I highly recommend. The shuttle service alone is a treat. All of the drivers are helpful and know a lot about the city. The facilities are charming and cozy. The main building is open 24 hours (with a key), and has a nice office space. Welcoming communal spaces and small libraries in some houses. The hotel is right next to the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the public library.

The Inn on Ferry St. is a jewel in the middle of Detroit. We spent our honeymoon night at the Inn and could not have asked for more perfect venue.

Loved the overall appearance of the hotel. Each room has a different look, which makes it unique. It also comes with a complimentary buffet breakfast, which is always a plus in my books.

Overall a very enjoyable stay. Staff were most polite and accommodating. We received cookies and a newspaper the first day we were there it would have been nice to have the same little extras on the second day of our stay - had we booked two separate single days we would have had both items I undersatnd. Breakfast was very tasty - itmes were fresh and plentiful, atmosphere pleasant. We used the shuttle - very handy. A bit awkward not having a regularly accessable pathway from the parking lot to our residence - had to walk around through the laneway beside Scott House - I assume this was a security issue so perhaps it was understandable. I would certainly recommend this hotel and have already done so!

This is a great hotel--unique, comfortable, feels much more personal than the typical chain. The historic buildings are interesting and well-maintained--active fireplaces in each lounge were a particularly nice touch. My room included a living room and was really spacious. Breakfast was delicious, the staff was very friendly, and free parking/internet were appreciated. I didn't feel super comfortable walking around by myself, but the Detroit Institute of Arts (fantastic), some nice restaurants, and a bunch of cultural institutions were right around the corner. Not being familiar with Detroit, I had thought about staying downtown and ended up being so glad I picked the Inn on Ferry Street, which is in a real neighborhood with things to do. Only downside--no fitness center. Apparently you can pay to use one nearby, but that's really not convenient. Also, be forewarned that there are no elevators in some of the buildings, which could be a problem for some travelers.

Arrived only to find out our room was flooded and there was no room at the inn (haha) for us. We were pretty bummed and going to be late for the hockey game when the clerk mentioned someone had checked out early but the.room hadn't been cleaned. Since we wouldn't be back until after ten we agreed it was no.problem and took the shuttle to the joe. We caught.the shuttle.back at the end.of.the.game and our room was ready. Service and.brunch were both outstanding. The architecture and feeling of each house was special and like no.other hotel we've ever stayed with. Amenities are not luxurious but the necessities are there! Would stay again in a heartbeat

Lovely houses in a picturesque neighborhood of Detroit. Excellent breakfast foods. We didn't use the free shuttle but it's an important benefit of staying there.

We have stayed at the Inn many times when we have visited Detroit. Each room is a visual delight--beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The authentic renovations have made the Inn a pleasure to visit, no matter where your room is located. The staff is always charming and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is a real breakfast with wonderful pastries, eggs, fresh waffles, and plenty of fresh fruit. The location is perfect for visiting museums and CCS and Wayne State. It is also close to major highways. A free shuttle is available for guests without cars. I always look forward to staying at the Inn.

This was a very comfortable, pleasant hotel, with easy access to downtown Detroit and a nice breakfast buffet. The only thing that was a problem was that the room telephone didn't work, so we couldn't call the front desk.

This hotel is very quiet and comfortable, and with their free shuttle service, very convenient to downtown Detroit. Also, they offer a very nice breakfast service every morning. This is the second time I have stayed at the Inn and I will definitely stay there again when I return to Detroit.

Wonderful historic inn with a great breakfast room and a nice breakfast. Beautifully restored and furnished. Too bad that we were too tired on arrival to take advantage of the free shuttle service that takes you anywhere you want to go in downtown Detroit. A short walk to the excellent Detroit Institute of the Arts. Very comfortable and relaxing room. Definitely worth it!

THIS WAS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY. THE ROOM WAS BEAUTIFUL AND VERY COMFORTABLE. GOOD COFFEE, COOKIES, BREAKFAST. WE WERE IN TOWN FOR A CONCERT. SHUTTLE SERVICE TO AND FROM CONCERT WAS FANTASTIC. IT ALLOWED US TO SAVE MONEY ON PARKING, NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DRIVING, GETTING LOST, ETC. OVERALL, A HIGHLY SATISFYING EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The hotel is really nice and the staff was quite friendly. We had limited control over the thermostat in our room: raising the temperature did not turn off the air conditioning. The surrounding area is mixed: some streets are nice and others aren't. We were very happy with our stay.

Our room was awesome and the houses were amazing. The free shuttle service was a nice surprise. The breakfast was not as good as other independent B&B's but was better than most hotels with continental breakfast. We will stay there again.

Simply a wonderful place to stay! Convenience to museums, public library and the shuttle service is A1. I'll be back next year!!

This is the only place to stay in Detroit! Fabulous mansions and period rooms. Wonderful breakfast.

My wife and I chose to stay at the Inn on Ferry Street for a weekend "stay-cation" in Detroit. After our experience, we wished this delightful inn was in another city like Chicago so we could stay more often. I guess there will be more stay-cations in our future. In short, it was one of the best hotels we ever enjoyed (and we travel together frequently). The service was friendly and precise. The room was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious. The vibe was cozy and historic. It's the first time I've ever stayed somewhere that I felt bad about using the towels in the bathroom (everything was so neat!). If you're coming to Detroit, this is the place!

We loved staying at the Inn on Ferry St. The service was great , the free shuttle was perfect, the breakfast was delicious, and our room was large and very comfortable. The only thing I will do differentely next time is make sure we do not have the room directly above the front desk. We could hear people coming and going throughout the day/evening. It wasn't a huge problem, but we'll make that special request next time. For the price and all the extras, we will definitely be back and recommend it to friends!

rooms are in a series of well preserved historic mansions in a very nice neighborhood.close to cultural sites, museums, medical center and Wayne State U. architecture of the hotel and other bldgs in neighborhood is breathtaking early 20th century - obviously the formaer homes of captains of industry. wonderful breakfast included and 24h coffee bar. very friendly & professional staff. rooms are comfortable, secure, quiet and just as quaint and charming as the historic Inn overall. sipping an afternoon coffee in a comfy chair in the main sitting room by the wood burning fireplace with gentle and tasteful music in the bkgrnd, mission style furniture, westminster chimes from the antique grandfather clock - felt like I was living in a Currier & Ives greeting card. free shuttle to & pickup from destinations w/i 5 mi - drivers expert, friendly and prompt. excellent little crepes restaurant literally just a 2 min walk around the corner. My business trip was like a vacation because of this wonderful setting and service.

Do not hesitate to stay here. The rooms and ground are immaculate, the staff is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the buildings and surrounding areas. The shuttle is a huge bonus. Check facebook for specials, I was able to get a jacuzzi room upgrade. Great facility, can't wait to return.

The place was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location couldn't have been better. I highly recommend this hotel if you have to be in Detroit.

Great location, wonderful hotel. A five-minute walk to Wayne State and less than that to the Detroit Art Institute. It's right on the bus line, too, so you can go anywhere cheap. For extended stays the same exact breakfast every morning gets old, but its a great place!

My husband and I stayed there for only one night. It was conveniently located to museums and the art institute. The room was clean, and the the bathroom was large. I loved the charm and character of the old house that is now a bed and breakfast inn. The breakfast was great. The price was too much but for one night it was ok. The only thing that that I didn't like was the lack of an elevator. We stayed on the second floor. Otherwise, it was a good choice.

This hotel is close to downtown but tucked away in a quaint little atmosphere. Very pleasant staff, comfortable room, shuttle service so we didn't have to drive around or find parking downtown. We will be back.

Don't stay at a chain unless on your on business and have to. Go somewhere unique for a truly distinct Detroit experience. You won't regret it!

Can't say enough about this place. We rolled in for the Movement Electronic Music Festival and The Inn made our stay in Detroit and extremely pleasant one. Excellent service, beautiful rooms and the free shuttle made getting to and from our various goings-on a breeze! We'll definitely book in with them again next year.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Detroit. It is a hidden gem in the heart of the city, a romantic stay. The decor is whimsical, they offer a shuttle service to places within a five mile radius (a plus not to have to pay for parking in the city), the breakfast in the morning hearty and delicious. The only problem we had was temperature control in our room--to which they provided us a fan. I would stay again in a heart beat!

I love this inn! This is the only place I ever stay when traveling to Detroit. I've never had a complaint until now. The inn is completely Smoke Free, but a guest on our floor insisted on smoking in their room. The entire hall reeked of cigarette smoke both mornings, and one evening of our stay. 2 complaints were lodged at the front desk, but the smell persisted. I have a severe allergy to cigarette smoke, and really needed management's assistance, but it was not received. I was disappointed, but will give them another chance.

Loved the experiemce. Nice room very close to Wayne State and breakfast was bountiful, healty and tasty. A wonderful experience.

The Inn on Ferry Street was wonderful. The buildings and furnishings, including a king-sized sleigh bed, and were elegant and heavenly. The breakfast was delicious and staff gracious. Tip for late evening, first-time arrivals ... you enter the drive flanked by the two gold-glow lights, park in the back lot, and enter the Scott House, which has a wooden handicap access ramp to the back door. Registration is in the house's front entryway. I look forward to staying here again and again.

The room was lovely and well maintained. They have a varied breakfast and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

My girlfriend and I spent 6 days at the Inn on Ferry Street and had just an incredibly wonderful experience! Upon Check-in, we were greeted warmly and offered complimetary tea/Starbucks coffee (that is available 24 hous a day to guests.) Our check-in was handled expeditiously. Upon getting to our room, my girlfiend and I were like..."WOW"...truly beautiful in every detail. Before going further, I should say that elderly or infirm travelers should ask for a 1st floor room. Our room was on the top (3rd) floor of the Pungs house. As there is no elevator, this involved going up and down 3 flights of stairs (with luggage at check-in/out.) I noticed a handicap lift outside an adjacent house, so accomadations can be made for the challenged travler. The room was bright and cheery, painted in a soft yellow throughout. Windows were plentiful on two walls, allowing for ample sunshine and cross ventilation (we never had to use the air conditioning during our stay.) Upon arrival, the weary travler is greeted with complimentary cookies (Otis Spunkmeyer) and two bottles of spring water. The main bedroom is done in a "sophisticated beach house" motif...beautiful, yet comfortable! There is a variety of (musical) CDs provided for listening pleasure, as well as a 32" TV with HBO. A writing desk, as well as two plush chairs are also provided. The furniture is white in color, giving the room a relaxing feel. There is a walk in closet, that easily provided room for six days worth of luggage (alot) as well as places to hang garmets, iron/board, hair dryer and extra blankets etc. The bathroom is a beautiful blue and provides a wonderful collection of toiletries, including soap, shampoo, conditioner, skin lotion etc. The shower was nice and relaxing. There was an additional changing area in our room with mirror, table, coffee maker (and tea.) The room was actually more like a small flat or suite. It was incredibly cozy and comfortable! The hotel was charming and the room had all the modern conveniences, while maintaining the character of a historic mansion. It was my second stay there and it will continue to be my choice when I visit Detroit.

excellant service and accomodations

Outside of one person who seemed to be in a bad mood everytime I saw him, we had a fantastic stay at the Inn. I stay there everytime I visit Detroit and it's worth every penny for the value!

Pleasant place to stay. Room was comfortable and homey. Staff friendly and the shuttle service is a big plus.
