I was in Oslo for a quick solo business meeting and the Thon Hotel Opera was very convenient. Location is super close to the train station and walking distance to much of Oslo. I booked a 'small' hotel room, which has a twin bed rather than the spacious king. It is a good deal for a quick business trip, especially since Norway can be very expensive. It was actually quite cozy and better than some 'traditional' hotel rooms. The space was used quite efficiently. The breakfast buffet was very well done, and a good way to start the day.

This is a wonderful hotel located adjacent to the railway station and is by no means noisy. The breakfast room has a lovely view out to the Opera House and sea and the rooms are elegant and comfortable. In typical Norwegian style the rooms are fairly small but fine for a short stay. The foyer area and dining areas are particularly nice and breakfast includes a wonderful selection in the buffet, including real hot chocolate with fresh cream!

We asked for a family room for 4 people and got a room facing the opera with a balcony. It was a nice room. There was some noise from the street whih disapeared as we closed the window. The hotel is clean, comfortable and breakfast is very rich. A recommended hotel!

The hotel was excellent and the staff so friendly and helpfull. I would definately stay there again.

Quality hotel right opposite fabulous Opera House with views over water.

We were forced to book a suite since we were traveling with our daughter and their standard rooms only accommodate 2. The suite was cheaper than booking 2 rooms and we got a balcony with table and chairs to boot. We could see the Opera House and harbor beyond as we ate our carryout dinner. The location was convenient as it was near the bus station which is an easy way to get to and from the airport and near the train station which begins the "nutshell" fjord tour. The waffles at breakfast with the lingonberry (I think) preserves were a touch of scandinavian cooking that we all enjoyed.

This is a very nice 4-star hotel right next to the Oslo Central Station. Taking the express train from the airport and walking out of the station's south entrance, the hotel is right across the taxi lane with the gorgeous opera house looming behind it. The hotel itself is luxuriously appointed and a cut above most so called 4-star hotels. The staff was great, the room and public spaces fresh, attractive, and very clean. I upgraded from a single room to a room with a larger bed and found the superior room even more enjoyable.

The hotel is very convenient, but we were initially given a room overlooking the station. This was noisy, but staff were very helpful in finding us a quieter room.

Very nice hotel located very close to the central train station. Great breakfast, clean rooms though a bit small but not unreasonably small. reasonable free internet access.

Excellent location. Less then a block away from train station. There is a train to airport ( 20 minute ride) and train from Bergen to Oslo as well as all other parts of Norway stop there. Go out South exit, cross street and you are at hotel. At night, the block from main street (Karl Johans Gate) to hotel can be dark and lonely. Walk through train station instead. Rooms are small but adequate. Little closet space and no drawers. Very clean. Breakfast excellent. Help cuteous and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed stay.

The location is great. Just one minute from the train station. The closest to the train station and all public transportation. Great breakfast buffett. Nice accomodations.

Very nice hotel located right across from central station. Wonderful breakfast buffet and very helpful and friendly staff. The room was a bit small by American standards, but roomy enough for our luggage. I could hear the train station announcements during the day, but it didn't keep me up at night. Easy access to tourist sights, bus, tram, ferry boats, shops and restaurants. Hotel was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location for both air and train travellers. Staff are friendly, efficient with good manner. Comfortable room with adequate facility. Recommended for both business as well as pleasure.

I know that Norway is expensive but when things are expensive I expect them to be good. Dinner in the hotel was not very special, I would say the choice and quality were only mediocre. If you have time I suggest you go into the city to eat.

South of rail station (Oslo S) just beyond the taxis. Tourist Info, bus, tram, subway all in front of station and rail link to airport departs every 10 minutes from station. Very well managed hotel. Rooms good size with modern bathroom. We stayed twice and both times had excellent experiences. Excellent breakfast buffet - best we found in Norway.

. . . but rather expensive (Norway IS expensive). Breakfast was OK, but for the price of the room we expected more. Easy to use the inexpensive train to go to the airport (train station across the street) and be sure to explore the Opera House (across the street).

Like all Thon Conference hotels, the Thon Opera is nice by European standards, specifically that it is small, expensive, and offers limited service. Oslo Central Station is right next to the hotel, which is good and bad: The convenience of have access to the heart of Oslo's mass transit is wonderful, but announcements made for train departures are clearly audible in the room. They make announcements several times per hour at all hours of the night, so that got a little irritating, especially considering the price of the hotel. The breakfast they serve is among the best in Oslo hotels, and the view from the restaurant is nice as it overlooks the new Oslo Opera Hall. Overall, those used to Asian or American hotels should keep their expectations low as this hotel is not nearly as nice as a Westin, Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, or Sheraton, but more like an expensive Marriott Courtyard with really small rooms.

I'm delighted that I have chosen this hotel. It's very convenient, next to Central Railway Station, Sea port, Taxi center, Opera House view. More importantly, we can commu to the Oslo Airport simple and easy with Express Train. I will definitely come back to this hotel for my next trip to Oslo.

My friend and I stayed here two nights with a trip to Sweden in between. It was great. Location was perfect for travel by train. We had previously stayed closer to the center of the city. Both met our needs. What fun to walk from the train station to the Royal Palace on a beautiful fall evening in Oslo. The breakfast was fantastic. We had just a wonderful experience here.

Hotel was centrally located to the boat terminal and the train station. It was also within walking distance of all the sites to see. Would highly recommend.

Terrific location in every respect. We upgraded to Superior Room with balcony overlooking the Opera. Excellent staff. Excllent breakfast buffet. Same for dinners. Great value! We would stay there again in a heart beat.

Hotel is close to the central station at the side of a main road - we were on the 9th floor and heard no noise either in or outside the hotel. Room is a little small, but comfortable. Great breakfast, staff friendly and accommodating

The Thon Hotel Opera was very nice. Its proximity to the Central Train Station was wonderful. The room was very nice. The breakfast was excellent. The wifi internet access was a bit awkward, more so than any hotel in which we stayed in Scandinavia. Like most hotels in Norway, I found it a bit pricey but not out of line in comparison with others.

Flying into Oslo, taking the FlyTOGet train to the Central Station puts you at the front door of this hotel which is adjacent to the beautiful Oslo Opera House. The square of the train station is where the Tourist Informatioon Center is located. Cross the steet and you are on the main pedestrian street of Oslo and from where you can walk to most of the historical sites of the town. Great buffett breakfast, free internet connection. Taking the Norway in Nutshell out of the Central Station to Bergen?- definately stay here for convenience. Outstanding!

Supert hotell og delig frokost, det eneste som trakk ned var at det ikke var noen avtale om parkering så det ble rådyrt å sette fra seg bilen.

Veldig bra! Hotellet ligger sentralt til togstasjonen og til shoppingmuligheter. Veldig fornøyd. Utrolig god frokost og alt! Hit kommer vi gjerne tilbake!

Utmerket lite enerom, men for dårlig lys på badet

Ein schönes Hotel mit super Frühstücksbuffet! Das entschädigt auch für das etwas kleine Zimmer. Die Lage ist sehr zentrumsnah, direkt gegenüber der Oper. Gut sind die kurzen Wege, auch zum Hafen. Etwas unansehnlich sind dagegen die zurzeit rundum stattfindenden Bauarbeiten zur Neustrukturierung Oslos.

Perfekt

Sehr gute Lage für alle Ausflüge. Wir hatten ein Superior-Zimmer im 10. Stock mit tollem Ausblick über Oslo und den Fiord.

Flott hotell med god standard. Kommer helt klart tilbake !
