This older hotel had charm, a great location, and an outstanding front desk staff. Their wine reception was also a nice touch. The room was comfortable but had older plumbing with slow drains. Our room was ready early the first day, but it had not been cleaned yet the next day when we returned from sightseeing. On the other hand, every request we made was cheerfully accommodated.

I enjoyed my stay; however, I would not pay full price for the hotel.

The Hotel Burnham is in a beautiful building situated a couple of blocks from Milennium Park and is close to an El station. It is close to the theatre district and Macy's department store. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee are available every morning in the lobby and there is a wine reception every evening. Our room was very good apart from the beds only being double size - a King or Queen size bed would have been preferable. The Hotel restaurant is pricy but very nice. It was fairly noisy at night, with emergency vehicles etc passing the hotel. We would stay there again though.

This hotel may not be the best choice for you if you have toddlers; they do not have a chain or a door guard on their doors and my 2 year old kept opening the door and going out until we blocked the door with a suitcase.

The building in which the Burnham is located is a wonderful example of elegant old Chicago architecture. Its staff is warm and friendly, and the rooms are very comfortable. It also has a very good restaurant. It is located just a few blocks from Chicago's wonderful Millennium Park. It is also close to train lines running to and from O'Hare airport and along the South Shore, making it very convenient for travelers without cars. We enjoyed our stay there very much.

i stayed here for business. picked the hotel because it was one of the decent choices and close to the office. being in the financial area, everything seems to close by 8pm. not that much going on after that around this neighborhood. one good thing is the hotel is close to the park. although if i was staying in chicago for leisure, i would not pick this location. another issue i had was ordering room service. the menu is very limited. ironically, the food is made by the restaraunt downstairs but the entire menu is not available for room service. so if you want something off the actual restaraunt menu, them directly. didn't get that at all... the rooms are relatively small but do offer floor to ceiling windows and high ceilings which doesn't make it seem cramped. the bathroom is a bit outdated and really small. hardly any counter surface. best part of the stay was the exceptional staff! they truly go above and beyond to make their guests happy.

I loved our stay at the Hotel Burnham. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond our expectations of friendliness and helpfulness. The wine reception and desk staff were very helpful with suggesting dinner spots, even offering to call to inquire about waiting times and reservations. I loved the wine reception--it might not seem like a big deal, but the lobby is so charming that I really appreciated the opportunity to spend time there. The night life in the loop isn't exactly thriving, but being only a few blocks south of the river means that it is an easy walk to some incredible restaurants, bars, and live music venues. Finally, it was so fun to stay in a hotel that was the first real skyscraper (steel beam construction) ever built (designed by the great Chicago architect Daniel Burnham). It was fun to see our hotel featured in the Chicago Cultural Center's exhibit on important architecture. I have spent plenty of time downtown Chicago, but this hotel still managed to exceed my expectations. If you are looking for a reasonable price and friendly staff, if you enjoy immersing yourself in Chicago's cultural and architectural history, or if you just want a charming urban experience, consider this hotel!

who likes chains ... I don't .. but my experience with the The Burnham proofed me that there are exceptions. From the moment of the welcome to the check-out, I could feel that the staff cares... therefore, I recommend this hotel anytime .. and will stay again when in Chicago!

The hotel was wonderful. The place is ful of character and charm. It's close to everything I wanted to see (Millenium Park, Chicago Art Institute, Macy's) and close enough to the El for places that weren't nearby including the airport. Staff was courteous and friendly. Atwood Cafe had an interesting menu, wonderful decor and good food for the lunch and breakfast we enjoyed there. Wine reception hour was a bonus. Why would you want to stay anywhere else.

Great renovation, classic building; perfect for business stay; within easy walking distance of federal courthouse, Art Institute of Chicago, Millenium Park, Loop shopping, Miracle Mile shopping. Very friendly personal service. A nice find!

Very nice hotel and great location. It was nice and quiet and staff was very friendly and helpful. The Atwood cafe had a very good breaksfast. Enjoyed our stay..Also close to the Millenineum station as we took the train into Chicago.

With a winter sale rate, and the location, this is a great value.

Our stay at Hotel Burnham was wonderful. It is a very quaint older but very well maintained hotel. You even get an actual key to your room rather than a plastic card because they want to keep the classic feeling of the hotel. The staff is remarkable and very attentive. We could not have been happier with our stay and it was the perfect location to dine at Petterino's and to a play at the Goodman. I would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Beaufitully restored hotel in heart of downtown. They have cut back, however, on service with less people up front and less individualized attention than in past. Still a unique hotel and a great way to see downtown Chicago.

A little bobble when checking in under time constraint to make curtain at the Lyric. Treated friends to your lovely hotel and was bummed they didn't get State Street view, but it was rectified while we enjoyed the show!

Great location in The Loop. 1 block to two different EL stations; short walk to the river and Millenium Park. Hotel has classic, early-1900s look with a modern touch. Attractive room. Friendly staff and check-in. Afternoon wine reception a nice touch. Good restaurant in lobby. Smallish reception and gym.

Awesome place! Within walking distance to Theater District, just a $6 cab ride from union station. Hotel was renovated with lots of unique features: cast iron gate decorations, marble staircase, the room decor was far different that the average hotel. Had a complimentary wine reception at 5pm! Great way to start off the evening. Would definitely recommend to colleagues!!

We enjoyed being so close to the Art Institute, the shopping on State Street and theaters.

We switched from the Palmer House to the Burnham and have zero regrets. The size is great and the service is very personal.

Beautiful, unique and historic! I thought I was in a different era. The room was extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. The only negative was that there wasn't a coffee machine in the room. Otherwise, it was the perfect experience!

Mentioned to the desk staff that we were staying for our anniversary. Came home from a show to find a bottle of champagne chilling on the nightstand. Pretty classy touch. We'll be back.

Great location for what we wanted to do. Clean room but on the small side. Room service wasn't very good and it was pricey. Though everyone we encountered was very nice.

Great experience! From staff to location to amenities to comfort!!

We live in Chicago and came down to the Hotel Burnham for our anniversary. Our first room was small with low ceiling and across from a brick wall! Luckily, they were able to place us in another room that had a nice view and nice details. My wife thought the bed was too soft and had trouble sleeping at night. As for the architecture.. the place is a real gem. They did a nice job redoing the lobby, the marble staircase and elevators. All in all, a nice hotel- be sure to not stay in any of the X10 (410-710) rooms.

Right in the city center and close to Michigan Ave. It is a lovely historic hotel and the bed was really soft and comfortable. Aveda bath products (wish they had the face wash tho). Ate BK at their resto downstairs (it was a nice setting but food was ok). Great hotel - would def. go back!

Great hotel in a great location. It's not a huge fancy place, but it is elegant and upscale while still being fun and comfortable. Rooms small but clean and very warm and cozy. All the details are considered, from great clothes hangers in the closet to a dimmer switch in the bathroom. The restaurant has an excellent breakfast/brunch, and with free coffee, newspapers, and wine (from 5-6pm) in the lobby, it's almost as good as being home. Would stay there again, and plan to every time I'm in Chicago.

Lovely restored hotel in excellent location, great food,and service that cannot be beat. The concierge and check in staff will meet your every need, and the hotel has a "home" feel, vs the large corporate chains.

The roon was to small it was very hard to acomodate two people in it

Beautiful building; great service; fun location

I've stayed 2 nights in the hotel. It is perfectly located in the Loop, less than 5 minutes walk from Millennium park, a minute walk to Red/Blue underground lines and 2 mins from EL Train. Less than 15 mins walk from the Magnificent Mile. Atwood cafe on the ground floor had nice selection of meals, and I found pork belly very nice, mmmm... Kids alert - Disney store is just across the road - be forewarned. Room was nice and comfortable, however a bit small I thought, and bathroom had slight issues with the showers, but other than that was excellent. Also, it's quiet overall, I was on the 15th floor (out of 15) and had no problems sleeping even though it's very central and my room was facing the street. Final note - make sure you visit the Bean/Cloud Gate in the Millennium Park - it's straight down the street - I've been 3 times there during my short stay. It brings smile to my face even now when I think about it.
