Hotel Il Guercino - بولونيا

The room looked like we were stepping back in to the 70's, but the bathroom looked like it had been updated in the past 1-2 years. It was a 20 minute walk to central Bologna, but only a 10-15 minute walk to the train stration. The staff was helpful, and recommended an amazing restaurant for our first night in Bologna.

Spent three nights at Il Guercino and overall had a pleasant stay. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive. The only negatives were that our bathroom smelled of mold and there wasn't a lift on our side of the building to get our luggage to the third floor. Nevertheless, it's in good, safe location and is a short walk to the city center. Would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast contains all necessities.

I would come back. The staff were friendly and helpful, but most of all I was in walking distance of everything.I was traveling by myself, so the room was small, but what does one person need.

Nice hotel with a warm and a comfortable atmosphere. If you like a special hotel with charm -instead of eg a chain formula hotel with standard the same room- choose this one! If we will visit Bologna again, we will choose this hotel again!

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, close to central train station in exactly 15 min walking distance. I was originally allocated to a room where the ventilation system switch was broken, so the reception desk gave me another room which was very clean and comfortable. Later I stayed one more night, not in the original plan, so moved to another room which was equally clean and comfortable. The latter two rooms were elegantly arranged with styles, so I really felt comfortable. Starting along the nearby Via Giacomo Matterotti, Piazza Maggiore, 'the city's principal focus' can be reached by going south straight without any round-a-corner turnings.

Very nice hotel, got upgrated to a room with jacuzzi because the hotel jacuzzi was out of order. Near the center and good breakfast (7 euro).

Great Hotel, very quirky. Close to raliway station, if you are intending to visit other places such as Venice or Verona and even closer places like Parma or Modena which are only about an hour away. Lovely staff on reception. If you are on room only then you are only a short stroll from the main road and a variiety of coffee shops for breakfast. The 25a or 25b bus runs down Via Independence to the main road just close to the hotel. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we would and have recommended it to others.

For the price that we paid, this has been the worst hotel that we have ever stayed in. The rooms were very small, with no closets (just an iron rack with some hangers), no drawers. The lighting was horrific. In order to read a map we had to put a chair in the very small bathroon to get some light. In other words, it was awful.

Do not go to this hotel - the girl on reception was horrible - so rude and that was even before we saw our room. We had booked a triple room- and we were given a double bed and a sofa - she would not even make the double bed into two twin beds - horrible hotel

Rooms were perfect. 10/15 minute walk into main city centre and 5 minutes to the train station. Staff were lovely and we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed in 6 different hotels in northern Italy over 2 weeks. Was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, for the money we paid compared to others in the area, it was a very good value.

This place was really cool and I would recommend it to anyone. It's close to the train station, so it's got a good location on that end, but it is a bit far from the city center. It's probably a 15-20 minute walk, which can be pretty hot in Bologna in the summer, and strenuous if you end up making the walk a few times per day. Still, all in all, this was a really wonderful hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was had some cool artsy features and overlooked the internal courtyard of our building. The entire hotel was pretty stylish, I rather enjoyed that part of my stay. I would definitely recommend and go back.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute little hotel, which is an easy walk from the train station. All of the rooms are decorated differently, with nice furniture and crazy wallpaper. Staff were incredibly friendly. There was unfortunately construction on the building next door going on outside of our first room, but the hotel was very accomodating and moved us to a different room. We had a great experience here and would definitely stay again.

This utterly charming hotel was a great find. The air conditioning was heavenly, we loved the electric kettle for making coffee and tea, and the jacuzzi tub was exquisite. The staff is very friendly, the decor is lovely, and the bed extremely comfortable. The great benefit, though, was that fact that is on a very quiet street in a lovely neighborhood, but not far from access to other parts of town. We walked to the train station the day we left.

I stayed for a couple of nights while visiting the Ducati factory and Mugello - would use again as the staff were very helpful and even let me park the bike in the courtyard, I have paid a lot more for a lot less!

Hotel was in line with my expectations: affordable price, quiet and clean, free Internet, nice buffet breakfast. A good surprise: there is free overnight parking in the streets around the hotel.

Besides the staff on the afternoon shift, everything was perfect. He wasn't really helpful when we ask about the day pass for bus and he wasn't very helpful in introduction interesting sites. But the evening shift lady was very nice and helpful. Room was fantastic with jacuzzi! it was decorated in a tasteful manner with antique designs. love the hotel a lot. definitely will recommend to my friends.

Il Guercino is a lovely hotel in Bologna in a great location so easy to get to the centre of Bologna and the train station to visit other cities. I really enjoyed my stay there.

I love to stay there as it is clean, cute and convenient. I can borrow a bike to drive around the city, great experience there!

A funky little hotel close to train station (good for day trips) and a short walk from town. Clean comfy rooms and fun decor. Great breakfast.

Got a great deal on this hotel (and a suite upgrade!) which was really handy for the train station & also the car rental places etc. 5 min walk to city centre. How lovely the rooms were came as a very nice surprise, and the staff were really friendly and accomodating. The ambience is really nice and peaceful for the centre of the city. A decent continental breakfast buffet too and a handy corner shop next store. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Bologna.

After a stay in Venice, this hotel seems incredible value. Reception, service and breakfast all good, but our room was a bit quirky, with no view, and no air conditioning - apparently the hot spell had caught them on the hop. Location is OK, but a good long walk to city centre. Plenty of buses, so you do not have to be worn out by the time you get to the centre. Did not try next door restaurant, which may be attached to the hotel, but pretty good pizzeria just round the corner, ideal for a local evening meal after a long day in town. Took advantage of free luggage storage on last day, and taxi to airport for less than 20 euros. Generally a good choice, if you don't mind a bit of a treck into town.

Although 20 min walk to main piazza, it is a flat walk and very interesting with lots of shops and bars to investigate on the way. If you feel a bit weary it's very easy to jump on the bus which run all the time. Hotel room a bit on the small side but clean and comfortable and perfect for a city break. it has a shared balcony area where it is perfect to unwind with a drink at the end of busy day sight seeing, the hotel spirit portions are very generous ! The train station is 5 mins walk. The aero bus runs from the station to the airport every 15 mins. Fantastic place for a city break, Bologna will not disappoint especially if you love food!

Stayed here to visit Maranello which is onyl a hort drive on the moptorway. Enjoyable stay & service was adequate. Free internet a bonus. The old town is very historical but beware that the surrounding area is expensive especially Bar Roberto whcih charges you prices depending on his trade it would appear!

It is a very nice hotel. Clean and the front staff was very helpful. Only about a 10-12 minute walk to the train station. They provided free wifi. Would stay there again.

We were on a 3 weeks visit to Northern Italy...traveling via trains. Arrive late in day 2000/8PM from Padua. From train station take the back exit for/to Via Giacomo Matteotti, up a flight of long stairs (may not be the best way if you have heavy suitcases). Hotel is located away from the city center and therefore in neighbourhood behind the train station. We were assigned room 604 with the best sleeping bed of our whole trip (11 hotels). They offer 2 Euro internet and 6 Euro per person breakfast (which we didn't try). Room needed minor repairs.

We stayed at this hotel a couple yrs ago and we loved it so we booked it again this trip, however, this time Our room smelled of sewer and the breakfast had changed. This time the cappuccinos were out of a machine and tasted disgusting and the woman kept coming over and touching all the pastries in the warming bin ( I'm assuming to make sure they were staying warm?) They also provided warm milk for cereal.

We were only there for 2 nights, but we felt so comfortable there! We had the most beautiful bedroom which was stylish and clean. The only thing I would say is that expect to get woken up around 7am by maid service hovering around your door - we put the Do Not Disturb sign out front and it was fine, just a little noisy from time to time. But that's me nitpicking, really! Staff on the front desk always greeted us with a smile and were happy to help in any way they could. Overall, highly recommended! It's a very central location so the train station and centre of town is within easy reach. Go here now!

Great little hotel and a bargain price. The location I thought was perfect even though it wasn't in the centre this made it nice and quiet. Close to the train station and only a 10-15min stroll into the centre. Room was very clean and quiet with aircon. The staff are very friendly. We didn't have breakfast there but used the little "bar" next door which is excellent and cheap because its not touristy. We felt like proper Italians!!

The hotel is extremely affordable. I thought perhaps an error was made. You most certainly get more value for your money then you might possibly expect. The hotel is located a short walk from the train station. It is very elegant inside. The staff is extremely professional and they were very helpful. They also offer internet service. The room was beautiful with a large bathroom and also air conditioning. I was extremely comfortable and I would definitely stay there again. It was peaceful and quiet and I rested very nicely there. I have stayed at hotels that have charged twice the price or more and I did not feel as comfortable or fekt that I was getting value out of what I was paying for. This hotel gets an A+.

The hotel location is a few minutes walk (no need for taxi or other transport) from the inner city which is where you want to be when visiting Bologna, but the standard of the hotel and staff of the hotel makes up for any such minor inconvenience. The rooms are spacious and AC and other conveniences in top condition. The staff are very helpful and friendly which helped us sort out some mistakes we had made with our rental car booking amongst others. The breakfast is not quite up to the standard of the rest of the hotel, so go out and find a nice Panini shop or Bar to have breakfast.

This was a very pleasant hotel at a very reasonable price. It was clean, functional and had interesting decor (in a good way). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the overnight parking was not expensive. It was a 15 minute walk to the centre of Bologna, perfect for getting a feel of the city and the area and perfect for walking off a fantastic heavy dinner. The area felt safe and secure. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were well received in the hotel and the reception area is extremely attractive with antique and interesting furniture and decoration. The entire public areas of the hotel are light, colourful and decorated with interesting art and artefacts. The room was comfortable and spacious with good facilities. The location was also good away from the town centre a little bit but very accessible. We walked from the train station to reach it. We only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was well priced and a comprehensive buffet in a lovely space. The hotel felt good.

The hotel is a few blocks walk from the train station and a walkable distance from the historic center of the city. It is tucked away in an alley. The lobby is very elegant. We had to wait till 3 to check in but hotel stored our bags in the luggage room. The air conditioner leaked dripped water in the night creating a slippery path to the bathroom. Room was small but comfortable.

The hotel was not too far from Bologna Station where the airport bus dropped us. We were too early for the room to be ready, but we were able to leave our luggage and then go out. The hotel is very quirky and attractive with lots of art and interesting things. Our room had epilepsy-inducing wallpaper, but was pleasant and clean and mercifully, air-conditioned. The price was good and it wasn't too far to walk into town. I'd recommend it as a better- than -usual budget choice.

This hotel is great, our room was brilliant. The bed was comfortable, loved the bathroom with the huge shower head, and the in room fridge was great for keeping my drinks cold! The breakfast was an additional cost although well worth it. All the staff were very friendly. I couldn't get the internet from my room (was on the top floor though) although it was easily accessible from the very comfortable sofas downstairs in reception!

I thought this was a really good place. It's very accessible, a five minute walk from the train station, and a fifteen minute walk up the main street to the main square. The staff at the reception were all multi-lingual, pleasant, and very happy to help with anything. The room itself was a decent size, air-conditioned, comfortable and cleaned every day. There was good WiFi, and it was really cheap as well (five hours for 2 euro). I would recommend this to anyone.

My sister and I stayed in this hotel for two nights. It was 35 degrees celsius in Bologna at the time and the air conditioning didn't work in our room (the temp gauge said it was 31 in our room). We complained to the manager and he told us it was working and refused to help or move us. We were so hot in our room we had to cover ourselves in wet towels and prop our door open to let the cooler air of the hallway flow in. We got no sleep and complained again in the morning so they moved us to a new room, which was air conditioned! He did not apologise, offer any discount or even give us our breakfast for free - all he said was that 'he slept fine'. In saying that though, the hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms are large. But it's in a dodgy area of town that isn't safe at night, and the breakfast is not worth the money. We won't be returning any time soon and I strongly encourage others to book somewhere else!

Very convenient for the station and a nice walk to the Piazza Maggiore. Very quirky and eclectic decorative style but very serviceable. High ceiling could do with dusting and be warned about aircraft noise from the nearby airport.
