Nice quiet

Worst hotel we ever stayed in! Very poor lighting. Very noisy fan in bathroom and had to be on to have light . Only one mirror in room and that was in bathroom. No available wall outlets to charge phone, etc. Had to unplug lamp to access outlet. Horrible bed! Horrible pillows, very flat and foamy! Ripped sheet on one of queen beds. Filthy curtains. No screens on window. Fans did not vent steamy BR. We really were afraid we would have bed bugs! Horrible skunk smell that permeated room one evening. Don't know if it was a skunk but all three rooms we had noticed it. In desperate need of paint job and updating.The room and the hotel itself had a unpleasant odor. Had to pay for parking. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone! Maybe this is what one gets for the price. We did not notify front desk of our dissatisfaction with the room. Plus was a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Didn't use microwave so don't know if it worked.

For the money it is a great place to stay. Great service. Older place but decent.

Not a bad hotel. Friendly staff honest workers. I left my ipad behind and went back to get it and they had it at the front desk waiting for me with out knowing I was going back. Overall...it's a older hotel. if they would invest in making the rooms look nicer..matching furniture it would be alot better. heater didn't work.

The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Check in was quick. Room was comfortable but finishes were worn. Price was right for the experience. Didn't spend much time there. Location is great.

I don't mind paying for parking, but when you are the only ones staying there and there really isn't any major attraction within two blocks, you shouldn't have to pay for parking. When you factor in the price for parking, you might as well have stayed at a different hotel near by. About 3 miles to Hotel Circle where there are plenty of hotels and motels for around the same price with free parking.

Hotel was fine and room was HUGE! but parking was an extra $6 and window did not open and seemed broken. TV was good with many channels. OK hotel but not perfect.

If you want to stay in Old Town, or if you want to go downtown and don't mind a 20 minute trolley ride, then this place is a really good option for the price. It's within walking distance of really good mexican food. It isn't the classiest place, and the continental breakfast is a bowl of cheerios and a muffin. But it's a good cheap.

We liked the fact that we were able to check in early, it was convenient to leave our car there for a couple of days and use public transportation and within walking distance of Old Town, the street cars and connections to get around easily to the Zoo and Balboa Park. Breakfast a little on the light side and $6. a day to park but we knew that ahead of time.

Old town western inn and suites enhanced our vacation. This hotel is great for sightseers who need a hub between the sight to freshen up, relax and get comfortable sleep. It is minutes (less than 10) to Old town San Diego. Two exits from sea world (about 10 min). 10 min from little Italy, Gas lamp, and marina. Also close to Coronado. The freeway is close but there no highway traffic can be heard. The service is better than high end pricey hotels. Sanjay was vey hospitable an knowledgeable about the area and sights. It's free to park outside but sheltered parking costs 6 dollars which is ofset by an appetizer voucher for cafe coyote ( voted best restraurant multiple years) Outside parking is close enOugh to not be an issue. I highly recommend this hotel especially the suite for families or couples.

Room smelly and there was a dog 2 rooms down the hallway.

We were extremely upset that after my husband had a shower, the water was cold. The kids and i couldn't shower. When we called they said they are working on it. That's it, no one cared that we didn't shower. Everything else was decent.

Great location, no stress parking, convenient to Old Town but very outdated. Old furnishings, wall paper is peeling and drapes very worn. Lots of potential with updates of new carpeting, paint, and new furniture.

Perfect location 2 take a 5 hr nap before we went to out nephew's marine boot camp graduation

Check in, location, cleanliness all OK. The only thing I would change is the $6 fee to park your car.

Very quiet, comfortable and in a great location. Can't get any better than this for the price. totally recommend.

My first impression when I arrived was that this hotel would be a disaster. It was older (which its name implies) and looked rundown. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of my room. it's outdated but very clean and comfortable. The staff was always very helpful and accommodating. Old Town San Diego has great restaurants within walking distance and is within easy distance of downtown, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. I'd recommend this hotel!

The room looked tired and old, out of date. window was very difficult to open and close. No screen on the window. we could hear the noise from the freeway because it was so close to the hotel.. the complimentary breakfast was cheerios, corn flakes and commercial small muffins that most people avoid due to their artificial nature. tea and coffee served but both tasted like colored water. Needless to say, we went out for breakfast. It wasn't worth getting up for at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The wallpaper in the bathroom was mismatched and needed to be reglued. The pillows were just plain lumpy. Indoor/outdoor carpet in the hallway was torn and shredded in several areas. The hotel was within walking distance to Old Town. Overall, it was a place of convenience. Just curb the urge to redecorate until you arrive back home.

As the title says if you are looking for an inexpensive hotel in a good location look no further. The goods - location location its about 1/3 mile away from the Old Town trolly station that takes you to downtown and anywhere you wanna go in san diego. The Bads - hmmmm well kinda a lot the floors were dirty, stained carpet, rust in the bathrooms, WRONG toilet lid, The base cove on the walls was somehow carpet that was coming off. All the window screens look as if they have been pried open by a screw driver just an FYI But if you can look past all of these said items then its alright and gets the job done.......but then again so does a motel 6.

For a cheap hotel, this is just as good as any. Walking distance to Old Town's bars, restaurants, and shops. Walking distance to San Diego's trolley line that will take you to the stadium and the gaslamp district. Rooms are clean. Staff was friendly, even let us check in 5 hours early. Will definitely stay here again. * in reference to some other reviews I read before I stayed there... yes the decor is hysterically ugly but it had a really nice hd tv, and the beds were standard. Also, the breakfast is coffee and muffins...nothing special but more than nothing at all :)

Right off frwy. Good location. Within 2 blocks of old town, we walked up to it. We were there during the power outage, staff did a great job under the circumstances. But for me the bed mattresses were terrible, I didn't sleep all nite. If I can't get comfortable i can't sleep. I won't stay there again.

Absolutely great! Staff was awesome. I got to check-in extra early with no hassle! They got me a cab to the airport in a matter of minutes, when I was running late. Recommended a great restaurant! Every time I needed something they were right there to help me. Plus the cost was really reasonable especially during labor day weekend!

You have to pay for parking, internet in the lobby is limited with a fee charged for printing. Wi-Fi in the room was spotty, at best.

Way better then I thought it would be!! No complaints, quick and easy stay, just what I was looking for.

Glad it was only one night...

Easy access to freeway, great location for Old Town for good food and shopping. Older building, but clean and adequately appointed.

We have stayed here many times and it is often hit or miss. The rooms are very worn and dated, but clean. Definitely not geared towards the high end market. But, you won't find a better deal in Old Town for the location. We have two young children and typically only stay for one or two nights.

The lobby smelled like vomit. They charged me to park on the hotel grounds. The parking garage is very narrow. They put me in an already occupied room. The breakfast was stale.

It is alright, if you want to be in Old Town and not spend a lot on a room. But it is not a nice place, I have stayed in better Motel 6.

The location was the ONLY thing good about this hotel. It is close to MCRD and surrounding businesses. We could walk to the DI meet and greet, but that is it. The beds were horrible, the wall paper was peeling off, the arrangement of the room, and windows and light switches was strange. I am just glad we weren't in our room much!!!!

I'm recommending this hotel solely on it's location and convenience access to Hotel and Airport rental places. great for a low budget stay for one night to catch your plane the next morning. It has fresh coffee in the morning.

The hotel is quaint and could be a gem in the making, however the rooms need to be re-decorated. There was mix matched furnishings, the table chairs were soiled, the upper hinge of the room door was lose causing the door to have to be forced shut. The kitchenette window only had sheers and no curtain, therefore the people on the patio in front of the window would be able to see someone getting dressed at the vanity area. The carpet had tears and needed to be replaced. There were only flat sheets on the bed, therefore once you turn in the bed the flat sheet you are lying on would be ontop of the bed leaving the matress exposed. The exterior of the hotel could use a new paint job. The room was clean but the furnishings and torn carpet made it seem dirty. I worked in the hotel industry for years and deferred maintenance/re-decorating can deminish the value of the hotel as well as reduce the ability to secure return patrons. I hope they take this to heart and turn the hotel into the gem of Old Town that is was meant to be.

This hotel is not worth the stay

We hebben drie nachten in dit hotel geslapen. We waren dik tevreden. Verwacht geen vijf sterren hotel. Leuk straatje om de hoek(voor een paar dagen) waar je lekker kan eten. Seaworld is 15 minuten rijden.

First of all we booked this hotel online, which the photos looked great but we sure were suprised once we got there. The room smelled, the restroom was dirty, the towels in the room had holes in them, and the noise from other rooms and above you never allowed you to get a good nights rest. The hotel advertised a nice continental breakfast, but that was the joke of the morning. It was cereal and warm milk and a few muffins left on a counter next to where you checked in. The only great thing about our weekend trip was the time we spent in San Diego, but when it came to the room it was like oh we have to go back to the hotel. I would not reccomend this hotel to anybody.

The hotel accommodations were excellent with one exception: there are not enough parking spaces for the guests and the spaces are too small even for compact cars.

The location is great but the rooms need to be renovated. Did not have hot water, I guess everyone was taking a shower at the same time. Most likely would not return.

The room was much larger than I expected! I was very pleasanty surprised to walk into my room. The linens were hideous, but the bed was still very comfortable. Comfort trumps "fashion" any day, and for the size, comfort, and price, this hotel is somewhere I plan to stay again on future visits to San Diego.

We were just out of town on a whim and decided to go explore old town San Diego. So we booked a hotel as fast as we could find it and it met our expectations well enough. It was actually more than expected because they supplied enough pillows, soap and towels to accomodate all the people in our room. Good experience. And very close to bars, restaurants, museums and shopping.

Had to pay $6 parking ea day. Room was not satisfactory. Musty moldy smell upon entry to room. Bedding old and worn out. Missing battery for TV selector, Broken lite in corner lamp. Coffee maker didn't work--had to move to bath sink area to get it working. But location was good and near to Old Town.

had great stay easy freeway acsess nice people and great service i recomend this hotel big bang for the buck

Great location to Old Town San Diego and to the USMC Training Depot. Found excellant eateries and gift shops within walking distance. Felt very safe walking at all hours. Hotel was a little run down. Room was clean but very dark. Light bulb missing in one lamp and the other we weren't able to plug in. Without moving the coffee machine we weren't able to plug it in either. Toilet seat cover needed to be replaced.
