Very good overall stay and would use again. We stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed the experience but we did use nearby restaurants most evenings. Breakfast was good and good free coach to the Canton Fair

A quiet and easy location for Guangzhou and definitely a haven away from the busyness and traffic of Guangzhou city. We stayed in the East building and it is safe and pretty at night strolling on the island and along the pearl river near by. The hotel is close to the metro which is easy to use and you could always catch a taxi from there.The hotel staff were friendly and could communicate in English. The room service was almost immediate and we felt well looked after but left alone. The breakfast was fine with plenty of choices both Asian and European. All in all I would recommend the Victory to anyone needing a quiet and comfortable stay in Guangzhou.

Location is good. Nice and quiet hotel. Pleasant Neighbourhood. I stayed in the West Wing and the standard room is extremely small. Toilet is newly renovated but furniture is old. I was told that the East Wing room is larger and nicer. The service staff were helpful and overall I would stay I had a nice and pleasant stay.

I have no regrets to recommend this hotel for everyone who plans to Guangzhou for leisure travel. The room, washroom, breakfast and service are better than my expected. I stayed two nights at the executive room of its West Wing. The room is well renovated and its washroom is really large and clean. Its complimentary breakfast buffet are free and delicious. And the hotel gave us an afternoon tea/coffee with cookies voucher every day to enjoy (FREE). Only 10 minutes walk to Chinese massage shop with have Chinese Herbal Doctoring service. Only 10 minutes taxi to every famous shopping street and other parks. The only weakness is its location is quite far away (nearly 25 mintues of taxi distance) from the Guangzhou East Train station with expensive hotel car service (about 200RMB each way). But you can simply to take a taxi (around 45-50 RMB per way).

I love Shamian Island, where Guangdong Victory is located, with it's artistic and art deco buildings. So very different from the rest of Guangzhou. Unfortunately, can't say the same of Guangdong Victory's service. First of, it a bit confusing re their East and West wing. Then they have various room categories to deal with that you won't be able to make rhyme or reason out of. We had the Business Executive Suite. I requested for a non smoking room with a king sized bed. At least they got the non smoking right. As for the king sized bed, if what we got was a king sized bed, then I must be a giant!!! (I'm actually just 5 feet 6 inches tall) Worst part came when I brother-in-law and his wife decided to join us on this trip. I booked another room a couple of days later and got the same price. However, when we arrived to check in, we were informed that my bro in law's room is on the West Wing which is the smoking wing, despite my non smoking king sized bed request. We complained and showed our booking forms and the front desk staff, after passing us around from staff member to staff member finally got around to explain that both bookings, mine and my bro in law's, were done on separate days and that mine had a "promo" upgrade to the East Wing (non smoking) while my bro in law's didn't hence they will have to stay in a smoking room. After much argument, then the objective became evident, to be "upgraded" to a non smoking room, bro in law will have to pay RMB50 more a night. They just agreed as we were dead tired from traveling so far. But this just goes to show that there seems to be something terribly wrong with this hotel. After all that brouhaha about promos and discounts, smoking or non smoking, when we checked out, the front desk actually forgot to charge my bro in law that add'l RMB50!!!

The reasons I do not recomond this Hotel because the front desk clerk try to rip me off. The cost of Tax from the Hotel to airport should be HK $80.00 instead he tell would cost me $ 300.00,

I live in Hong Kong, so I use this hotel every time I visit Guangzhou, which is at least twice a year. We used to stay in the East building, but since they renovated the West building, we prefer to stay there. This hotel is excellent value and the buffet breakfast is of decent quality. I have stayed at 5 star hotels many times, but prefer staying here due to location, service (as in no complaints), and bang for your buck.

Nice hotel with green surrounding. Got non-smoking room as requested. Hot & Cold Water dispenser in hotel. Room clean with all necessary toiletries. Room is clean with comfortable bed. 10min walk to Shang Xia Jiu Jie & Huangsha station near Holiday inn. Abt 30min drive fr GZ airport. Need to place deposit of CNY500/room, friendly staff. Accomodate request for 2 keys/room with 2 registered guests/room. 7-11 & Starbucks nearby. Near to Pearl river, nice lightings at night.

the hotel is located far from what I need, such as Metro station and shopping mall, good for the visiters who need quite place

Rooms not clean, very small even by Chinese standards. Bathroom, carpet and walls all in bad state of disrepair and we checked several different rooms to confirm if ours was a one-off. It wasn't. Staff friendly enough, nice hotel surrounds and location. Would not stay here again, I have stayed in many hotels in China that I would recommend before this one.

Good location as it's in the old westernized area. Metro station is not close, you need to take taxi to the hotel. If you don't have a big baggage you can walk. Main building (West building) is traditional and a little old, while East building is nice and clean, but not bar at site. Overall, it's a nice hotel.

Got a cheap "standard" room, as it was the Canton fair and rooms were double the price everywhere. So I had no window, and the wallpaper really needed to be replaced. But the location is great, and the service excellent. Overall, I would go back (but in a better room!)

The executive rooms in the west building, (older than the east but renovated in 2007), provides free internet and free breakfast, (we saved over $100). The buffet is outstanding, featuring easter/western fare. The room is spacious and we had a large, private balcony on the third floor. Romantic setting and a large, clean bathroom. Very comfortable bed. The only complaint for this traveler was the cost to print a document in the business center...this adds up and is unnecessary. Overall, a great hotel in a great location...Shamian Island is a special place in China and Guangzhou!

The hotel, from lobby to rooms, is very clean. The staff are courteous, helpful & they speak conversational english. Breakfast was alright. Pillows & beds are a little bit hard. But overall, good value for money.

Having visited Guangzhou many times in the past 7 years, and stayed in many hotels in the area, this continues to be one of my favorites. It is a clean nodern hotel with clean comforttable rooms (and beds) in an great location on Shamian Island. Excellent restaurants nearby (and a Subway Sandwich Shop next door). I am very satisfied with the quality of the hotel. The surrounding is nice, the staffs are helpful and the room is clean and well-equipped. I think this hotel is much better than the other hotels which are twice more expensive in the same region. Besides, I am happy with the internet service provided, which is free-of-charge. It would be even greater if breakfast coupons were provided instead of tea coupons. But anyway, this hotel is comfortable and good for business trip.

We were transferred free of charge by golf cart to the metro station when we checked out, which was also very impressive. In all we had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Only minor complaints: why the hotel didn't want to change AUD? Lucky we had some HKD in hand otherwise at that night we would have been unable to go out to shop.

We got a great price on this hotel-it was especially important because we were staying for 7 nights to adopt our son. It is in a great location and the room size is adequate. The only minus of this hotel is the food. However, there were many great restaurants within walking distance. They had a play area for children but it was for children younger than 3 years old. I would recommend they have space for older children. Our stay at this hotel was pleasant because of the excellent doorman service. They were polite and very friendly.

A well located hotel in peaceful green surrounds, but close to everything via the nearby Metro and riverside walkways. On arrival despite the highly discounted rate we'd paid, we were upgraded to a suite - a spacious room with large balcony, overlooking attractive parks. Breakfast choices were somewhat limited, but well priced. Highly recommended

Despite that we had to walk to go to the station, the hotel is comfortable. The staff is friendly. The hotel is comfortable situated in an old block but you find something better for the same price.

The hotel was very nice...staff speaking english...and very frindly...rooms was clean...bed very comfortable...nice location I like soo much the complementry sweets with the good night card every night...It was some thing special...and also they was cleaning the rooms twice a day...realy they was excellent in every thing... the only problome we faced as we are muslims there are no water in the toilet to wash up.... but in general...i think every thing was OK... I will book the same hotel for my next stay...

I was only planning on a one night stay for my business trip. Due to unforeseen circumstances i had to extend my trip for another night. Although the hotel was a little pricey, I was willing to pay for it. I had enjoyed my first night in the room, the queen sized bed was so soft and comfortable and i had it all to myself! Overall the cleanliness was 5 out of 5 stars. On my second night, complimentary fruit was served. While i was out, my room was made for the 2nd time that day, a little sweet treat placed on my pillow to wish me goodnight, which i thought was a nice touch and put a smile on my face. Having stayed in many hotels in China, i must say I am impressed by the decor, the impeccable service and the cleanliness. Good work!

Very nice area, there is a Chinese medicine center that gives great massage nearby. Good breakfast and transportation to the Pazhou Complex. Just a 30 minute drive. Will be back for sure.

Excellent location within 2 blocks of the river, parks, pleasant shops, resturants in historic district of Guangzhou. Metro was a five minute walk. A very pleasant surprise. Highly recommend.

We selected the Victory because of the price for their suites. The Japanese suite gave us lots of room, and that was very nice. The breakfast buffet was very average. Basic eggs, bacon, noodles, and breads. The other issue was that our room was very damp. The bedroom became very humid, to the point that papers would curl if left in there. Still, this is a nice hotel for the price.

only one bad point: the quality of the room door. I heard some people laughting in the corridor during the night. It awaked me. However, goof furniture, great location and good price.

If you stay at the Victory Hotel in a business room you get some of the best value in Guangzhou. Not ony do the people behind the desk do their best to help you but every other member of staff tries to make your stay as stress-free as possible. They even throw in afternoon tea as well. The subway is close by and there is never any problem getting a taxi. It's just off the main drag and is largely traffic free and because of Shamian islands size you can walk everywhere.

Vi har ett barn på ett år och ville ha lite ytor att promenera på, men ändå nära till allt. Victory Hotel fungerade perfekt, med lite avskildhet och strandpromenaden som led till onelink plaza för brutal shopping. Frukosten var lite dyr, men väldigt god.

Bon emplacement, proche du métro. L'île de samoan est très agréable à visitée. Très bien

第一次入住東翼期間, 一切感覺良好, 唯獨是暖氣不足, 令房間寒冷. 第二次入住西翼, 提升入住客房, 包括獲得提供早歺, 暖氣足夠. 我們入住期間, 感覺很舒適.

ホテルは租界地区にあり、洋館が建ち並ぶ町並みがおしゃれでした。ホテルマンのサービスもよく、タクシーを呼び、行き先を伝えてくれた後、タクシーナンバーを控えた用紙を渡してくれました。セキュリティー対策のようでした。地下鉄の駅が近くになく、不便かと思いましたが、タクシー代も安く、気になりませんでした。毎日、ウェルカムドリンクのサービスがあるようで、ラウンジでクッキーとともにいただきました。毎日、消耗品（歯ブラシ、くしはもちろん、スリッパまで）の追加がありました。暖房を強めると乾燥が気になるので、毛布がもう1枚ずつあるとよいと思いました。

建物は古いので設備面では決して良いとは言えませんが、メンテナンスはちゃんとしているようで、それなりに快適です。働いている人の対応が良いので気持ちよく宿泊出来ますが、タクシーが常時止まっておらず、たまに不便を感じます。
