excellent location but the room i got on 3rd floor was very very small

A friend and I stayed in your hotel for the first time. We both liked the hotel. My friend thought that the rooms were a bit small, but we had an excellent stay, you have a very friendly and serviceminded staff. I would like to stay with you again on another trip.

I regularly use Best Western hotels but this is one I would not go back to. The reception staff were disinterested, gave out keys without needing to see proof of your room number (no security). Room tiny, bed must have been cut down as my feet were against wall and radiator and you lost part of the bed under the curtains. Shower not clean and was broken. It was same price as other hotels I use but not worth the money and let the Best Western name down

I really like this hotel.....however, it would be helpful to have people at the front desk who are more familiar with London. And, the pillows are awful!

I chose this hotel, because it is a Best Western hotel. Yes, Best Western hotels are usually a bit better than this one, but this is London. The room was very clean and the bathroom looked quite new. Very comfortable bed. The single room wasn't too small. You can hear noises from other rooms, especially steps from above, so some people may need to sleep with ear blugs. The location is great. The breakfast room was a bit too small and very hot, but the food was OK. I will probably go to this hotel again, it is not easy to find good and affordable hotels in London.

For a hotel of this price class, this was surely one of the best. The rooms themselves are small as one would expect. But unlike many other small hotels, this one offers a decent lobby and lounge and a bar. A computer was available for use. "Continental" Buffer Breakfast was above average offering the usual tea or coffee, rolls, ham, cheese, and on one day hard boiled eggs. Full English breakfast is also offered and is good and not overpriced. The location was very good, a 3 minute walk from Bayswater underground and 5 minutes from Queensway. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. An urban shopping mall was practically across the street. The area itself is not that noisy, but with the large amount of tourist traffic in the area, one hears the occasional rolling suitcase early in the morning.

A convenient small hotel handily placed for my purposes in London. there are no meals provided, other than Breakfast, but there is a range of places to eat nearby; I particularly liked a small place on the same road as the hotel that serves Morroccan food at a reasonable price in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Hotel's decor is perhaps a little tired, but it seems to be heavily used and is central to many London attractions so that is not too surprising. I shall use it again. Brian.

Hotel was OK, buft the elevator/lift was out of commission much of the time, making it a pain if you were on a higher floor.

The stay was fine, room clean and location was good but the staff were not overly friendly or helpful. Seemed as if they would have liked to check you in without saying a word. Any information you wanted had to be asked for.

What a darling hotel! It had all the charm of old time hospitality! It was so quaint and cozy. We loved the breakfast downstairs! The staff was so sweet. I understand all your heat is pumped up from the gas lines below, so there isn't much you can do about the rooms being too hot. But, aside from the hot room, we were very pleased!!! Kathryn P.S. Single travellers generally expect a small room, and this was one. But the bedlinen was spotless, the bathroom immaculate, the hot water hot at all times, and the little bonus items like the soaps and shampoos and tea coffee and biscuits fine and always renewed the next day. The buffet breakfast too was good: plentiful and varied, with nice fresh ham and yoghurt. Excellent value for central London, and only minurtes from Bayswater tube.

To be fair, I opted for the lowest rate. While I was expecting a small room, the I give the hotel credit for squeezing my bed into the space allotted to it. The nice thing about having such a small room is that it encouraged me to go outside. I spent very little time in my room as a consequence. Not a com,plaint, just an observation. If you are travelling for business, this may not be the place for you for the above reason and the internet kept cutting out on me frustrating my communication with colleagues overseas.

Exceeded my expectations when compared to a lot of London hotels in the same price range. Very very convenient...close to the tube station, shopping center on same block, lots of eating choices. Staff was very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Friendly, helpful staff, small but comfortable, clean rooms, good breakfast and super area. Incredibly convenient, close to all transit options, shops, restaurants, everything you need for work or pleasure trip. Free wifi throughout hotel. I stayed a total of 10 nights and it could not have been easier to get around! Second time staying in this neighborhood on business but a much nicer hotel in every respect. Would definitely stay again.

No heating in my room in February, and something strange in the tub.

I will use this hotel next time I will trip to London.

Stayed here for a week for business and have no complaints. Not a huge room, but it was all I really needed, and the free WiFi and inclusive continental breakfast made it better value than other nearby hotels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great for a wide variety of restaurants and easy to get to two different tube stops or 10-min walk to Paddington. I'd stay here again.

I visit london a lot and always stay in Bayswater. I stay either at the Phoenix or London House Hotel, right next to each other. For the money, it's great. Bayswater is an awesome area though not walking distance to the main sites. But two subway lines are 3min away. Perfectly safe and fun area. Rooms are TINY though. Don't expect area to do jumping jacks. Breakfast is fine. It's clean, staff is nice. 15minutes by tube to Big Ben

I chose this hotel for two reasons. One, it was convenient to the embassy where I had a meeting first thing in the morning. Two, it claimed to have free wi-fi in the rooms. The second claim was, effectively, a lie: while I was able to get access to my email, I was unable to access a wide range of quite common websites (including Facebook) and in particular, was unable to log into my bank and credit card websites. (In the end I was forced to go to the internet café in the mall to take care of some business – clearly, not a good solution.) I reported this problem to the front desk a number of times but it was not fixed. The room itself was astonishingly cramped (I kept banging my arms on the knobs in the shower) and had extremely thin walls: in fact, on one night I had to be moved to another room because of the noise from next door (I will say that the front desk were very helpful about this.) The surrounding neighborhood, Bayswater, is a dreary sort of place with one or two good dining options but little else to recommend it. In particular, none of the bars appear to have gotten the memo about England’s early closing laws being reformed – they all seem to shut down at 11 pm, whereas in other districts of London they stay open to a more civilized hour. Summary: more cramped and expensive than a New York hotel; more uncomfortable than a Cambodian guesthouse; internet (amazingly!) less accessible than in a Chinese hotel; neighborhood dismal; pretty much the worst hotel experience I’ve had in the last five years; all in all, way to not live down the stereotypes of London hotels, guys. Not recommended.

Rooms are small as are all European hotels but was very clean and had modern bathroom. Continental breakfast was included in room rate and was satisfactory. Two Tube stations within a couple of blocks and plenty of restaurants, pubs, shops, markets, and even a great shopping center all right around the corner. All-in-all for the price the hotel was in a very good location and we would recommend it and stay here again.

Smallest room (single) I've ever stopped in and the bathroom was even smaller, couldn't do anything in there without banging in to something! Room was clean and Hotel location OK - fairly quiet and the area is quite good lots of restaurants etc. But overall disappointed for the money spent. Will not be going back.

The hotel is in a great location, just a few minute walk from the Bayswater tube station. The friendly staff made the experience very convenient. The room was small, although the private bathroom was a big plus for this area.

I was surprised seeing a Best Western hotel with the old-fashioned room keys instead of key-cards. A small safebox in room would be convenient to have. The door to the bathroom could open only a quarter way as it was hitting the bed - not enough space to open the door. The breakfast was good.

OK hotel, the staff was helpful, location is great. The room is pretty small for the money and not all that updated, so I'd only give it a 3/5 but the location and staff bump it up a bit. Breakfast was a plus, too.

I stayed at the Best Western Phoenix Hotel as I liked the look of the hotel when searching on the internet. It was not the best hotel I have stayed at but definitely not the worst, some where in between. I would not have liked to have stayed there in hot weather as there was no air conditioning., although a fan was provided. The day I arrived was a very warm day and terribly hot in the room... I had to leave all the windows open. I did not mind that as the hotel is situated in a very quiet spot of Bayswater. Infact the hotel location was ideal,, it is two turnings left turning right out side of the station...there are loads of restaurants, bars etc in the local vacinity. I had to get to the Albert Hall which I found dead easy about half an hour from the hotel. I did not have the continental breakfast or any breakfast that was offered simply because I wanted to get up later than the breakfast time ended. Cannot comment on the food at the hotel. Some of staff were more friendly than others which put me off a bit on arrival. I was worried at what the condition of the room would be like at the reception area is not very appealing. I was pleasantly surprised though. The room was adequate, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed. I felt the rate I was charged for two people for one night was about right.

This was my first stay at the Phoenix, but I have stayed in the Bayswater area. The hotel was very nice and affordable. You can't find a better location. Park, tube stops, pubs, restaurants and shopping all in a 10 minute walk. All this and it's still in a quiet neighborhoodj ust one block off of Queen's Way.

Having stayed in a few hotels in London this one rates dead last. My first room had no window locks, a broken TV, burned out lights, smelled 'sweaty', and there was a veneer of ancient filth on the walls, carpet and desk (Room 315). After insisting on a room change based on the grounds that my belongings (e.g. work laptop) were not secure in the room -- because the window did not lock and opened directly onto the roof, I was eventually given a new room. The staff was so rude about my request I was a bit surprised (it was at 1:30 p.m. - just after check-in!! The hotel was otherwise deserted.). But given the lack of security for my belongings, I simply was not going to take 'no' for an answer. On the positive side, my second room was better. It was clean to be sure and had a locking window but the mattress was 'sprung' and the bed slanted to one side so sleep was difficult. However, the breakfast is surprisingly good and the morning staff was pleasant and very friendly. The location of the hotel is great and there are a number of pubs, restaurants (Lebanese, Asian, etc.) and hair salons that make this neighborhood very, very attractive for a stay. Access to the Tube is also very good and there are a number of grocery stores and kiosks that are convenient if you need anything. So I can recommend the hotel with these caveats: early check-in and firm resolution with the check-in staff. If things are not to your liking, which they may not be at this hotel, state your case and be clear. Don't be a jerk of course, but in many cases something can be done, particularly when adequate security measures are not in place.

Price is right, however, you literally get a room not that much larger than the size of a bathroom for a single. The bed was comfortable enough. Receptionist at the front desk did not speak English very well which made for a difficult stay. I called and asked for a taxi and was only told none were available when I walked downstairs. Also, the shower head was spraying water all over the bathroom. I asked them if they could please fix it while I was out. I was told they would "see to it" but this never happened. Other than this it was a rather comfortable stay.

Location of hotel was ideal, close to a tube station, many buses and restaurants etc. Room was clean and the continental breakfast was very good.However the room was very small and poky.This disappointed me as I paid extra for a double room for single occupancy and it was incredibly small and dark. I stayed there at the end of July when it was very warm but unfortunately there was no airconditioning.The staff at reception were reasonably pleasant but I found them unwilling to give that "little bit extra" when looking for additional information etc. The television in the room had only two channels BBC1 and BBC2. This did not bother me however it could be annoying for people on a longer stay and the least they would expect is one of the news channels.

Best Western Phoenix Hotel located near to underground stations(District and Central lines) Room was VERY small, but clean. Continental breakfast was good. Generaly, it is ok for solo traveler.

The Phoenix is an adequate hotel with comfortable twin rooms in an easily accessed area, close to tube stations for all tourist attractions. Continental breakfast was very good. Hotel smelled of paint whilst we were there due to re-painting being carried out. Only complaint would be that we received two phone calls (no one on the line) and one from reception in error (whilst we were sleeping).

Nicely maintained hotel with lots of restaurants a short walk away. Helpful and friendly staff. Rooms (single) small (but this IS London!). Good breakfast.

A very well situated hotel, close to two tube stations and Kensington/Hyde Parks, restaurants and supermarkets. Rooms need new pillows, mattresses and carpets but staff are friendly and helpful; rooms are well equipped and the area is pleasant.

Spent three nights in Phoenix Hotel, Bayswater. I did stay there last year and was so impressed came back for another visit. I would have no hesitation in coming here again on my next visit to London. Abesolutely no negatives. Hotel clean, staff friendly and helpful and breakfast more than adequate. Just around the corner from Bayswater underground and across the road from Whitleys Shopping Centre.

Stayed one night while on business. Chose hotel based on proximity to appointments and because wifi was included. Room was very small and bed slid about on the floor which was strange and frustrating. Asked for a good view but all double rooms overlook ramshackle 3rd world country-style rooftops. Told there was a bath in the room and there wasn't. Biggest complaint was wifi. It cut out several times which was very important for my business needs. I called the receptionist and he spoke over me insisting he is not an IT expert and said it would be looked at the next day and then he HUNG UP ON ME! I would not recommend this hotel. The staff do not care about your experience and are unwilling to find solutions to things their customers value.

My experience at The Phoenix Hotel was excellent. I prefer a more local hotel without the tour busses and this met that bill. It was within short walking distance to restaurants, grocery store and shopping as well as very convenient to two underground stations and the charming Notting Hill retail district. The hotel was very clean, always plenty of hot water, housekeeping did an excellent job every day and the continental breakfast was not fancy, but fresh and excellent. I will stay there agsaain on my next visit.

Located just about a 5 minute walk to Kensington Gardens and a short walk to the train stop, this is in a great location, easy to get anywhere in London. It is on a quiet street. Our room was on the second floor facing the street, but were still able to sleep with our window open with no problem. The breakfast buffet was very nice too. The room was small, like most European hotels, but was very clean and up to date.

Location fine, Breakfast disappointing, people where sitting all over the hotel and had to wait in line for a long time just to get a seat. The WIFI internet really bad and slow. Clean rooms and fine beds and bathrooms
