Melia Santo Domingo Hotel & Casino - سانتو دومينجو

The Melia is very nice , close to other Hotels with Casinos. The noise from smokers outside the casinos was the only problem. The pool and Gym are small, but have very nice attendants. Minor thing: the only hotel in the world that has only one coffee package for your whole stay; with a coffee maker in the room that is silly cheap

The hotel staff was not friendly at all. They were condescending and very rude. I will not stay here again. I was disappointed to be treated this way.

I got a good experience

This is a great atmosphere hotel worth every penny I spent,Food was excellence with great attentive staff.

- Unfriendly staff : They just try to upsell Ex : Ask for a place to eat : They recommend you to eat in the hotel because everything else is expensive outside. They got to be kidding. - PAID Internet in the room RARELY works. When asked they said i can use the business room. Come down to the lobby and ask for business room same person says sorry we are closed on SUNDAYs. I asked if they can print my boarding pass. Sorry we are closed on SUNDAYs:( - THIS ONE TOPS : My friend's aunt (lives 30 mins away) came to pick us up for the airport. Since it was raining she got a little wet (she street parked : bad idea:( ), we thought we can let her use our room to clean up. The front desk asks for $50 to let a 50+ year old woman since it is past 7 PM:) inspite of knowing the fact that we are checking out in next 1 hour:( I thought of asking for a SUGGESTION BOX : I am sure they would have charged $100 for that:):)

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and the prices of the food in the restaurant were really reasonable. I expected much higher prices, but the food selection and quality were very good. I did not like that you had to pay for wifi service, but it was reasonable at $9 a day. That's kinda the general rule in many hotels. I have seen prices as high as 19 a day. Rooms were very comfortable, clean, modern. Walls were a little thin. Could here the people next door talking at night and in the morning. Still don't understand why taxis want to charge $25-40 to take you to the airport from hotels. I just walked a block and got a taxi for $15.

Stayed nearly 3 weeks, not a single complaint. Good restaurant, pool, tennis courts, exercise room, etc. My room was spacious and comfortable. Minibar in the room was great, complimentary newspaper at my door each morning, etc. . Looking forward to the next business trip here.

well located. Bussiness type hotel.

very good hotel

Stayed two nights here at the end of a 9-day trip (most of the trip was in Las Terrenas). We wanted to do sightseeing in the Zona Colonial and be close to the airport for our departure. The Hotel Melia was pretty much exactly as pictured on the website. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the service was friendly and efficient. The pool was larger than I expected and very clean. The only complaint was that our room key (a magnetic card that is also needed to use the elevators) stopped working twice. Not a big deal (just went down to front desk and they reprogrammed it) but irritating. Otherwise everything was smooth, easily up to the standards I expect from any other major hotel chain in the US or Europe. The buffet breakfast was pretty good but definitely more of an American style of food. If you want something more Dominican then there are plenty of other places to go. The immediate vicinity is characterized by big hotels along George Washington avenue with the sea on one side and a nice tidy residential neighborhood behind the hotel. You can easily walk to the Zona Colonial (the old historic district) in 15-20 minutes but some areas along the way are a little sketchy - fine during the day but maybe worth a taxi at night. The unique Meson de la Cava (a restaurant literally built in a cave) is a short cab ride away and worth it for the food (quite good) and experience even though it's a little pricey.

We spent New Year's eve and the first days of 2012 in Sto. Domingo and stayed at the Melia. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were always very helpful and the hotel was very clean.

I had no complaints at all. Staff was very charming and fast. Clean but lacks a good place to eat.

Love it. Nice room. Great staff. Great food. I will be back in May to stay in the Melia.

i have been there four times it is a nice hotel i enjoy my stay there it is clean n nice ,the oly thing that bothers me is that they do not follow the resevations when you make!!front desk is bad not helpfull at all! i reserved a smoking room n they give me a non smoking room ,i asked for ocean vew and they give me something overlooking the back of the hotel..my prevew stay there my girlfriend had forgotten her id at home they checked the records and found a photocopy of her id and after 45 minutes they told her she had to go home n bring the original!!that i did not understood !but i will recomend it to others its nice n clean and relaxing ..i go there again but they must train the front desk better ....

I recommend this Hotel 100%, Loved it very clean, the staff was nice and well mannered. i would definetly stay here again.

Great for business travelers, very comfortable beds and room size the only set back was troubles with the internet connection, they took the charge off the bill.

Despite of traditional Dominican courtesy and friendly behavior, the hotel itself lack of most of the Melia standards worldwide. (1) The hotel lobby has lack of lighting, the furniture provide a gloomy ambiance. (2) The breakfast is low quality in most of the items. (3) The room is large and spacious however, furnishing seems and smell old. (4) Bathroom has a quite poor aspect, taking a shower require to some ability to find the water-flow, perhaps is the lack of water, hence a handy-shower will help. And so forth.

Very comfortable and convenient. Staff very helpful. Intermet connection expensive and a little slow.

The biggest issue was the stench in the hallway. You can tell this hotel is long in the tooth. It desparately needs a renovation.

had a wonderful time in your hotel!! stayed on LEVEL, the way to go i think. enjoyed the wine and food at 5pm! room service, maid service was very good. had one not so good meal in restaurant, was buffet, food was cold on buffet, the restaurant did not charge though, was kind of them. otherwise a very enjoyable time.

Great service. Room cleans, polite and serviceable people. Restaurant needs improvement. Menu is not so good and breakfast is the only meal you can have.

I reported a missing pant form my room and I did not find that they care about it, no appologies, no concern. Coffee for the coffeemaker in the room only the first time,if you wanted it after that you had to pay. Newspaper some mornings, very irregular the service. Did not keep quality. Recommend, but with concerns, the hotel plant is great, the service is suboptimal.

The best thing about the Melia Hotel is its staff. Great service, great attention. Breakfast has to improve a little bit but its ok. They should include more fruits (not only pineapples and papayas). Room was very clean and when I requested to change the bed skirts they did it without hesitation. Room bar is too expensive for the items included ($5 dollars for a Snicker is too much!!). Location is good but never try to take Washington Ave on the mornings, its weird. If you need to leave the hotel, do it by taking the street on its backside.

The only downside is that when you look at the pics it appears as though you can go to the beach when in fact there is not a access to the beach. It is across from the beach but the bank is large rocks and the water reaches the rocks so laying out or doing anything 'on the beach' is simply not possible. Also the restaurant wasn't as nice as I expected when compared to the rest of the hotel. Otherwise things were as expected which was very nice.

great location,nice rooms, clean and comfortable, the front desk personnel not well trained. Breakfast delicious.

our stay at hotel melia was a very nice expirence until the last night of our stay when i had an argument with the valet attendance, name pablo, he refuese to lift the control arm at the area of parking, perhaps thinking i was not going to give a tip,shame on him it did ruine my evening/ thank you

The hotel is a pretty place. Because it is more a business hotel, the night ambiance is lacking.

When I'm in Santo Domingo for business purposes Melia Hotel is always a good choice. This time I reserved a Junior Suite but they upgraded me to a full suite. The service was outstanding. One regret : to be there only for one night !
