It was a good spot, enough restaurants and drinking establishments around. Room was clean and staff very friendly. Don't miss the street market on Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Great stay at this hotel. The room is clean and comfortable, and the staff is helpful and courteous. The location is terrific: just a stone throw from the subway station, with a huge department store (KaDeWe) and a supermarket that stays open till midnight (closed on Sundays, just like everywhere else in Germany) on the same plaza. They have a good variety of choices at the breakfast buffet as well, although there are also many competitive offers from restaurants near by. Will definitely stay there again!

The staff was very friendly and the reception staff spoke excellent English. The rooms are currently being remodelled and updated. My room had not been remodelled yet, though it was worn it was still kept very clean, despite the "old hotel" smell, which will most likely disappear after updating. The breakfast buffet had great variation and taste and was very filling. The hotel is a short walk from Wittenbergplatz U-Bahn station and several bus routes giving great connections all over the city, it is also a short walk from Ku'damm and Breitscheidplatz.

Very good value for money. The hotel is situated very close to KaDeVe and the U-Bahn station Wittenberg Platz. The staff is nice and helpful. The Sorat Ambassador hotel is a bit worn down though, and could do with a general shine-up. The matress really needed a replacement, you could feel ALL springs in it (it might just have been me who were unlucky)

The hotel is close to the underground system and is in a useful location to use as a base to travel around the city of Berlin. The price that I paid was quite reasonable and I would use it again.

We were a little disappointed by the SORAT Hotel Ambassador. This hotel ranked higher in the number of stars against other hotels that we stayed at in other cities, but was of lesser quality. The location was close to a U Bahn station which made it convenient to travel to other stations throughout the city and service from the bar was friendly. WiFi is free, so kudos for that! We really liked the cafe around the corner for breakfast. Beyond that, the hotel was very dated. (circa 1980's) First time I have used a real key for a room in about 6 years. Because they use a real key, they felt the need to attach it to an inflexible key chain about the size (width and length) of a ruler. We needed to stick it in our backpack, because it would not fit in our pockets. Room looked like it belonged in the 80's, but since we were there to see Berlin and not the SORAT, that was not such a big deal. That said, the experience did highlight how much better the other hotels were. Bottom line is, the SORAT is a decent hotel and is worth staying in if it's in the location where you want to be. However, we suggest trying other budget hotels such as the Ibis to get the most bang for your dollar. The rooms are a little smaller, but they make up for it in service and conveniences.

Although the weather was not as hoped our stay at the Sorat-Ambassador in Berlin was comfortable and convenient to the sights I wanted to visit with my 11-year old daughter (her first trip to Europe) and my first to Berlin in 25 years. Sights and K'Dam shopping are a quick walk away.. access fro the Berlin Hbf (Main train station) is easy via the "S"-Bahn and "U"-Bahn system.. city tours and boat tours abound and excellent restaurant choices are available everywhere.. highly recommend the KDW just around the corner for shopping and a food court on the top floor that is beyond imagination for variety and international tastes. The Sorat-Ambassador serves a scrumptious breakfast buffet that's a bit costly but children are gratis. Late night the bar/lounge offers meals and drink at reasonable prices and there's even a small market around the corner open to midnight (excep0t Sunday) for those late night cravings.

Great hotel, near a metro station (200m left) and a bus stop (150m right). Excellent breakfast, with a great variety of cold and hot food. Minus: absence of air-conditioning and also of a refrigerator in the room

Super location. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are a little bit run down, but everything’s works fine. Nice and big bathroom.

If you are in Berlin to shop, then this is a well placed cheap hotel. Close to KaDeWe and the main commercial shopping strip, as well as close to the U-Bahn at Wittenbergplatz, it's a safe, decent area, although it lacks 'local' flavor. The hotel was ok, my room was clean, the breakfast with a great selection, but my room was musty and damp/old smelling. (I was in one of the cheaper unrenovated rooms). The staff were great at the front desk, helpful and efficient and I really appreciated the complimentary wi-fi. As a sole female traveler I felt safe not only in the hotel but the surrounding area, and with a bakery and supermarket, drug store and shops nearby, it was handy. The hotel was pretty much full of older people (and some family groups) seemingly on budget tours. If you just want a hotel to put your head down at night and with a strong breakfast to start your day then this is it. If you want a luxury experience or anything fancy, this is not the hotel for you.

A very nice hotel right in the middle of everything. very close to KaDeWe and U-bahn. Great breakfast every day. The entrence and restaurant are modern but the rooms could be a bit more up to date but on the other hand you just sleep there. If you have a car it is easy to park on the street or at the hotel parking. Can deffinitely recommend this hotel.

This was my third stay at the Ambassador, and while I cannot rate the accommodations as outstanding in any way, I always return for at least my first few one to two nights every trip to Berlin, because there are never any bad surprises. With only one exception ever (the man working the front desk overnight during my April stay), ALL the staff have always been friendly and helpful in every way. The room is comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast buffet (10 Euros) the best in the neighborhood. The location is a short walk to KaDeWa, the U-Bahn, the Zoogarten S-Bahn lines, the airport express bus, the zoo and aquarium, and plenty of food and retail choices. Since the other nearby hotels are also good, I would not pay more to stay here, but for even money or less, it is a dependable choice. Note: I do not believe the rooms have A/C, so I might be reluctant to stay here during the very hot summer months.

The Ambassador Hotel is not beautiful--in fact, it has probably seen better days. But it is extremely easy to get to and from, and is located in a lovely neighborhood not far from the Tiergarten and Brandenburg Gate. More importantly, their staff could not have been more helpful during our stay. Everyone we spoke to treated us well and spoke English (one staffer was from El Paso Texas). She went out of her way to help us understand that bus service to Dresden was much cheaper than taking the train, but got there just as fast. She saved us quite a bit of money. Last and by no means least, our room was quiet; we literally did not hear any street noise or even a peep from other guests. The beds were firm and comfortable. The Ambassador was about a 15 Euro cabride from Tegel Airport, which was itself extremely efficient and easy to navigate. And Berlin is WELL worth a visit.

Steps away from the Ubahn and Bus stops, simply perfect location, even very close to KaDeWe. Fantastic breakfast buffet. The room was good size. Evidently we were next to smoker rooms, and we could feel some of the smell, but it was nothing extreme. Just be careful to ask about that if smoking is a concern, as it us for us. Tiny small TV... but you don't go to Berlin to watch TV! Comfortable bed. Many places to eat around, even late. Stop by the "fast food" place right across the street: The best Doner Kebab ever!

Walking distance from the Zoo which is a central part of the old West Berlin the closest U bahn station is Wittenberg Platz. The hotel was clean the beds comfortable and the staff helpful. We found a number of reasonably priced eating places nearby. There is also a market in Wittenberg platz selling all sorts of foods.

We were very happy with our recent stay at the Sorat Hotel Ambassador. The location is just a five minute walk from the metro station. Staff was attentive and helpful, the room was nicely furnished, and well worth the reasonable price

We picked the hotel because of its location and couldn't have been happier. The hotel is located just a few blocks away from Berlin Zoo, there are plenty of restaurants (Hardrock Cafe) and shopping within minutes of the front door. We spent Saturday on foot touring the city and we found "all" the major city tourist attractions within walking distance. If you have a hard time getting around on foot, there our plenty of bicycle, Segway and scooter rentals near by as well as the U Bahn next door that will take you to the other side of the city in just minutes... As for the room, it was a bit small and and a little outdated but for the price and location, the SORAT Hotel Ambassador was well worth the money. The hotel offers free wireless internet for those that need to stay connected to the world while traveling or if you need to hunt for things to do while in Berlin. It had a breakfast bar for a small fee and parking was very reasonable. Again, for what we wanted, it was a great hotel and we would definately stay there again.

First visit to Berlin, hotel picked mainly for location and price, so I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived but was amazed by the comfort, style and ambience. Oly possible downside was the walls seemed a little thin. It was like the guy next door was in the room sometimes, but that aside, great hotel.

The Hotel was within 10 minutes walk of the local S-Bah, situated down a quite street.The rooms were typical double bedrooms with a small cupboards and limited clothes hanging space. The room did not have a bath, but the shower and toilet space were fine. We did not eat in hotel other than breafast, which was ample with plenty to chose from, cooked or continential. Ideal for exploring the City and within easy reach of the Tourist buses

My sister and I visited Berlin for a city sightseeing break. We were about 40mins on the train and a 10 min walk from the hotel. We were made very welcome at the hotel when we arrived in the evening. The hotel room was ideal, clean, modern and a lovely hot shower, perfect!! We spent that night in the hotel bar which is open 24hours. We had a lovely snack and a few glasses wine to plan our trip, staff were helpful and the food was lovely and the price was reasonable. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but looked fab. We were in a ideal position from a main shopping street, designer and high street, with the underground not even a minute away. We also had food in a lovely German restaurant nest to the hotel. Would definately reccommend this hotel.For short or long stay

I find this hotel is an excellent base for a Berlin Trip. Situated near Gedächtniskirche / Kurfürstendamm a lot of shopping possibilities nearby.

Would readily stay again: great location, excellant service, good rooms, impressive breakfast buffet and fascinating city!

Quiet room, needs updating, very clean. Friendly stuff.

the room was awlful, stunk of cigerettes, the bath room was old and needed a full refurb. the shower was powerful though. no bath tub. the wardrode doors wouldnt slide open. we should have asked to change rooms really, fortunately it was only for 2 nights. down in reception the photos on the computer showed different rooms im guessing some have been updated. very close to the tube station - for travelling around. big shopping complex and some resturants all within walking distance. we travelled to two other cities during our trip and this was the most expensive and worse room by far. receptionist was helpful.

Great place to stay location was everything was right beside a tube station which made everything easy. Rooms were fairly basic but still very warm and nice. found the workers extreamly friendly and helpful. there english was excellent also.

This is a conveniently located hotel just a few minutes walk from KaDeWe and Wittenberplatz U-Bahnhof. The walk from Bahnhof Zoo is only around 10 minutes. There is a bus stop for the 100 Bus at the end of the street. The hotel is located in a quiet street with a few average restaurants and a bakery. The food in the hotel itself was tasty and the service was good.

The hotel had a great location right next to shops, Berlin Zoo and a U-Bahn station. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. It was perfect for my stay.

My Stay was very comfortable, great location, rooms very small and no kettle, i booked a double bed room only to discover on arrival that they just pushed two single beds together which was a little uncomfortable, but i cant complain for the price, very reasonable. lovely staff, extremely helpful. Plus Happy hour in residents bar went down a treat, all cocktails €5

Berlin is very large city and no doubt that there are many hotels all around, none of which hotels is 'everywhere'. I enjoyed my choice of hotel Sorat for my weekend break there. It is directly at U line ( metro link), there are essential shops , cafes, restaurants, bakeries nearby. Nearby are also many night clubs, discos, bars, straight and gay. It is possible to walk very pleasantly from there to main areas of museums, though one can also conveniently go via metro. All the accommodation and services were good with no problem from the very beginning to the very end. The price deal with Hotel.com made this very good choice too as it was really cheap. I enjoyed my stay very very much there.

It was a good hotel and at a good location. Indeed rooms are a bit small and it had only a shower, but for a price it was a bargain. Depending on what part of the hotel you can get free wireless internet. I did not have a reception in my room. very close to U2 metro line and 15 minutes walk to Zoologischegarten train station. to go to Tegel Airport you have to hop on X9 from Zoologischegarten. For 10 Euros they offer very good breakfast. I advise you to have breakfast at the hotel. There is also good turkish fast food across the hotel. They serve great doners and kebabs. If you go right form hotel and go aroudn the corner toward Zoo, you will see Thai restaurant. Very nice atmosphere and food.

Very good hotel with an excellent location, easy access to other parts of the city, and friendly, English speaking staff. We received an upgrade and really appreciated the extras of the comfort room which was nice, clean, warm and comfortable. We had a great stay and would return to this hotel on another trip to Berlin.

We checked in @11am and the room was ready for us. Since it was snowing outside, the room was heated in advance. The location of this hotel is awesome – 300 meters from the underground that can take you anywhere in Berlin. 400 meters from the well-known KaDeWe and Europa Center . A very good local restaurant is right outside the hotel. The hotel has free wi-fi that can be very useful. Also, a Thai spa is nearby.

You can get to just about anywhere in Berlin from this hotel.

This hotel is perfectly located. It is one block north of the subway and within walking distance to shopping (Ku'daam) and nightlife in Schoenberg. The hotel was severly dated in terms of furnishings and appearance, but was clean and certainly sufficient if the rate is good. I did not try the breakfast, but there are a number of places within a short walk, inlcuding a bakery right across the street. I didn't have much contact with the staff. The young lady who checked me was friendly and spoke excellent English. At night, they lock the doors and you must ring to enter, so pretty good security. Housekeeping seemed to come late in the day. Make sure you bring your own toiletries as they is only generic bath/shampoo gel. There is no air conditioning, so be careful about booking in the summer.

Ideally situated, 1 block from Wittenbergplatz U-Bahnhof, 2 blocks from KaDeWe. Coffee shop across the street, grocery store around the corner. Indian, Chinese, Italian, and Doner Kebab restaurants within 1 block. Very convenient to Schoenenfeld Airport: 1 change on U-Bahn plus bus. 6th floor room facing street was clean, quiet, with very comfortable bed, fluffy down duvet and pillows. Staff were friendly and many fluent in English. The Sorat Ambassador is a real gem.

Built in the 1960s and still reflects that style. Rooms are spacious enough, staff helpful. Bathroom requires a bit of agility as exit from shower is too close to commode, and water pressure a bit erratic, temperature hot, hot or chilled. With practice, can be adjusted. Location is the deal: walk to KaDeWe, u-bahn, busses and all a traveler could want. Check around for deals, and can be a possibility.

My stay at SORAT Ambassador was a short one but the location has been the key advantage of the hotel. Located at Wittenburg Plz its right next to the famous Zoo and Aquarium - one of the famous tourist spots here. The surroundings have many good restaurants and so the evening walks around has been convienent.
