The hotel service was terrible. The actual resort was nice but the service was horrible. The concierge was not useful at all. I was very disappointed in the service of this resort.

The bathroom isnt good condition. Need clean better the bath.

Although big resorts are not our favorite, this one has a very nice location near the El Yunque Rainforest and on a pretty beach with nice moderate surf. Our oceanfront room was spacious and had a nice view of the ocean and pretty grounds. The only drawback with the room was the pounding beat of bad music from the "Tiki" lounge near the pools, which took away from the ambiance on the balcony. Service was good and staff was very friendly. Our big complaint, and the reason for the rating of 3.0 instead of 4.0 was the food. We had lunch at Marabella, which had horrible fruit and unappetizing burgers and sandwiches, combined with indifferent, slow service. We got room service that evening; the service was pleasant, but the food was marginal and over-priced. The only exception to our disappointment with the food was the really good coffee/pastry/smoothie outlet near the casino, which was both reasonably priced and very tasty. Overall, we can recommend everything here except the food, although if you are not a big resort type, this place may be a bit too hectic.

The public areas were gorgeous. Nice pools, beach, foyer etc. but you feel isolated in a tourist trap. You feel nickeled and dimed. Parking, $15, Internet, $10, simple lunch, $20, poolside daiquiri, $10.50. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit rough. Other than the el yunque forest, it is quite a drive to get to the next note worthy attraction.

Gorgeous Hotel *Super friendly staff *BYOF (bring your own food....expensive) *Once you're there, you're there to stay unless you have a car. *Perfect place for relaxation

Rio Mar has everything you may need on a vacation to relax!! But costumer service & room cleaness needs some improvement!

Enjoyed our ocean front room but after walking on the tile floor I notice my feet were really dirty. YUK. Every thing else was clean but apparently floor washing is not done too often. Only ate one meal at the hotel as they were way overpriced. If you don't have a car to get off site, you could go broke eating 3 meals a day there. We chose this hotel in relationship to other attractions in the area. Not being golfers, Rio Mar's courses were wasted on us. Glad to see an adult pool but most of the chairs were "saved" with towels but no people using them. Plenty of chairs on the beach.

Was told of a credit hold on the credit for 900 but was advised by the credit card 1400. Big difference from what was told.

The hotel is a nice property and on a beautiful beach. It is clean and offers several dining/eating options. We had a very good rate and I would say got a lot for our money, but it didn't seem like a true 4 star hotel. The smaller details were lacking, services sort of stripped down and it is very family oriented. The dining options were a little pricey for what they were.

food and drink a bit pricey. didn't play golf but courses looked very nice. close to El Yunque rainforest

The housekeeping service of the hotel was very poor. The room maintenance could have been better. We did find the hotel breakfast very good and a great place to bring children. It had a lovely beach and very nice pool area.

Very large hotel with a big beautiful beach, great waves, and a fine big pair of pools. One pool just for adults, which makes sense because the place was full of young children on school vacation. All the hotel activities--horseback riding; rain forest tour etc--were way too expensive, averagine more than $100 a piece for each, so we lazed around the hotel which was fine, but limiting.

Very much enjoyed your resort. Your staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. I only have two comments that you may want to address. Our room has a mildew smell, perhaps because of your proximity to the rain forest and the cafe outside the casino..once again great people working there, but it is not any where near the size it needs to be to serve your guest...in the morning there is always a long line up, the working conditions for the staff are cramp and inefficient. You could be making a fortune there if it were larger and you could properly staff it. My 80 year old brother in law fell at the Teki Bar due to a step that is marked but he did not notice it. Immediately there were all kinds of help there from the hotel and security ( I felt they were trying to get a statement signed to waive any responsibility on the resort ) I would have thought as a guesture his dinner or at least his beer would have been on the house, but not the case. He did hurt his hip (and his pride) but there was no follow up by the resort the next day or the balance of our trip.

My friend and I stayed here for our first 2 nights upon arriving in San Juan. We picked up a rental car from the airport and drove the 45 minutes to Rio Grande, where the hotel is located. I had read a lot of reviews on here and wasn't sure what to expect because it ranged from raves to horrible rants. I thought our room was plenty spacious and even had a nice peek of the ocean view from the balcony even though our room was technically "resort view". The room was clean and comfortable. The maids did a nice job of cleaning. The resort grounds were *beautiful*. Several nice pools and just footsteps to the beautiful ocean. At night time, the countless stars glittered in the sky. My friend and I aren't really into staying out late but it seems like they could have used a dance floor of some kind. The only night life seems to be the casino in the hotel and the hotel bars are open late, but not much excitement there. Our room was on the same floor as the lobby and we were afraid the noises from the casino would keep us up, but it was actually tucked away far enough that we couldn't hear anything at all. The biggest downside for me was how loud the water pipes were. I'm not sure what they were doing next door to us, but on my first night, it seemed like they took about 5 showers at 1-2 AM and it was LOUD. I couldn't sleep at all. Luckily, they only took 1 shower the next night. Also, the drinks and food were expensive and not worth it...if you have a car go to one of the nearby dining places. Note that it does cost $15/day to park your car though, but the flexibility is worth it considering it is tucked away from a lot of things. There was one breakfast place we liked that was on Rt. 968(?), the turn from Hwy 3, but they were consistently out of ham/bacon. We didn't want ham/bacon so it worked out for us, but just be warned. All in all, if you're looking to stay in a safe, tucked away place with comfortable, mid-level accommodations on beautiful grounds by the beach n

Great property. but it is outta the way (45 min from airport with no traffic), 1.5 from Old San Juan. If you just want to relax, then this is a place for you. if you want to explore PR, then get something closer to San Juan

Loved our stay at the Rio Mar Beach Resort! About an hour drive from the San Juan airport, it was conveniently located to El Yunque Natl Park and the Bio Bay kayaking in Fajardo. Really nice rooms, we had an ocean view room and it was beautiful. Awesome beach and pool area, free chairs and umbrellas on the beach!! Multiple dining options, excellent concierge service, casino... Wished we had stayed longer than 2 nights, loved it!

Property is huge and maintained very well. The only part that I did not like was the room quality. Very basic. No fridge (available only at extra charge) in the room. Room had to be fumigated for ants and spiders as they were all over.

Beautiful Resort, wish we could have stayed longer. When I arrived at the room 1 bed wasn't made. Dirty glasses in bathroom sink and garbage still out. We went out and on our return everything had been taken care of.

The hotel had only 20% occupancy therefore it was UNDER staffed. Only 2 restaurants were opened each night. All concierge wanted to do was set up time to show us their condos. And most of the staff there were very rude.

The hotel, casino and other hotel ammenites were lovely, the room on the other hand not so much. The room was nice but it was humid and moldy, there was some kind of dehumedifier that was not really doing it. We got there late and tired so we stayed the night in that room, it was a big mistake, woke up at 3 am with the worst case of allergies, it was so bad my wifes blowdry had curled. The food was expensive but its expected due to its exclusivity, I only stayed there one night and maybe it was just my room but i would not recomend to stay there, gamble and eat but dont sleep

This hotel is beautiful! It is located just a minute from El Yunque. Kinda far from San Juan though. If you wanna be in the middle of the tourist areas, this is not for you. This hotel is for those people that just wanna relax and hang around the hotel. It has a cruise feeling in that there are activities and excursions for the guests. There is a parking fee of $15/day. I wish I had known that. Also, Enterprise is located within the hotel. I don't know their charge though.

The hotel: beautiful, the costumer service, specially the lobby, very poor, no costumers service at all, the really need training, the view, spectacular, also the pools nd beach, to die for...the employees that woks at the beach nd pool better than the ones who works inside nd went to college for it! Coming back next year ohhh nd i have to mention that they charge for parking per night, so why am im comong back, just cause the pools nd beach are spectacular!

Great place to stay for a relaxing time. Downside, no nightlife. Everything shut downs by midnight. Must travel 45 min to San Juan

We spend a family weekend vacation in this hotel and we enjoy our stay. Nice pools and beautiful beach. The only negatives comments are the noice of water pipes in the night (1st floor), food too pricy and you have to rent a car to get in and out of facilities. No complimentary shuttles to airport or interest sights. But is an excellent place for getaway and for relaxing. Recommended...!

Very elegant resort, surrounded by the awesome rain forest. Very friendly people, great food, very cleaned pools, great room service. Relatively cheap, if compared to other places in the Caribbean. Strongly suggested!!!!

Great hotel, very nice personnel and excellent service. I'll return. I have recommended it to my family and neighbors.

My friend and I decided to take a last minute long weekend to PR and stayed at this hotel. The managers of the hotel were great and extremely accomodating. I will definitely come back and stay longer!!!

Stayed here for 5 nights over the holidays with my partner. We chose it for the tennis center (independently operated). The har-true courts were not in great shape, but we did get out there daily. Unfortunately, a tennis discount normally offered to hotel guests at check-in was not offered to us since we booked on hotels-dot-com. (We're not sure if we missed out on other perks or discounts, though it seems likely.) The resort was nice overall, nice beach, poolside food and beverage service, etc., but the rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. Sand was forever on our tile floor. Pools and hot tub were great, with the exception of the seemingly constant bingo playing at the kids pool - I could have done without all the amplified number-calling. Restaurants were mostly good though not cheap. There are local "off-campus" options but the surrounding neighborhoods are not of the same class as the resort. It was a little like being on an island within the island. We took one tour, to the rainforest. It was a waste. Our guide's English was extremely challenged, and the information imparted very basic. Go on your own, or make other arrangements, if you want to see El Junque. On the whole, I'd recommend to families but not if they are on a budget. And I wouldn't recommend to couples looking for some peace and quiet.

The hotel is nice and the grounds beautiful. The staff was helpful The resturaunts are fair at best.

Hotel is nice. Beach is less than average. Casino is less than average. Casino staff not customer focused. Golf course had so much rain over the last 6 weeks, hard to tell if it was always in this bad shape.

This hotel is very nice, the staff is very pleasant and nice, the only issue is the food is way too expensive and you have several options just up the road. The best, by far, is the Kioscos in Luquillo (less than 5 minutes away) or a few local restaurants, it's not worth spending the $$ at the hotel, $50 for 3 Piña Coladas and a plate of nachos....ouch!

I'm usually not very picky with hotels but I really can't recommend this hotel. the positive things first: it's onlt 1 hour away from the airport, beautiful loquillo beach is only five minutes away by car, it's close to highway 3 so easily to reach, it's clean, the italian restaurant serves really good food. here are the negatives: - one day there was a water outage and AC outage. I understand that this can happen. But I expect in these cases that guests are informed what is happening, when they think it will be resolved. In our case there was NO info, they didn't say what was going on, when asking they didn't know when it will work again, they just closed all restaurants in the main building without telling people. eventually we got a 4 75 credit to our bill. I'd have preferred more proactive information though. - there is nothing around the hotel, nothing. we had a car. if you don't have, you have to buy expensive drinks and food there. - there is no minibar in the rooms. - the food they sell at this coffee bar is old and dry (my bagel felt like 5 days old) and cost me $ 4.50. - the beach is not great, muddy water. for sure no caribbean beach. - guests have to pay for parking $ 15 per night. I for sure don't recommend to go there.

best hotel i stayed at

The room size was great but the were ants everywhere. The room wasn't the best, there's an ugly stain on lampshade, a valance of stain from humidity under the painted wall. Dusty at the top of the valance to balcony, also. I happened to bring my own bath sheet and it disappeared and never found after the first night, I should've put it away in my things. So this was an average experience but the rest of the hotel was great! Maybe we were just a little unlucky! This was room 6106.
