Roost Lodge - فيل

First off, I arrived after 11pm only to find my room key, along with about ten others, taped to the outside of the locked lobby door - good security? NO! As far as the location - best location for the price. As far as the parking - SUCKED!! Now for the room - EXTREMELY RUN DOWN. My mattress was old and saggy. The dresser drawers were off track and fell out when I pulled on them. The shower/tub lacked a plug so my toddler was forced to shower to get clean vs. bathe in the tub. As for the cleaning crew - HORRIBLE! One day they cleaned only half the room leaving one bed completely untouched. The next day, they left the door ajar. I returned that night to an open door, thankfully no one had entered or stolen anything. As far as noise - the other reviews pegged it spot on - YOU CAN HEA EVERYTHING. The walls and ceilings are thin and every step, tv, or spoken word is clearly heard. Lastly, the other services - FRUSTRATING. Two of my four nights stay, I had to go get new room keys because they deactivated the keys I had. Thankfully, there was an attendant in the lobby to handle this otherwise I would have been out of luck since they can't tape a replacement on the lobby door. As far as paying less but being close...look a little further away and maybe pay a little more.

Booked this hotel at the last minute for a weekend Vail ski trip because other hotels we normally stay in Frisco area were all booked out. I thought I will give it a try even though reviews were bad. What a night! We should have listened to other customers. I thought it was a joke when the front desk tried to assign a room with the previous group of guests still in there. The employee said the previous group has checked out. Hum... Sure, they checked out and told you they will gone in minutes. Did you send someone to clean the room before you give the key to the next group? What's more interesting is that, apparently he has assigned an uncleared room to the same group before this. The guests were nice enough to say, just give us some clean sheets, we will change them. The room is very basic. Not as clean as you wish, but not bad. In the room you can hear the traffic from I-70 very well, but that does not bother me much. The worst nightmare came around 11pm or 12pm, when the guest above us returned. Every step he made, the floor screamed. About 1 hour later the squeaky sound finally stopped. Next morning around 5am, this person got up, and lapped around the room non-stop for 2 hours. Again, every step is accompanied by a squeaky sound. I finally couldn't stand it. I went upstairs and knocked on his door. He was mad at me to tell him stop making the noise. I should have listened to other customers! Even if this hotel's price dropped to 50 bucks at high ski season, I won't stay there again (ever). You can't get a restful night of sleep unless you are super lucky to have nobody else staying in adjacent rooms.

Great location and price for Vail. Very courtesy front desk staff that goes the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Contenental breakfast was included and convenient shuttle to the ski area.

Small, clean, afffordable- yes the walls are paper thin and it is noisy- yes the room is small - but it serves a purpose if you want to stay in the middle of Vail for cheap- all I cared about was that it was clean.

Wasn't sure about the place, but for the the money, the location, it is just fine. A friendly very willing to please the guest staff, it's perfect for the people who like spending their money on a fun vacation, not paying it all on the room.

He accepted my booking day change kindly.

DO NOT GO HERE! While nicely located in w. vail, this place isn't worth the small amount of money it asks. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear EVERYTHING going on in neighbors rooms and people outside. The Manager is completely rude and unwilling to work with anyone. DO NOT expect to be able to check out late (like you can in basically every hotel in the world) regardless of if you worked it out before you arrive. This has been my worst hotel experience ever, and I stay in hotels about 100 days a year. DO NOT GO HERE!

Always the cheapest place to stay in Vail for 1-4 people. That said, this is no 4-star hotel. It's dated but clean. Front desk staff is nice and continental breakfast is oatmeal, donuts, bananas, coffee and juice. Enough to fill you up for a day of skiing! Free bus is a block and a half away with grocery and restaurants a couple more blocks. Only real downside for me is the highway noise. Request a back room not facing the road.

Arrived late and room key was taped to office door. Outside temperature was 20 degrees and inside was 90 degrees. Unable to control room temperature so slept with window open and noise of I-70 right outside. Office left note to check in AM so they could get crredit card for "incidentals". Left at 7:15 and office still not open. Room is very small and in disrepair.

Met our needs for a place to sleep and shower. For the price it was great...you get what you pay for. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would suggest requesting a room in the back due to highway noise.

The room didn't have anything fancy but was clean and a good deal. Would stay again best deal in the area and the staff was very friendly. Also had breakfast

a friend and i were in town for the international dance festival and were a little concerned about the lower rating but pleased with the cost. we were absolutely delighted at the place. the owners or operators were very considerate and helpful, and the room met our needs quite adequately. was it the plush existence a lot of people want and need? no, but it was comfy and cozy and quiet and peaceful and, better yet, close to where we needed to go. we'll pass on being in vail again, but we'd stay here in a heartbeat if we need to return.

We were pleased with the location as it was right accross the way from where we needed to be. However, when we entered our room we realized that it ahd NO air conditioning! To boot to keep the windows open meant no sleep because we were right accross the fromthe I 70 interstate. The room itself was only 10 x 12 and 2 full size beds, it was a tight squeez for 2 adults and 2 teenagers! If we could have gotten a room that faced the hill rather than hwy it would ahve been tolerable, but no aircondiitoning at the end of july was aweful.

The Roost Lodge was exactly what I expected for the price. I wasn't disappointed and I wasn't pleasantly surprised. Bed was horribly uncomfortable and there were a few plumbing issues. But if you want a cheap room to just crash in for a night or two... this would be the place.

Excellent value for the price. Eric (front desk) was friendly, room was clean, location convenient. I would stay here again.

I could hear everything that the upstaris was doing. No bueno since I had to do the 10k at teva games the next morning. So if I stay there again, I will request a 2nd floor room

After sitting in the car for nearly seven hours while waiting for the pass to reopen, my wife and I decided that it would be safer to stay overnight rather than driving it at night. Going on to my Android Hotel.com app, we found the Roost. It was the least expensive in Vail and, lived up to our low expectations. No wifi, horrible television reception, a bed that could have been plywood and an ambiance from the early seventies. Won't be back!

Fine for my son and I for one night

You get what you pay for at this place. small outdated rooms in an antiquated building. The highway is in the room with you at night due to the uninsulated windows facing the road. cheap, seedy place.

This is a cheap motel in Vail. There are no others that I'm aware of. If you MUST be ski Vail, and I don't know why you'd bother, this is the bottom of the food chain. That being said they deliver what you'd expect, a clean room for the lowest price in town. They're on the other side of the freeway from the ski area so you have to deal with the bus or pay the blood money to park so be aware of that. It's a place to sleep and shower. But do yourself a favor and go somewhere besides Vail. There are better ski experiences for a LOT less money.

Clean, friendly, cozy lobby, coffee, lighted parking. Nice, inexpensive place. Will stay again.

Room smelled, bed was too soft, uncomfortable...noisy, could hear people walking upstairs, outside all the time...if you are young/only care about skiing not comfort or cleanliness, maybe the roost is good for you... not for adults, those with any discerning taste...horrible will never stay again

We wanted to ski vail for the day. It was perfect for a good night sleep and a feeling of being in someone's home 20 years ago. A bit dated in decor, but considering the price it was fine. It was clean and the service was excellent...the TV was a 24 inch....felt a bit retro and that made it even more fun. Good for the price, great location and if you are just in need of a place to sleep grab a quick simple complimentary breakfast and jump on the bus for the village you will love it. No frills

This hotel was located conveniently on the free bus route and is by far the cheapest hotel in the area. Nothing special, but fine for a night's sleep. Bed was not the most comfortable, but it made do.

We were able to check in early which helped out a lot with our travel plans, we called in ahead to make sure our room would be ready. The room was as expected, its a place to sleep and shower, nothing more, but was exactly what we needed. Our room was located on the backside of the building which kept us away from road noise and kept the room relatively cool. The complimentary continental breakfast was great on Sunday and wasn't as exciting on Monday, but I'm sure that may have to do with the amount of guests staying at the lodge and the hour we attempted to get breakfast. Doughnuts, bananas, cereal, juice and coffee was what was served. Most of that was gone on Monday.

After a hard day on the slopes, we were very disappointed with the luke warm outdoor Hot Tub. In another attempt to warm up, we found the shower had no hot water. Uncomfortable beds. Staff was courteous. Breakfast was sufficient. Probably wouldn't stay again.

First room we were assigned to had no plumbing connected. The second room had a shower curtain covered with mold and a TV that didn't work.

After reading the feedback on hotels.com I was a little worried, but I am pleased with the room and the price. I think the bad reviews were written by a few yuppies that need more than a place to crash for the night.

I stayed there on a fly fishing trip, the front desk went above and beyond, the hot tub was great, and the room, small but the beds were comfy and we slept with the indow open because it was great smelling the cool mountain air. You could hear the freeway, but not as bad as people say. I read the reviews before i went, and was pleasently surprised. if you want the ritz, or hilton...go to Vail...but if you want a good room for a great price, stay here.

I would warn anyone away from this motel. Smallest room I have ever stayed in. The bed was extremely old and the mattress was saggy and very uncomfortable. Very poorly insulated, and freeway noise was so bad it was impossible to sleep. The location is the only good thing about this place...very easy access to I-70 and surrounding area.
