Hotel is a real safe bet. English speaking for those not willing to flex the pigeon German and the staff are very helpful. The hotel is very comfortable and is in a good location - close to the Dom but shielded from the heavy footfall of tourists. Pricey in comparison to others in the area but we were glad we paid the bit extra. Would have no problems in recommending.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel in December 2011. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and rooms were very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a short walk from the cathedral and shopping area.We would recomend this hotel to anyone.

Good comfortable hotel close to city and Central station. Only had a 10 minute walk from hotel to the Cathedral and 15 min to main shopping complexes. Hotel situated near to business centre so few night attractions in this area, making for good sleeping conditions, but lots around the Cathedral. Subway system very good coverage around city with good value multi trip tickets available. Hotel between stops, though two are about 10 minutes walk and city is pretty flat. Hotel modern in character very clean almost antiseptic in a way with light furnishings, dark wood and white linen. Leisure centre is shared with adjacent residential complex but didn't find it particularly busy. No charge to use pool but small charge for fitness room which had good mix of equipment. Staff conversed easily in English although found few reasons to require assistance. Didn't eat in the hotel, too many other choices, so can't comment on catering. No Tea and coffee facilities although a well stocked and fair priced fridge available. Small supermarkets nearby if you wish to stock up on snacks. Would use this hotel and this chain again.

This hotel is perfectly located near the Cologne Cathedral. The room was huge and nicely furnished. This hotel is almost 5-star hotel and it was definitely worth the money I paid for it.

This is the third time we have stayed in this hotel and plan to do so again in 2012. We had to get a very early train to Frankfurt and we booked a taxi to take us to the railway station through reception. When we came down the taxi was waiting for us. The dining room staff are very polite and helpful. We have had the same waitress since we starting coming here and she is fantastic. The location of the hotel is just a few minutes walk to the Cathedral and the Christmas markets.

Excellent hotel located withn 5 minutes walk from train station, catherdral and city centre. Hotel is very clean and staff were superb. After dining service had ceased, was offered to be made food at midnight. Reception staff were excellent. Location is ideal. Was able to pop in and out of hotel from city centre as it was so close. I will be coming back to this hotel.

Very close to main shopping area, 50 meters from train station, but no foodshop close. Internet for payment

The receptionist was very warm and friendly, and spoke good English. The room was very comfortable and clean. Location-wise, it was within walking distance to the Dom, so it was accessible to most places within minutes. Only concern was that the room itself did not have a heater (but the bathroom did), but the duvet was good enough.

I have stayed at Lindner Hotel Dom Residence several times over the last few years, and it is a very nice hotel at decent prices. It is small, but clean professional and good value. How much more can you ask for.

A great choice as only 5 minutes walk from the main train station and the Dom and close to the main Christmas markets, but in a quieter area and great window soundproofing. Very friendly and efficient welcome from Reception & bar staff. Standard rooms plenty big enough for 2 for a weekend break with good size, very clean bathroom. The only thing missing to improve our stay would have been tea/coffee facilities in the room.

Clean, well appointed hotel. 2 minutes walk from the Dom. Can recommend wholeheartedly, absolutely no bad points.

I was hesitant about booking a hotel in Cologne because the only big chain was The Hilton. However, I booked this hotel because I wanted to swim on my night getaway. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so convenient to the train station, literally a few short blocks away. The pool was nice and clean, I was the only one in it. I was surprised that there is a 9 EUR charge to use the gym. My twin room was very nice and clean. No funky bathroom, etc. The only downside was the fact that not one station, besides some news, was in English. I would certainly stay there again.

Nice hotel in a good area close to the Dom and railway station. Breakfast is 20 eur extra but was given a voucher for 'buy one, get one free' when checking in so that made it okay. No tea/coffee making facility in the room which was a shame. Maid does not replace toiletries so my small bar of soap had to last me 5 days! Ridiculous and I should have complained about this!!!

Overall great experience. Great location. Defiantly a great place to stay. I strongly recommend to anyone.

We spent 2 weeks at the Lindner while my husband was working at Cologne. It's a great hotel. Very nice comfortable room with a balcony. We even had enough room for an extra bed for our 12 year old daughter. Beautiful lobby. Super location to the Dom and the train station. Even liked their indoor pool! We'd definitely come back for a stay!

A short walk from the central rail station, just make sure you have an accurate map with you. The hotel is ideal for all the major attractions and the city centre. Staff very helpful, courteous and friendly - even found me a mobile phone charger as I'd forgotten mine. Would recommend,

Great hotel, lovely decor, fab breakfast, handy loction. The female chef dressed in black who was stocking up the breakfast supplies nearly knocked us over with her abruptness every morning and needs to smile. The guy and girl at the bar make gorgeouse cocktails, the Bailys Colada was so nice we brought some up to our room. I will be staying there again next year for sure.

I would strongly recommend this hotel. The location is spectacular--just a few blocks from the cathedral & old town but in the opposite direction, away from the bustle and noise. The hotel is tucked onto a quiet side street across fron the police station so it's safe as well as quiet. The room was spacious and clean & the staff friendly & helpful. If I have a complaint it's that they don't have wifi in the lobby, just one desktop. Otherwise this was a terrific find that I would strongl recommend to anyone who wants a clean, quiet & convenient hotel in Cologne.

As soon as I checked in, I felt welcomed. The staff was very courteous, the room was clean, the hotel has garage parking (a bit prices, but less than a parking ticket), 5 min walk to cathedral. Staff was also very efficient: I needed an ironing board, called reception, and a very friendly staff member brought it up within 5 minutes! Room has minibar too. Highly recommend this hotel. Would stay there again.

Very nice hotel with a perfect location

I was based in Cologne for 1 week for business, and required the daily use of the train to get around to make my visits. This hotel is only a short walk from the train station so was perfect for me. The hotel itself, was brilliant, staff were very friendly, and the rooms were always kept spotless. The only issue I would have is the breakfast, if not included in your deal at €20, was very expensive for what it was (it was nice though). I did get the hotel on a promotion, and at its regular price, I very much doubt I would use. Although it is probably worth it.

As described the hotel is five minutes walk from the main railway station and five minutes from the cathedral and tourist info office (the start of all tours). The staff are very friendly and helpful - quickly getting us an extra bed for our son. The food at both breakfast and room service is plentiful and tasty. The hotel is very clean and has a lovely pool. A nice touch during advent is the free mulled wine between 4-5pm! It's location makes it an ideal base for both sightseeing and the Christmas. What was interesting was a quite vitriolic letter from the owner about a new tax the German government has forced hoteliers to introduce - urging all guests to complain via a website. This was quite impressive as a lot places might try to hide this extra cost (only 5%) of original cost.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and already plan to return next year. We were visiting the Christmas Markets in Cologne and this hotel is very close - within walking distance. The Staff are all extremely helpful. We found the Staff in the Dining Room at breakfast time to be excellent. One of them remembered us from last year, which was very nice. The only problem we found was the twin duvets on the bed. A double/king size duvet would have been more comfortable. A very small problem in what was otherwise a wonderful hotel.

We visited Cologne essentially to visit the Christmas Markets.The hotel was very clean and comfortable and in a very good central location to access the markets ,cathedral, shopping area and restaurants.It was also close to the station. We did feel that the charge for breakfast was a bit on the high side but enjoyable anyway . It would have been helpful to know ahead of travelling that a 5% tax is now chargeable in addition to the room charge in Cologne

Very convenient for city centre. Very helpful & friendly staff. Good restaurant when too lazy to go out! Centre city hotels should all be like this one & not like the mediocre fare that's served in London for example

A couple little problems at check-in -- the combo lock on the safe deposit box was flakey and one one half of the wardrobe smelled like the last guest's dirty laundry. Both problems were taken care of promptly. The hotel is located close enough to everything to be convenient, but far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood. Just a short walk from the train staton and cathedral.

Nice hotel, in a great location but be aware of all of the hidden charges (9 euros to use the hotel's fitness club, 9 euros for wireless internet, etc.)

Overall I was very satisfied with our stay at this hotel The hotel is very central, and 5 minutes walk to the station and the Dom. The rooms have everything you need and are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful.The only thing to watch out for are the bar prices. We were in Cologne on a Sunday evening and everything seemed to close earlyish, so we headed back to the hotel to have a night cap. The next morning the bar bill came to a 120 Euros for 3 rounds of drinks. Approx 10 Euro for a Jack Daniels and coke, so be warned. However, we got the room at such a good rate that we soon got over the shock !

Very close to the train station; an easy walk. The hotel is very pretty and has nice lighting. The surrounding neighborhood is not awesome, but is not bad either. We always felt safe, but there was not a lot going on.

Charge for breakfast extremly high if not included in accommodation rate but quality and variety of breakfast is good. Well situated for central Cathedral Area/station. Although we did not use the fitness facilties, they looked extremely impressive together with the sauna and swimming pool.

Walking distance to the Dom / Shopping /train station & restaurants. Helpful staff. Have umbrella's available for guests. Have use of computer + free internet at reception.

I had a great short stay. Everything about the Lindner met or exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this excellent hotel to anyone visiting Cologne. It is near the Dom, yet on a quiet street in a safe area.

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, well designed room, Breakfast was a bit expensive so I ate elsewhere. Plenty of cafes near hotel on several sides of the Dom. Would definitely stay there again.

I stayed there because of a conference in downtown Köln. Hotel rate was ok (hotels.com), but breakfast absolutely clearly overpriced! Not at all spectacular (not even fresh orange juice), but somehow it had been voted best breakfast in Germany by a Dutch travelling magazine, which seemed unexplainable. Hotel was clean, rooms ok, but smokey although I explicitly asked for non-smoking room (had to complain and got a better one). Service average - took about a day and mentioning it twice to the staff to open a safe that was not open when I arrived. The free internet in vestibule was good, as well as the attitude of the staff. Also the sauna and wellness was good. I will most likely choose another hotel next time

An excellent hotel at affordable prices. Located within walking distance of the Bahnhof, Dom, and Karnival parade routes. Very convenient to Altstadt.

The hotel is so close to the centre of Cologne & yet it is quiet and set back from the hustle & bustle. Definitely the best hotel I have stayed in, in my 10 years visiting the city

This is an ideal hotel for anyone visiting Cologne. It is a short walk away from the station and the service of the hotel desk was excellent. Our room was available when we arrived at midday, earlier than we expected. My only criticism would be lack of English TV channels or a sport channel - but then we didn't go to Cologne to watch TV!

The location is walk distance to the Train station and church also the riverside. its easy to walk around for coffee or restaurant. I recommend you all for this hotel . good room with good value of money .

This hotel certainly exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate to get a last-minute deal here for a business trip to Cologne, and I must admit I was very impressed. All of the friendly service staff are fluent in (at least) English and German, so they were quite helpful. The room was clean and quite large for the price, compared to other German hotels I have stayed in. I also thought the location was excellent. Only 2 blocks from the train station and the Dom, I couldn't have asked for a better place. I highly recommend.
