This hotel was in a great location--next to the Macy's Department Store near Times Square. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was very good. I would most definitely stay here again as well as recommend this place to others. I actually walked from Penn Station (with luggage)--it was several blocks, but not a bad walk--easy to find. Two thumbs up.

The hotel itself is very handy to business activity in midtown. It has a good restaurant for evening meals and ws very handy as it rained the day and night of my arival. My room was very small but servicable and the shower was excellent with three shwoer heads. Staff was knowledgeable and always helpful with requests. I would recommend for business travel and will stay there again on my next trui to New York.

Overall very good experience. First trip to NYC- room small but most rooms in NYC hotel small. Good closet space. Needs work on ventalation--, no fan in bathroom.room AC- should be central air. Staff excellent, helpful and pleasant Coffee always available, Resturants close by, not a bad meal anywhere we ate.. Parking garages not affliated with hotel, however be careful, they are not honest on their prices, Great time in big apple, Hotel Metro A OK

Loved this little hotel! Location could not have been any better. Close to shops, restaurants, coffee shops, subway stations. Very friendly and helpful staff. Unpretentious in it's atmosphere, yet nicely decorated and clean. Rooms were small but functional and comfortable. Good water pressure in showery, free WiFi. Only negative was the complimentary breakfast with a poor set up and limited breakfast choice, but would still very much recommend this hotel to family and friends and would stay there again in the future.

simple and easy

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Metro. It was very close to shopping and restaurants, the hotel restaurant was yummy, and our room was not nearly as small as we expected. We slept well and loved the staff. We'd definitely stay there again.

My bed did not have a bed bug mattress lining; made me wonder if they have ever had a problem with them?

This is the third time my business partner and I stayed here. We both live in NJ...but during Fashion Week we stay in the city as our showroom/offices are around the corner. We work long hours and have many business dinners, so it is best to stay in the city. Hotel Metro is a lovely hotel that is clean, has a breakfast room, a street entry bar and a rooftop bar. It is quiet at night with good showers and flat screen TV...an empty frige for your own bought items....this stay our room was facing a huge construction site....but when my alarm went off.....so started the saws & drills. If I was vacationing, this would have bothered me very much....so I suggest a room facing 35th Street... Overall..the employees were kind and thoughtful and helpful, always...we will continue to stay here in the future!

The Hotel Metro was in a greta place, 50 yards from a Subway Station, adjacent to great restaurants, and all-around very well done.

I have stayed in many hotels in NYC and this hotel just might be my favorite. Staff was incredibly friendly. Room was large with beds being incredibly comfortable. Enjoy atmosphere and overall decor.

Very nice hotel lobby with excellent front desk staff. I ended up in the handicap accessible room, so I couldn't rate the room the same way I would rate a standard room. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean, but there was no central air -- only an in-window air conditioner that was very loud and not efficient. Breakfast the next morning was quite nice, with many options, by too many people were trying to eat at the same time.

The hotel was really convenient for Broadway, Penn station and Macy's. Its also right by a subway stop to get to the other city sights. Lots of stuff in walking distance. Rooms were small but very comfortable and good value for where they were in the city. Bed was very comfortable. Having outside space in the bar on the top floor was nice. Breakfast was reasonable and staff were friendly. We stayed for our wedding anniversary and it didn't disappoint. I'd recommend staying here.

Hotel Metro was clean and the staff extremely accomodating. The room was clean, yet microscopic: The bathroom door hit the bottom of the bed and two people could not pass by one another without inhaling. And yet, it was quiet and the AC in good working order. Great Gym! Very Good location. Overall, good value for the money at the height of tourist season.

Need a convenient, reasonable & clean hotel for a quick stay in NYC? Hotel Metro exceeded my expectations. Room is small but clean w/ nice extras- Kuerig coffee maker, ipod Home, flat screen, fluffy duvet, rooftop bar, free internet. All for a great deal. Easy walk to shopping, Highline, etc. Will use again.

Me and my wife went into the city to celebrate our anniversary. I bought the NYC pass, and had a Full day planned and just could fit in all the things we wanted to do, but the one thing I didn't have to worry about was the hotel and my things. The hotel was VERY helpful, and I will confided doing it all over again sooner than later.

Great location. Consistently clean and well appointed rooms. Friendly staff. Right next door to a very decent restaurant--Metro Grill. Only draw back on this stay was the air conditioning in the room was not very strong -- it was just my bad luck that I happened to be there on the hottest day in over 60 years! Otherwise, great value for the money. And I have seen quite a few hotels in NYC.

I've never had to stay in a New York hotel before since previously I've lived in the city and had friends that live there. But this time during my visit I decided to do something different and decided to stay in a hotel. i was so happy I stayed at Hotel Metro. The room was clean and comfortable. The service was good and the hotel was perfectly located. All for the right price. I would totally recommend this hotel and will stay again when I come to NYC.

Hotel is conveniently located to subway and midtown sites, and meets basic needs. Free wifi (reasonably fast), ample continental breakfast (gets crowded during peak hours, as do elevators). Rooftop bar is nice, though only open until 11. Can take food/drinks up there other hours too, and it's literally in the shadow of the Empire State building! Room was small but quiet. Air conditioner was loud, but necessary since window didn't open and at least the fan covered occasional NY street noise. Staff very friendly. We'd stay here again!

Conveniently located in Midtown. Friendly service, comfortable, clean and loved the rooftop bar with great nightime views.

I was traveling alone and was concerned about the location for this hotel. But there was no need for that - it is brightly lit and cleanly presented and easy to get to...no dark alleys or anything like on Law & Order SVU. The checkin process was simple and pleasant unlike some of the larger more "touristy" hotels. The room was spacious, clean and attractive. For those who care, the tv was a flat-screen Sony and was easy to work. I was in NYC for a quick get together with friends from my old public school ( PS 26 Queens) and there were about 35 people there most from my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade class - 50 some odd years later (we are all 63/64 years old). I recommended the hotel to those who will fly in to NYC for our next "reunion" next year. Great place!

Great mid-range hotel in the Herald Square area. Upper level rooms are renovated and are a good size with flat screen tvs, comfy beds and great showers. Rooftop bar and access 24 hours a day is a great unique feature along with the free breakfast. Enjoyed my stay!

The only possible thing I can fault about the hotel is that the halls are not as crisp and fresh (or as air conditioned) as the rooms. That out of the way, this was a wonderful place to stay....clean, stylishly decorated room, complete with large flat screen TV and beautiful (though maybe a bit compact) bathroom and well stocked Keurig coffee maker....all put together with a kind of Pottery Barn kind of feel to it. Not what some will be looking for, but comfortable and clean and stimulating. The veautuful ooftop outdoor lounge with it's great drinks and pleasant, attentive staff capitalizes on a amazing in-your-face view of the Empire State Building, just a block or so away and soar into the sky. Parking? Just across the street and complete with a nice hotel discount. Neighborhood? Safe, upbeat, koreatown restaurants in the block, within walking distance to Penn Station, Times Square, Macy's, and much great shopping and sight seeing. All at a very low price. Book It!

I stayed at the metro hotel for the weekend with a friend. The room was a little small, 1 queen bed and not much moving around space, but for the price and location, that was expected. The hotel is in a great location, a block away from the empire state building. This hotel has a beautiful rooftop bar, but it closes at 930. The hotel staff was extremely nice, they let us keep our bags there the entire day (after we checked out) while we explored the city. I definitely would go back to Hotel Metro again.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise in a very nice location. Rooms were clean but small. Difficult to have someone exit shower while another is using the sink....but this was a minor inconvenience. My girlfriend complained that the hair dryer kind of sucked.....also a minor inconvenience. Roof top balcony was nice. Complementary breakfast was okay, Elevators in the morning always crowded with European guests staying there. Exit the front door to the right and you are literally steps from the 34th St./ Herald Square subway entrance which provides a direct subway trip or minimize transfers to many locations. Empire State Building, Time's Square, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park are all within reasonable walking distances. The pick up location for Tripper Bus from Washington DC in front of Macy's on 34th street is very close to Hotel Metro which enables you to have a late afternoon or evening departure and not have to lug around bags for several hours after the 12 noon check out time. (Bell Captain at hotel will hold your bags and issue tickets to claim your bags when you are ready to leave.) Overall, friendly staff, excellent location, and great value.

I've paid a bundle to sleep in a matchbox in NYC, so my expectations were low. Wow! I was very pleasantly surprised. Newly decorated, spacious room. Great bed. Bathroom area beautiful, but small, but hey, its NY. No tub - that's OK. View was construction workers - didn't come for the view. Empire state Bldg less than block away. Subway entrance 30 yards down the sidewalk. Time Sq. and theaters walking distance. Felt like I was at EPCOT - just about all the other guests spoke French, German, Spanish or had a British accent. All were friendly. FREE wifi AND FREE cont. breakfast!! I will definitely come back.

Hotel was quite convenient to Penn Station and surrounding area of Herald Square and Times Square. Off 5th avenue it did not have the trafic noise and rooms proved to be exceptionally quite for downtown address. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable for a city stay. Breakfast was included and was more than acceptable, though better to get down early as tables were at a premium by 8:30am on a Saturday.

The Hotel Metro is one of New York's true bargains. The staff was lovely, the room was attractive, clean, comfortable, and perfect for our needs. Our standard double was small, as was the bathroom, but how much space do you really need when you've got the whole city to explore? One caveat: We did overlook a construction site, but it was not active over the weekend. I imagine it would be pretty noisy during the week.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Metro. The staff was nice and helpful, the breakfast was good and the facility was comfortable.

We stayed for three days and really enjoyed our stay. Personnel very friendly and nice. We had a problem with exhaust fan and it was taken care in a timely manner. The location was really nice, less than a block from major stores and public transportation. The hotel's restaurant has wonderful food and attention. I will definitely will come back. Thanks

Very nice hotel in a great location an easy walk to/from the subway, Times Square, Macy's and the Empire State. many, many options for shopping and dining in the immediate area (Garment District). the hotel is in excellent condition and all facilities worked well. as has been mentioned the rooms are small (or ours was) but very comfortable and well appointed. Staff were great and particular thanks to Matthew manning the front door and lobby who was very pleasant and helpful. we did have to deal with some local street noise but this was really not that noticeable and did not interrupt our sleep. the local construction noise was a bit of a nuisance and meant an early start at 0700 but obviously wasn't anything the hotel could control. the complimentary breakfast and Tuesday night wine and cheese was much appreciated and enjoyable though early sessions for breakfast (before 0830) should be avoided as this is apparently a popular time for some visitors to NYC! overall we enjoyed our stay and would definately stay again on another visit to the Big Apple.

This was my third stay at the metro. It will not be my last. Very pleasant, well kept, European-style hotel with a better than average continental breakfast. The only downside is construction next door during the day and a location convenient to Penn Station but not much else. I do recommend it.

This is a great hotel if you want to see the Empire State Building from the rooftop. It's also close to two subway lines and near Koreatown. The only draw back was that we had a room where there was no air (it got stuffy at nights) and in the mornings, the fire alarm would go off (just the lights around 9 am). Other than that, it's location was convenient to Times Square (10 minute walk).

I recently stayed here with my teenage daughter. The hotel was clean,the staff friendly and helpful, and the our room with two double beds was quite big for NYC. Be sure and ASK for two double beds if that is what you want. The location was great - in Herald Square, right at the subway stop and across from the big Macy's. We had a few quirks with our room, but the staff fixed things up for us immediately. I loved the Art Deco feel to the place. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends who are looking for a clean, affordable, convenient hotel in NYC.

Great location. Nice room. Service was good. Room was not ready when we tried to check in at 4:00pm.

Good location - were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go - down to Eataly and up to MOMA and the park. However, on 5th floor with room facing the street, we got a lot of street noise during the night disrupting sleep. Traffic and you could even hear people talking. The rooms are very small as the reviews say, but this did not bother me if you are only using the hotel to sleep.
