Steigenberger Nile Palace Luxor Hotel - الأقصر

Very friendly staff, restaurants were convenient and offered good variety. pool was heated but still a bit chilly to use in December. Internet surcharge was very expensive. Rooms were simple but adequate. Nightly entertainment is basically the same show every night.

The Nile Palace is certainly a lovely Hotel and one that I will stay in again on my next trip to Luxor. Very friendly and courteous staff with good hotel facilities. The Nile Palace is a great place to stay in Luxor.

I enjoyed the five nights I spent at this fine hotel in November of this year. I found the staff to be very professsional -- responsive and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The TV was a bit small and out-dated; but, I didn't travel to Egypt to watch TV. The fitness center/gym could use some more modern exercise equipment. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. I enjoyed having breakfast on the outdoor patio with a fabulous view of the Nile and the opposite shore. The nightly cultural entertainment in the courtyard is excellent. I would certainly stay there again. I felt very safe and comfortable during my stay. A restaurant in the area that I would recommend is The Jewel of the Nile, serving both lunch and dinner.

It is obvious that this is a German-run hotel chain - and I was glad. Everything was clean, tidy, kept up. Things I look for are: an excellent bed (these were); a gushing shower, preferably hand-held (yes); cleanliness (see above). The location is superb, right on the Nile River. Our room had a view of Hatshepsut's Tomb. At night the mountains of the Valley of the Kings are lit which makes for a surreal scene. Sunset is glorious - the felucas sailing, the motor boats zooming, and the sun setting in incredible oranges, yellows and reds. Our room had a balcony that was quite large. The only problem was that people on the floors above us could see into our balcony because of the stair-step construction. Rarely was anyone out, though. We did make friends with our neighbor because he would come out onto his balcony each evening for the sunset, too. The pool is an infinity pool, placed between the hotel and the Nile. Children are not allowed in the pool (or anywhere in the hotel) unaccompanied, which I find most refreshing. The hotel staff was friendly, gracious, knowledgeable, and always right there when needed. The food was delicious. There are several restaurants. We sampled the Nubia (the main one and where the free breakfasts are served), the Italian one Di Napoli (yum!), the Thai Restaurant (delicious), and the Lebanese one (pretty good). There is a delightful courtyard between the lobby and the restaurants - it has a fountain in the middle which splashes merrily and reflects the sunlight in broken diamonds. The shopping areas are scattered on two floors, the selection is quite good, bargaining is allowed - not as much as on the street. The hotel offers tours of everything close by and a little further away. After a hot day touring the fabulous Valley of the Kings, how wonderful to return to the beautiful pool area, take a dip, have an excellent lunch and take a snooze in an airconditioned room. I would recommend this hotel highly and will certainly stay here again.

the hotel itself is great, and as long as you expect to pay as much as your room rate or more for dinner for two people you will probably have an enjoyable time. As soon as you exit the hotel you will be hassled relentlessly by taxi drivers but even more aggressively by carriage drivers to the point where it's not worth stepping outside the hotel. It is a third world on your doorstep. on one other note it will not cost more than 55LE from the airport to the hotel, any more any you are getting ripped off... they will take as much as they can so be smart.

An amazing hotel with excellent service. The room was great, view was amazing, staff were friendly, helpful and polite. I am looking forward to staying there again. The only downside was that the restaurants were quite expensive so we ate out every night, as there are cheaper places to eat outside.

Very grand beautiful hotel, excellent service and superb food in both the Italian and Lebanese restaurants. Extremely attentive staff in both the lobby areas and shops. Very friendly reception staff willing to help with any questions. The rooms with the view of the courtyard are very pleasant with a nice view of the cafe area below. Very clean and good air conditioning. Unfortunately the road outside the hotel is swarming with very unpleasant taxi drivers who will follow you whenever you leave the hotel, try to get you to take a trip with them (rather than booking through a reputable travel agency) and generally hassle you relentessly (even on the 1 min trip to the local supermarket to buy water). Everything is superb about this hotel apart from the group of annoying/aggressive taxi drivers outside. We would strongly urge the hotel management to address this as it does not appear to be the case in other hotels in the center of Luxor. Overall the hotel is beautiful, with excellent friendly staff and we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luxor.

Excellent facilities. Good breakfast buffet. Food/drink price and quality as would be expected in a 5* hotel. Excellent service. Nice pool area with expansive Nile views. Good for post-sightseeing relaxation. Some pubs/restaurants nearby, but neighbourhood feels a bit like a 'tourist zone'.

Even though we had a distasterous booking into the hotel, it is in a fantastic position. The hotel is very tastefully decorated. It has a stunning pool area that looks over the Nile with restaurants surronding the pool. We stayed in the rooms on the road side which overlooked a gorgeous courtyard and eating area. We ate dinner in the Thai restaurant and the food and service were excellent. We unfortunately started our stay off in this hotel on a bad foot but I would definately recommend it if staying over in Luxor.

I've travelled to Luxor on a few occasions and normally stay in the Sheraton. For economy and for a less remote location I chose to stay at the Steigenberger. It claims to be 5-star but it is a poor 4-star in reality. It is in need of refurbishment and bringing up to date. The food and beverage facilities are very poor. The quality of food is low and the service is very bad. The courtyard that houses all the F&B outlets has a sad and soulless feel. It also doubles as the main thoroughfare for guests living on the Nile-side of the hotel which also gives it a gauntlet aura when entering or leaving the hotel. Food is expensive and drinks are more expensive here than in other, and much better, hotel bars in Luxor. Breakfast is a shocker! It has the clamber and allure of a school dining hall with very poor quality food. The coffee is disgusting. They cannot even manage to do fresh fruit without a feeling of huge disappointment for the eater. If you want a cheap few days and have no expectation of comfort and would prefer to eat and drink elsewhere then the Steigenbeger is the place for you. If you want to enjoy your stay in Luxor and don't mind being a little remote then head for the Sheraton.

Felt the hotel was run down even with an upgraded room. Buffet was plentiful however food quality was poor. Sorry that I opted out of the Hilton.

The hotel is nice but we picked it because they advertised it with a river view and we got an ugly street view instead. We told them and they totally ignored us, saying that we booked an economy room.

Staff - all extremely pleasant and helpful. Impressive public areas which were sparkling and generally very well maintained. Rooms - comfortable, spacious and clean. We booked room and breakfast - very good breakfast selection. Food - exceptional quality (for Egypt) and very helpful restaurant staff. Hotel food was a little pricey with no 'meal-deals.Internet connection was also over-priced.

The hotel has a center courtyard surrounded by a few restaurants (Lebanese, Italian etc.) Every night between 8 - 10 during our stay, there were several traditional dance performances in the court yard, a great way to dine and get entertained. The morning buffet has a wide variety of selection and the swimming pool area facing the Nile River is absolutely relaxing, especially at night. The hotel is however about 10-15 minutes from Karmal Temple. Overall, it's a great place to relax in Luxor.

I have no problem to recommend this hotel. Hotel is on the high street (or is it Hotel street???) in Luxor. Was in Luxor for business, but stayed on for a few extra days. The hotel rooms have three different views (street, internal patio and Nile view) Luxor temple is within walking distance but you will be interrupted by cab drivers /horse carriages if you attempt to walk. Hotel can arrange various sightseeing tours if you have nothing arranged. Very friendly staff at the various restaurants I tried and also in the reception. Hotel has a good sized pool close to the Nile with sun deck and pool restaurant. Limited garden or greenery (garden is sun deck, some palms and flowers though). Several restaurants with very reasonable prized meals (at least by Western standards) and friendly staff. Rooms are large, clean and decent furnished. Good beds and baths. Flat screens with several english and other language channels. Sofa and chairs in my room were some years old and of the "representative type" adored in the Middle East.
