hotel has great location however rooms are too small, had no bathtub and radiator was turned off which made room very cold. overall not a four star experience for us.

The hotel facilities are adequate with a quite small bathroom. However the staff were friendly and the food was lovely.

Only thing missing was fluffy bath robes

Lovely hotel & we had a beautiful view over the Harbor. Very convenient to a stroll in the town & so easy to use as a gateway to surrounding beautiful spots in the West Cork area. Well done Trident Staff & thanks for making this memorable for us

We drove almost 7 hours down the west coast and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel was just as pictured and easy to find in the small town of Kinsale. The staff was very friendly and kind enough to upgrade our rooms, the rooms were very clean and comfortable with beautiful harbor views, do close your shades if you don't enjoy being awakened by the sunrise on the water. The town of Kinsale, less than a 5 minute walk, was just as enjoyable with plenty of shops and pubs to keep you busy all day. The included breakfast was perfect and service was great. We look forward to coming back one day.

Good 4-star hotel, everything as expected, large room and bathroom, lovely view, friendly staff

THE TRIDENT HOTEL ONLY 4 MINUTES FROM TOWN CENTRE. OUR ROOM HAD THE MOST AMAZING VIEW OF THE HABOUR. TWENTY MINUTE DRIVE AWAY IS THE OLD HEAD OF KINSALE, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SCENERY I HAVE EVER SEEN. IF YOUR THERE IN THE SUMMER MONTHS, THE BEACHES ARE VERY GOOD. A LOT OF GOLFERS STAYING IN THE HOTEL, AND WAS TOLD THE GOLF COURSES ARE GREAT. ALL WEEKEND WE HAD EXCELLENT FOOD, EVERY RESTAURANT WAS GOOD, AND SOME VERY GOOD LIVE BANDS IN THE PUBS & RESTAURANT.

I was uncertain what to expect reading some negative reviews but the Trident Hotel is a nice, clean place - I would say 4-star - and it's much closer than I expected to the city center in Kinsale. It's maybe a 5-minute walk on a semi-busy sidewalk along the city's marina to pubs, restaurants, shops and the city center. The rooms all overlooked the marina. Overall, it's a good place and, if anything, perhaps a little more quiet than the hotels in the city center.

Not sure how this hotel rates itself a 4 star. Its more like a 2 1/2 to 3. Think Days Inn. About the only thing to recommend it is its waterfront location, but don't believe the "seaview", its more like harbor or marine view, so you are looking at boats. A large tanker pulled in the night we were there and started unloading at 6 AM the next morning. As all rooms face the water it can be very noisy. Also, be sure to book an "executive room" since at least the bathrooms have been renovated. They are nice, but housekeeping is a bit lax here so although somewhat recent there is already mold forming in the corners of the shower, and I don't want to know what the stain was on the wall behind the toilet. The furniture in the room was extremely cheap, and the bedspread needed replacing. Its the kind of place you don't want to walk around in bare feet in, but the sheets were clean. There was a space for a refrigerator below the TV, but there wasn't one. There were two very stubby short and stained chairs and a table in front of the large picture window. Still the attendant who brought us many buckets of ice was pleasant and fast, and check in/out efficient. Breakfast was fine with choice of hot, cooked to order and continental buffet. There is not near enough parking which can be an issue with Kinsale's narrow streets so if you get a space dont plan on leaving. Overall stay here only if you really want a water view, otherwise there are much nicer (and probably cheaper!!) guest houses in town.

We found this hotel to be adequate and offerered all it needed to offer. Nothing over the top. Clean and seemed to operate efficiently. Breakfast was very good although "cut off" time was a bit too early at 10 o' clock. It has a comfortable residents bar tucked away on the first floor and the bar downstairs was nice with plenty of room and a tasty looking lunch menu. We didn't eat in the hotel as there are far too many nice restaurants in Kinsale. It is at the very end of the harbour so it's the furthest away from all restaurants, pubs, etc. but I hasten to add that it's not too long a walk, and we liked its location looking onto the harbour. The bedroom walls are too thin and COULD make one's stay somewhat uncomfortable. Parking is tight. It's certainly not the best or nicest hotel we've stayed in but overall we were very satisfied with our stay and would advise friends to stay there. Good value for money for a short break.

We stayed in the Standard Rooms. The rooms are very dated. Lighting is very poor so the room is quite dark. The bathroom is very dated and the thermostat on the shower was not working as even on the coldest setting the shower was too hot to use. We requested a non smoking room but there was a strong smell of smoke in our room.Bring your own hair dryer as the one provided is very poor. On check out reception did not enquire if everything was ok or did we enjoy stay. I would not recommend this hotel.

The Trdent Hotel in Kinsale is advertised as a four star, but is by no means that, in my opinion. Our room was very dated, even though the website said it had been recently re-furbished! The bathroom was tiny and had a horrible smell like mildew. The shower kept going hot and cold and the bath was not very inviting. There were no extras like you would get in other four star hotels, not even water in the room. I have no complaints about the staff, they seemed very pleasant. I have stayed in 3 star hotels that were more comfortable and luxurious. This hotel is not worth the money and has not earned its four star status.
