For a 3 star hotel, the rooms were too basic. the TV in the room didn´t work, there was no radio. The rooms on the second floor over the garage, was over loked by local residents, there was no screening on the windows. if a guest was placed on the 2nd or 3rd floor rhey would never be able to get a large case up the spiral staircase. the breakfast room was nice and clean, but the breakfast assortment was too limited, if you stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor you have to walk the full length of the hotel just to get to breakfast.

The reception staff are at best, rude or hopeless, or, at worst, fundamentally dishonest. Expect no help from them with the kinds of problems that afflict travellers such as, in my case, baggage going astray. On arrival one receptionist, on seeing my name, announced that my bag had been found and would be delivered overnight. The next day his colleague announced that the bag had not been delivered and it was my fault for flying with a cheap airline as they constantly lost bags. He stated that if I had flown with SAS or British Airways I would not be wasting his time now as they never lost customers baggage! I don't know which planet this gentleman is on, but it's not the same one as you or I... Anyway, on with the saga. The next day a third receptionist did some vague hand fluttering when I asked whether my bags had been delivered, but didn't seem to know anyhting about them. On the day after that I met up with the first receptionist again. His rude colleague (the one who believes that bags are never lost bt SAS or BA - remember him?), when he saw me coming, pulled the first receptionist to one side and muttered in his ear while casting dark looks in my direction. When the first receptionist came back from this briefing he announced to me that: 'He had never said that my bag had been found.' that 'It must have been someone else.' and finally 'There are so many guests that he can't tell one from the other.' At this point he looked very pleased with himself, while the rude receptionist looked on with approval, obviously pleased that the party line had been delivered correctly to annoying guests like me who insist on not flying with 'proper' airlines... If you like being messed about while you're on holiday, and having unpleasant individuals score cheap points at your expense, by all means stay at this hotel. If, like me, you feel that giving people a reasonable amount of money entitles you to the ordinary respect you would give to your fellow human beings, or at least

Averarage level hotel with sustainable good location, near Stockholm south station (metro). Not high class nut you can spend night there.

The location was really good, very close to the great part of Södermalm. The hotel offered us another room, because we would rather a room with a window. We had lost a ring in the first room and they did their best to find him and found him. Thanks again. The breakfast was really cared.

Excellent location-easy to Central Station-3 minutes on the train. As advertised and very knowledgeable and helpful staff.

Hospitality was not a key concept in this hotel. If you asked for information, you did not usually get it, at least the information you wanted to have, even after several requests. The room was really drafty and thus fairly cold; the shower drain did not work properly, resulting in a bathroom flood; there were only two smallish towels, no bath mat or face/hand towels. Breakfast was good, and breakfast lounge service the friendliest.

Alexandra Hotel is located in a quite good area in Southern Stockholm. There are short walking distances to the train station and subway stations, and some nice restaurants and a grocery store nearby. The hotel itself was really good in a comparison to its price. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was well-organized. The room was really small but clean, a little bit oldish but satisfying still. If the most important thing for you is to find a nice, clean hotel with a good location but small budget, then go to Alexandra!

This hotel is in a great location that is walking distance from the public services. I was only there for one night checking in at 2030 and checking out next morning at 0630. Stayed in room without a window. Didnt need one because of my check in time. Concrete walls, tv, soaking tub with shower. No frills no excitement. You get what you paid for. Room is clean, hotel was very quiet, front desk very helpful. Since there was no window the back wall was fully curtained off but had lighting behind the curtain so that you felt that there was a window with light shining through when it was on. Nice touches include free high speed internet and the breakfast was really nice for the low amount that you spend in renting the room. Would stay there again but would suggest a different room if you have children.

This 'hotel' has a hostel-feeling with private rooms and bathrooms.

good hotel but not enough for having a rest with close friend. noise outside (in the corridor), far away from central railway station.

good hotel/location lack of windows isnt good

The location is away from the center but only a few blocks from several metro stops. We even walked to the Viking ferry terminal when we left. The four-person room was comfortable although the toilet/lavatory was small. The main drawback was the spiral staircase up from the ground floor, which made it too awkward to take heavy, bulky luggage to the room. We left the luggage in the hotel storage room without incident. There are no elevators. The breakfast selection and quality were good but one morning we had to wait for a table. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Spent three nights in this hotel. The location is great: close to the commuter train, and 2 minutes walk to the going-out area. The rooms are tiny but clean and comfortable. I would come back here again.

As long as you are going in prepared for the small rooms and no-frills amenities - this place is great! The rooms are quite small. My single room basically only had space for the single bed and a small chair and desk. And the bathrooms are small, with the shower being only a curtain you pull around on the bathroom floor. But the bed was comfortable, and you had all the basics that you needed. So as long as you're prepared for having only the basics, you will enjoy this place. Internet was reliable, and not as slow as other reviews made me believe it would be. Breakfast is included every day as well, and it's a nice spread of meats, cheeses, and breads. And the location was perfect! It's just a 2 minute walk to the train station (which is only 1 stop away from Central Station), and only a 5 minute walk to the subway (Tunnelbana). The street itself is quiet and relatively residential, but it's right near the main street of Sodermalm, which is full of great restaurants and cafes. I would definitely go back to this hotel!

The hotel was generally satisfactory although not with any upgrades. However, the person at the front desk during the day was something less than helpful and not at all friendly. The person who was there at night was much better and more willing to be of help. It would have been nice to have clean towels each night or perhaps at least more than one towel each for the 3 nights.

Had a Cabin room: Very poor air flow inside the room, no windows, small room, hotel reception do not have any influence except inform the maintenance unit of the building. Internet connection speed was almost unusable. Location is decent - short walk from Slussen in a quiet area. Breakfast is ok.

My windowless room was fine. Clean and comfortable and the location is pretty good. Breakfast was ok.

Alexandra Hotel in Stockholm is a small hotel, placed conveniently close to both train and t-bana (the Stocholm Metro). It is only two stops from Gamla stan which is the beautiful old part of Stockholm. The Hotel is not fancy nor in poor condition, but what you would expect from a 3-star hotel. The breakfast is a mix of continental and various types of cereals. Nearby the hotel there is a small square with good opportunities for both dining and shopping or just a nice walk. Overall a good choice for a no-frill convenient stay close to city center, for a reasonable price and quality.

Hotel Alexandra is clean and fairly well located (not too far from Metro line). Two aspects were not as good as expected. One was the actual size of the room and the fact that it had a curtain which when opened revealed a brick wall instead of a window - there was no window at all! and the second was the service - very cold and unhelpful.

Its located conveniently, but the rooms can varied in sizes for singles, and are pretty small. Most windows open out to the main road at street level, and curtains had to remained drawn most of the time to maintain privacy. Pretty small breakfast area with slow WIFI access.

The hotel had the perfect location and not hard to find the way to it from the subway station Medborgarplatsen. I was in town for a concert in Fryshuset and this hotel was four minutes away (with the subway), so in that kind of way too, it was perfect location. even for a concert in Globen makes this very comfortable near. Nice and helpful personel. the room was pretty dark when you have to use the curtains, base floor and the street just outside the window. Signs showing where the breakfast room is, can be useful if they dont want the question "where do I find the breakfast?" from every customer. At the end even if it only was for one night, I could imagine myself come back again.

If you ever wanted to know what it is like to stay in solitary confinement without any natural light, this the the place for you, but certainly not for me!

I really enjoyed this hotel. It was cheap, staff were friendly and its in a really good location. 5 minutes walk from Subway station and 20 minutes walk from city centre They also had a good breakfast and had warm rooms which was good in the December weather. I would happily recommend it to people

As of 2010-11, there is at least one room that is tiny, has no window, has a bathroom the size of a closet with the shower head just sticking out of the wall next to the sink, broken hot / cold faucet adjustment, and uncomfortable furniture. Hey, at least you know you'll get out and enjoy Stockholm! ;) The location is decent, and at least you can still sleep in the room (even if you can't wake up for lack of sunlight....)

Hotel is a bit industrial but friendly enough staff. Bed was comfortable and shower was good but shower room smelt a bit damp and maybe even smokey, even though it was no smoking. Else the hotel is only about 6 underground stops from the center and cheap enough! Buffet breakfast was pretty basic. Main thing that annoyed me was the noise levels and cleaning staff seemed to be constantly going from before 9am for hours!

5 minute walk to Sodra Station...perfect location for a traveler. The room without a window was a mistake, it was incredibly hot in the room, with no air flow. Could not fall asleep for 2 hours both nights I stayed there, and did not use covers at all. Everything excellent except how hot the room was. I traveled in August, normal temps outside. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone, but think about having a room with a window before booking.

A good experience over all but room was stuffy-no air conditioning and windows nailed shut so no ventilation possible. Our room was on the first floor which could only be reached by a tight spiral staircase which would have been difficult to negiotate for some-no lift available. Room came with separate bedroom and lounge area which was good- bathroom facilites were clean and in good working order. Overall good value for money for hotel close to Globe. Easy links to metro.

Great value for money! Room was exactly as on the pictures. Hotel-staff are friendly and professional. If you're looking for a hotel that gives you value for your money and is in waling distance to the entire city centre then this is the hotel for you!! Small, cosy and very convenient location. Highly recommend it an will be staying there again next year when I visit Stockholm.

The big drawback with this hotel is many rooms including mine have no windows, I was aware of this but there is ZERO ventilation, no Air Conditioning and when a fan was requested from reception there were none. So warm and unbareable were the rooms that many guests kept the room doors ajar with shoes all night.

Hotel is well located in sodermalm. It is 3 stops from central station so if you are going to spend a few days and check out a few museums the Stockholm card is worth getting. Hotel doesn't have a lift or provide anywhere to do laundry. They also did not know where to go to get laundry done. Room was a good size but bed a bit hard on the back

The staff at the reception were extreamly friendly but the staff at breakfast...well lets say their cat must have died the day I went there. The room althoght tiny was very comffy and warm. The bathroom was lets say different seeing as there was no shower dish so the water went every were. I can honestly say that you get what you pay for but when you are on a budget like me it was very good value for money.

Exactly as I expected from the description. No frills, but staff were very helpful and was great value. Ideal location if you want to spend time on Gamla Stan/Sodermalm.

I am a avid travler and do not fuss about small things in the EU. But here is a few things about the hotel. I am listing everything not nit-picking just so you can prepare. 1. Dirty bathrooms. Mold, rushed cleaned, badly mopped and very old fixtures and wood. 2. no shampoo, wash clothes and 1 very overly used old thin towel. 3. no cups in room 4. 9;30 end to breakfeast....but they shut the door at 9:00 sharp! and food is very spartan 5. NO FRONT DESK HELP. Very short and not bothered to assist you with anything. 6. Beds are very old and hard and questianably clean. 7. The walls in my room were stained with "dripping" marks from something? food or only knows what. 8. TV only 3 channels if your lucky 9. pillows are older and very flat 10. Im not sure how its a 3 star even by the EU standards its maby a 1 star. *please note. I travel alot in the EU and for the price of this hotel its kinda rip off. I can adapt and overcome most things but this puts a damper on any trip.

We don't recommend this hotel for summer stays, if at all. We asked to get moved from teh first room because it was extremely hot, with the sun beating thru the windows, and no air conditioning. After much rangling,they moved us to another room, warm, but shaded by a big building. There are 3 large windows that should open to cool the room. However, they swing inward, and the drapery rods block opening them more than about 8 inches. It took many hours for the room to cool off before we could sleep. That happened every day. Leaving the drapes open for fresh air meant that everyone walking by on the sidealk could look in. Most of the rooms are at groud level and have this feature. We moved to the second floor for privacy - but that really is on the back side of the hotel, up a narrow spiral staircase, and is at ground level for a couryard, again, with people who could look in. The elevators are there, but haven't worked in a long time. We could not find a place to sit at breakfast. Very limited seating for the size of the hotel. We carried our breakfast back to the room. The hotel manager than proceeded to tell us we couldn't do that, and went into telling us that: 1. Americans can not rule everywhere 2. We have an attitude 3. The meal is free, and we should get up earlier to eat it, or not eat it at all 4. You get what you pay for, and this is a Hostel, not a hotel (News to us), so we should leave and pay more if we wanted more The next morning, he proceded to give us an unsolicited wake up call at 0630, 0700, etc. so we would wake up earlier to have breakfast before ruch hour. Great on jet-lag. The hot rooom conditions will go away during other seasons, but I doubt the managers attitude will change.

Some facts during my stay at the hotel Alexandra. 1. I received a room and a service during the breakfasts after my expectation. 2. The service of the reception was unexpected: - I came to the hotel at 11:30 h; the reception boss (Swedish person) responded my salutation with the words: “You are too early” (please note I had not any claims to enter earlier to my room); - the same person did not answer my salutation in English “Good morning” on the last day (he said me something in Swedish and after 5 min of talking told me it should be Good morning, too) – of course I could not understand what he said in his language; - the central electrical lamp in the room burned away – I informed the reception 3 times but I had to wait about 1 day to be changed; - I waited about 1 day to be repaired the air-conditioning installation of my room, too (please note I was in a room without window). With two words – the comfort in the room was over my expectations, the service of the reception (mainly of the reception boss) – not. I did not expect so negative position in Sweden - I found excellent organization and service during my business trip in Stockholm.

The only acceptable thing is hotel location -- it is 15 min to walk to the center. All the rest: poor hotel room, room cleaning (they ‘forgot’ to make up the beds and change towels), very restricted breakfast (bread, butter, ham, cheese, coffee) -- are of a low quality. One more good thing which is important for somebody is the great private sauna.

Excellent location 10 minutes walk from the centre, breakfast was more than you could eat.Staff extremely friendly and helpful with advice.
