our 11th stay-best hotel in Boston, bar none

we were delighted with the location, accomodations, & ammenities. we would highly recommend the Commonwealth to anyone planning to visit the Fenway area of Boston.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Commonwealth. The staff were very welcoming, consistently friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous (and comfortable) and Boston's trees were blossoming and bulbs were blooming (early April). Location was great, subway station next door and trolley tour stops nearby but we were also able to walk home to many places of interest (eg Fenway park nearby). Good restaurants and bars nearby (and on the premises). We would recommend this hotel to others without reservation.

We chose the Hotel Commonwealth because it was reasonably close to our daughter's house and the room seemed reasonable. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room which included a separate seating area with couch and its own TV with curtain that could close it off from the main bedroom. I guess you could call it a junior suite but we only signed up for a basic room. The hotel is very convenient to Fenway and Boston University and not far from the downtown sites. The only real negative was the rather thin wall and the young girls staying and screaming in the room next to us. A quick call to the front desk, however, took care of the problem. If you have car, beware of the parking charge. it was triple the cost of our rental car, but I understand that is just the way it is in Boston, but it was still outrageous to me. All in all, a well-appointed hotel, with an excellent, friendly and accommodating staff at a reasonable price. You can't go wrong here.

I've stayed in a lot of hotels in Boston and this is the only one I would ever recommend!

the hotel was very welcoming and the staff very friendly and responsive. when no coffee-makers were available for the room, i was given coffee on the house to help me work through the night and when i requested a newspaper is was brought immediately. the room itself, as well as the bathroom, were very spacious and comfortable. the only glitch was with the tray of snacks, which register electronically, so simply touching one makes the system think you have bought something (for a rather steep price!). the staff at the front desk, however, are familiar with the problem and believed me immediately, without any difficulties, when i told them i had not removed anything. at times the heating/cooling system could also be a bit loud (a kind of constant hum in the background), but there was the possibility of turning it off. the location next to the subway stop was ideal, and getting into the center of boston very simple and quick. more generally, the staff itself was very professional, willing and able to provide information, always present and available, without ever being intrusive. in combination with a wonderfully spacious and clean room, this stay at hotel commonwealth was a real treat.

This hotel is very popular and rated very highly right now, I was a little concerned that the place may not live up to the hype. This was not the case. We loved this hotel. Every staff member we encountered was gracious, friendly and GENUINE! Our room was on the 5th floor w/ a Fenway view- so peaceful-no street noise at all. The restaurants in the hotel were wonderful. Especially the Eastern Standard-classy and cool. Location was perfect for our needs 10 steps to the Kenmore T stop, around $5 for a cab ride to the prudential (if you prefer to stay above ground).Literally the only complaint we had, was that some of the support staff was a little noisy in the hallways with walkie talkies and knocking. We usually like to try new hotels every time we visit a city, but from now on when we visit Boston the Hotel Commonwealth will be our destination.

This is a trendy spot in Boston to stay. It is hear Fenway and many of the colleges but is a bit of a hike from downtown. This is a clear example of getting what you pay for, albeit at the higher end of the price points for hotels in the area it is worth it; staff is friendly, everything is incredibly clean and well-kept, dining is exceptional. A good thing to know ahead of time is that parking is the same price whether you valet or park yourself - it is a bit of a walk if you park yourself so valet is the way to go. You can come and go as you please without an additional charge which is a nice perk.

Hotel commonwealth is a beautiful hotel with comfort, excellence service, and luxury. Both restaurants in the hotel are delicious and offer the same excellent service. The only opportunities that I would request would be small service ammentities to enhance the stay. For example other hotels in the area offer a complimentary wine hour and all day coffee and hot chocolate. A small simple touch that keeps guests lingering around the hotel area and gives their stay more comfort and something to do within the four walls.

I've been staying at the Hotel Commonwealth since one of its first years open. I'll be in Boston at least once a year minimum with work, usually in January. It's about 10 blocks to the Hynes, 20 mins to BCEC via the T w/ 2 tranfers and across the Mass Pike from Fenway. There may be hotels closer to where you want to be, but NONE will be as nice as the Commonwealth. I told my company after the first stay that I will only go to Boston if I stay there. Period. Jeff, the doorman, is the best I've meet; the front desk is so attentive that they've sent up OTC cold medicine once when I casually mentioned that I was sick during check-in. Rooms are the cleanest with nightly turn down (get it at check-in; they fill your ice and leave you chocolate). All staff is knowledge about the area. The two restaurants connected are superb... I mean I can go on and on about this place. The point is, if there were places of this caliber everywhere I went (I am usually traveling around the country two weekends a month) I would travel more, but the only place that has a hotel as outstanding as the Hotel Commonwealth is Boston. Please try it, but be sure to leave a room open for me!

This was the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. It's located right above the tee and a very short walk to Fenway. They upgraded our room to a Fenway suite and it was awesome. We will stay here again.

Great hotel, close to everything. I'm not sure if we lucked out or because it is the winter months and the Red Sox aren't playing right now but we were able to park at a meter in front of the hotel and didn't have to pay the $42 valet fee. We did have to make sure we had quarters in the meter by 8 am. We only stayed 1 night but everyone that helped us was very friendly.

Wonderful hotel. Wish internet was free for more than a day but best hotel as far as cleanliness goes that I have ever stayed at.

Great location, helpful staff, very comfortable room. Just be aware that your privacy tag should be placed outside your room if you plan to sleep past 8:00am since the highly efficient housekeepers are pretty persistent about getting in to clean- even on check out day!

Fabulous once again!! Great space, staff and vibe!!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel recently, we found it to be an excellent hotel,staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean, it is in a very convenient location.We would have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Commonwealth for your stay in Boston.

This is a lovely boutique hotel with a high-end, five star feel and UNBELIEVABLY WORLD-CLASS SERVICE. At every point, each employee went above & beyond to address me by name, make sure I got what I needed and was always satisfied. I work in the business travel industry, and after 20 years it takes a lot to surprise me when it comes to hotels. This is a GEM, and I will be returning!

A great place to stay, great location with a great view of Fenway Park! Everyone who worked there was so nice. I really enjoyed my stay in Boston.

we stayed at this hotel for first time and enjoyed that it is close to shopping, fenway park, and restaurants - also can walk or run by the river - hotel staff were friendly - our toilet did not work properly but they fixed it same day -

This is the best location for visiting parents Easy for the kids to meet you. BU bookstore across the street. Had a blast on the Duck Tour. Highly recommend.

very beautiful full service hotel. stayed as a birthday gift for my wife (RED SOX fan ) ;easy walk to Fenway, room beautiful, couldn't have been better!

Just stayed overnight at the Hotel Commonwealth, but it was great. Service was wonderful, room was large with a view of Fenway Park. Had breakfast at Eastern Standard, where the excellent service continued. Look forward to staying here again soon.

Enjoyed week in this very smart hotel in a 5th floor Junior suite overlooking Kenmore. Excellent and courteous service. Helpful staff including Samuel, who booked a day trip for us and took the time to provide a hand-written letter explaining the itinerary. The adjoining bar/restaurant was excellent, but busy and quite noisy. The only thing missing was a quieter hotel bar, usually to be found in this class. Note: It is close to Fenway and busy around the area when the Red Sox are at home. However we preferred to stay here close to Back Bay, than downtown, but it is a good 30 minutes walk to the center if you don't want to use the T. which is right under the hotel.

What a fantastic hotel - great location, fabulous rooms, attentive staff and a wonderful sea food restaurant. All first class. Only problem was we didn't stay long enough!

This is a great hotel where the staff really put themselves out to make us welcome. They were helpful with directions and even upgraded our room when we told them it was our anniversary, and we were a retired couple. We will go there again when in Boston. PS Two blocks from Fenway Park.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Commonwealth. It is a luxurious property and so conveniently located near Newbury Street. I would definitely stay there again!

We've stayed many times, our kids went to school in Boston, love the city, and loved the hotel until our most recent stay. We had an upgraded room, which only had one bar of soap, no hair conditioner and no room safe! What??? They seem to be scrimping on things they shouldn't. The shower head was limp, needed a screwdriver to straighten it out, never happened even though we asked, and my husband had to squat to take a shower. Not up to the standards we've come to expect from the Hotel Commonwealth. Will we stay again? Probably, but will have some requests filled before we arrive.

The Commonwealth was excellent, the room was superb, staff was very friendly and helpful. During the same trip we also stayed at the Back Bay Hotel that we also were very pleased with. If I compare, I think the rooms in the Commonwealth, at least our room, was better than in the Back Bay, but the Back Bay location was very convenient for us, as we like walking to the sights. Just outside the Commonwealth there is a T station, which we never used, but if you do, than Commonwealth may have a better location. It is also a question about which places you want to visit, the Commonwealth is more convenient to certain locations, such as Fenway Park. We were very happy with both hotels anyway, and I can recommend the Commonwealth as an excellent place to stay when visiting Boston.

The hotel is clean, up to date and comfortable. Outstanding staff.

Great place, very near Fenway Park, great staff (helpful and friendly). There are many shops and restaurants in the vicinity and their restaurant has a great Sunday brunch. It was better than I expected. I would absolutely return to this hotel.

Great location. Convenient to Fenway. Walking distance to much of Boston. Service was great. Only complaint is the staff did not make us aware of comps (coffee, toiletries, fridge, etc.).

This hotel was great! The location was perfect. I planned a weekend getaway to take my girlfriend to her first game at Fenway. We took the T into Kenmore station. When you come out of Kenmore it is right there. Our room looked out over Fenway and it was so nice there. Hotel is really clean and the rooms are very nice. The hotel is just around the corner from Fenway which was very nice after the game. Easy walk to the hotel and we walked right by the huge lines of people waiting to get on the T. Perfect! Our next trip to Boston will include a stay here.

I can't say enough about our stay. The Hotel Commonwealth has a very pleasant and accomodating staff. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Great location...Fenway in the back ...Newbury Street right around the corner. We enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely recommend this hotel to others. We are already talking about going back!!
