Close to alot of attractions, and the staff is nice. WIFI is good enough to skype, hotel food is alittle $ but good.

The hotel has been going through a renovation for a while now and is almost complete. I loved it before and it is even nicer now. Our room was outstanding and compared to comparable hotels in Manila a very reasonable rate. As usual the staff made sure anything we asked for we received quickly. The included breakfast buffet was also quite satisfying. I have read negative reviews for this hotel that I absolutely will refute and as far as the neighborhood goes, well it is Manila, so you must know what you are in for, however I felt perfectly safe walking anywhere day or nighttime. We ate dinner one night around the corner at Restaurante D'Amore and it was excellent as well.

Excellent Hotel. No issues with the Location. I felt safe but I am also 6'3" 220 and feel comfortable in situations that others may not. There lots of tourists here and obviously they felt safe as well. Staff goes over the Top in service (5 stars) and are the friendliest and most helpful I have seen at a Best Western, well beyond my expectations. Highly recommend

Although the hotel room was nice for two people. We had two children so, the room got small pretty quick. The staff was very nice and the service was nice also. The restaurant was clean and had a very cheery staff. We enjoyed the stay but cut it short because the room was too small for two adults and to children. The surrounding area is not nice. Too many beggars and dirty streets. The beggars however were not dangerous or overly pesky. We were visiting from Bangkok,Thailand and the Bangkok streets are cleaner. I would stay at the hotel again if I were alone or just with my wife.

Currently no elevator as it is being renovated, but staff carried our bags to the 5th floor and with a smile on their faces. Early Check in has been given to us twice in this hotel (8 am) despite the hotel being fully booked the night before. First check out and they gave priority to make our room available ASAP. This was greatly appreciated and gave us a chance to catch a couple of hours of sleep after night travel and still go out and explore Manila after noon. Extremely nice staff, always smiling and wishing you a good day/night etc. Only negative was that our booking special of free upgrade of the room was not honored- however I think this is hotel.com's fault as the special offer from the booking was not reflected on documentation given to hotel. And I did not push it as I was happy about my early check in.

Great hotel, goood value for money.

We stayed here our last night in Manila. The room was clean, internet was fast and location was OK. Walking distance to Robinson Mall and Manila Bay, although they were working on the sidewalks and had fences up so you could not see the water. We did not eat in the restaurant, but the menu looked great! The elevator was not working but the bell boys carried our bags to the third floor without any hesitation. Very friendly, pleasant staff and we would stay here again.

This hotel is close to the NAIA airport, Robinson's Plaza and the Mall of Asia. It has an extremely nice staff compared to other hotels in the area,. The elevator was being replaced which was a minor problem while I was there but this renovation should be completed by the end of March 2012. It is a good value for the price -- clean rooms, well maintained, and an included breakfast.

The hotel staff was very accommodating. We knew that the elevator was down for repairs when we booked the hotel, so that was not a negative factor. Anytime we needed assistance with cabs or with the hotel shuttle the hotel staff was there for us. Good food in the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was adequate. We would definitely stay there again, especially when the elevator is fixed. :)

The hotel is extremely good. I have used it numerous times for myself and my university students when we come to the Philippines for research. It is convenient to the airport and historic Manila, although one must be careful in the surrounding neighborhood, since it is a crowded tourist area with some persistent beggars. The complimentary breakfast is the best I have had in Manila, the rooms are nice, and the service personnnel (particularly in the restaurant and the bellmen) are fantastic. The price is very reasonable for Manila.

Nice hotel, clean decently rated and good service. They provided baby kot for our 15months kid too. Elevator in maintenance until febr2012 though ! Only disappointment was hotel surrounding, i was not expecting a sterilised environment at all but just a bit more of culture than bars / KTV... maybe if i was still bachelor my review would have been different... on the neighourhood !

For the money you pay, this hotel is worth it. Other hotels in Manila are very expensive and not worth the cost considering other Asian countries near-by. This hotel is well kept with a clean room and amenities. Be aware there was no elevator but they are in the process of building one. The staff are very friendly and helpful. However, the neighbourhood is not that great (especially at night). If you have been out all day, then best to travel back via taxi.

Overall, a really nice place to stay. The service was excellent and all of the staff was very accommodating. The breakfast buffet was very good and had a nice selection. Location was ok, but we walked around even after dark, with no problem. I would recommend this hotel and will stay there again the next time we are in Manila.

Old, noisy, uncomfortable Room was on main street. traffic noise was unbearable all night. Bed was horrible. Sheets and pillow cases were old, grey, discolored. Restaurant food was bad. Room was way overpriced.

Took taxi from Makati (Rustan's) to go to hotel. Neighborhood may be a bit scary for a lone woman because of quite shady (bars/lounges) in the area. But it was safe since there is much traffic in the street fronting it. I like its location because of its proximity to several places of historical interest: Rizal Park (Luneta), Manila Hotel, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila Cathedral, Manila Bay, etc. During stay, elevator did not work and it was hot outside the room, in corridors/stairways (I was on 4th floor). It was cooler during Saturday though. Also, it was not a breakfast buffet as advertised in the HOTELS.COM website (until Saturday). Still i would recommend it overall. - Gadfly147

I loved every minute in the hotel. But do NOT step outside the front door and try to walk anywhere. The surrounding neighborhood is bad. Very bad. And that is ashamed because the staff of the hotel was incredible! They deserve so much better. The hotel has a 5 star staff attending your every whim. I highly recommend this hotel and this staff to anyone. They have a doorman that will get you a taxi. Use him and know where you are going. Lock the doors and keep the windows up in the taxi. And you will be fine. But do not go sight seeing in the surrounding neighborhood alone. You will have problems if you do.

Staff was excellent, very helpful

it was OK. Room is clean. Elevator was old but nice and traditional. Breakfast was greasy and not many choices. The problem is that I don't like daily food in Manila. Bread is always too old and dry. Milk is never fresh. Coffee tastes wrong. Juice is too sweet. Flied egg and other fried food is too greasy. I enjoyed the stay in the room of this hotel. Staff are so nice and well trained. But I would choose another hotel next time. There are many better hotels in the same area in same price. One thing they can do is to improve breakfast.

The room was small, and furnishings rundown, and overall poor value for money if compared to similiar price in other Asean capitals. Lucky, the service was good, attentive and friendly, and made up a bit for the poor value rooms. May stay there again, if only for the location, but probably try to find another that gives better value for money.

Stayed for 4 nights. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff at this location were simply great. Always smiling with the upmost politeness! Price was OK for we stayed elswhere that cost more and rooms were of less quality. They could improve on the breakfast, it was not bad nor good. The small, old elevator is a hoot! It works but I feel I am in the 30's! It should be in a muesuem! I would recommend this place if you want an affordable room. The neighborhood isn't that great but don't run the streets at night! Thanks.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel a number of times now and everyone on the staff has been wonderful. But during this stay my wife was in a wheelchair. Rica, the front desk supervisor, made sure we had a room directly in front of the elevator to make things easier for us. When we would come down to the restaurant or go back to our room their was always someone to move the small ramp from one set of steps to the other to make moving as easy as possible. Ryan, the most attentive waiter I have ever seen, was constantly making sure that my wife had anything she needed or wanted. He rarely waited for us to ask for something, rather he was almost always there anticipating our needs. I have read other reviews concerning the surrounding neighborhood and have come to the conclusion that the people who complain have not done much travelling and certainly not in the Philippines. I walked 3 times to Robinsons, a beautiful and huge mall about 5 blocks away and was never accosted or had any problems whatsoever. I have stayed in hotels in Manila in much worse neighborhoods, this one is just fine and if my wife was able to I would have no problem taking her for a walk here. Matter of fact the next time we are here she will hopefully be able to walk again and we will certainly go to Robinsons to shop and eat at some of the at least 50 eateries. Plus just a block and a half away is a very nice Italian restaurant that I will take her to. But not being able to eat out we had no qualms about eating all of our meals at the hotel restaurant. I am a retired chef and I appreciated the wonderful meals they serve. Unlike many restaurants in the Philippines the food here is not overcooked beyond recognition. The salmon was actually still flaky and the beef anise was very tasty. The breakfast buffet is one of the better ones we have enjoyed as well.

Clean, friendly and nicely remodeled hotel. While other have a pretty face like have five star lobbies. they have one star rooms. La Corona rooms were spacious, clean and modern.

Not inexpensive but much more reasonable then many of the top hotels with the same amenities. The only problem is they only have 7 suites so you must book ahead if you want one as they are well worth the price. If an attentive, smiling and courteous staff is important you must stay here.

This hotell is simple but clean and comfortable with a good breakfast buffet and a convenient location, a short walk from U.S. Embassy. Street in front is somewhat shabby and full of 24-hour girlie bars. But room was quiet. Also an easy walk to shopping areas. Free wifi service was a plus.

the hotel was clean but older,, staff was very good..but the neighborhood was not so nice.. ok for a single guy but didnt feel so safe walking at night ..homeless people sleeping on streets

This little hotel was a very pleasant stay,due in large part to the friendly, hard working staff. the food was very good....weather it was the compementary breakfast or dinner. Not the nicest surroundings ...but the neatness of the hotel and overall comfort made up for it .

The hotel is rather hidden in a maze of other buildings and signs just off United Nations Avenue. It is very unassuming in its location and setting, but it is rather like a small, happy place. The staff are genuinely very pleasant and helpful people, who tend to any of your requests with service always in mind. The bellman and assistants are always available for information and assistance. I was pleasantly surprised to see view the interior of the hotel because it is much as one would expect to find a restored Spanish hacienda with modern ammenities amidst its historic culture. It was a charming setting. My room was a continuation of the theme and very comfortable. The hotel staff was comfortable with providing service for luggage and a home base for my late departure to the airport.

This is a wonderful hotel, set in a not too affluent part of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was bright and clean, and the breakfast was plentiful and diverse. I had read the reviews online, and was a little skeptical as there were mixed reviews. However, as a frequent business traveller, the hotel is NOT a business travellers hotel. This is a hotel for when YOU have to pay. I loved it, and would readily go back there again.

We had stayed in two other hotels, one in Manila and one in Batanges, which were not bad but the hotel room we had in the Best Western (302) was simply good. Very large, huge bed, nice bathroom with rain shower and, very important, clean. Our room was not located on the street side and therefore relatively quiet. Daily new water bottles as the tap water is not reliable. The breakfast buffet was ok (two days even with a cook to prepare an omelette) but the service was excellent. Some reviewed complain about the neighbourhood but it is safe to walk outside, lot of restaurants nearby (UN-street) and a small 7-11 shop for a can of beer or a bottle of wine. On the streets you will see the extreme poverty, some “professional ladies” and some kids begging for money but that is how things are in this type of countries. Tip: Don’t look at the beggars. Simply ignore them and they will stop after a few seconds. The moment they have eye-contact, they will not give up.

Everyone talks about the small old elevator being a problem. I loved it. Brought back memories and I never really waited too long. The staff was awesome. The breakfast was great and they would make your eggs the way you like them. Just ask. People were worried about the neighborhood, it's the Philippines. That's the way it is. Go to the Hobbit right down the street. You will love it. The room was a little small, but you get use to it. We stayed 9 days and everything was just fine. It is worth the money.

The price is great and you get what you paid for. Everything is there for you to be comfortable enough. Free bottles of water for you to brush your teeth with, since there is a sign stating to not drink water from the tab. Free internet in room, a safe box, free breakfast. Seems like cheaper hotel gives you more free stuff than the high-end ones! I had paid $15-$30 USD for one day internet at hotels like Sheraton and Conrad... Location-wise, there are two 7-11's near by. A Wendy's, a Jollibee's and Mang Inasal across the street. If you walk East, it gets shady, especially at night. We walked around without anyone bothering us but almost tripped over people sleeping on the side walk a few times because it was dark, seeing babies sleeping in push carts with dogs/cats lurking around. You want to walk South (or rather take a cab because it's not that close), towards the Hyatt to get some night life. Lots of restaurants, bars and massage places, well lit and busy. There is a mall too near the Hyatt. I think it's the Robinson Mall, with a food court that I heard is good.

This hotel is maybe not the cheapest in Manila, but it is really a good place. With the room you get: - a free breakfast every morning - wifi included - a safe in your room The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was quite big and convenient. It is located in Ermita, which is maybe not the best place for nightlife (Makati and Malate are far and you need a cab), but you can go to Rizal Park on foot without any problem. For me, only one thing need to be improved: guests should be aware that there is a 1500 PHP caution to pay the first day, in case you take something from the minibar. While I would not recommend this hotel to backpackers (too expensive, and it is easy to find cheaper place), if you are okay to pay more for more comfort, it is definitely a place to go.

Enjoyed the stay and will probably go back in January when I return to the Philippines.

First I must say that this is the first best western hotel I have stayed, so I am unsure how this compared to ones stateside. After reading the glowing reviews of this hotel, I decided to book a room at this establishment. For a budget hotel, I think it would meet one's expectation. However, if you were to expect anything more, I think you will be dissapointed. Location-wise, it is located in a seedily area. If you are coming from the airport, it would be best to tell the driver to head to the US Embassy and then work your way to the hotel. Given it's location, most drivers will have a difficult time in finding this hotel. And although the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, it does not makeup for the hotel's basic facilities. Poor working elevator and unreliable Internet connection detracts from the hotel ratings.

The staff are very polite, attentive, and accommodating. Rooms are spacious and the bathroom is very clean. Complimentary tea/coffee/water, toilettries, and fast wifi access are a huge plus. You may also request for extra pillows and sheets, free of charge! The breakfast, however, could use some improvement..but it's delightful just the same. There's only one elevator, quite old and slow. Overall, my stay in Best Western Hotel La Corona was superb! Will definitely return.

This hotel lies in the Malate area of Manila, right in the middle of a popular toursit-area. The hotel itself is ok, good location and clean inside, yet some of the rooms are old and really need to be renovated. My first room was renovated, but since I requested a smoking-room I was moved to another room which was not yet renovated. Atleast it was clean though. One good thing about the hotel is that they provide free wifi-access. The hotel have only one elevator and it's very old, almost like antique and moves way to slow. Breakfast is good for being just a regular tri-star hotel, but all in all there are better hotels in the same area at much lower cost. The cost of the rooms is just to high; 3000 php for a socalled deluxe room is to much, especially when one knows that just around the block lies City state tower which all in all is a much better hotel (also tristar), at much lower cost.

La Corona would be a nice place to stay if their beds were not like sleeping on a bed of gravel. The rest of the service could use some work too. Such as, when I secured this room I was under the impression that it was paid in full, but, when I arrived, very, very, tired I had to pay out more money to get into the room and then pay extra for the breakfast we had. I hope they will fix these things then I woulf consider a revisit to them.

I chose this hotel for its central location and was not disappointed. Everything I wanted was just a walk away: restaurants, turo-turo and other street food, very many banks, a karaoke bar, a mall and supermarket, etc. Some historical places are also nearby or just a jeepney ride away, and it's surrounded by embassies if you happen to need to visit one of those. I stayed in a suite on the upper floors, which was nice and large and had a corner balcony just wide enough to stand in to watch the sunset. They offer a good breakfast buffet, serving various hot dishes such as galunggong, scrambled eggs, tocino, bacon, soup or congee, rice, breads, fresh fruit and juice. The available items changed slightly each day so it did not become tedious during an extended stay. In-room Internet access worked well, and they had some 110V sockets in the room so you don't need a converter for American electrical appliances. The bathroom included a nice large tub and a hand bidet hose. They have one of the tiniest elevators I've ever seen, a quaint antique type with the metal lattice that slides to the side (but if you're in a hurry, it might be quicker to take the stairs). The staff were always pleasant and helpful and able to recommend places to go and things to do and see. The room overlooked an intersection that was busy 24 hours per day, yet blocked out most of the traffic noise. By far, the biggest drawback was the disturbance from the mosque across the street, with wails bellowing from a loudspeaker throughout the day but starting at 4:30 IN THE MORNING.

cLEAN,great staff,polite fast service,Location looks bad but we were perfectly safe. Restaurant weak but within a $3.00 cab ride great fresh seafood and another restaurant Bario Festiva has truly great Philipino food and seafood. I highly recommend the hotel

I felt like I was a millionaire because of the very courteous service I received at this hotel. This place has old world class. I wish all hotels could be so great. Check in was done quickly and I was assisted up the old antique elevator (after I used the stairs, though), I ate a nice dinner in their hotel restaurant. I couldn't finish all my food, so they were kind enough to pack it up for me to have if I got hungry later in my room. The room was beautifully decorated with dark wood and a large bed. The bathroom was very clean and had a rainwater-type shower head. There were many mirrors in the room, which served to make the room feel bigger. The buffet breakfast next morning was really great - it had a good selection and really filled me up. They have a small travel desk where they give advice on places to see in Manila. The man at the desk was very helpful with giving me directions. All in all, this hotel is VERY good. I was given the BEST service I have EVER had in any hotel in the world. Top Quality and HIGHLY recommended.
