Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino - سان خوان

The hotel was located in a great spot. Easy access to shopping and eating. However, the price was not appropriate for the condition of the hotel. Beds were comfortable but there was mold in the bathroom and the room had an odor that was not pleasant.

I went ahead and booked this hotel for a one night stay, since I wanted to be centrally located in old San Juan. I arrived late at night, and was given a room on the 7th floor. The smell and humditiy in this room was horrible. Keep in mind I had traveled all day, and didn't arrive till past midnight despite this I couldn't sleep in this room due the smell and humidity. I called about switching rooms, and was told there were no other rooms meanwhile while check in i was giving keys to one room, then swtiched to another right there. My husband and I decided to head out since we weren't sleeping anyway and couldn't stand to be in the room at 6 am to walk around. After we checked out at 11am, we left our luggage on hold. When we came to pick it up around 2, the bellman who we had given our suitcase was no where to be found Keep in mind that no other person can give you back your suitcase except for him. It took 30 minutes to find him. Luckily, we had plenty of time before our next flight, but please keep this in mind when leaving your suitcase on hold. On our trip back we stay two additional nights at the Doubletree Hilton, and this was a wonderful experience.

I just stayed here until two nights ago after not having used this hotel for a long time and I had a great experience. My room was big, lots of space, bed very comfortable and we slept very good. My view was towards the back multi level parking lot, but who cares about it when all we wanted was comfort and cleanliness? Room internet is wired, so bring your laptop or an Apple Airport. Hotel is very well taken care of and the location rocks, of course! Great restaurants in the area, all of Old San Juan is within walking distance. I have stayed here many times and have never found any bugs like someone mentioned on a post. Plus, I found a VERY good fare this last time we stayed here!

Hotel was very convenient (at the piers in Old San Juan). Comfortable beds, but My room was very noisy--close to the elevator and ice machine, fire alarm at midnight the first night, and drunk girls fighting in the hallway at 3 a.m. on the second night. Daily valet parking and internet charges apply. The lobby was extremely congested on Sunday morning with people lining up to check luggage with bellman and very long waits for the elevator. If you want or need to be in Old San Juan, I would stay here again. If I just need to be San Juan on business, I might choose somewhere else.

I live in Puerto Rico with my husband and my 5 month old son. My husband and I decided to get away for a day and spend some time in our favorite place: Old San Juan. First of all, the hotel employees were very friendly and professional. The facility was clean, and the lobby area was very welcoming. Once we got to the room, we noticed it was clean and smelled fresh. Our room phone was not in service and the bed mattress was very hard and uncomfortable. The only thing soft were the pillows. The TV didn't have many channels available so we tried to order a movie and the system said it was unavailable for purchase. We tried to order a second.movie buy weren't able to either. The only GREAT thing about this hotel is the location and surroundings.

The hotel is pretty and convienient to everything Old Sany Juan....perfect for the cruise terminals, food and a CVS....pool is very small and limited chairs and the elevators seemed to get overwhelmed during busy times....

Clean but the restaurants around that area are $$$$ and not that good. Not a good place for business travelers.

The hotel couldn't find our reservation at first, so we had to wait awhile before we were all checked in. But there weren't any lines, and once our reservation was found, we were upgraded to a large room with a view of the harbor. I'm not sure if this was because I'm an SPG member or because the lady felt guilty for taking so long to find our reservation. Nonetheless, it was a great room with lots of space. Super comfortable beds. Also got two happy hour drink tickets which were nice. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good time with some familiar comfort in Old San Juan.

LOVED IT !

Although the view of the water was nice, my "deluxe" room had no place to sit except the bed or the desk from which you could not see the TV because of poor furniture placement. No fridge, no microwave---you can get these in a cheap motel. For an expensive room I expect a lot more. Also, because I booked through Hotels.com I was not given the daily voucher for free drink and appetizer that other gjuests received. Next time I'll stay at one of the historic hotels and get ambiance rather than the noise of slot machines.

I paid a bit more money to stay here, the day after we got off the cruise ship.. Walking distance, so saved Taxi fee. Great location, will use again! People were very helpfull and friendly! Right across the street from Carnival Victory's the cruise port!

Right across from the day cruise dock, 3 blocks (mild incline) to the plaza Colon and access to a lot of great eating. Lot of uphill to the forts, but the tourist trolley provides some free access up there. Other than the location, no reason to stay here. Restaurant in hotel is mediocre and overpriced.

Close to the pier and a very nice location. Very relaxing and would come here again!!

There is a problem when you can clearly hear every word being spoken in a neighboring room. Great location to leave your bags- difficult to sleep bring ear plugs

very nice hotel - great location in Old San Juan. The only "bad" thing is that the high-speed internet access is not at all high-speed. Otherwise, this hotel is very recommendable

Great hotel for proximity to sites in Old San Juan; we walked everywhere. Pool on rooftop is small but refreshing. Recommend good walking shoes due to cobblestone streets and changing altitude. Hotel on water allows for great evening strolls. Local vendors populate the streets when the cruise ships arrive in town.

The Sheraton is in a good location short walking distance to all the tourist destinations. I was on the eight floor and had a small balcony only large enough to lean out for picture taking. The view was wonderful if you like to see cruise ships which I do. On the ninth floor is a gym and a small swimming pool. I spent some time by the pool getting rays and the pool was inviting. The pool area was not overcrowded when I was there in February 2012. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel. Call the Hotel directly to negotiate your price, might be better than booking on-line. I thoroughly loved Old San Juan and the country. You can walk to the Bacardi Rum factory and I recommend that you do. The street level sights are fantastic.

Hotel is in a great location. You can walk to everything in old San Juan. Hotel employees were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and in good condition. The problem was that we had room 937. It's right next to what must have been the laundry where loud machines were banging all night. Also the pool is on this level and we were awakened every ten minutes by people talking loudly and slamming the door going in and out of the pool. By far the noisiest hotel room we've ever been in. Do not accept room 937 unless you don't care about sleep.

Wonderful hotel in Old Town. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and El Morro. Staff was kind and courteous (had a bit of trouble with a language barrier, but no worries there), hotel and room were clean and price was right. Be sure to check out their patio lounge overlooking the harbor. We'll go again.

Stayed one night post cruise. Got the room for a very reasonable rate compared to some of the old flea bags in the area. Cab fare was around $12 plus $1/bag from Pan American cruise port. Lobby was a mad house when we arrived around 10AM. Check in wasn't until 3PM so they held our bags for us until 3pm. Toured OSJ until then. 5 minute walk to fort. Room was very clean and comfortable. Free internet was available in the lobby-we were able to print our boarding passes for the next day flights. Very good location- if you are reasonably fit, you can walk and see all of old san juan. There is a free trolley service that stops about a block from the hotel, if you don't mind waiting around. Checked on the restaurant on the second floor but it was a little too pricey for us$18-$30 for an entree. Breakfast buffet was $14 for cold stuff and more for hot breakfast. There was a Senor Frogs real close but it was extremely noisy. Across the street was a cute little mexican place with a mariachi band playing. It was fun and reasonably priced. There is a CVS real close, also. Of course there are numerous restaurants elsewhere in OSJ but we were with my elderly parents and they couldn't walk that far. OSJ is very hilly in case you've never been there. Stopped at the casino on Sunday night and it was packed. Slots seemed extremely tight. Overall, a very nice hotel. Hope this info helps someone contemplating staying pre/post cruise.

We stayed here for the first two nights of our trip to Puerto Rico and were very pleased. We had a third person in our room and had to call to get a rollaway bed and then again to get more towels - response was very quick and courteous. The hotel is located a block from a stop for the free trolley services that circulate around Old San Juan, which made our stay much more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed in the Sheraton Old San Juan for one night after our cruise and the location was awesome. We were able to get to everything in Old San Juan very easily. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. We would definately stay there again.

The room was OK, but I expected a reasonable view. The small window opened out onto what I imagine a prison yard looks like. Just grey walls, pocked with other small windows. However, if I tried hard, and looked up, above the walls, I could see a little sky. That said, I must note that the location is EXCELLENT, as it is right by the waterfront in Old San Juan. I would PROBABLY stay there again....Just for the location.

Love the convenience to the hotel... was very disappointed that we had checked in our luggage prior to getting the room because of the 3pm check in time... we ended up having to go get our luggage ourselves at 5:30 .... The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms nicely arranged "lots of room". Check in process was very slow to accomodate the rush of persons from the cruise lines that show up early to check in or drop luggage.

Even though we had reservations, we arrived after our cruise to having to wait for 4 and half hours to get in a room. We were told we had a bayview room and ended up with a parking garage view! No explanations, just "not yet!" and "that's all we have!" A said way to end our trip as we were there for 2 extra days before going home.

Great location for pre and post cruise overnight stays. Stayed for two night pre cruise only downside was we were really tired after our flight and other guest were very roudy going back to their rooms in the early hours of the morning- not the hotels fault but the bedroom doors could do with being sound proofed! The guys in the lobby were fantastic, they really took care of us - looking after our baggage, calling taxi's etc.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days, it is located in the heart of old san juan and only a short 5 minute ride to the cruise port. Only drawback was the thin walls and our very loud neighbors. Great pool and hot tub on the roof. Great staff and a clean and comfortable room. I would definity stay here again.

Everything was excellent except for the amount of time that we had to wait for the room to be ready. We arrived before noon, but did not get our room until about 5 hours later. To us, this was a ploy to get us into the casino.

Stayed here one night on an overnight layer, it's very convenient to all locations in Old San Juan. The service was great and it's avery nice hotel. My girlfriend and I will definately be staying here again.

This hotel is in the heart of everything you want to see in Old San Juan. The staff there was very helpful. A very nice walk to most everything you may want to see. Absolutely wonderful location. I would highly recommend this hotel! We were there 2 nights before taking a cruise. Perfect!

I'm not going to totally bash the hotel but I would not stay there again or recommend it to others. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the hotel so I can't comment on that. However, the hotel smelled musty as did the rooms. Everytime we would walk into our room, we would get hit in the face by a musty odor. My other complaint was how thin the walls seemed to be. We stayed there 2 nights and had to call the front desk both nights between 11:30 and midnight to ask them to tell the people in the room next to us to lower their TV set.

This hotel is conveniently located just outside of the cruise ship port (within walking distance). We arrived early and the bellhop was kind to keep the luggage and they delivered the room to us as soon as it was cleaned (early check-in). IT was nice to see excellent service even though they were very busy! Love the attention provided by the front desk staff!

GREAT LOCATION FOR OLD TOWN, VERY GOOD RESTAURANTS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE, CASINO IN HOTEL, BUT POOR SERVICE FOR GUESTS COMING IN FROM CRUISE SHIPS AT 8 AM. FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN RESTING ON THE FLOOR , PEOPLE ASLEEP ON THE COUCH, AWAITING THE STRICT 3 PM CHECK IN TIME. UNENTHUSIASTIC GUEST SERVICES WITH POOR LIST OF REASONABLE THINGS TO DO WHILE YOU WAIT. RESTAURANT IN HOTEL NICE AMBIANCE.

We stayed in the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel for a couple of days before our cruise. The hotel is in an excellent location right across the road from the Cruise Terminal. No need for a txi in the morning just cross the road and into the Cruise Terminal! The hotel was clean and air conditioned as you would expect. The food in the restaurant was OK. We found the service was a little slow but hey we were on holiday ! The rooms are big and the beds comfortable. The taxi cost $22 from the airport. We would highly recommend this hotel. Oh the 1 down side is check out! Its a night mare. You are supposed to check out by 11am but of course everyone leaves it late and we waited for a bout 30 minutes for the lift as it was so busy. We ended up going in the lift on our own when there was a gap big enough. That's the only down side.

Fantastic location in the town center (i.e. no beach), very nice hotel. Breakfast is not inclusive and is expensive. Parking is valet at $22/night, or 2 streets away at $3/night. Overall, if you want to stay in the city center rather than a resort, this is the hotel to choose.

This is a very nice hotel in a great neighborhood for the money that you pay. Free WIFI was great. You are in walking distance from all attractions of San Juan, close to airport and many restaurants. We loved it. We will definitely go to this hotel next time.

Great location for walking to the sights and resturants of Old San Juan. Large, clean rooms with good beds. The air conditionig worked fine but the air was slightly musty. There are only two elevators but never much of a wait. The roof top pool is fine and the view is excellent. It's a 30 minute walk along the ocean or $15 cab ride to the beach at Condado, at very nice government run public beach. Would definitely return. Christmas 2011.

Great location in a safe neighborhood of Old San Juan. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great restaurants nearby and lots to see. I would stay here again in a minute. We stayed 3 nights prior to cruise and hotel is across from one port and close to others.

I have to admit, I was not overly impressed with the hotel... Let's start off with the positives: Location was excellent, walking distance to touristy sites in Old San Juan and across the street from ferry to Catano (Bacardi Distillery Tour). Now for the negatives: Room smelled musty and didn't seem clean. Maid didn't come to clean our room and did not replace bath amenities until we called front desk. Concierge told us the wrong time to meet for our excursion and we almost missed our zipline tour. A postive to the negative was that they called the zipline company and they we able to turn around and pick us up. Otherwise, we would not have experienced since it was our last day.
