This hotel is perfect for those who love art but want to be a little bit away from the 'madding crowd'. It is a quieter location than other tourist spots north of the river, but very convenient to the Tube (7 min walk), the Tate Modern (5 min walk), the Globe (7 min walk), the Old & Young Vic (10 min walk). There were lots of hip restaurants and an Marks and Spencer's food store. My room on the 5th floor had a great view of the dome of St. Paul's. My ONLY criticism was that they charged for Wi-Fi access in guest rooms :-(

The room was clean, the breakfast was good even though there was not much variety, the tv remote control did not work properly but this was no big issue. Overall, we were satisfied.

A nice (pretty average) hotel not too far away from the center. The breakfast was a bit of a disappointment (no cheese/ham available in the continental breakfast) but still okay. Could go again.

i find the hotel staff very friendly , and the hotel is good, i wasn't very happy because when i book the room through the hotel.com they put down in the criteria of the room that it will have wifi but when i went i found that i need to pay £2 for just one hour of connection, it was a shock for me !!!!

Hotel is located close to the metro, the rooms are spacious and clean. They serve a great breakfast every morning.

My sister and I sayed at this hotel for three nights in january. Great prices, very polite and helpful staf, breakfast was good (and included!). So far the best "I am here on shopping and won't stay in the room that much"-hotel I've visited!

Decent accomodation in Southwark for resonable price and close to City centre, Borough Market, London Bridge,Tate Mordern, Shakespear Theatre as well as the tube. Hotel is clean and well worth its 3 star rating. Would recommend to anyone

The hotel was in a great location with decent breakfast. Overall I had a good experience.

Overall, very comfortable for the reasonable price paid. A fairly good choice for breakfast but the seating arrangements were rather chaotic, with insufficient space for the number of guests. I tried to sit at a table on two occasions but because of the seating system others got there before me. Needs more staff input with seating guests.

The hotel landings and rooms had dirty carpets and the decor was really shabby. We were in room 209 and the radiator was so noisy it literally kept me awake ALL night - we were moved to another room for the second night where the radiator was noisy also but not quite as bad - I plugged my ears with tissue from the bathroom. There were long queues for breakfast in the morning and insufficient seating and tables. The only redeeming factor was the reception staff and restaurant staff - they were really nice. We have stayed in nicer hotels for less money - even in London.

The hotel was very clean, staff were helpful. Room was small but comfortable. Priced reasonably and a good breakfast.

A really nice hotel in central London location. Close to the tube or just a 30 minute walk to the west end. The rooms were really good for the price. Only criticism was that the bed sheets were stained.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Thames (at Tate and Shakespeare's Globe. The clerks were able to point us toward a few affordable, kid-friendly dining options. The matresses and hide-a-bed are nearing the end of useful life, and some updates could be done in-room. However, the price was great considering the location, and the imcluded breakfast (eggs, cereal, sausage, croissants, etc) was well above expectations. I would definitely return.

Stayed in this hotel in August and I wasn't particularly impressed with the services.The room was not ready when we checked in, breakfast slightly poor with not a lot of choices, not enough tables so had to stand about until somebody finished eating so we could get breakfast as well. Staff did not make any arrangements for us to have a slice of toast and a coffee when we said we were checking out early in the morning. However, this would have been just 20 minutes before they started serving breakfast. Would not stay there again!

very helpful staff, clean compact room great for short stay. unfortunate air conditioning not working during our stay. 30 minute walk to Covent Garden, great for bus routes.

Visited London for a couple of days for a family vacation. The pricing and fairly central location to tourist attractions was the main ressons for choosing the hotel. Tube was only few minutes walk. The area is being redeveloped and there are quite a few new resturaunts and bars close by on the opposite side of the road. Only two complaints - -that the parking bays (which were quite expensive) were tiny and hard to manouvre in and out of - we had two non-smoking rooms. One of them smelled badly of cigarettes.

As a stubborn young new yorker I love to walk everywhere, no matter how far it is. The location of this hotel is great because it is outside of the hustle of central London somewhat , but you can still walk over one of the many bridges that connect the south bank to the rest of the city very easily. It is a short commute to piccadily circus, London eye, parliament, big Ben, Westminster abbey. If you like to walk the location is amazing. The hotel itself is nice for what it is and the staff is pretty helpful. The only complaint is the semi-bizarre continental breakfast... But it's edible.

Smells old. I know that prices in London are high - but this hotel is not value for money.

Staff were very pleasant

I found the hotel to be very confortable and convieint for my rquiremens. Underground parking is avaiable and this was very useful for me. However, an intercom between the car park and reception would be very useful, asthere is no way to get into the hotel after you have parekd without and entry code, which you don't have when you first arrive.

Nice and clean hotel , comfortable family room as we were 2 adults and 2 children. Breakfast was good and service was good as well. For the price is definately was a very good and comfortable stay. Would definately stay there again in future.

Clean, comfortable and convenient! Only issue was non smoking room stank of cigarette smoke so that we had to open window for fresh air. Would suggest hotels start a policy that if cleaning staff detect smoke in non smoking room the occupants are fined as is done in US!

Pleasant stay, very good location. Minor issues of small TV, mounted too high on the wall and difficult to get lift to upper floors for pickup.

All in all was fine Simply just put your head at night and sleep There's nothing interesting around the hotel

Firstly - got a great price with hotels.com. Good location for Waterloo Station. Very near the river - the Tate Modern, the millenium bridge. Easy walk into the West End along the river. Room was very clean with everything we needed - only downside was the sofabed which was uncomfortable for an adult - a thin mattress which may suit small children better. Check in and out was easy and quick. On check out we left our luggage in secure storage to go sight seeing - no problem and no extra charge. Breakfast was buffet style, topped up regularly and all we needed to keep us going for the morning. I would recommend this hotel - preferred it to another budget chain I have stayed at......

Hotel exactly what it says on the tin. Central, clean, staff friendly. Not posh but if all you want is a economically night in central London this is the place.

we planned a few days trip to London and didn't want to spend a fortune on a hotel we wouldn't spend much time in. This was perfect. Clean, tidy, friendly nice breakfast, if a few too little tables. Great base for exploring the South Bank.

A/C useless, but they were issuing fans at the front desk. Our "no-smoking" room stunk of cigarettes. Overall: no-frills taken to an unfortunate extreme.

Very good location for people who like to walk all the major London sites were within walking distance. For people who don't like to walk the tube and bus stops are within 5 minutes walk and of course there are always cabs passing by. Easy to get to from Heathrow via the tube although you do have to change trains but GBP4.50 v's about GBP80 by taxi this is a small inconvenience. Hotel breakfast was adequate quality and plenty of quantity. Rooms are comfortable.

This hotel ticked all the same boxes as previous Holiday Inns. The service was smooth and efficient, the rooms were of a decent size, well maintained and clean. The location was perfect for us to catch a train from Waterloo, eat by the river and stroll back to St. Pancras for the journey home. The only minor quibbles involved breakfast. The two people on duty were working very hard, but a variety of things kept running out (e.g. the fruit was not topped up). Both of us were also disappointed by the scrambled egg as it seemed to have been made from powdered egg and had an odd taste.

this hotel was not as we expected. There is a description in the brochure for the hotel stating you can make calls from your room. This is not true. There is one phone in the lobby, which is not private, and this is the only phone you can make an outgoing call from. In addition, our family had difficulties calling in. The rooms were not as clean as expected and were very small, as one would expect in Europe. There was no place to unload a suitcase...no stand..only the counter top, which was too small. The front desk staff were not very helpful. During the day, a cup of coffee (note a very small cup) costs 1.50 Pounds. what a joke! In addition, the windows were both broken in my room and I called the front desk - the woman said someone would fix them...instead, she left a blank work order on my bed. The windows were not fixed within 4 days we were there and I was not offered another room. My father's room did not have a working television, nor a working phone. Overall, very disappointed with this hotel!!!

The Express by Holiday Inn Southwark is a very good hotel for a quick staying in London. Close to subway stations, the Thames, London Bridge, Tate Modern etc. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you don't want to spend too much, but like a new, comfortable and clean room. The only problem is the price of the wi-fi connection - incredible 8 pound per one hour of service! Unbelievable! I have stayed in Holiday Inn hotels in the US with free internet access, why not to offer the same in the UK?

After two nights at the Holiday Inn Express I felt that I had overpaid for my internet services. I wanted to print my boarding pass before I left for the airport and I paid a generous amount to use the computer in the lobby and the printer did not even work. My room's phone ringer did not work properly, I called and asked maintenance to come and fix it and they indicated that it would be "on the list" for the next morning and I returned to my room the next evening and the problem was not addressed. I really like the breakfasts at this hotel and it is in a great location for me to visit clients. It's a good 15-20 minute scenic walk to Bank. I'd still recommend the hotel despite the hefty wirelss internet fees.

RECEPTION STAFF VERY HELPFUL, CHEERFUL AND FREINDLY, NOTHING TOO MUCH TROUBLE. PRICE INCLUDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WHICH INCLUDED BACON AND EGGS, NOT EXPECTING THAT. ONLY STAYED THE FRI NIGHT AS WE WERE GOING TO ASCOT ON THE SAT BUT WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

Mycket trevlig personal, ordning och reda på allt. Lite knöliga sängar men annars helt ok. Rummen var ganska stora med tanke på pris och att vi var i London:-) Det var också hyfsat tyst och vi kunde sova utan att bli störda av vare sig trafik eller andra gäster.

L'hôtel est très bien placé, près du métro, accès facile aux zones touristiques. Chambre très propre, le reste de l'hôtel aussi. Très bon rapport qualité/prix.
