BEST WESTERN LAKE LUCILLE INN - واسيلا

I flew into Anchorage and I need a place to spend a night before starting my tour of Alaska. I picked this hotel because none of the hotels in Anchorage sounded very inviting and because I was in Alaska for the scenery, not the city. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this hotel was. All of the rooms on the lake side of the hotel have balconies (sliding glass doors) with a beautiful view overlooking Lake Lucille with snow-capped mountains in the background! The hotel has a beautiful lobby complete with a stuffed grizzly, a moose head, and some bears. The hotel looks clean and updated. The room was nice and clean and everything worked well. There were no problems. The front desk attendants were very friendly and helpful. They had a fairly comprehensive breakfast on a terrace overlooking the lake – beautiful! The hotel is on the edge of town but restaurants and shopping areas in Wasilla are not far away. Just one thing to be aware of. The rooms are not air-conditioned. My wife and I were there in June so the daytime highs were in the 60s and night time lows in the 40s so sleeping with the sliding door opened slightly made the room very comfortable. Plus they provide very nice, quiet, oscillating fans that worked very well. The room was very quiet for my wife and I and we slept well. But there is a grassy area between the hotel and the edge of the lake where noisy nighttime guests might play. However, our room remained quiet with no disturbing noise and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would definitely stay again.

Very nice place, but kind of pricey for such a small room.

we loved this hotel. It was on a peaceful, scenic lake with a nice deck to sit, watch the ducks and relax. this was the perfect place to stop between driving from anchorage to denali for an overnight stay. highly recommend this for the convenience, friendliness and great price.

Beautiful scenery! Hotel was comfortable and very clean. Nice continental breakfast. Restaurant not open during the rest of the day.

Arrangements to clean our room quickly for an early arrival were made and we did not wait long for occupancy. Special AARP rate discount was applied. We have given this inn five stars in all areas. Our continental breakfast exceeded expectations with several selections both hot and cold. We were somewhat disappointed that the restaurant and bar areas were not open, nor watercarft available for the tourist season.

Nice hotel. Sorry the restaurant closed... we heard it had been good. Loved the bird sounds off the lake. Beautiful views attentive staff and comfortable bed. The work out area was in terrible disrepair. Most machines didn't work. Loved the sauna, but was disappointed that the hot tub was in such poor condition. We'd stay there again though.
