Excellent hotel!

Great location, great staff, great rooms, great spa. Everything with this hotel was at the top. I will be coming back

The room was large and the beds were very comfortable. However, I expected a king size bed but was given a room with two double-beds pushed together, which surprised me a bit. There was fruit and bottled water in the room for free, which was a nice surprise. The bathroom in particular was large, and the shower was nice, except that it was the silly European design which allowed water to spill out on the floor if you shower like an American. I was impressed by the service: the front desk staff were very friendly, and helped take and pass on messages to me, make a dinner reservation, and order a car. The bar and restaurant staff were also friendly. The hotel is in a good location. It's a five minute walk to the nearest train station, which conveniently has a lot of cafes and restaurants, and a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to the downtown shopping area. There are a few small things which are missing: e.g., a lamp in the room which could only be turned on or off by being unplugged, the fact that there was no coffee or tea in the room (I have never seen this before!), and the fact that the staff do not address you by name. To be clear, this is not a five star hotel, it's a nice four star hotel. Overall, however, the hotel is a good deal and I would recommend it.

The Hotel is nicely located. Big hotel from mid 1980s, not much charm or atmosphere. Friendly staff, but in Hamburg they are all friendly.

The hotel is in a great location a short walk to the subway station. The staff was nice and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and would gladly stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Elysee. It is a big hotel with a personal touch located in an elegant section of the city close to Lake Alster. The service is friendly and very helpful. Though the housekeepers need more training. The art collection of the owners is on display throughout the hotel, which adds a special touch. Four restaurant satisfy any palate. I only sampled the food in two and liked it. I especially enjoyed the indoor pool and the white terry robes to get there, though the belts of the robes are a bit frayed.

This is a real five star hotel, that provided 5 stars in every area that we expected. An excellent hotel that we would recommend to those who want the best. The buffet breakfast was also excellent, though a bit noisy when there were young children about., other wise a great place to stay.

I was very pleased indeed with the hotel. Facilities and service were excellent.

Where to Start with this hotel, The location is good, its close to a small train station that is one stop (5 mins) from the main station. The walk to town is equally pleasant and perhaps from 15mins. Walk to the harbour maybe 45 minutes. This was my first 5 star hotel experience in Europe since leaving the Far East, where I used to work for a short while as an Expat. Upon arriving did not quite get that sense, that I had arrived though the layout was quite impressive. I waited at the reception desk (I am on hols BTW), the reception was peppered by gents who just seemed to approach from all angles and get served pretty quick - note to self approach desk like you mean it or own it.. So I check in, I go to my car, I park car, I take my case to the room. Parking is 18Eur per Day. Did I miss the Porter offer! or the Sir's, felt like they had served 10,000 people that day and I was just another. from Carpark to room its all lift and quiet. Hotel Concierge, perhaps I caught this guy on a bad day or I was wearing a T shirt instead of tweed, in answer to hotel literally ask your concierge....... (fill in blanks) and they will guide you. Let me save some time here, Advice from Concierge - Kindergarten, this is for Hotel Staff but you may be able to put your child there. However you can go next door and ask them, (ok, not quite the way I understood it, maybe if I had a spare hour i might just venture on down the road looking for a Kindergarten, but then again I think not). Later in our stay at the end, we bumped into a member of staff dropping her child of at that Kindergarten who literally corrected everything we were told by Concierge guy. Follow on from that the reception then kicked into life and said we can find out for you... So not sure what the disconnect with the one guy who should have been connected was. Anyway I actually sensed when something was a burden so always asked a question at concierge when that character was not there, but often there was allot off k

The hotel is very clean and classy. Bathrooms are huge and very nice. Everything is clean and the service is very good. The prices are a bit high and the gym has almost no equipment - a few (very light) weights and two running machines. Parking is pretty expensive. I picked this hotel due to it's proximity to Radisson Blue, where my conference was held - a 5 minute walk.

Hotel had a very conveeninent location very close to Dammtor rail station, and one stop away from Hamburg HBF making connections to regional and longer distance rail options easy. Room was in good condtion and comfortable, free internet service was a nice touch. Breakfast was very good and reasonable, service was great. I ate dinner one evening at the Italian resturant, service was quite good and very reaosnable for this level hotel and food quality.

The internet connection (both wired and WiFi) was inconsistent at best. We had 2 rooms and both exhibited the same problems.

The Elysee is a very nice hotel in a very nice neighborhood. The hotel is a short walk from the Dammtor train station which has a Die Bahn travel office. I stayed three nights prior to a cruise and took day trips by train so the location was important to me. The taxi from the airport was approximately 25 euros. If you don't have much luggage you could take the train instead of a taxi. I opted for the included breakfast and was very satisfied with the typical European fare. If I ever go back to Hamburg I'll definitely stay there again.

The staff was great to work with. Great location to shopping and the train station and restaurants. Would recommend staying here over anywhere in Hamburg!

I have just come home from a 2 week stay at the Grand Elysee hotel in Hamburg. The hotel met and exceeded my expectation in every way. Most definitely the largest hotel in europe I have ever stayed in. Rooms were extremely quite and the Pellegrino water and fresh fruit is a bonus in the room. There are 4 english speaking channels on the t'v' but if you are lucky enough to speak German, the channels are abundant. The breakfast was amazing and by the end of my stay, the staff automatically brought me my coffee at my regular table I liked to sit at and the chef prepared my omelet how I liked with out my even having to ask. ...did I mention they serve champagne at breakfast every morning.... The spa is beautiful. I never had to fight anyone for the one treadmill they had in the workout room, and I worked out everyday. The only disappointment was the hot tub never really got hot in the spa. There are always taxi's out front and the train station is 1 block away. Wonderful restaurants within walking distance. The live music in the hotel every evening was a treat as well. I truly enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning next year!

We had a couple of nights in the GE. The room (in the new wing of the hotel - requested before arrival) was clean and well appointed. Staff were all very helpful, and early check-in was no problem. Breakfasts were particularly good. The hotel is about ten minutes walk from the BinnenAlster lake and centre of town. There was some building work going on in the hotel but this did not affect us in the new wing. A first class hotel, and an excellent stay.

Stayed at the Grand Elysse in July 2010 as part of a business trip. Check in was swift and easy. Room was nice, with 2 double beds, large bathroom, air conditioning and free internet. The gym, pool, saunas are free to use for hotel guests, with towels and robes provided. Gym has the usual aerobic machines and a few light free weights. Indoor 14m pool was fine, with whirlpool bath beside it. Also tried the Finnish Sauna, Eucalyptus Sauna and steam room, all very clean. I did not eat at the hotel, however, there are a variety of restaurants. Overall, a pleasant and relaxing stay, woudl recommend to others.

exceptional service, great location and excellent restaurants. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning

I had booked my flights to Hamburg about 3 months before I was due to go, yet due to other reasons had not booked a place to stay until 2 weeks before I was due to go. I found the Grand Elysee and it looked pretty good especially at the price for 3 nights. However, when I turned up, it was far better than 'pretty good'. The place looks like the White House - well from the entrance nearest to the station anyway. The staff was extremely friendly and the room was very clean and big - far better than the usual rubbish that I stay in when in Spanish and Greek islands !! After the Aladin hotel in Las Vegas, this is the best I have ever stayed in and would certainly recommend this to anyone.

Good value for the money.

all great except absence of coffee making facilities, which most other hotels provide. also, sauna was the same for men and women and one is not allowed to wear a swimming costume- only a towel can be wrapped around you! separate saunas would allow more people to use this facitiy.

a nicely located hotel, clean rooms, and a pleasant atmosphere, good breakfast, friendly parking service. Minor negative stuff: the reserved room with kingsize bed was unavailable. The hotel offered 2 single beds, but after protest we were given a kingsize bed in a smoking room (which did not smell of smoke). Also, the soaps were not redistributed for the 2nd night.

We absolutely loved this hotel. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean and with a great view. It was close to the subway, a car rental on the premises. The neighborhood was quiet and safe with great local restaurants nearby. The spa was fabulous. The only drawback I found if there was one is that the gym is just basic. Overall, I would recommend it as the place to stay while visiting Hamburg.

Nice situated with respect to the university, walking distance to the railway station, free Internet.

Et imponerende stort og veludstyret hotel et enkelt stop fra centrum. Her mangler absolut intet! Fantastisk service af søde og hjælpsomme receptionister. Dejlig morgenmadsbuffet i Le Parc! Jeg er en tilfreds gæst og glæder mig allerede til næste besøg!

Alles bestens, nur der Pool war mit ins Wasser springenden Kindern keine Stätte der Erholung

Kombinierter Geschäfts- und Freizeit-Aufenthalt (mit Familie) im April 2012. Ein Hotel, dass die höchsten Anforderungen an den Zustand eines Hotels sowie die Servicequalität erfüllt, ohne dabei zu "traditionell" oder zu "steif" zu sein. Wunderbare Sauna- und Pool-Landschaft, die sich von anderen Hotels wohltuend abhebt. Sehr aufmeksames und freundliches Personal. Nach dem Besuch verschiedener 4 und 5 Sterne-Hotels in Hamburg das Hotel, in dem ich mich am Wohlsten gefühlt habe.

Stor fina rum, med en fantastisk frukost, nära centrum. Fräsch SPA avdelning. Mycket bra service.

Havde brug for et par hyggelige dage i selskab med min datter. Hotellet levede virkelig op til et rigtig dejligt afslappende ophold. God afstand til byen med alle de rigtige butikker for en teenager. Skønt efetr en hel dags shopping at tage en dukkert i hotellets hyggelige wellnessområde.

Jeg har været meget tilfreds med morgenmaden og welness afdeling med sauna og tyrkisk dampbad. Det er et udmærket hotel. Møblerne på værelserne er meget solide.

for et hotel med se glimrende service, pool/spa, morgenmad, senge etc. er det besynderligt at ligenøgagtig wifi skal være så piv-ringe - alt for lav kapacitet

Fint hotel med fantastisk morgenmadsbuffet. En kok laver æg, som du ønsker, frisk appesinjuice og alt i alt mums lækkert. Flinke folk, sæben er bedre på SIDE hotel i Hamborg, men alt i alt - super nice!

Wir waren rundherum mit allem sehr zufrieden.Gemütlich + modern eingerichtetes Zimmer, herrliches Bad, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Besonders gefielen mir die geschmackvolle und künstlerische Gestaltung der Räumlichkeiten und der Spabereich- großzügig und erholsam gestaltet.

Das Grand Elysee überzeugt durch seine Lage (sehr zentral in unmbr. Nähe vom Bahnhof Dammtor, Universität und Innenstadt). ÖPNV und Innenstadt in Gehweite. Am Rande von Pöseldorf mit interessanten Lokalen und der Außenalster. Tolles italienisches Restaurant im Haus. Die Zimmer wie die Bäder sind großzügig. Bei Verfügbarkeit hat man die Wahl zwischen einem Bad mit Dusche oder Wanne. Geräuschdämmung durch Schallschutzfenster und Zimmertüren hervorragend. Der Service ist entsprechend der 5 Sterne Qualifikation hervorragend. Service 1a. Parken in der Tiefgarage recht teuer. Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Das Hotel bietet ein gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und kann uneingeschränkt empfohlen werden.
