Loved the neighbourhood, very vibrant. Loads of good eating options around the subway stop. Might seem a bit down-heel at first but don't let appearances put you off, this really is a great neighbourhood. Hotel - pretty much as reviewed - but not bad at all. For this price in NY you can't go wrong! Have fun, we did. Also - the hotel is only a 10 min walk from subway - our advice - WALK!

This hotel was pretty much what I expected for the price. If you are on a tight budget and want to stay within easy reach of Manhattan without the high Manhattan prices this is fine. A 15 min walk to the subway and a 15 minute train ride to the centre of Manhattan. No luxury, rooms are shabby and ours had a damp smell but you get what you pay for. Breakfast was surprisingly good, if a little crowded.

Completly satisfied.

We stayed at the hotel for a week and that was way too long. You got tired of the lousy breakfast ;everything was empty att all times, the toaster only took two slices at the time and the woman who worked there was the most unfriendly person I've ever met. We got a room on first floor next to the reception/breakfast area and we woke up early every morning because of the not soundproof walls. The freakning beeping from the waffelmachine almost killed me. The transfer to Manhattan only took 6 people. The distance to the subwaystation was a 15 minute walk which felt too far when you stay for that long. We tried to get the hotel to call us a yellow-taxi but they're only willing to call a cab from another company, which charged THREE times as much.

It was the best price we could find.It is the best for those who want to stay out all day and come back at night only for rest,because it took 10-12 min walk to the subway station and there wasn't any other transportation you could use.Another drawback was the breakfast.There wasn't enough space for all at the buffet to have a seat and we had to wait long in order to have our meal.

Worth going to, great breakfast put on. Food offered is a choice of cereal, oats, bagels, bread, English muffins, sweet muffins, fruit (usually just apples), eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, caffeinated and decaf coffee, hot chocolate, three juices (apple, fruit, cranberry when we were there). Go there early though as there is limited space and if you go there late you often are waiting in lines and there may be no tables to sit at which can be frustrating. Rooms clean and spacious, staff courteous. The location is about 4 blocks from the 40th and Lowry stop, which is not far. You get views of Manhattan along the way. There are plenty of small shops and pharmacy's along and near Queen's Boulevard. Go east if you want variety though as west there is not many shops. Even walking along the back streets there are many places to eat. The community has a nice feel to it, and it is only 15 minutes train ride to Times Square. Well worth the saving instead of spending big by staying in Manhattan and you get to mingle with the locals and feel like a New Yorker in the mean time which is something my children and I absolutely love. Also, there is a laundromat a block from the hotel with heaps of machines, so you can use those at a good price while meeting the locals also. McDonalds is at the end of 37th Street, a Gas station at the end of 38th Street, both on Queen's Boulevard. If you want to take the trip into Manhattan by foot, there is a path over the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, that will take you to Central Park (North from memory). That is a about an hour's walk. The subway number 7 line is linked up with most, if not all, of the other lines running north/south Manhattan. So overall a great hotel with a community feel and ease of access to Manhattan that is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the room was. It was very clean, and there was more than enough storage space for our clothes and belongings (for a five night stay). There was also a microwave and fridge in the room. Unfortunately we stayed during some building works which we hadn't been warned about in advance so the window to our room was mostly covered with boards, but these things happen I guess. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good, though did get a little busy and on one occasion we had to take our breakfast to our room as there were no more seats. Free wifi, printing facilities and hot drinks available from the breakfast area at all times was a bonus. The neighbourhood felt safe and we enjoyed the little walk to the subway stop as it felt like walking through a real neighbourhood, which we actually didn't do much of in NYC.

the hotel is being renovated at present but this didnt stop us enjoying our stay there. the staff are friendly and informative. The bed is nice and comfy and the rooms are spacious and clean. breakfast is quiet good and useful as saves on some expense. Although the hotel could do with a bigger space as the breakfast bar gets pretty overcrowded after 8am. 15 minute walk to 40th street subway which is 5 or 6 stops to time square. $40 cab to jfk airport. $15 if go by train/subway. overall no problems and would recommend it as cheap and convienient especially if on a budget.

We traveled to NYC from Las Vegas for our son's wedding. The hotel was convienently located and the hotel provided a car service to get us from LIC to Manhattan for the wedding. The staff was extremely helpful with the 11 people we had in our party including 2 adults with special needs. The rooms are small, but very clean, and for the money were a GREAT deal! The provided breakfast was very good, but the woman running the breakfast service needs to learn patience and better people skills....she was a little rude! All in all, we will stay here again, and save the $100.00+ that other people at the wedding spent at other hotels in the city!

I've stayed for one week and the hotel has a pretty look, it's a simple, cozy and good for a week, maybe for a month. They give a pretty small room, but, after a couple of days, i'd rather to stay there than change for another. The breakfast is regular, nothing really special but has eggs, bacon and yorgut. For those whose thing about a good staff and doesnt mind about a 10-15 minutes walk to next sbw station, its the best in Long Island City. I'd like to stay there again.

a very good hotel for the dollar with a breakfast. However it is a 20-30 min walk from the Subway and if you are not in good shape it may be too much after a 10-14 day of walking in NYC. The 3 daily shuttles into the city is an added perk (and it's free)

Stating outside of manhattan is a good way to save some bucks. This hotel is a good option. Basic but very affordable, friendly and clean. It's in a quiet residential area of Long Island City but a reasonable 10 min walk to Queens Blvd, where there's plenty of stores. Once there it's an easy 20 min subway into the heart of Manhattan. Rated 4 overall for these reason.

This is obviously a hotel under renovation... There was a lot of construction and the staff could use an upgrade as well. The beds were VERY uncomfortable. Tube TVs are from the early 90s and are burned out. Rooms smelled of mildew. Towels were hard.

If you are comfortable taking the subway into NCY from Queens, the value is definitely worth it.

Rooms are neat, but dark, breakfast very busy and location is poor: Next to a highway, takes about 30 minutes to travel to Manhattan by metro. Staff is very friendly, free wifi and shuttle services to Times Square.

Very happy with the services of the hotel. You can get tea, coffee etc in the downstairs breakfast area at any time. Rooms are a nice size even the bathroom. Breakfast is good and included in the price. The only downside is that you have to walk a few blocks to get the bus or subway, but it is frequent. Also found a nice Korean restaurant in the area.

The distance to the subway is acceptable but a bit far especially when returning after a long day of walking. Breakfast was very crowded but you can bring the food back to your room. Staff was very sweet and helpful.

Although initially our first impressions of the hotel and neighbourhood were not very positive, it proved wrong. The room was clean although a bit cramped with 2 double beds inside. The breakfast is nice and the staff friendly and helpful. Especially Luigi, when we needed to go to JFK airport and the shuttle usually didn't operate that early, he drove us so we didn't have to haul our luggage the four blocks to the subway. Nicely priced hotel. It operates a free shuttle service to Manhattan 3 times a day, but you would have to book way in advance to make use of the 9h morning trip as it can only take 6 people.

Though the location is not so convenient, the hotel service is good. The staff are nice, breakfast quite fair and there are shuttle service from hotel to manhattan everyday. Actually the shuttle is just a 7-seat private car, so the reservation run out shortly. The wifi sometimes not working, sometimes quite slow too. But a good deal if you find a cheaper place to stay near manhattan.

Enjoyed our stay, breakfest was great and the people their were really nice helpful. They had a shuttle into New York daily and was only four blocks from a subway station.

I wanted a place to stay that was moderately priced, but in a convenient location around Manhattan. Queensboro Hotel provided both. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room. The bathroom was a little shabby, and there was trouble with flushing the toilet, but otherwise all things were functional. The hotel was clean, and made a good place to crash after a long day having fun in The City.

if you don't mind a short train ride to Manhattan this is a great place to stay. With a more than adequate continental breakfast, simple yet clean rooms and a very friendly and cordial staff, you are sure to enjoy your time with the Queensboro hotel. I will certainly stay there again upon my return to NYC.

Every time when I go to NYC, I stay in Manhattan but Queens for this time. I don't have a car so I used subway to get there. It says it takes 10mins but it actually takes more than that. I walk pretty fast but it took 12mins or so, which means for normal, it may take more than that.. probs 15mins?? In the morning it's okay but when you come back from the City, it'd be tiring way to get back this hotel. Other than that, hotel service was quite fine for the price. Fresh breakfast every morning. The doorknob in bathroom was broken, the hallway was kinda smell though.. It'd be a great place if you come by car, the location, and the great night view of the city!!

Instead of staying amidst the extraordinary hustle of Times Square/Manhattan, I chose to stay at the Queensboro Hotel. I was put in a room right near the front desk and breakfast area and told it was the last king bed room available. The room was OK, except the shower. The curtainrod was broken, so the shower curtain wouldn't stay closed and some mediocre attempt at a repair was made previously. The shower head was an adjustable version, which was also broken and slid down the pole it was attached to. The location is not very good either. It is noisy inside the rooms since the Expressway is right outside the window. There's nothing to do within walking distance, and the nearest train is 15 mins or so away. I asked the front desk to call me a taxi. He called me a car, which charged me $40 to go into Manhattan. The cab fare back was only $20. There was a ton of noise in the lobby area the second night until about 1:30 am. I had to call the front desk twice and threaten to speak with a manager in the morning before the rowdy crew was told to disperse. Not a pleasant stay at all. Positive feedback: the lady who works during breakfast was great and parking is free.

Family of 4 in one room. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Shuttle to Times Square very convenient. I left my camera behind in the shuttle bus, but got it back after returning to the hotel that night. Thank you so much! 10 mins walk back to hotel from 40th St station on the 7 Subway : not a wealthy neigbourhood, but really safe. Room was fine, carpets and curtains can do with some washing but bedlinen and towels very white and clean. Complimentary breakfast good. For the amount of money we spent we were very happy with the hotel.

A comfortable stay at a reasonable price; quality and variety in the hot breakfast; nice cafe atmosphere in the breakfast room - chatted with a pleasant couple from Europe; nice arrangement with a local YMCA where we could swim and work out; arranged the night before for a ride in with their minivan - nice to leave the car parked; took the subway back to Queens from Manhattan - hotel staff had offered us a pick up at the 40th St station (7 train) but since it was a mild evening, decided on getting a little exercise to do the 10 minute walk through the Sunnyside neighborhood to the hotel from the station. The staff were very responsive - much appreciated - thank you. We'll be back when we're back in NYC.

The room was adequate for the price and a one night stay. The staff seemed incompetent handling their customers. Long walk to the closest Subway Station. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Room. Very small, but clean. The parking was horrible missed my broadway show because I was blocked in in their parkinng lot. The night clerk tried to help. Now I am out 340 dollars,my wifes valentine gift.

nice location near to subway, best part is shuttle service to LGA airport,34th street, 42nd Time sq.

Great hotel the bed was a little hard but the room was good

Most cheap hotels if you're lucky you get a banana and an oily muffin. This place had eggs bacon and waffles! The lobby was nice, the rooms were clean and nicely furnished and though tight there was even parking. My one complaint was that the mattresses were a little hard but for the price, I can't really complain.

usually hotel check in times at 3:30pm we arrived a little early around 3:oopm or so casue we was driving. we also book hotels and if we reach there a little early we check in case were so exhausted from the trip and this hotel charged us $35 for an early check in by the time check in was complete it was already 3:15 so they made money off us just because we check in a little time before 3:30 usually if the room is ready and the guest are close to the time other hotels don't do that.

clean and surprisingly quiet for a cheap hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cheap furniture in the rooms, but I would rather have that than filth, noise and rude staff. Would have been more convenient to Manhattan if the 7 train was running across the river, but not too bad even so. Front desk people were very helpful with parking help and directions. Folks may be disappointed if they paid full price, but for bargain rates, it is a good deal. Full breakfast included which is nice if you care to eat it. Does include fruit, fruit juice and yogurt.
