Booked this hotel in a room with king bed and courtyard view but when we arrived they said they only had one room left with a double bed. The room was on the ground floor next to the lobby so was noisy and had a big window looking into the carpark which shone light into our room all night. We were given free parking for the night because of the stuff up but really that did not make the stay any more enjoyable. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.

This hotel stay was a birthday present to me given by my mother to include two of my college aged friends. Even though I just turned nineteen, I was treated with respect like an adult. My friends and I loved the hotel, especially the location to the pier, beach and 3rd Street Promenade. We would definitely go back...especially if my mother paid again.

great ocean view, not much else

We had a fairly large tree directly across the street which obstructed our straight ahead view of the ocean but the north and south directions were good. Location was very close to lots of shopping and dining. No pool, which would have been nice (even though the ocean was across the street).

Comfortable hotel - fantastic location - friendly staff. The upgrade to ocean view is WELL worth it- gorgeous.

This was a perfect first hotel to go to after flying into LA from Melbourne. They let us check in early so that we could have a nap and everything was walking distance which was nice. The bathroom (especially the taps) were a bit old but no real issues. Great stay.

This was by far the perfect location for our stay. We wanted to be close to the ocean and close to shopping and restaurants. We parked our car for the duration of our stay and walked or rented bikes to get to the beach, the pier, Venice, farmers market, shopping and restaurants. It was great! And quiet!

This is a scam. Hotel is over rated, too expensive, very noisy, rooms are old and they charge extra for ocean view even you will end up to stare other building cross the street and hear traffic noise all evening / night long. Stuff was unfriendly. Location is good, close to Santa Monica’s Third Street, new mall and beach but you can find better places to stay.

We selected this hotel because of it's location, which was great. Walking distance to the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. Within 2-3 blocks you also have good shopping, many restaurants, and the neighbourhood is safe to walk in at all hours of the day. There were some homeless people, but if you leave them alone they leave you alone as well. The hotel in itself had all the services needed, it was clean but quite old. You pay for the location, so despite the price not a great hotel - just average.

Definately will be coming back again. Hotel was great, location was great, staff were great.

After two nights near LAX, we stopped in Santa Monica on our way back to Northern California. Ocean View was convenient to everything: beach, boardwalk, and pier. We requested a smoking room and got a room with a balcony which was even better!

Other than waiting for our room to be ready when we arrived 1 1/2 hours after check- in, the stay and crew were lovely. Nice rooms, beautiful ocean view.

I am very particular in regards to cleanliness and customer service, the Ocean View was a great hotel for both, I didn't have any issues at all with the room and felt like I received tremendous value compared to other hotels in the area, especially considering the location of this hotel. The parking is very convenient as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel with a great location that is affordable and clean.

Great stay!! its a lil old but if you like the style of vintage u will love it!!

Very good location in Santa Monica - easy to reach beach and, if you get a a sea view, pleasant outlook. Comfortable beds and decent room, excellent WiFi connection. But other than that, very basic facilities.

Stayed Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in an ocean view room with a balcony on the 4th floor. The view was great and the sunset that night happened to be amazing! The hotel was well maintained and the staff very friendly. On site parking was convenient and was priced at only $20/day. This definitely isn't the fanciest hotel nor is it anywhere near the cutting edge of interior design, but the lobby is quite nice--simply changing the paint colors on the walls would bring the lobby up-to-date. The elevators and common spaces were clean and well maintained. The location is great: a short walk across the street (hotel is also near the crosswalk) to the pier and the beach; also a very short walk to the Third Street Promenade. Definitely recommend.

I made my reservation with hotel.com arrived at hotel 8 PM it was a disaster I went to my room soon as I open the door the carpet has a water damage ahead the big fans of running all the window open for take old Morestre and fungus Smale Out, they offered me last room day had an next-door same condition,just don't believe how they can offer rooms to there custers white condition like that , Maneger offer to pay my money back to hotel .com It's been over 30 days no pay yet , My family we and of found another hotel nearby

I was here for 1 night in transit and wanted to be close to Santa Monica Pier but at a reasonable price. This hotel was only 5 minutes walk away from the Pier. Doesn't exactly have an ocean view but was quiet and clean and the guy on the front desk was lovely. I was able to check-in slightly early which was great after a 13 hour flight. Suited my needs and would stay there again.

Great location and reasonable rooms. Didnt tell us about $20 car park fees although gave us a disocunt for trundle bed.

across the street from Sta Monica Pier and beach...close to shopping and dining, great price.

I stayed at this hotel for a week night in January 2012. The room was over priced for a very loud and uncomfortable nights sleep. The bed was as hard as a rock with scratchy sheets. The room had a great view of the ocean and the Santa Monica Pier, but being able to hear everyone in the adjoining rooms was not pleasant. There is no thermostat on the wall and there was a wall A/C unit, so when the room got a little warm, we opened the window and there was NO SCREEN. I would stay somewhere else.

The price reflects the location not the quality of the accommodations. Staff was perfectly nice, location is convenient, rooms are a bit dated and dinghy.

this hotel has a great view of the beach, however the TV was going out and the refrigerator made a horrible humming sound. the walls are also very thin so you can hear everything and everybody that walks through the hotel. Plus the $20.00 parking for their guests is also a little steep i thought.

Nothing fancy but it does the job. The rooms we had reserved were not available. We had to settle to rooms with a different bed arrangement. It was a pretty busy weekend though. Location was great (close to the beach, the Pier, and the shopping area).

Even though the hotel was walking distance to the beach and the 3rd street promenade, it was not well maintained. Price was not worth it, it was too expensive for a hotel in that condition.

Hotel has terrific comfortable clean rooms--but just "rooms." Does not have other conveniences such as exercise rooms, restaurant, or swimming pool. However, the ocean (great beach) and restaurants are very walking distance. Santa Monica Pier is across the street!

Your pretty much paying for the location...right across is the beach..and the pier is only a block away..shopping is about two blocks away so its all about the location for this holet....overall the hotel was clean but if you like nice looking rooms (i.e., feather bed, plasma TV this is not the place for you). Also, you have to pay for parking so make sure to add that to you expenses.

I guess you get what you pay for, but this hotel would improve greatly with a face lift. Great location and good service are overshadowed by poor room standard. In our case there was very noisy air con but fortunately the staff were happy for us to relocate to another room.

PROS: Awesome location. Close to pier and 3rd St. Mini fridge and safe. CONS: Small beds. No breakfast.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Close to all the many good things about Santa Monica. However, the hotel is a little like a Motel 6. The rooms are not really interior. Also, some of the occupants were very loud around 2 am; crying babies and the like. The rooms were clean and the staff was pleasant.

Great location! literally across the street from the SM pier. Service was excellent and can not beat the price. I highly recommend for a quick get away.

Hotel had great location to beach,shopping and restaurants. Easy accessibility to highways. Hotel itself could use an overhaul. Room was clean but linens were worn..along with furniture.

Reasonable price and a great location - if I was there to party on the beach it would be great. Being there for work changes my opinion significantly...I won't stay there again.

One of the noisest hotels I have ever stayed at. The person in the room directly above us sounded as if they were in our room. The noise in the parking lot outside was bad too. Oh yeah, you have to pay to park at the hotel. Next time, we will pay half the price for a hotel a few miles away and drive down to the beach (since we have to pay for parking anyway).

The room are disgusting, noisy, what they call courtyard is their parking lot, staff very unfriendly and thinking you are just good to pay!!! overnight parking prohibitive!!! Really check out other places in the area as this one is bad for the price you can get better!!!!

A decent hotel with an excellent location. Some staff members were very polite and helpful while others not so. The rooms were slightly outdated but rather clean and nice. If you get with a decent price I can really recommend.

This hotel is located on good circumstances of course. Staffs are good. but It took two days to be able to connect internet with my Mac book pro. It was only problem I had. I like this hotel.

This hotel is close and convenient to sights, restaurants, shopping and transport. Is a little old looking but in great location, clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location and excellent value for money. Lacked frills but had everything you needed after a busy day sight seeing. Staff were very friendly and rectified an issue with the A?C immediately. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for value, good accommodation in an excellent position.
