Hotel Machiavelli Palace - فلورنس

The staff weren't very friendly or helpful. There was an awful smell coming up through the pipes into the bathroom. The room was quite clean but very small.

We stayed 3 nights here in this hotel in February 2012. The Hotels is right around the corner from the Central Station and minutes away from the must see sights.Very easy to get around with little streets and sights to see. Lovely staff and very polite...we were not happy with 2 of the rooms when we arrived and the staff changed us straight away. All the staff were very helpful with directions and information on tours and they could book anything we wanted to see or do. The windows in the rooms open and it was lovely to have fresh air in the rooms. The breakfast room was quite big and the food was lovely and plenty of it, including cerals, fruit, breads, cheeses, hams, coffee, teas and hot chocolate etc.... Plenty of restarants on the same street with lovely food and lovely prices too... I would recommend the restaurant on the same street as Hotel Machiavelli on the way back up to the train station. Little coffee house accross the street from Hotel for a coffee and pastry or sambo. We had a lovely stay in Florence and would recomment this hotel. Florence is a beautiful city and it was so good to have a nice hotel with no complaints to report. Enjoy...

hotel rooms and service are very good but there are a couple of issues that should be taken into cosideration. 1) the walls are very poorly acoustically isolated and you can essentially hear everything the other people are saying (we had a crazy asian lady nex to us that kept screaming till 4am and didn't let us sleep for almost the entire night). 2) all around the hotel rooms there is a very bad smell of smoke!

Great Hotel. Close and right in the CITY.

Close to railway and an easy 10 to 15 minute stroll to all the must-see sights in Firenze (aka Florence). The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and polite. We had booked this Hotel as we specifically requested a twin room. We arrived and the room granted was a double (king-size bed)! However, we were able to transfer to another, twin, room the next day. Unfortunately, the bathrooms had the poor plumbing smells mentioned in other reports which was strange as they have been modernised and were clean. The first bathroom had no window but the second had a very large window which was terrific - we were able to open it up and air the room. On the second last morning I attempted to pour water down the floor drain and that seemed to fix the problem. Then again the Hotel may have done something different??? Breakfast at the Hotel was adequate - cereals, fruit, cheese, juice, tea, coffee and pre-packaged toast seen elsewhere. Oh yes, and yoghurt and hot chocolate: the hot drinks are from a machine, but pleasant enough There is a small lift, although we often found it was quicker to walk the 3 or 4 flights of stairs. There are a number of restaurants nearby where we enjoyed some tasty meals in a pleasant atmosphere with quirky decor. The water in Italy is potable, as in you can drink it, and there are public 'fountains' where it is possible to top up your water bottles. In Firenze, in the Piazza Della Signoria, behind Neptune's Fountain, there is a 'kiosk' which supplies the water chilled, with a choice of gas or not, free.

Great daily free breakfast buffet and hospitable staff.

No complaints about the location; very convenient from the train station as well as all the major attractions. The room are another story. They had initially given us this hole-in-the-corner type room but upon requesting we were given a slightly better room. The hotel is in dire need of renovation; especially the rooms. The elevator can accommodate no more than 2people. However, their breakfast is good & the staff is helpful+ friendly. So, if it really doesn't matter how the room looks like then the recommendation would be to book this hotel.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station and listed amenities. Generally, the staff was helpful, although they inexplicably hired two (2) grouches to fill in at the front desk periodically. The most lovely breakfast room we found on our trip and -- this is important in Firenze -- excellent air conditioning. Negative? Bath was a bit beat-up and only a contortionist should try to use a toilet where your legs must fit underneath the sink.

From the minute we stepped into the foyer, we were greeted warmly by the front desk. All through our stay, we were attended to graciously. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Florence. Small comfortable, clean room, large bathroom, which is a luxury.

While conveniently located, the hotel is in a dirty (and smelly) part of the city. When we asked for parking, we were instructed to drive to a parking garage that was outrageously over-priced to only later find out that there was free parking on the streets. Once in the room, we found trash, bugs, and a rock-hard bed. The bathroom smelled of mold and looked as though it had not been cleaned in quite some time. It was relatively cheap but still over-priced for the quality.

Very convenient location just 10 minute walk from train station. Gelato, great restaurants, museums, Duomo and markets near by!! Good breakfast included w/ room. Appreciated the AC in the heat of Italian summer! So much to see!!

A couple of things I would consider before staying here. The bed was so hard I couldn't sleep, I had to put the comforter down under the sheet so I could sleep. The breakfast was below average, not many choices. The lady at the front desk seemed annoyed when we would ask her questions and although its not their fault, the electricity went out while we were there and some poor lady got stuck in the elevator, the bell boy got her out as quickly as possible. This was our least favorite hotel that we stayed at on our trip (out of 5) . I would not stay here again.

Great location but bathroom was very small, fridge and powerpoint not working, and service varied dependent on who was working at the time.

The hotel is located very close to the railway station, to a big supermarket and to the Duomo. Breakfast was very simple and the rooms were just comfortable, just right for the price.

The room was a little smaller than most european rooms but we had a belcony overlooking the road. The shower was overly small for a normal sized person but you can squeze in there. Its a great hotel for a few days and a great vacation. I reccomend it to anyone one wanting to save some money on a good hotel right in the city. Great for the price and location.

The hotel was by no means a Palace. The rooms were very clean but dreary and the bathroom was very small even for European standards. The location was very convenient as it was close to train station, some of the sites and very close to all the good shopping.

We arrived at 6:30 a.m. after a horrible overnight train ride. We hoped they would at least hold our bags until check-in, which isn't until the afternoon, but they went ahead and gave us our room! That was the first plus of the hotel. The room itself was very pretty, and the bathroom was extremely clean. Some reviewers comment about the smell, and yes the building smells old, but guess what? It is old. I was not bothered by it, but if you are then just take a candle or something because the location, friendly staff, and breakfast buffet make it more than worth it. (Note: there isn't a lot of storage space, but I only stayed a night, so I wasn't going to take my clothes out of my suitcase anyway.) I highly recommend this hotel.

Very good hotel for 3 stars! Just in Florence center!

This hotel was perfect for our needs. The room was charming, and we enjoyed the ambiance of the area. Walking distance to about everything we wanted to do and see.

In reality the hotel does not meet the expectations set by the website. Specifically the room was small unlike those depicted, with a single wardrobe and no drawers for clothes, totally unacceptable for a 6 night stay. The bed was extremely hard. We raised this with the receptionist who really didn't care, but all credit to the porter who did manage to change the mattresses to something better. The bathroom wasn't big enough to get a cat in, let alone swing it. Furthermore, it stank of drains which we complained about, but nothing appeared to done. The shower was small with a pull around curtain making it difficult to use. Breakfast was included but again standard was poor. Fruit juice tasted as if it came from a powder base with plastic cups not glasses. Meats were low quality, surprisingly for Italy. The only enjoyable thing about this hotel was checking out, which we would have done sooner if we had not prepaid.

While the location was excellent and the staff were very friendly and anxious to please, there was a deeply unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom that made it almost impossible to sleep. The bathroom was very clean and we could find no source for the smell so we just had to close the door and try to ignore it. The missing ceiling was also disconcerting. The metal strips intended to anchor the ceiling were there, but not the actual ceiling. It was very odd.

First, let me say the word PALACE is quite a stretch, so don't base your wanting to stay here on that. The room and the breakfast was whatever, but the staff was very friendly and the location was GREAT- both for the train station and walking around town. I would probably try to stay at another hotel if I ever return, but I wouldn't mind recommending this hotel for its location.

If you like small hotels, choose this one. As for breakfast in an modestly priced Italian hotel, this one exceeded my expectation. Steps away from the hotel are flea markets, a train station and cafes. Major tourist attractions and shopping are within easy walking distance. If use plan to use the ATM for cash withdrawals, make sure that you use an international bank ATM. Otherwise you may find that after a couple of failed attempts using the Italian banks' atms, your bank will shut down your account. That is even if you notify your bank that you plan to travel outside of the country.

The location was great, very close to the train station which was great for us b/c we were traveling in & out through the train station, however, the room smelled very bad. We were only in the room to drop off luggage & sleep so it wasn't that bad, but would not stay there again.

One of the reasons we booked this hotel was that it had parking. It did not have parking and cost us about $50 aday to park even though we were suppose to have a special rate.

Quiet, convenient to museums, other tourist locations and restaurants. Front desk helpful.

Exel. location.V.clean.Full of character. Breakfest quite reasonable but as in most hotels you have to ask staff for espresso cafe.Room was resn.size but shower cabin terrible,sooo tiny.Staff very profesinal and helpfull.

The hotel is just around the corner from the train station, which worked out great for me. It is also within walking distance of most of the major sites in Florence. Very nice place!

Great location (easy walk from Firenze S.M.N. & 1/4 mi to Duomo). Good restaurants near by and market set up near by for shoppers during certain days (i.e., weekend). Nice breakfast included. Hotel is what I expected for a 3-star facility.

The rate was good, very close to the train station but very hard to find. I did not feel comfortable walking alone at night in the hotels area. It had the smallest bathroom in the world and it was a west facing room which meant I had the afternoon sun and the heat was beyond belief and no working air. The staff was helpful and wanted to switch my room however it was just as hot. On the other hand the staff were nice and friendly, and went out of their way to try to see to my comfort. If you will be traveling alone I would not recommend because of the area.

As another individual mentioned in a review we read- the place tends to have some plumbing issues. We were not let down. Upon first walking into the lobby the smell just about knocked you down. Our room however was just fine- and quite cozy. The bed was a bit to hard, but the hotel's location in the city was great for walking. We inquired about parking and were originally led to believe it was included- wrong. 60+ Euros for 2 days in the garage next to the hotel was a bit disheartening. Had we known differently we may have chose another location.

Leider waren wir nur 1 Nacht im Hotel, deshalb kann die Bewertung nur ein kurzer Eindruck sein. Hotelpersonal war sehr freundlcih und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer war grossteils in Ordnung, mühsam ist es mit den Steckdosen und die Badewanne (=Dusche) gehört erneuert oder überholt.

hotel centrale per la visita al centro storico. Colazione a buffet abbondante. Personale accogliente. Mi ci sono trovato bene e, se del caso, ci ritornerò.

Bra läge, fina omgivningar, hyfsad standard som dock inte når till de svenska hotellens nivå i samma prisklass. Stressad personal i receptionen och väldigt lite varmvatten i duschen sänker betyget. Frukostbuffén var riklig och bra, en ylletröja är bra att ta med för vid fuktig väderlek blir det kallt i rummen.

Helt ok hotell, centralt läge. Vi lyckades se det mesta utan att behöva åka buss eller annan lokaltrafik.

We stayed two nights here and the location was fantastic for tourists. All tourist spots can be reached on foot with nice walking distance. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Buffet breakfast was with limited choice but was good enough compare to a 1.5 euros croissant in a random shop. One downside though is that the lift doesn't work properly. We had to not only press the button but to keep holding onto it until it reached to our floor and make sure it is opened before I let my finger go.

Jättebra läge men varierande kvalitet på rummen (vi hade 3 stycken dubbelrum). Ett av rummen hade skön dubbelsäng och helt nyrenoverat badrum, de andra två hade sängar typ resesängar. Hotellet förfogade över ett par platser i ett närliggande parkeringsgarage men trots det hade de inget att göra med priset på parkering som låg på 50 Euro för ett dygn!

Godt hotel der ligger i gå afstand til alle seværdighederne. Masser af gode restauranter og små spisesteder lige uden for døren. Hotellets personale er meget venlige og hjælpsomme. Rengøring i orden, hyggeligt hotel.

L'Hotel Machiavelli Palace è situato a 5 minuti dalla Stazione dei treni di Santa Maria Novella e a due passi dal mercato di San Lorenzo. La posizione è eccellente e nei dintorni ci sono molte trattorie. L'albergo purtroppo è vecchio, come struttura e come manutenzione; la mia stanza era rumorosissima, sia perché all'esterno dava su una strada molto trafficata, sia perché, grazie a muri evidentemente di cartapesta, potevo sentire distintamente parole e suoni prodotti in tutte le stanze adiacenti e soprastanti! Nella camera, l'illuminazione del bagno è mal concepita, per cui è difficile truccarsi in maniera "simmetrica". I cuscini sono troppo sottili e inconsistenti, quindi scomodi. Scarseggiano le prese della corrente. Va però sottolineato che il personale è molto disponibile e gentile.
