Very noisy. Walls are very thin. Something weird was happening in the room next door, with people coming and going all night.

We booked this hotel for the New Year's, looking for a decent place to stay for a couple of nights not far from the centre of Sydney. The room was clean and taken care of, the hotel was recently refurbished. There is an aircon, kitchenette with a fridge, ironing board, and even wine glasses. The view is nothing spectacular but who cares. They had several options for breakfast, from $5 to $18, but even that is not necessary because a large shopping is in 5 minutes walking distance, offering great choice and opening early. The location is quiet, at least during the holidays. For those who prefer proximity to Macquarie University, this is probably the best choice.

Its is very close to Macquarie Uni its located North East of the main campus, its nice, but its a smoking free hotel it means that you can't smoke in the hotel as well as the rooms, breakfast is expensive around 18 AUS each day and the wireless is also expensive it will cost you 20 AUS a day or 100 AUD a week. Macquarie Shopping Center is 15 minutes walk. I would recommend this hotel for anyone wants to be close the Macquarie Uni otherwise there are lots of alternatives.

A good clean hotel. We asked for and got a quiet room. The staff were helpful and courteous. If we need to stay in the same area again we would definitely consider this hotel.

Extremely rude assistant manager Lisa The Assistant Manager Lisa was extremely rude when I called to enquire about the location and facilities of the hotel. She was very impatient and rude in answering my questions. In the middle of the conversation (through long-distance call), she suddenly put me on hold and having me to wait for a long period of time without any explanation. She was not trying to answer the questions but blaming me for booking the room without asking the questions through Hotels.com first. I can only say her behaviour was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Only because I have already paid the room, I reluctantly stay in this hotel. When I enquired about Lisa at the reception on the day of my arrival, they told me that she is promoted. I cannot imagine how such an unprofessional person can be promoted to a more senior position. Extremely disappointed!!!! In contrast, the person who made the booking for me at Hotels.com was very helpful and friendly. It is unlucky that the industry had some personalities that turn customers away.

If you need to be at Macquarie University - this hotel is right on the outer edge of the campus - great location. Sadly the service was highly variable - depending on whom you were talking to and I was woken unnecessarily by hotel staff on 2 out of three mornings I was there (7am & 8.30am), which helped me decide not to buy a further 13 nights at the hotel. Initial contact with staff was ok - not welcoming - no smile from the Gen Y concierge 1 for example. The room was very neat, very clean, very new and comfortable. The fridge was off so who knows if the milk portions were good or not (I didn't try them). I had to pull the fridge out of its cavity to turn it back on. Probably a previous guest had turned it off because as I discovered, despite being clean and new, it was quite loud at night. The TV picture was poor (grainy) and the aspect ratio of the image was wrong (it was stretched). I'd hardly pay $15 for a movie under those circumstances. By far the biggest issue for me was that on the first morning THE ENTIRE HOTEL was woken by the duty manager at 7am trying to get the attention of the guest who's car was about to get blocked in on their driveway by the road crew who were working on the sliproad. I was exhausted and REALLY needed the 2 extra hrs sleep I could have had that morning. Knowing that they have a twitter account they spruik their discount offerings on, I rolled over & @replied to @travelodgehotel asking why we were all woken. 9 days later I have not been answered. (NB - this is an example of EXACTLY how NOT to do social media). When I got to the desk later that day I asked why the entire hotel had been woken on account of one guest's car instead of it being towed. I got a fairly sympathetic response from concierge 2. A colleague also at the hotel who spoke to the duty manager in question got NO apology for her poor judgement and was served up some attitude instead. Later that first evening they used the public address to bother THE ENTIRE HOT

Good hotel, nice college park setting outside of town. Easily accessable by train. Expensive wifi though. Less expensive at mall a short walk away. Good price and nice break from city bustle.
