you couldnt get a better location to stay.staff were very friendly.noises from the street at night but i guess you have to be prepared for that (take ear plugs). bed was uncomfortable but it was ok for 2 nights. easy transfer by bus from airport to catalunya square then 2 minute walk to the hotel.great city lots to see and do so will go back again

A good stay for the city tourist who wish to spend the days exploring Barcelona. I booked the stay one day before arrival and it worked very well at payment, check in etc. It was easy to find on arrival. It´s situated close to Placa de Catalunya, and I felt safe when I was walking home late in the evening. The single bed room was small, but nice. Well cleaned. Didn´t use any facilities like Internet, so I don't know about that. Didn't had breakfast either, so no comments about that.

Very correct price for this location

This hotel has a central location. Easy to access by Airport Bus, and 5 minutes walk from station. Only 10 minutes to major attractions like Cathedral and La Rambla. The reception was friendly (thanks Manuel!). But stay marred by insensitive and arrogant manager (Roberto) who have refuses a simple request for hot drinking water. Only grudgingly gave in, and made us return the cups when we were in a rush to go out.

The hotel has a perfect position and the room was nice and clean with a balcony. We can not recommend the breakfast buffet. It is a lot better to go to the nearby cafe and the same price if not cheaper. We had a problem getting connected to the internet, and was told off by the evening receptionist, who obviously thought us very stupid. She could not get it to work either though. But otherwise the other staff was friendly and helpful.

After getting off the Aerobus from the airport at Pl. Catalunya, it's only a short walk to this historic 1917 Art Nouveau hotel. As a matter of fact, the first time we walked way past Santa Anna and had to trace our steps back! Due to it being on a small narrow street, yet centrally located, it was rather quiet...and we had room #119 with a balcony facing Santa Anna. Great location, good hot water with a few snack bars nearby and all of BCN just steps beyond!

Nouvel is a beautiful old hotel in the middle of the chaos of La Rambla and Placa Catalunya. Despite its location, the hotel itself is relatively quiet, although my window faced an inner courtyard which meant the voices of anyone else with an inner room carried strongly. One night some neighbors came home at 3am and had a conversation for over an hour - I had to shut my window and it still sounded like they were in my room. The other nights I was there were fine though. Placa Catalunya is a very central location, and everything in Barcelona is accessible from there. Staff was courteous if not exactly friendly, and everyone spoke english. Wifi is only available in the lobby, and it is not free. You can purchase by the hour, or for 24 hours at a reduced rate. The breakfast is substantial, but they are adamant that NOTHING leaves the dining room - a couple wanted to take their coffee to their room and were told no. The only reason I would not recommend this hotel is that I woke up the first morning with several bug bites on my hands and face.

Hotel Nouvel was great! The rooms were big and comfortable and the location was in the middle of everything but at the same time quiet at night. Since the street outside is not populated at night. I can reccomend this with all my heart! And I have been i Barcelona for many many times, this is the best oe I have had :) Enjoy!

Hotel close to main attractions and to metro. Staff was nice and friendly. A 20 euro deposit is required for the remote. Only problem mattress was too firm and pillows were awful too lumpy and hard.

Like others I selected this hotel before embarking on a cruise. All the staff spoke English, they stored my luggage prior to check in and after check out (before I could board the cruise). It is a little over a block from Placa Cataluyna, I took the Areobus (much cheaper than taxi) from the airport and easily walked to the hotel from there. Loved, loved the location. Also note if you plan on taking the on and off tour bus the hotel has a brochure with a discount code on it. As others have mentioned the beds are very hard. There is only one small elevator, I took the stairs, but if you require an elevator at busy times you may have a brief wait.

Very basic hotel with extremely uncomfortable beds. But, the location makes up for it. We only stayed there one night...so the beds were ok. Would not have stayed more than one night due to the beds. Location is fantastic!

The hotel is older but not shabby. Our room on arrival was rather small but very clean and staff so helpful, we did not mind. We returned before our flight home and the room was much larger and therefore more comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel because a buffet at fixed price was offered and we wanted only coffee and croissant which were readily available a few doors away. I would not hesitate to book again.

Nice Hotel close to Las Rambeles and Cataluna. Beds firm but slept great. Nice bathroom with tub. Only complaint was air conditioner which seemed to shut off on it's own, complaint to management seemed to get problem resolved. Location outweighed air problem.

VERY NICE HOTEL TAXI RANK 2 MINUTES WALK .TOUR BUS 5 MINUTES WALK A WAY. SHOPS ALL AROUND.

If you go to Barcelona, you must stay at the Nouvel. The location is right off the La Rambla shopping area, the decor and cleanliness was amazing, and the staff was incrediblly helpful and friendly. They really strive to please. There are many restaurants within walking distance, and there are many little shops in the alleyway that have great prices. We will definitely stay there again, and I would recommend this hotel to others.

Location couldn't have been better: one block from La Rambla and one block from Placa de Catalunya, but without the noise. Great cafes and lunch spots all around. Staff was wonderfully helpful with everything, including recommendations for restaurants and directions for taking the subway and bus. Mattresses are firm, not "hard." It is a great old-style European hotel. People who want refrigerators and all the modern amenities should stay at one of the American hotels and not expect that from Nouvel.

The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room however, was not so great. The bed was hard as a rock, harder than our other beds in Europe. There was approx 15 black hairs in our sheets. The walls were so thin, we heard EVERYTHING going on in the next room including them zipping up their luggage. Everytime someone flushed the toilet, it sounded like a freight train. Don't bother, stay somewhere else

The hotel is esthetically nice, the personnel is particularly helpful and nice. The hotel is close to the Rambla, to the Gothic area and quite central. There is CNN and the BBC but you have to put a deposit of 20 euros to get a remote and there is no fridge. Still, it is a good value for the money.

Hotel Nouvel is in a great location. ! block from the La Rambla and 1 block to the aeroporto bus , train and metro station at playa Caltalayna. It was only 5.3 Euro for the Aeroporto bus making it a very inexpensive and very easy trip to get to the city from the Airport. From there It was just a 5 minute walk to the hotel. The employees at the front desk spoke english very well and were very helpful. the beds were a bit hard, but the staff and location made the stay worthwhile. We would definitly stay at the Hotel Nouvel again!

The Nouvel Hotel is in the perfect location in Barcelona; it's a stone's throw from La Rambla, but far enough away from the main drag to avoid being woken by the noisy revellers in the early hours! The staff are spectacularly friendly; they helped us so much during our stay. The only slightly negative note is that the place has a slightly tatty feel about it; a fresh coat of paint woulldn't go amiss and the carpets are threadbare, but overall, it's very good value for money and worthy of a recommendation.

Large room. Very Clean. Small sitting room which led onto a huge patio thru the floor to ceiling windows. Air Conditioning questionable. Sheets so clean you could smell the bleach. TV didn't work and there was noone on duty to fix it. But we didn't come to Barcelona to watch TV. The also had a room in the hallway with desks and chairs where you could sit and read etc. They did have access to wi fi but no printers to print your boarding passes etc. However the location was unbelievable. Right at the top odf Las ramblas. Near all transportation. 5 minute walk to the Boqueria Market and tons of Shopping. Definitely worth the price.

Small hotel ideal for short stay.Close to La Ramblas and Placa Cataluyna.Very friendly and efficent staff.Breakffast adequate.Rooms a bit small and dark but none the less very comfortable.This is my second visit and would consider staying again.

Had a very pleasant stay at the hotel,staff were very friendly, kind and could not do enough for you. The rooms were so clean, would highly recommend it to friends.

We arrived early. Within a couple of hours they had a room ready for us, well before the regular check in time. The reception was excellent, the room large and convenient. The hotel has a perfect location for exploring the city, easily accessible yet quite.

The staff were unfriendly and rude. The rooms were tiny and the beds were uncomfortable. Also, the AC didn't work.

This is a very quaint, well-kept hotel in a great location -- right off Las Ramblas but removed from the noise. Walkable to the Gothic Quarter, the Catedral de Barcelona, Plaza Cataluna and other interesting sites. Very efficient, helpful staff. I would definitely recommend to others and stay here myself again!

Great Location in the Barri Gotti and Central to all things. Classic feel to Hotel. Recommended.

We stayed overnight before joining a cruise ship. The hotel was in a very convenient spot in Ramblas area. You can catch an aerobus from airport to Cataluna (last stop) for around E5.00 and a taxi to port for around E20. It was a lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff. We had a spacious room and comfortable bed. I highly recomend this hotel

This hotel is located not far from Plaza Catalunia close to La Rambla - a place you want to be in if you are in Barcelona for pleasure. Nice rooms, excellent service, very friendly staff.

The welcome we got from the hotel reception was so warm and genuine and the gentleman on reception spent time detailing the areas of interest and guided tours and bus services available. He also recommended some restaurants of differing value to help us out. He was extremely welcoming and helpful and although the bed was a little hard for my back and the room quite cosy this was insignificant compared to the benefits of the location and the hotel was extremely clean and tidy with an excellent en-suite facility which is important. This hotel was ideally located for all the sights we wanted to visit. We were just around the corner from the cathedral and gothic area with all its quaint areas of buskers and little cafes and yet only 50 yards from the Rambla with all the buskers, cafes, bars and entertainers this area has to offer. We could easily walk to the harbour and yet just one block away from the Hard Rock cafe. The two day tourist bus is a must and such good value and available at a discount from the hotel. We were concerned at using this hop on hop off tourist bus on a Saturday and Sunday as we thought it may be packed but this was not a problem as they run every few minutes and so many were available. As you may have gathered my partner and I had a wonderful time in this city and would recomend this hotel without a doubt for location, cleanliness, cost and friendliness and help of the hotel staff. Many thanks. We will definitely be visiting again and using this hotel.

Great reception staff. Particularly man in the mornings. Humorous helpful and appearing genuinely concerned that guests get what they need. give him a bonus! Excellent location

I stayed for a few nights. The hotel is comfortable and the rooms are nice, although the overall interior design and atmosphere is outdated by a couple of decades. the staff is very nice. best thing about it is the location. just off the Ramblas, 1 minute walk from Place de' Catalonia. Smack in the middle of it all. You can pretty much walk to most main attractions, and have the subways and eurobus stations right there. the one thing i found to be annoying is the charge for interent. something like 2 euros per hour, and only in the hotel lounge. it's 2011. time to move on from this way of thinking. web should be offered freely, and in all rooms.

the location and closeness to Las Ramblas was what urged me to book this hotel but it turned out to be a great disappointment. The room was on the 4th floor and the WiFi at about E20.00 per day did not work in the room and only worked in the lobby, the bed was monastic in its firmness and the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. I never slept well 1 nite there ! The bathroom was great. Breakfast till 10am only unfortunately but was good fare. The front desk staff were very friendly, fluent in English, French and Spanish and were very helpful. The only good thing about the hotel. I wont be a return guest !

We enjoyed the Nouvel immensely. It was within walking distance to the tour bus and shops and restaurants. The Nouvel was very nice and clean, and we had a balcony with a wonderful view overlooking the alley with shops. The only complaint I have is that the beds were hard, but we slept fine anyway. I would definitely recommend The Nouvel.

Hotel in very old building, in heavily gafitti'd alleyway. Some rooms have been remodeled, some not. At first, was shown into a large, not-remodeled room that smelled strongly of smoke, though I had requested a non-smoking room. Linens and drapes were old and dingy. After pleading with the desk clerk, was moved into a very nice, remodeled room that did not smell. We did, however see a couple of roaches crawling around. Yikes....would not recommend this hotel!

The room was not ready at check in (2pm) and did not provide towels for hours after we were in the room. The beds were as hard as rocks and pillows weighed about 10 lbs and were also hard as rocks (very, very uncomfortable!) The bathroom had ants, the shower head was very difficult to use, the room backed very noisy apartments, the A/C did not work, and the furnishing were old and smelled bad. The front desk person was overwrought and was unable to help with any questions regarding transportation services.

The location of the hotel was excellent. That was the only plus side. Otherwise, the furnishings and linen were old and the halls would echo loudly with the footsteps of anyone passing in the night and we could even hear activity down in reception which made it difficult to have a sound night's sleep.

If you want to stay on La Rambla and not pay an arm and a leg, check this place out. It's not the fanciest, not the biggest, not the quietest, and not an amenity rich hotel. But, it's very clean. They will remember your name. And it's not a bad place to shower and lay your head.

Very pleasant experience. Great location. Gracious and very helpful staff. Good value for the money. The only draw back were the drunks who decided to return to their rooms at about 2:30 am, and continued to make noise until about 3:30. I would definitely recommend the hotel Neuvol to others.

Our stay was more than satisfacory. The room was comfortable and clean. The location was ideal and the front desk staff was extremely helpful. Their suggestions made our stay very productive and fun. Would definitely go back there again. All the staff was very respectful.
