I was in town for only two nights for a meeting and looking for a hotel that was walking distance from my meeting venue. The Library Hotel was suggested. it was fantastic. A charming bibliophile motif throughout, very friendly and helpful staff, an excellent location. I only hope that I have an opportunity to return to the big apple sometime soon with my husband so that we can share some time at the Library Hotel. It's not cheap but it's definitely worth every penny spent and after all it's NYC.

The hotel can be described as "terrific" The hotel staff were so courteous and polite and responsive to any need. My wife and I stayed for 3 days and found it extremely convenient to many attractions. Grand Central Station is 1 block away if you are interested in taking a tour to Lower Manhattan. TImes Square and Theater District a 15-20 minute walk. Empire State Building 20-25 minutes walk.

Hands down one of the best all-around boutique hotels in NYC. Stellar location for Midtown meetings and quiet 2nd floor library oasis welcomes throughout the day. When I arrived last time I checked in on Foursquare and a special popped for a free bottle of wine for overnight guests. Old world feel, modern touches.

A decent option if you need to be near Grand Central. Not the most lively in the evening, but that's expected for midtown. I was really excited to stay at the Library because of the all the positive reviews, but was disappointed. The room was tiny (and I'm used to NYC standards). The ventilation was horrid - although you can adjust the heat, it seemed like it was always 90 degrees inside (the staff's suggestion was to sleep with the window open - an odd option on such a busy street and on one of the coldest nights in January). In addition, the hotel is quite noisy. All rooms face 41st street, and there is a pothole that's not quite fixed into the steet so about every 3 minutes you'll hear a lot "bah boom!" as cars drive over it. Not a problem during the day for me, but definitely hard to sleep. The front desk has earplugs because it's a common reaction. That said, the breakfast and wine hour are lovely. But overall, I'd stay elsewhere unless I really needed to be in the neighborhood.

Each floor is dedicated to a different subject matter and each room to a subsection within that subject. Our floor was Languages; our room was Romance. This is a wonderful hotel with a great location, nice staff and small but nice rooms. And the reading room and bar on the 14th floor are nice places to relax.

We stayed for a short time. The staff was charming. I loved the wine and cheese degustation! Kind of pricy but the breakfast is included and the degustation of wine too. The only bad thing... No gym.

We spent 3 nights here and were absolutely charmed! The staff was friendly and accommodating; the room was beautifully appointed, even with the appropriate library books; the morning breakfasts and afternoon appetizers with wine in the Reading Room were great; and then an after dinner trip upstairs to the Bookmarks Lounge finished the day beautifully! Location on Madison with close proximity to Grand Central Station made walking easy and convenient. The only reason I put a 4 for comfort was that the room temperature was hold to control and necessitated opening a window to cool it down, which increased the noise level from the street. I will definitely plan to stay here again on our next trip to NYC.

The Library Hotel is a cosy and convenient boutique hotel just across the road from the NY Public Library. Service was excellent. The complementary cheese and wine much appreciated. The onsite Madison & Vine wine bar was also fantastic. Will definately be back.

Brilliant position. Terrific ambiance, helpful staff. Lounge and the wine/ cheese setup was lovely.

Just round the corner from Grand Central Station this boutique hotel was a great place to stay. Our room on the 12th floor was small, nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. Noise from traffic outside was minimal. Breakfast was very relaxed with everything you could want. A nice touch was the use of the breakfast lounge to guests during the day with complimentary tea/coffee & snacks. We had a busy 5 days and didn't get to go to the complimentary cheese/wine receptions that were on each evening but they seemed popular with other guests. The roof garden/bar was a great space with nice views and, being open in the evenings to the public was buzzing with atmosphere. Overall, a lovely, comfortable, friendly hotel, idealy located for the sites, shopping and transport to/from airports.

Great place to stay. We were treating ourselves to a boutique hotel right in mid-town Manhattan because it was our honeymoon. Room was definitely small, but we didn't need much room anyway! Annoying: the fridge was weight-sensitive, so we couldn't keep our own drinks in there. Oh well. Nice perks: free breakfast in a lovely room, and all day coffee and treats, and wine and cheese at 5 pm. Everyone was very friendly.

Such a delight, this gem is close to lots of New York sights and attractions. The staff are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make your stay, relaxing and everything what you want it to be. The rooms are well sized, comfortable, and clean. A roof top terrace and a reading room, evening wine and cheese top off the experience. A meal at the associated restaurant downstairs,(Madison and Vine) is also highly recommended.

Library Hotel: Very helpful front desk receptionists and bellmen. Lovely corner small suite facing the NYPL, one block west of Madison Ave. Only six rooms on each floor make the hotel very comprehensible and cozy. Second floor lounge and breakfast room well-stocked with The New York Times and magazines, as well as books. Breakfast buffet very large, including fresh-squeezed orange juice, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit salad, and a variety of cereals and breads, etc. Attractive roof-top bar. Late check-out upon request. Short walk to fine shopping and dining, Grand Central Station, Morgan Library. Well deserves its superior rating!

Very enjoyable stay with my daughter .We found the staff exceptionally courteous and friendly , buffet breakfast very generous and wine and cheese evenings great!We made great use of the DVDs available at the desk . The location was excellent . We always felt very safe and comfortable there . A real sanctuary!

The room I stayed in was small-no lobby to meet people, otherwise great choice, I will recommend the hotel to my friends

Wonderful, Best value for teh price, best location, best comp wine and cheese---variety endless cosmopolitan breakfast, kind care and compassions of employees remarkable right across the board. Cleaning staff left me alone--loved it. Room went unentered by anyone but myself for 4 days--- privacy. Respect by everyone. Favorite staff front dest and the girls who worked hard in the mini kitchen for the breakfast and the wine and cheese. Limitless ,bountiful, ongoing filling of plates of olives varieties, cheeses, fruit, too veggies dips and bottles of red and white wine, champagne . Bottles replaced immediatly when empty. Abundance must have been the hotels theme the four days that I was there!!! I entered NY exhausted. Work had been impossible and arrangements prior to departure were endless. The flight from Canada was about 5 hrs to Toronto then another 1.5 to NY with a 2 hr lay over. This added to my ever growing transparent need for rest and comfort. The clerk at the front counter Joycelyn was kind immedialty engaging. I explained my need for a bath and a glass of wine in jest, with the underrcurrent of my reality She immediatly suggested that she send wine and cheese to my the room. (this was comp as the comp wine and cheese happens every evening) only difference was that I did not need to attend! I took my bath with wine in hand, crushed the fragrant olives between my cheeks and felt the heavy load lifted. Life is tough, the wholistic care of our mothers are distant memories. To experience the kind care and compassion of employess who go the extra mile to engage a guest ,and care for a guest is momunmentous by todays standards. I could go on about all facets of a great hotel I have stayed at many high end hotels with my work and travel. This is the first hotel expereince that I had where I came away feeling refreshed. In future travels to NY I have told my staff to reserve at the Library Hotel. The rates are competitive, and the extra's are expansive. Back at wo

Brilliant hotel. Not the cheapest, but you are getting very good value for money, considering the quality of the service, the associated freebies, the location and the size of the rooms. The restaurant, Madison & Vine, is overpriced and the 18% service charge is too high, but there are so many good eateries in the area there is really no need to eat there at all. You are on Madison Avenue, 5 minutes from the Chrysler Building, 5th Avenue and 2 mins from Grand Central. We're definitely going back next year.

We had a great 5 days here. Staff were great and the location was very central. The Idea of a library theme was great and the hotel has a very confortable "reading room" where breakfast, and wine and cheese were served in the evening. Not cheap but we enjoyed it,

We loved The Library Hotel. It is a discreet, welcoming hotel, with very friendly and efficient staff. Everyone was helpful but not over-powering, just the way we like it! Room was comfortable and despite the busy neighbourhood we slept very well. Breakfast was a great mix of fruit, pastries and cereals, all self service but with the extra help from a team of excellent ladies looking after things. Location is brilliant, right by Grand Central and The Public Library. Leaving every morning and walking down Madison was a great thrill! Price wise, it is pretty expensive and with the addition of the NY taxes it was a bit of a shock on check-out. But weighing everything up I would save and definitely come back again!

A nice, personal touch in a good location. Likes - the wine and cheese early evening, individual decor, scale, location. Dislikes - despite an upgrade (not requested), there was substantial street noise, the winder blinds (venetian style) were not adequate to keep out the light.

From the moment I stepped in, this would turn out to be a beautiful hotel experience. My room was small but very comfortable & clean. I was placed in a "New Age" themed room, so my room was filled with New Age books, but that only added to the fun of this experience. Breakfast was served in this bright, airy room on the 2nd floor, and a buffet offering a wide range of choices was offered. I had a couple of troubles in my room during my stay, but they were looked at very promptly. I highly recommend this establishment!

A superb hotel. Small and very comfortable. Great location, just a block away from The Public Library and Grand Central Station. Each floor is themed as if it were a library - reference, literature, science etc. All rooms echo that theme. A comfortable lounge with coffee and snacks on tap and a great roof terrace. Highly recommend.

Extremely comfortable hotel in a great area to see the must-see sights and then broadway shows in the evening. There is a lot to see in NYC however this hotel is great starting point with most things in walking distance. The rooms, like other reviews highlight, are fairly small which is typical of New York, however they are extremely comfortable. The hotel staff are extremely attentive, cheerful and chatty which is difference to many big-brand hotel chains. It is pricey however well worth it.

Room is very clean, staff very nice, but rooms are VERY small. My husband and I are very slim, not tall, and we found the room very tight. Also, we stayed on a lower level floor and it was noisy (street noise at night) but to be expected in NYC. I would stay again, but will probably check out other hotels first before I go back, only due to size of room.

The Library Hotel is well located in midtown. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff could not be more helpful. We will stay there next time we are in New York.

We really appreciated the in-room library. We were on the arts floor and had the music room and took the opportunity to leaf through books on many favourite musicians. The proximity to both the NY public library, and JP Morgan library was also a big plus. Also very close to Grand Central so subway travel was very easy to do. The breakfast spread was good, as was the evening wine and cheese reception. We only found out that we could take this to the rooftop garden on our last day, and would have done so because the breakfast room was often crowded. My only criticism was that the bed was too firm. Otherwise excellent service, quiet and neat, lovely furnishings as well. We would definitely stay again.

グランドセントラル駅から１ブロック 空港へのアクセスが良いので早朝・深夜の便でも安心 今回は早朝の到着になったのですが荷物を預けて朝食をいただいてから出かけました

One of the best Hotels that I stayed at. Wonderful Wine&Cheese and very helpful stuff. I will stay hear again if I get the chance. =)

This hotel is fantastic, and the friendly staff is worth mentioning, as they really make the difference from other equivalent hotels. The surroundings are quite boring from 8 PM, as goes for all of midtown, but on the other hand I have never experienced a NYC-hotel this quiet during nighttime. Worth mentioning is that taxes add up about 20% on your price from the site. This goes for all NYC-hotels so that is no criticism specific for the Library hotel. I have, after quite a few visits to NYC, found my favourite hotel. Will definitely come back

Vil du bo midt i hjertet av Manhatten i NY er Library Hotel i Madison Avenue et supert alternativ. Dette er et lite og sjarmerende boutique hotel hvor man lett slapper av mellom aktivitetene mens man er i NY. Utrolig sentralt med Grant Central tog og metro stasjon kun et kvartal unna. Også svært lett forbindelse med flyplassen der flybussen fra Newark slipper deg av like ved ca 200 meter å gå. Hver etasje har et tema og vi bodde i math&science etasjen og rommet vårt hadde bokhyller fylt med dinosaur bøker. Litt artig synes vi. Vi satte stor på at vi hver dag ble servert gratis vin og ost kl 17-19. Frokosten som var inkludert i romleien og vi digget frokostblanding med frisk frukt og yogurt, toppet med fersk Bagel og ferskpresset appelsinjuice. Vi hadde deluxe rom som hadde en helt perfekt størrelse og en god queen size seng.

Library Hotel ligger flott til og har service av ypperste klasse. Veldig hyggelig Reading Room hvor det serveres frokost, samt gratis vin og ost hver dag mellom kl 17 og 20. Populær bar på toppen av hotellet med noen bord utendørs. Brasserie tilknyttet hotellet i første etasje. Rommene er små og litt mørke, men holder god standard. Eksklusivt og praktisk bad. Gjennomtenkt konsept med bøker i alle rom, i stedet for Do Not Disturb, heger man ut skiltet med Shhh, Please let me read...

Für New Yorker Verhältnisse ein super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Zimmer zwar klein, aber komfortabel, die Lage in direkter Nähe zur Central Station kann fast besser nicht sein. Frühstück und Nachmittagssnack waren ausreichend und sehr lecker. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

初めてのNYでほとんど英語も話せない状態でしたが、フロントの方に親切にしていただき、朝食の時間と夕方のワインの時間を紙に書いていただき、場所もポーターの方に連れて行ってもらって不自由はありませんでした。 部屋は広くはなかったですが、圧迫感もなく、インテリアは私好みの落ち着く感じでした。とても清潔でした。空港からのバスがグランドセントラル駅に着くのですが、とても近く、また図書館やエンパイヤステートビルも近く、地下鉄の駅もすぐで人どおりの多い通りを一本入ったところで安全かつ観光にもとても便利なところでした。ぜひまた利用したいと思います。

Suveränt trevligt hotell med bra service, personalen mycket omhändertagande och tjänstvilliga. Hygglig frukost, toppenfin bar på taklterassen och trevliga sällskapsutrymmen

Oppholdet ved Library Hotel svarte på alle måter til forventningene, ettersom vi booket på bakgrunn av mye positiv omtale. Rommene var kjempefine, betjeningen svært hyggelige, hjelpsomme og alltid "tilstede". Takterassen med baren er helt suveren, og når været var på vår side, et yndet sted for litt drikke og snacks. Hotellets plassering er også et godt utgangspunkt for det meste. Mine varmeste anbefalinger for Library Hotel. Jeg kommer gjerne tilbake.
