This is not normally an issue for most, however, for 5 divers it was a huge costly problem. Hotel policy does not allow 5 to a room. On top of that, they were unhelpful and rude when we were trying to work out the issue. It's a beautiful hotel, but probably not worth the money

This is the only hotel I stay at in the Freeport and I travel there about 4 times a year. The staff are great. The hotel is amazing. It is a great place to stay.

Great resort with lots to offer. Nice rooms, restaurants, pools and beach access. The hotel offers plenty of fun things on the extended property. This is a place to go if you want to just stay and relax, The island, however, is very industrial. If going to Grand Bahama, definitely stay on a resort property.

I love this hotel and this island. I travle all around the caribbean and this is one of my favorite places to stay. Great service, great location and big rooms. You won't be disappointed.

I had an enjoyable stay at the Grand Lucayan recently. The staff were most helpful especially at the front desk. I particularly appreciated the prescience of a Starbucks right there on site! The room was clean and well kept and the balcony was welcome....especially on my day off when the morning sun's rays helped me to relax! The Lucayan Marketplace was an ideal place to buy odds and ends and gave me a good choice of restaurants.

Everything inside the hotel was very clean. The pools, grounds and surroundings were also well maintained. Had a great stay with very comfortable beds as well. They have everything on the main grounds including coffee shop and a few restaurants - with a casino and the market right across the street we had many things to do along with relaxing.

I actually stayed for 6 days here at the Grand Lucayan. The cleaning service was superb and they even allowed me to remain in room as they cleaned, and did a great job. The weather was a bit cool and whirlpool water was freezing as well, but other than that it was a great stay.

The hotel was well-located and well-maintained. Small suggestions would be--keep the hallways warmer (many guests were discussing this and it makes no sense ecologically or for client's comfort), have trash cans on the beach, and have later hours for spa treatments so guests can enjoy the daytime activities and have spa treatmets later.....

Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were nicer than expected . Spacious clean and comfy beds. Beautiful beach and great location across from the Marketplace . We did not eat at any of the hotel restaurants as there were many choices and great deals at the marketplace .

Hotel was much nicer than we thought. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. Overall the hotel was gorgeous, especially the lobby which was a very nice place to sit and relax. Churchills was absolutely wonderful, with prices about the same as restaurants in the marketplace across the street witch were no where near as nice. My only complaint was that there was difficulty in locating postings for restaurant hours in the hotel.

We visited for 2 nights to relax away from work. The hotel surroundings were nice, however at the time the hotel was very quiet. I could imagine in a busier time the hotel would not be as relaxing. The staff in the most part were helpful however working in the Travel industry there was inconsistency in service across the board. The food during the day time did however not impress, although Churchills restaurant was fantastic. Dont expect to be able to get 24 hour room service, or have guests to visit you in the hotel without staff been rude and charging you.

Loved this hotel and all of its amenities! Beautiful water and beaches. Friendly staff as well! Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

We always enjoy our stay at the Grand Lucaya!!

Pro's: The property is big & beautiful. The landscape is like a postcard. Amenities are numerous & well kept. The beach is blue, calm, powdery & expansive. Amazing staff always with kind words and smiles. Wonderful port market across the street full of shopping, bars and diverse restaurants. Zorba's has amazing breakfast & fried grouper or gyros. Five star restaurant flying fish next door. Casino is well equipped & serves free drinks for both tables & slots. Churchill's is beautiful, classy and a fair 4 star value. China Beach is very attractive, but a Bahamian version of Chinese food. The Cons: Freeport by airports other than Miami or Ft Lauderdale is limited. (U S Customs is at Freeport which is a real plus and time saver.) Only 50% operational and the low rise hotel building & pool has been mothballed due to the economy. Food at the pool bar is so so and over priced. Restaurants open on alternate days. Tips: If you go in high season, it will not feel crowded and more things will be in full swing. If you go in low season, you will get a great rate and have the place to yourself, nice and quiet. Purchase bottles across the street at the duty free and save a bundle. A very nice, safe, super clean and reasonably priced alternative the other islands with all the amenities. You will not be disappointed.

Very relaxing getaway. The Fish Fry at Prop Club was awesome - best on the island - waste of taxi fare going to Outriggers.

My family and I had a WOW! Experience at the Grand Lucayan Beach & Golf Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahamas, Pedro Miller was the Manager that checked us in we spent about 15minutes talking to him about the Island and the hotel, before we got to our room we already feel relax and special. David was the Bellman, what a great asset to your company. If you are checking in at the Grand Lucayan Beach & Golf Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahamas asked for David the Bellman. He did a great job going over the property and explaining the room features. The room was very clean, when we call Housekeeping to request extra coffee and water, Mary King was very pleasant and helpful, the items was brought up within 1minute WOW! Also the room attendant that cleaned the room was (Otorian) very friendly and helpful she did a great job. The bed was very comfortable and relaxing. THE GRAND LUCAYAN IS THE PLACE TO VACATION WHEN IN THE BAHAMAS.

Clean comfortable hotel. But had a long walk to the room.

We had a suite on the eighth floor and found it quite luxurious. The room had a kitchenette with some dishes, a mini fridge, a microwave, a sink, nearby access to an ice machine (no ice bucket though), a king size bed, two glorious balconies overlooking the ocean, two flat screen TVs (one did not seem to work), free Ethernet and wireless Internet, nice furniture, bath tub, shower, spacious bathroom, it was excellent. The TV had Showtime, HBO, some cable channels, but we would have preferred a PPV movie option as well. The hotel grounds are expansive, there are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, and things to do nearby. The concierge also hooked us up with some fun outings. We would definitely go back, the people of the Bahamas are as warm and cheery as the climate!

Since we were not aware of the spring break that was taking place in our first booked hotel we changed to Grand Lucayan which did not allow any spring brake guests, if you ask me this is a huge + and a smart move since bad reputation might destroy the business, The hotel was well organized and the whole area including the room was very clean, the beach was excellent, I would definitly recommend this Hotel.

I was very happy with the room, the location, and the services. That said, I was a little bothered by the fact that I paid for an ocean view room with a king bed for my wife and I. When we got there, we ended up getting two double beds, and there was nothing they could do to help us. Other than that, we loved it.

We visited the property Christmas week. Was surprised the occupancy rate was relatively low for the time period. This has to be the best kept secret in the Bahamas. It is a magnificent property with a stunning pool and beach setup, casino and ample food options but is in need of an aggressive marketing campaign to bring it back to where it was 5 years ago, the time of our last visit. One complaint - 1 pool towel per customer is cheap. Please change that policy. We will be back.

Beautiful property, well maintained. Gorgeous beach. Lots of pools and two hot tubs. Very friendly and helpful front desk, housekeeping and security staff. Proximity to Port Lucaya for restaurants.Not much to do for kids/adolescents. A games room, ping pong or even board game borrowing would be nice. Towels for pools only available til 4 pm in the afternoon. Breakfast at the hotel is expensive and not great, adds up when you are feeding a family.We ate out mostly.

This was our second trip to the Grand Lucayan and we plan to return again and again. Wi-Fi is free and even works on the beach. Friendly staff, clean rooms, market place across the street with great restaurants and shopping. Want to relax...best place to come.

We absolutely loved our Thanksgiving trip to the Grand Lucaya! The rooms were comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. The gym had great equipment and the lap pool and hot tub just outside was wonderful. We loved having the access to the Market Place across the street & enjoyed the outdoor concert and limbo man! We had three very good dinners at the Market Place during our stay. We even at a turkey dinner at Cafe Breeze! They made a delicious stuffing along with ham and turkey. We look forward to going back and we will definitely stay here again.

I stayed at Lucaya Raddison over the weekend with a friend who goes to Ross. If you look around the area, you can't really imaging getting a better hotel (and the inifinity pool in the back is nice), but the quality of the room reminded me of a roach motel. It clearly hasn't been updated in years, the seals inside of the bathroom tub were rotted and falling out, and the service staff is rude. I don't blame them, it appears that Freeport has suffered badly in light of the economy and hurricane rebuilding cost. The only reason I stayed was to see my friend, and while we had a great time together, the quality of the hotel was desired, but not satisfied. I will definitely try another hotel the next time I visit, but I don't have my hopes up (I still can't believe this place has a four diamond award). One good note - Amazing lobby... Thats about it.

Staff was so friendly and service was quick! Ocean view is completely worth the extra bucks! Had a blast! Drinks were full of spirits and Food was delicious! Many pools to choose from! Would of liked to hear only Caribean music by the pool. One day they played country music and it just didnt feel right. Overall, i would go back in a second!

The Hotel is old and huge, looking like a building from the old Eastern Part of Germany. The aircondition is so noisy and old fashioned that you hear and even feel the shaking of the machines in all rooms. We were travelling around the world, it's worse than anywhere else. The promise of the hotel is, if you are not satisfied, you don't pay. What a lie!!! If it would cost $ 20.--, one would not to expect anything. Do not go there at all.

The ;ast to we were in the Bahamas was 10 years ago, and we were surprised that it was empty and locals were almost surly. There was little activity - kind of disappointing vacation.

The resort was very well maintained with a comfortable room and picturesque setting. The beach was very nice as were the surrounding pool area. I was pretty impressed with the gym facilities too, most hotel gyms are so small. This was spacious with a lot of different pieces of quality equipment. We didn't eat at the restaurants on the resort, the shopping area across the street had a lot of variety and quality food to offer. Overall, a great stay and the hotel met my expectations.

The hotel workers were friendly, nice, helpful and efficient. The beds were extremely comfortable. When I realized I left a toothbrush at home, I called the main desk and they had someone deliver it within 5 minutes. The beach is great, right behind the hotel. The hotel has chairs for their guest and they have people on the beach to help with the chairs. Pools were clean. The view from our ocean view room was breathtaking, and its worth the extra fee to wake up and watch the sun rise over the water!

If you are staying on grand bahama, this and it's sister property are the places to stay. We went in the slow season and anything happening on the island was pretty much in our lucaya and surrounding. It had nice upscale facilities without being snobby or uncomfortable. No screaming kids in the pool no intolerant snobs either. Grand bahama was pretty quiet while we were there, keep in mind. This seems to be the nicest hotel on the island. We rented a car but not much to see except more beaches, some of them deserted and lovely blue water and soft sand. Locals never go in the water and avoid the sun. They seem bored and depressed, you get a weird vibe from them. Must be anyone with any ambition gets off that island the day they turn 18. Food the same everywhere it's cracked conch and rice, very nice the first few times. Very nice soft sand and blue water, truculent and bored locals who avoid the elements. You see locals going out of their way to avoid touching water. Funny people actually. Not much happening on the island except cruise ships that wash in and out like the tides, floating in and out some thousand tourists in a regular flow from 10 to 3 each day. They come, they go, and the island never changes.

We had two rooms and both parties had to change rooms one room at 1:00 am the other in the morning when there was no hot water in room. I did say I would recommend it because I think they have the potential to be a good hotel but need to improve their maintenance, and front desk staff. the maids and service people were quite pleasant. The location on the beach is great.
