15 MINUTE WALK).

Pros: Good location - close to the beach. Kind staff - always had smiles on their faces (nice to see). Decent breakfast (need more scrambled eggs and bacon/less of those little rubber cheese omelettes/sausage patties). Nice pool and hot tub (very clean/towels poolside). Convenient CVS store close by for easy access to supplies. Clean rooms. Cons: Don's stay on the 2nd floor - stay on the 3rd floor, as you will hear EVERY footstep in the room above you - I have never heard this so loud in a Holiday Inn Express location. God forbid there be kids running around in the room above you... Bathrooms are very small - the shower curtain was about to fall off the walls in our room. The "Suite" we stayed in we basically a slightly larger standard 2-queen room with sofa bed. Summary: We are a believer in Holiday Inn Express and Best Western properties - clean rooms, relatively good breakfasts, well-kept properties, and overall good value without having to bust the bank to travel. Don;t get me wrong - this is a nice place, especially being so close tot he beach. On scale of 1-10 for Holiday Inn Express experience, I would rate this a 6 (a strong 8 if we didn't have the noise issues)... For those looking to stay on the Solana/Encinitas area, there is another Holiday Inn Express option just north/off the 1-5 - we have stayed there a couple of times and highly recommend it as another option. Hope this helps. :)

The room had a peculiar odor, like B.O. We had to buy air freshener to get through it. Overall it was OK for the night. The view from the room was an old, open rusty air conditioner, on top of the adjacent building, with rusty insulation hanging out, which was not the hotel's fault but unsightly, nonetheless...

The staff was curteous and friendly, the area and location was good and you get a clean comfortable room. This is not a 5 star Hotel, it is a Holiday Inn Express and I received what I paid for. I was satisfied.

We've stayed in other HI Express hotels before and this one was nearly identical to many of the others. Typical layout and tight under ground parking. Overall the staff was excellent, always helpful and friendly. The hotel was VERY close to the beach, which is what we were looking for (5 min walk). That being said, it was clear the hotel was fighting a battle against moisture/humidity and it showed in the bathrooms. It wasn't "unclean" or "gross" but for the more picky traveler it might have been too much. Breakfast was ok, I'm not sure I actually saved any money staying here for the breakfast, but it did save us some time in the mornings which was important to us. My one complaint on the hotel was that the beds were hard as rocks. In fairness, I'm picky about mattresses...

The staff is extremely pleasant and caring. The room really fit my needs to a "T".

good and clean rooms. roomservice is O.K. breakfast for this Hotelcadecory is O.K., a plus is the electric pancakemaker.

I must say that I really wasn't expecting much since it was a last minute book on memorial day weekend. BOY WAS I WRONG... My stay here was quiet and relaxing. The parking is right on the property and safe. Tons of things to see within walking distance... The pool and jacuzzi was open to 10pm... full breakfast for hotel guests... Eggs, bacon, Danishes, cereal, pancakes, juice and coffee one day the next day it was sausages minus the bacon... The people at the front desk are SUPER friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping our room clean. All in all it was a great stay and I would recommend it to ALL... BTW... guest parking is FREE not like the other hotels in the neighboring areas where they charge u an additional $20 per day. Oh and WiFi was also complimentary... A bit slow, but FREE!!! thanks u guys! U were wonderful!!!

Old hotel with ample evidence of continuous effort to keep it up and maintain it. Managers are helpful and responsive. Room of average grade for the money. No drinking glasses in the bathroom - had to ask for two plastic cups both nights. Breakfast reasonably good. Obviously they are economizing. For my money I could find a better value elsewhere, but it is in a convenient location for me.

The room was clean and quiet. Internet worked well in the room. The breakfast was very nice!!! Their breakfast room is exceptionally nice as it's very spacious and bright. I've stayed there before and always been pleased.

driving in san diego the firast time, not really knowing how far solana was it was each to find if you hav a gps.... but once you get to the area it is all you need going north on the coast. room was good, clean, good bed, fridg and microwave. a breckfast that went on till 10am, eggs bacon, biscuts, pastry,ceral..all you need to get your dat started all in a room with a tv with the news on...nice set up i stayed 3days and is a great location if your in the north part of san deigo area. anything to the city center or south can be a bit of a daily drive.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms were very pleasant and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The continental breakfast was the best selection compared to most for the cost. It is a short walk to the beach, however be prepared for stairs to the beach.

My stay at the Holiday Inn at Solana beach was brief, but very enjoyable!! To avoid the driving, I took the local coaster train. The hotel was not a far walk away from the train station, and not far from the venue where I was attending a concert that night. Unbeknown to me, the Holiday Inn was also in affiliation with that venue, and gave me some spare tickets for the show!! A great perk to my stay, as I was able to invite a few friends of mine to attend with me! If you are looking to stay in the Solana Beach, Del Mar area, I greatly recommend the Holiday Inn.

Of the 3 hotels we stayed at during our southern California vacation, we enjoyed the Holiday Inn Express in Solana Beach the most. It is not a fancy hotel, but had everything we wanted: short walk to a beautiful beach, rooms with a sliding door and small balconey, a full breakfast, free internet (especially important for our 22 year old!), walking distance to several good restaurants, and free parking. We would definately stay there again.

I stayed at the hotel because it was referred to me as well as it was extremely close to where I needed to be. It was a nice stay and very comfortable. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave so it was nice if you needed to take food back to the hotel. It was sort of a maze trying to find the room and the continental breakfast, but it was not terribly bothersome. Great stay.

This hotel is within walking distance of mostly everything in Solana Beach: racetrack, Dog Beach, restaurants, CVS etc. I have family in the area and this is very convenient. It is a little run down but clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Best value of all the hotels I have stayed at in the area.

Nice location – walking distance to the Belly Up and the Brigantine for those who like to cocktail without having to drive. Downtown Del Mar is a very short drive or cab ride away. The area is spectacular and this is a nice enough place to stay on somewhat of a budget.
