The location was in old town, very close to the castle and the royal mile which has a lot of shops and restaurants, that was the bright spot of staying here. The hotel was old and not maintained. Our room had no phone, the mattress was terrible, several lights were out and there was no elevator to get us to our room which was on the second floor, so when you have suitcases, that is not what you want to deal with when you first get there. I normally would not care about the noise, but there is a bar on the first floor and we can hear the music and the noise until at least 3am, the bigger problem was the staff cleaning up, moving tables and trash cans until 4-5am. The crowd in the bar was very young, mostly college kids. So if you are a family with kids, I do not recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, good location, a little expensive.

I arrived on Monday morning at 10:30 am after an all-night flight from Canada. My room wasn't available but they assigned me another so I could crash - a kindness I am extremely grateful for. The location is marvelous and, early in the week, noise wasn't an issue.

I chose it from website, as price seemed ok and also walking distance from Waverley train station (10-15 mins). It was difficult to get to it. Not exactly on the main road. The entrance is side ways so you do not see it easily. When you do, the name is even different !!!! it was a guy's name (so & so's hotel) I can not remember it now. Someone outside pointed to it. I went inside to ask, they said : oh yes it was that name before. They can not even be bothered to change the name on the ouside. Reception clerk was polite. Beds are ok. Looking through windows you see walls. Complementary stuff including tea, coffee, biscuits, water bottles, shampoo and body wash were fine. I did not try their food as I left early morning. Summary : Not too bad for a single over night stay, as I arrived from airport, late at night, to catch a train first thing in the morning. Any longer stay surely not recommended.

The hotel is located in the same front yard as a bar with tables and games right outside the hotel windows. We had to change our room because of all the loud noise of music and drunk people in the bar late at night to early morning. Both rooms where dirty: filthy remote control and light stitches, and the carpet probably has not been hoovered since the hotel opened. Filthy shower/ bath tub with pink gush and fungus around the tiles. way too expensive for its lack of comfort.

Very noicey hotel. The bar at the ground level plays loud music all night. Also, I could hear the voices from neighbouring rooms. Hence, I think the walls are not properly insulated. No Internet connection and I was asked to use free internet connection from neighbouring cafe. When I was booking, I was told that it is about 0.2miles from the railway station, but it turned out to be over 2 miles and I had to take taxi to go to the station. Some windows of the room has no locks, despite they are at ground level. Very unsecure place.

good value for price..nothing amazing but would stay again :)

Mine was a whistlestop visit...but found it surprisingly bright despite it''s address. I would recommend it to friends !!

This hotel claims to be 3* but I have stayed in hostels better than this, the room was dingy with 3 beds squashed in, the sheets were dirty, there was still hair left in the bath from the people before and the beds were like sleepin on breeze blocks. The cleaners left hoovers spread across the hall way, boxes of drink directly outside the lift, these people are clearly not health & safety conscious. The location of hotel is good though, just a quick walk and you are in town, the hotel bar is nice too. They are the only good points to this hotel.

I booked the hotel because it stated that it had parking facilities..it stated limited parking facilities but it was still something...but upon arriving then we found that there was no parking facilities at all and we could not even park for a few minutes in front of the hotel (Cowgate is a very busy and small street) such that we could unload our luggage. The hotel itself was good, but the fact that parking facilities were not even close is something that I was not happy about.

Needed to do something about the carpet. Very Dirty. But the best shower.

Hotel located in the middle of the local club scene, at two to four blocks of every major atractions. Staff was most serviceable. However, our room was definitely poor in furniture and overall comfort.

The cleanliness of the room was shocking, I would not recommend this place to anyone at all, I've seen nicer hostels. The maid was listening to very loud music in the morning on her mobile phone going up and down the halls. This hotel is a disgrace.. Plug sockets hanging off the Walls, windows that don't open. Would not recommend

We had a bad feeling about it when walking to the hotel from the bus stop. To start the area it is in, is old town and in the lower level. There are a few bars, but they looked pretty questionable. The area is dark and dank and to be honest, I probably wouldn't walk there at night. The hotel itself is pretty cool. It was built in the 1700s and has a good club/bar downstairs (the 3 sisters tavern). The problem is I think the bed is from the 1700s. We could feel every spring digging into our backs. We did have a great time at the 3 sisters each night. And with as loud it was, you would think you wouldn't be able to sleep, but once we got to our room on the first floor facing the courtyard you couldn't really hear anything, so that was a pleasant surprise. Another good thing is although the location itself is questionable, it is very close to a lot of the attractions. That is really where the good things end. At some point we spilled something on the comforter, so we asked them to change our sheets. When we got back, we saw clean sheets but when we went to bed, we saw they just flipped the sheet over. Also, the shower curtain had mold on it and our tv remote didn't work. The icing on the cake was the last morning when we wanted to make sure we woke up on time to catch a train. We asked the front desk to give us a wake up call, which they said they would. Luckily we happened to wake up when we needed to, because there was no wake up call. All in all, it was mostly a good hotel, but there were so many little things that were bad, that I wouldn't recommend staying there.

HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE HOTEL, THE THREE SISTERS PUB IS RIGHT THERE SO GREAT FOR A FEW PINTS AND WE WERE NOT EVEN A TEN MINUTE WALK FROM WAVERLY TRAIN STATION. ALL THE TOUR BUSES ARE RIGHT THERE. THE ROOM ITSELF WAS GREAT. PLENTY OF SPACE IN THE ROOM TO RELAX. I ALREADY RECOMMENDED TO MY BUDDIES THAT ARE HEADIN OVER THERE NEXT YEAR.

We didn't realize it was the last night of the festival season, but we ended up staying in the middle of all the parties in town. We could hear the ruckus all night long. There was dirly linen in the hallway by the elevator (all evening). The bed in our room was uncomfortable. The worst part was the bathroom. I opened the door and was overwhelmed by a bad smell. Finally I looked up and about a third of the ceiling was covered in mold. They had told us they were putting us in a quiet room. Since we didn't want to hear more of the outside noise, we didn't ask for a different room. Also, we were disappointed that they didn't offer wireless internet, or a computer for guests to use.

After reading some other reviews I was concerned about staying at this hotel however, I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort of my room. The only problem is the nightclub downstairs. I was there on a Saturday night and it was very loud. If you do stay here I recommend ear plugs. I wore them to bed and had a great sleep! The location was great as it was less than a 5 minute walk to the High Street. Yes, it is down a hill, but so is most of Edinburgh, so if you don't like hills I wouldn't recommend visiting the city, the hotel has nothing to do with this (in a response to other reviews I've read!). If you are looking for a clean, well maintained hotel in a good location in Edinburgh I do recommend this hotel. Just remember to bring ear plugs!

had a great weekend hotel was great, the pub downstairs was great but if you were going for a quiet weekend then might not suit you, the atmosphere was fun and would stay at this hotel again. was only a 5min walk away from princes st and was central for everywhere we were going.

If you're on a budget go here. Loud at night, but clean rooms and bathroom.

The hotel is centrally located and a magnet for hen/stag parties. Bar centered activities rule the day, big screen Yv etc.Well managed and clean but I could live without breakfast in bar.

De locatie is prima. Je loopt zo naar de meeste bezienswaardigheden. De hotelkamers zijn erg klein. Het bed is erg smal en het comfort is minimaal. Voor de prijs zou je meer mogen verwachten. De naastgelegen pub is op vrijdag en zaterdag druk met vooral jonger publiek. Om dan bij het hotel te komen moet je eerst jezelf een weg door de menigte wurmen. Lig je toevallig aan de pub kant heb je ongetwijfeld last van het rumoer. Ontbijt is in the pub. Zelf geen gebruik van gemaakt omdat er in de omgeving prima. Alternatieven zijn.

Veldig godt fornøyd med hotellet. Ligger perfekt til i Edinburgh's Old town. Pub med god stemning i nabobygget uten at det medførte uro eller noen annen form for ubehagelighet. Ingenting å utsette på de ansatte eller servicenivået. Anbefales!

ホテルがキレイでアニメティも揃っており、クッキーやコーヒーなども置かれてあり、値段が安いのが信じられないぐらい、いいホテルでした。 また、従業員の方がとても親切でした。 ホテルの隣にはパブがあり、外ではビアーガーデンみたいな感じになっており、とても雰囲気がよかったです。

Mycket oväsen från puben. Dåligt städat och mycket obekväma sängar. Läget perfekt, framförallt om man gillar publiv.

Das Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen, aber viel zu teuer für die Qualität der Zimmer. Alles ist alt und schmuddelig. Wir hatten zuerst ein Zimmer mit einer uralten Matratze und die Dusche funktionierte nicht. Die Zimmerkarten funktionierten mehrmals nicht. Am Abreisetag hatten wir gar kein Wasser mehr...

Hotellet ligge meget centralt i den hyggelige gamle bydel. Tæt på The royal mile og Princesstreet. Værelserne er slidte men helt ok eftersom man ikke vel ikke tager til Edinburgh for at være på hotellet. Personalet var sødt og meget hjælpsomt i alle situationer. Det var en rigtig god oplevelse.

Hyfsat läge nära Grassmarket. Vårt rum var dåligt städat och hade dåliga sängar som var nedlegade rätt ordentligt. Man hamnar dock relativt centralt, men bättre alternativa hotell finns i närheten. Ok, för en natt eller så.

Att hotellet låg centralt kunde inte väga upp att rummet var trångt och opraktiskt inrett, att badrumstaket var mögligt, att de serverade mögligt bröd, att hissen stank kiss och att de inte hade internet. Däremot hade de en stor och aktiv inne- och utebar. Varje gång vi behövde passera entrén möttes vi av stupfulla män oavsett tid på dagen. På natten var det svårt att sova pågrund av ljuden från gården.

Tailors hall hotel levede ikke op til vores forventinger. Prisen taget i betragtning havde vi forventet et noget mere vedligeholdt og lækkert værelse end det "kælderværelse" vi fik tildelt. Værelset var koldt og fugtigt grundet utætte vinduer og beliggenhed. Der var huller og revner i væggen, fliserne i badeværelset var revnet og afløbet i vasken var tilstoppet. Desuden levede rengøringen ikke op til en almindelig standard på hoteller generelt, da der var spindelvæv i loftet og støv her og der. Beliggenheden var det største plus!

Dieses Hotel liegt sehr zentral, die Royal Mile ist in weniger als 5 Gehminuten zu erreichen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist OK. Positiv ist ein vorhandener Wasserkocher auf dem Zimmer. Das Lokal "Three Sisters" im Erdgeschoss und der damit verbundene Trubel waren nicht störend. Die Mitarbeiter an der Reception waren sehr freundlich und bemüht. Die Umgebung (Cowgate) ist etwas unheimlich und würde ich in der Nacht alleine vermeiden. Sauberkeit: Manche Stellen im Bad waren mit Schimmel befallen und unter den Möbeln wird nicht gerade täglich gereinigt, im Großen und Ganzen ist es jedoch OK. Wir waren auf Städtereise für mehrere Tage, wer keine all zu hohen Ansprüche hat, ist hier ganz gut aufgehoben

Location is rather nice. Just need to know that it is actually bit below than the main street level. Place itself is decent but the disco and some other events can create quite a noisy environment for a weekend stays.

Das Hotel ist wirklich optimal gelegen. Allerdings ist 'Bar' untertrieben, es ist eher die 'In-Location' mit Bands, Kneipe, Fußball, Karaoke, Biergarten und Eimer-saufen rund um die Uhr und entsprechender Lautstärke auf den Zimmern. Wen die Lautstärke allerdings nicht stört, ist hier auch abends bestens aufgehoben und unterhalten. Ich würde das Hotel somit eher für junge Leute empfehlen.

Lovely place, lovely people, great location (just near the city centre and the train station), excellent food and drinks! I wish I could stay for some more days!!! 2 days are NOT enough for Edinburgh! See you next time, Edinburgh! Will definitely be staying in Tailors Hall again!!!

Das Einchecken war super. Ein netter Concierge und eine rasche Abwicklung. Das Hotel ist super gelegen. Mitten im Stadtkern. Kurze Wege z.B. zum Castle oder zum Whisky Experience. Wir hatten 2 Zimmer gebucht. In einem war alles tip top, das andere war wohl eher ein Notfallzimmer. Kaffe und Tee aber kein Wasserkocher, tastenloser Fernseher ohne Fernbedienung und eine Klospühlung die erst beim 5 oder 6 mal drücken auch wirlich spühlte. Aber alles war sehr sauber und in unserem Fall war das am wichtigsten. Einziger wirklicher Minuspunkt des Hotels ist das Frühstück. Das wird im Pub neben dem Hotel eingenommen. Dem Three Sisters. Der Service dort ist mit unfreundlich noch recht wohlwollend umschrieben. Das Essen ist ok aber die Bedienung .... Zuerst wurde Frühstück nur halb serviert und zum Ende Bestellungen ganz ignoriert. Daher gebe ich dem Hotelservice nur eine 2. Obwohl das Verhalten des eigentlichen Hotelpersonals vorbildlich war.

Inte så dyrt, men ändå bra. Nära till det mesta och vänlig personal. Sett till vad vi betalade så var det väldigt prisvärt och rekommenderar verkligen detta hotell, kanske inte för en smekmånad men annars är det grymt.
