It was okay.

Service prompt & courteous, parking on site, comfortable and clean, close to NIH and Naval Hospital Bethesda , many places to eat, wide range of prices and type of food nearby, short drive to/from interstate. A week before we paid much more for less convenience in another state and the alarm clock didn't work, while the alarm and every other fixture/amenity at this hotel was operating. Not a luxury place, but a good one. Recommend it based on our experience here.

Rooms with on queen bed is very small as is the bathroom.

This hotel is least expensive in the area, and I can see why. Although the room was clean, the shower handle was broken and never fixed during our 6 night stay. The breakfast was good if you were there early enough to have a good selection...the good items were rarely replenished. Do your research as far as public transportation...the staff was not knowledgeable whatsoever. We were misdirected several times. One instance being transportation to the Dulles airport...we were told it was nonexistent and to rent a car or call a taxi. We discovered there are several buses that run from Metro stops for $6.

Nice people at the front desk. The hotel is fair but overpriced

For the money, considering the cost of hotels in the DC area, this is an excellent value. The room and elevator are small and the towels are skimpy, but you get what you pay for. The location and price is all.

Hotel room looked nothing like website pictures. Hotel staff was friendly, but that was the only redeeming quality of this place. Room was not even up to the quality of a motel. Room smelled of strong deodorizer, apparently trying to mask the smoke smell (didn't work). My advice, only stay here if there are no other options, otherwise I'd avoid at all costs.

This is an old hotel. The biggest problem was with sound from neighboring rooms. The walls are thin. The room is small but adequate. The plumbing in the bathtub didn't work exactly right But, it seemed clean, the people were nice, the fitness center had decent equipment, the breakfast was included, and best of all the price was reasonable.

Parking was a bit difficult at times, but since it's in a busy city, I felt that we did OK. Overflow parking was reimbursed by hotel when using a metered lot across the street. After pricing nearby hotels, this one came out to be the best value. I would definitely book them for an upcoming stay.

I stayed at this hotel on 3/9/13 and while in my room at night keep hearing noises in the ceiling and turned out to be rats running in the ceiling. I called the front desk and they said sorry and will have someone check it out. I checked out of the hotel and will never stay there again.

A good deal for the area. Good breakfast, good restaurant adjacent to the hotel.

Good if you are on a budget & traveling to the NIH. Walking distance, and not as pricey as the nearby Doubletree. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quality is like a good roadside motel. Rooms are small. Basic amenities include coffee & complementary water bottles. Safety deposit box in rooms. Some things looked a bit worse for wear and tear (chipped sink, worn-out showerhead), but everything was clean & functional. Lots of cheap good restaurants around that are open late for the late arriving traveler.

The rooms are small and the walls are thin, letting in a lot of noise from neighboring TVs. Still, the location is excellent and breakfast was exceptional: a waffle machine, hardboiled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc.

It was very pleasant. One thing that i did not like is that the comode in my room was not cleaned properly nor had a strip stating that it had been previously sanitized.

Stayed for two nights and overall enjoyed myself. I wouldn't rate this hotel a 2 star. Maybe 2 1/2 or even 3.

The hotel was no better than "fine." The room was clean enough, but very small. The walls were too thin -- in addition to hearing a neighbor in the next room (never pleasant in a hotel late at night), there was a lot of hallway noise, and someone's alarm clock went off at 5 a.m. and woke me at least 2 minutes before it was finally turned off. The front desk staff was nice, but when I checked in I thought she said breakfast went until 10:30 -- either I heard her wrong or she said it wrong, because breakfast was only until 9:30; if I had been given something in writing I would have caught my (or her) error and been downstairs in time. Overall, it was the least expensive option in the neighborhood but for was very overpriced.

Good but overpriced hotel, local was very conveinent for my stay at NIH. Considering the bad news I received. Drop the price, you might get more guests.

We are very satisfied with the hotel. The location was perfect, which has a lot of restaurants and bars. The staff was very kind, the parking was free, the breakfast was nice that I could use waffle machine. Our two bed room was wide enough as well. There was a more expensive hotel next this hotel, and compared to the hotel, this hotel did hard bargain. We will definitely come back to the hotel, if we visit the area!

First room they put us in was not cleaned from previous guest. Second room had no hot watter inthe shower and when notified all they said was sorry

The hotel suited our needs. We stayed 3 nights the end of December. The hotel and rooms were clean. The mattresses were comfortable and slept well. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, they helped find near-by restaurants, answered hotel questions, helped with transportation to metro subway. The rooms were not the most up to date but pleasant. Not real satisfied with the continental breakfast, we ended up eating somewhere else the last 2 mornings. The metro subway is farther than the hotel advertises. Just have to plan for other transportation after 3pm and plan for breakfast alternatives, and parking lot holds only about 10 cars maybe. But I would recommend this hotel to family & friends, price is good, service is friendly & helpful.

Clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff. Great location. Easy to take metro into DC. Also offers free parking and breakfast. The facility is in need of some updating but as mentioned is very clean as is.

The bed was comfortable, but the elevator did not work well, the buttons would not work half the time trying to get to the 5th floor. The room was nice for the price.

convenient location. One bed rooms are very small, but the two-beds are fine. Maintenance and cleanliness are not great. Parking is limited, but there is a parking lot nearby, and a nice courtesy of the hotel is that they put money in the meters at 7-10 AM.

I would come back when I am in the area .....

I was attending meetings at a nearby conference center. This hotel was very conveniently located, and provided a comfortable bed and clean room at a great price. The subway was a short to moderate walk away, and the neighborhood felt very safe. There were several good restaurant options nearby. The decor of the lobby and hallways of the hotel was quite dated, but the room seemed to have been updated more recently. The walls were not very soundproof. Noise from the adjacent room was intrusive on one of the nights of my stay.

We wanted to stay close to Walter Reed as well as to a Metro station. The American Inn is older but well maintained. The Metro is an easy walk. The Inn does have a shuttle that will go up to one mile away. The breakfast was adequate & contained pretty normal hot & cold choices. We'd stay there again.

Nice stay, reasonable breakfast, courteous staff. The only small issue is that it is a 10 minute walk to the metro, but after that it is gr8, just 20 minutes to union station.

I stayed here on a recent trip to DC and found it to be a good location and pretty good for the price, but not perfect. I was worried about the "limited parking" but it was not a problem. They have a small lot and garage onsite, but if those fill up they have you park in a public lot across the street which they pay for until 10am. I guess if you planned on leaving your car parked your whole stay, you would just have to move it over the next morning when the garage empties for the day. The room was small but clean and comfortable. However, the hot water took a little while to reach the room and never got real hot.

This hotel is nice, clean, remodeled. Some of the rooms are small so if there are two of you get a larger a room or you will not have any place for your suitcases. The parking sucks. There are only about 15 parking spaces at the hotel that are "free". If you dont get one of these spots you will have to park about a block away in a public lot. The lot is free on SAT and SUN but you have to pay via a meter on every other day. I would not stay here again simply because of the parking arrangements, otherwise it is a nice hotel with nice staff.

Service staff is very nice and helpful. Room are sufficient for a short stay. Local area is very friendly and good for places to eat and socialize. We would definitely stay here again.

A perfectly decent urban motel. Good value and location in Bethesda.

The rooms were a little small. But thinking that this is near D.C. and that is near a metro, the hotel has all the ammenities you can think of. The breakfast had small selections, but it was a nice to have. The rooms came with wireless internet and a very extensive lineup of TV channels. Albeit small, I do like that there is at least a few FREE parking spots. It's also nice that there's a county lot (free after 10pm and on Sundays).

I would stay there again

This was a great place to stay-- close to where I needed to be but not pricey.

This a very well updated place good location I was walking the street at 12 midnight to CVS no fear good location you will enjoy
