Franziskaner Hotel - زيورخ

1st off the hotel was in a great central location. Easy to get to from the tram which is minutes away from the train station. We came early (9:30AM) and the room was already ready! So we were able to unload, relax before our "adventure." It was easy to walk about from the hotel to/from all major sites. Breakfast in the mornings was better than expected as well! Fresh coffee/cappuccinos, fresh meats/cheeses, a variety of breads and juices as well! i thought we might be getting jipped since 2 other popular hotels (adler & wellington) were nearby and much more $$, but i'm glad we went with Franzkinser b/c it was well worth $$ and much less $$. Thanks!

Really good location. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Quite expensive - but I understand this is normal for Zurich and the bathroom was too small and quite dark. Breakfast a little bit basic!

Perfect location in old town Zurich, howtever you have to be ready for the all night noise coming from the touristes on the street. No parking facility (they provide slot at near by park house, but at least 10 min walk distance). Would be a perfect place for younger guests with no children and less luggage.

If the hotel room had AC, it would be perfect, but if the heat is not your thing, the little fan they provide to cool you down on a hot summer night is not going to cut it. However, it is only 15 min walk from the main train station, a few blocks away from the main shopping district, and at the center of night life. They do provide free Internet access, but only via ethernet. If you depend on wi-fi, you will be out of luck or you will have to use the laptop next to the reception. Very helpful staff.

We stayed 4 nights in June 2011 and have no real complaints. The weather was cool so we left the windows open at night. We did hear some street noise, especially on Saturday night, but nothing that prevented us from sleeping. The breakfast was good; you would pay at least 20 swiss francs per person for the same breakfast at a restaurant.

This is a well located, comfortable hotel. It's not plush but is nice.

This hotel is located in the heart of old town, half a block from the river and three tram stops from HauptBahnHof - very convenient! Reasonably priced for Zurich. Recently modernized room, and friendly, helpful staff. Great breakfast. A word of caution - there is no air conditioning. It was very hot when we stayed, so we had to leave the windows open (no shutters) and the portable fan running. With the open windows, and the lively neighborhood nightlife, we sure needed our ear plugs! We would highly recommend the Franziskaner to anyone who wants to stay in Old Town.

In considering my ratings, it is important to know that we have traveled extensively in Switzerland and have found even budget hotels to be quite clean and satisfactory. That said, the pluses of the Franziskaner are its location (right in the middle of the pedestrian district of the old town, and an easy walk to the lakefront and business district), the friendly and helpful staff, and the low price relative to others in the same area. Drawbacks were that the rooms are small (to be expected, though, in the old town); there is considerable street noise (also to be expected given the location); and there is no air conditioning (likely only a problem for a small portion of the year, but we were there in August...each room had a fan, but this was ineffective...and too much street noise to leave the windows open...I recommend picking up a travel white noise machine, as this can come in handy almost anywhere you stay).

Très joli et bien situé, propre et bien aménagé. Le prix est peut-être un peu trop élevé par rapport aux commodités. Dommage que le parking soit si éloigné (Hoch Promenade) et qu'il n'y ait pas eu d'eau chaude le matin...

The hotel is nice, rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Great with free internet in the room. Adaptor for the plug can be borrowed in the hotel. FANTASTIC location i the heart of the old town. 5-10 minutes walk to the main station and everything close by. A bit noisy in the evening because of a restaurant at the ground floor, but it did not bother me (I liked the atmosphere). Breakfast ok - nothing special, but fine. Taxis can not go directly to the hotel late at night, since the old town is closed for trafic after a certain hour (but quite close). I would definitely go there again!

Nice location, but not that much value for the money. No big issues and ok for a couple of nights - lot of bars nearby.

Super Hotel für Sightseeing und Shopping in Zürich. Sehr gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis. Leider aber mit sehr wenig Nachtruhe. Man kann nur bei offenem Fenster schlafen, da es ansonsten auch im Winter zu heiss wird. Sobald man aber das Fenster öffnet, kann man nicht mehr in Ruhe schlafen, da das Ausgangsviertel direkt vor der Türe liegt. Erst um 06.30 Uhr morgens war es für ca. zwei Stunden am Sonntagmorgen wirklich ruhig.

Hotel correct, tres bien placé, chambres convenables. Attention l'hotel est situé juste au dessus d'un bar, les chambres sont mal insonnorisées, on entend dans la chambre la musique et le bruit dehors jusqu'a 2h du matin...c'est bien dommage car pour le reste l'hotel est correct.

Hotel muy bien ubicado, en el barrio histórico de esta ciudad. El precio está acorde con los valores que se manejan en Zurich. El hotel está reciclado, la habitación es nueva lo mismo que todos sus muebles. El personal es super amable. El único comentario negativo es que está ubicado en una zona con mucha vida nocturna y supongo que con la ventana abierta se escucha el murmullo de la calle. En mi caso, con la ventana cerrada casi no escuchaba nada y no fue un impedimento para dormir. Volvería a este hotel!!

Modern hotel with small rooms. Located in a district with busy night-life. Noise from restaurants and night-clubs in the surrounding. Lively night-life. The hotel has no air comdition. Warm and humid room! Impossible to sleep with open window due to terrible noise from the streets until 03 am. Noisy cleaning of the streets starts at 06 in the morning. This hotel does not suit people liking a quit place!

sehr schönes, zentral in der Altstadt gelegenes Hotel! Nachts bei offenem Fenster ziemlich laut. Wenn man das Fenster schließt ist von dem Lärm nichts mehr zu hören! Sehr nettes Personal. Gutes Frühstücksbuffet!
