We selected this property when visiting our daughter at DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. The property is great. It's location in Evanston make for great convenience for nearby attractions. However, the trip from Lincoln Park to Evanston on a Saturday afternoon was nearly an hour. Our fault for not knowing better.

Good for the price, clean and convinient, with nice restaurants close

Very well maintained hotel. Room was comfortable. The only drawback was the restaurant. Dinner menu is very limited. Breakfast was better but not great. Otherwise, it was a very good experience.

Quick review-usually stay at the Orrington in Evanston and thought we'd try the Hilton Gardens since the location was closer to were we wanted to be. Eh . . . checked in and out was greeted but come on guys - a smile would have been nice. Place was clean, room nice, EXTREMELY uncomfortable dial for comfort type of beds. Would we stay again - nope!

Good hotel with good service, especially during the Christmas holidays. We had a junior suite which was located on the 2nd floor over the walkway below. The floors were incredibly cold, even with the temp turned up to 75+. Also, the thermostat was hanging out of the wall - looked like it needed some repair. Even with those issues, it was a good hotel that was convenient to restaurants.

I stayed in a king corner room at the Hilton Garden Inn and found it to be very nice and comfortable. Multiple restaurants, movie theatre, shopping within walking distance of hotel. Subway is also within 5 min walk for travel into downtown Chicago or other areas. This was my first time in Evanston and I loved the quaintness of the community. Since I may need to travel to Evanston several times over the next few months, I plan to stay here again.

Let's begin with the check in staff. Completely incompetent staff tried to convince me that I only had 1 room reservation and dismissed me when i tried to show them my online receipt. Only when searched under a friends name did we find the 2nd room. If I paid for the reservation entirely by myself shouldn't all the rooms be under MY NAME??? Also the "free" breakfast they advertise online really isn't, so I paid more elsewhere at a place that doesn't falsely advertise.

Close to where we wanted to be - within walking distance of final destination. Convenient parking garage next door. Clean. Comfortable.

This hotel is situated perfectly - a 10-15min walk to the Northwestern campus, minutes from restaurants and shopping in Evanston itself and an easy cab ride / L-ride from downtown Chicago. Staff were pleasant and hard-working, and my room was incredibly clean.

Like the three day sheet change option though I only stayed two nights; positive green step. Though I hung my towel and face cloth for use again, I did not find them available for use again the second evening as there were fresh face cloths on the counter and four folded bath towels on the rack. Not a green step.

Hotel was wonderful and so were the employees. Only thing that could have been better is a breakfast buffet that was not quite so expensive - but even that was worth it for the convenience. Movie Theater less than 3 minutes walk away - LOVED IT!

Bathroom towels were not very clean.

Close to the Cinearts Theater which has wonderful movies. Plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance. The best...friendly staff, we had a comfy night's sleep, and loved being in Evanston...

Hotel was very hard to find upon our arrival in Evanston. Maple Avenue divides at one point and the hotel sign is impossible to see if you are walking from the parking garage on Maple or from the Davis Street station.

The good. Great and spacious rooms. Well decorated and with all you could need: little fridge, microwave, desk, complementary internet, etc. Excelent neighborhood: Lot of places where to go around. Close to the train station and with a cab stop in the corner. Restaurant in house with great menu for any meal of the day. The bad: No extractor fan in the batroom. Noise housekeeping in the morning. The carpets in the halls could use a shampoo.

Room was clean and comfortable. Didn't have a safe, but did have a mini-fridge. Location is extremely convenient to Northwestern and el station.

My family continually returns to and recommends the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago North Shore/Evanston as a clean and comfortable place to stay when visiting family on the north end of Chicago. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's walking distance from the Northwestern University campus, Lake Michigan, and lots of great places to eat. The hotel restaurant has a decent breakfast buffet for those who don't want to go out. We've always been treated very well here including a wedding brunch held in 2004. On my latest visit, the only negative was the Sunday night the four of us decided to stay in and have dinner at the hotel. The kitchen was understaffed and had run out of several items and key ingredients. I'm accustomed to waiting when I order from room service but it took just as long (perhaps longer?) to get our food in the restaurant. And it took almost a half hour from when the first two orders arrived to when the last was ready -- and only then because we insisted they pull it from the oven and deliver it without waiting for the cheese to melt. When my mother complained that it was overly seasoned the waitress admitted she had tried to warn the cook he was overdoing it. I will stay here again but next time I will go out for dinner.

My son recently moved to Evanston and this was our frist trip to this neat little town The hotel is in a fantastic location. Plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants all within walking distance including the beach. The staff was great. The only complaint I would have is the air conditioner was extremly loud when it would run. But, on the other hand the temp was in the upper 90's and I am just glad we had a nice cool room to relax in.

Suite was spacious & comfortable. Staff was nice but fell short in that they seemed indifferent and moved slowly to tend to things. The fire alarm went off during our first night (not their fault) but they did not have any hotel employees making sure everyone got out safely and did not offer any information during or after the incident. The following morning we had no hot water for showers and, again, staff seemed indifferent when we informed them of the problem. The water was not sufficiently warm enough for the next two days. The pool was not clean. The water was cloudy and there were hair clumps and bugs floating in it. (It is an indoor pool) They sent someone in to clean it and I was able to use it right after that, but it was dirty again the next day and day after that. I don't think I should have had to ask for a clean pool, it should be clean. If the filter was not functioning propery it should have been fixed. Also, we had to ask several times for more towels because housekeeping usually didn't leave enough for the four of us. The shame of it is that the room was spacious and quite comfortable and the location was within walking distance of many stores and restaurants, but since there was no effort made to compensate us in any way for all of the inconveniences we endured, (possibly they could have thrown in a complimentary breakfast or dinner - something; anything) I could not stay here again or recommend it to others.

We had to stay 5 nights, prepaid. The beds are nice. The desk and restaurant staff are excellent --- helpful, prompt, happy to be of service. But on a hot summer week, this hotel has (a) windows that do not open and (b) moldy-smelling, very loud in room air conditioners blowing unclean air and mildew at you all night. We changed rooms twice, then gave up. One of the air conditioners made the noise and the smell, but did not cool. The others, well, I caught a bad cold and several sleepless nights did not help. In sum, very nice people working here but they cannot overcome the poor quality of the air and odor in the rooms.

This is hotel is perfect for the family as they bring their children to Northwestern University. Everything is within walking distance, including the campus and the heart of Evanston. It's also an affordable place to stay when you pick up your kids after graduation.

Very good overall. Great breakfast buffet.

We loved this Hilton Hotel in Evanston, Illinios. We were visiting my son who goes to Northwestern University, and it was close to everything. Everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to help us with anything we asked for. We will definitely be back, and it would sure help if we could get a discount on this hotel again, since my son is going to college there and the expenses for him and us traveling from Iowa to visit him. Thanks for the pleasant and friendly stay. Peggy

We stayed for two nights and found the location to be great since it is next to Northwestern University. Parking is next door in a public garage. Breakfast buffet is first rate...but it is pricey. Room with Double Beds was spacious and clean. Free shuttle service to the university was great.

I was very pleased with our stay. We used the EL which was only two blocks away to take downtown. We brought our bikes and biked along the lakeshore by Northwestern and headed north on Sheridan Rd. as far as Glencoe. It beautiful ride to admire the gorgeous homes that line the lake. Our only regret was that the highly rated cookies were not alway available at the front desk.

Great location, close to campus. Many restaurants and nice shops nearby. Movie theater right across the street. Walking distance to the shore. Staff is polite and helpful. Breakfast service is tasty and well done. If you check the box that you don't want to receive a newspaper, forget it - you're getting it anyway.

I found this Hotel to be very convenient and within walking distance of Decent Restaurants and within 2 blocks or so of mass transit into the City of Chicago. The only negative is that the doors have such strong springs to automatically close behind you that I locked myself out of my room while paying for a pizza and every person on my floor coming and going made for a disturbingly loud noise on a regular basis. Otherwise quite adequate and well situated. Very pleasant personell

Needs some updating..expected more for the price! but location was perfect and the rooms were very clean just a bit old.

We've stayed at this hotel several times since 2004. It's a lovely property and its staff knows its hospitality. The only disappointment we had on our last visit (and it was a very small one) was that we couldn't find a TV channel guide -- either on paper or on the TV itself.

Great room, reasonable rate, and lovely hotel conveniently located to downtown Evanston. Room had mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker, so we really made ourselves at home. King-sized bed was super comfy.

although this hotel said adjacent to Northwestern, it was further than Hilton Orrington. the staff was great! Cookies were awesome! a goood value for the money

This was probably the quietest hotel I have ever stayed at, and it was Spring Break week! The doors closing didn't shake the walls, which was a treat, and once the door closed, I couldn't hear anything outside my room. I was traveling with my 3 year old, and she had a great time. The only downside was that the pool was quite cold that evening, and she lasted about 10 minutes before lips turned blue and shivering started. The beds were comfy. Digital TV was sporadic, but fine. Not much of a view from our room, but we were sleeping, not sight-seeing out the hotel windows. Breakfast options were EXCELLENT and well worth the money. Was grateful they charged me for just myself and let my 3 year old eat free. Getting into downtown Chicago from this hotel was super easy, and took mere minutes. I plan on staying here again the next time I travel to Chicago.
