Manager was accommodating but this hotel is run down. Rooms smell and neighborhood is so-so.

Location was good. Near the expressway, border and shipping ports for my business. The hotel is pretty worn out, but it is clean and there are plenty of restaurants, etc. in the neighborhood. Good for road warriors.

this hotel is giving bad name to other wise a known hotel chain.BEST WESTERN should look into it seriously. Broken windows,dirty carpet ,bad smell,unfilled shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.Non working flush.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have been in many. The first room had wet towels all over the bathroom-it hadn't even been touched. We changed rooms and the second room had hair in the tub aand stains all over the carpet. It smelled and people were yelling outside all night. The walls were paper thin and you could hear every word of the people in the room next door. It was in a shady part of town next to a club. I felt unsafe and disgusted the whole time. I even had my one year old son with me and couldn't put him on the floor because it was so gross. I went here because it was rated three stars which was not the correct rating. Never stay here, it is gross and unsafe.

The hotel clerk/manager seem undecided when I arrived to check in. She fidgitted about before giving me my room. At first, she was not receptive to me at all. When I went into the room she assigned me I proceeded to that the windows were all secured. I discovered that the window close to the entry door could not latch securely. I further discovered that the window to the back was missing the glass and was hidden only by a flimsy piece of celetex board that my hand went right through. The manager apparently ght that the thick curtain would have concealed the broken window. When I went back to the front office to request that I be transferred to a different room, the manager/clerk was guick to state "sorry, I forgot that that window got broken yesterday and we are yet to fix it" --- such a lier!! Oh, one more thing. There were so much spit enroute to my room. The workers had a propane tant with a make shift cooker and some beer cans left abandoned outside one of the rooms downstairs. I think that this hotel would have seen its better days. Thankfully, I only checked in at 9:30 PM and checked out at 7:20m two days after.

Great Price, Mediocre Service. The staff doesn't go out of their way to provide service.. The room was clean & comfortable. It took a day to have the tub drain unplugged. Get up early if you want the free breakfast.

We were in our room and you can hear people talking in the middle of the night. Bad location! Never stay in that hotel again!!

I was disappointed when I first went to ck. in at the Best Western I thought I had made reservations with, which was the brand new one near the Bay. I was told they could give me a room but for twice the price. Since that was out of my budget, I quietly walked out, feeling I wouldnt get the quality room I had wanted, at the older one a few miles away. Much to my surprise, the rooms have been upgraded and very nice, such as granite and very nice bed linens. I was very happy with the staff and I am planning for a return stay later this week, if possible. You wont be disappointed if you stay here and so many stores, shops and eating places within the block, not to count it is 1/2 block from the local bus and trolley service, along with freeway access just as close.You would think with all of this transportation service that close, there would be endless noise...not even any that I heard while in my room. They come with new micro.and frig. and a safe and large dressing counter I enjoyed too. You are within 10 minutes of the downtown, and 15 minutes from San Diego Zoo, 20 minutes from Sea World. There is Black Angus, AM/PM, Taco Bell, McDonalds, on the same block of our hotel....not to count dozens of other stores within 10 minutes, including Wal-Mart and Costco. If all of this doesnt macke you want to stay here, I dont know what will. I loved the employees at the front desk and how understanding and polite they were. Thanks again Best Western, once again you came thro. for me! I know this sounds too good to be true, and I am not a real consumer, but trust me....I am!! I am one of those who only represents the truth, and would not say these things if I did not get the pleasure of having. GO BEST WESTERN...cant wait to stay at the one in Mineral Wells Texas again....that one was WONDERFUL also...so much so, I stayed my whole 2 week vacation there, as my home base instead of changing hotels as I visited family in surrounding towns!! My overall stay was ok, I didn't like the fact that the worker in the breakfast room approached me to confirm my room number.. I felt like she thought we were too many for one room, when it fact we were a large family and reserved 5 rooms due to attending a local family function..

I had the worst experience overall in this stay!! I booked 1 king bed & they provided me with 2 small beds & they try to blame Hotels.com by over booking room which they say it was sold out!! They also put me next to the pool on the 1st floor which was a load scene. The room was cold & they don't have a heater in the room only A/C unit. The bathroom ugly & toilet seat was old. Like I said again Hotels.com I had a very bad experience & I wouldn't be staying near that place again.

I have stayed here before but this time things were a little below average!

The price was really reasonable and the hotel was generally clean, but the neighborhood is a little noisy, and we can here people next door talking.

Overall, the hotel cleanliness was maintained throughout our stay, free breakfast provided was ample except for the cold boiled eggs, room rate was reasonable. Only negative comment was their was no vent in the room and the room was kind of smelly everytime you come back in.

Please, do yourself a favor and do not stay at this hotel. The hotel it's self was dingy and the area around it was very sketchy. The mattress, let's just say that Ive slept on better ones at a hospital. It's on a main street, so all night you will hear various random people conversations as they walk by in addition to cars. The room we stayed in was in bad condition, in that all the furniture was pretty banged up and or didn't match anything in the room. My biggest issue was dealing with the shower. When u turned the nozzle, water squirted out onto the floor and in addition, the tub was backing up. When I called the front desk to let her know, I was told (1) maintence wouldn't be in until the morning and then (2) just to put a towel on floor, like she's had to probably tell other hotel guest. After having to call for maintence 3 times that next morning, the maintence person finally came. While "working" on the shower for about an hour, the maintence person stormed out of the room stating it was fixed and I could see for myself. Well, I went to go look for myself and the tub was still backed up. Well maintence came again, upset at that, and told me that all I had to screw the drain completely off and then the tub would drain. The maintence man then proceeded to get on the phone, call the front desk and tell them a false story in Spanish. What he didn't realize is that we speak Spanish, so I called the front desk and called him on what he was telling the front desk. The front desk offers to move us into another room in a couple of hours, or that we could check out. Needless to say, we checked out. Poor customer service. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere else.

Nice and clean hotel for a family.

The staff was not friendly or helpful, we did not have clean towels everday, and they did not clean our room when we left for the day.

Positives: -Right by the tram stop (great if you're going to Mexico) -Free Lotion, Conditioner, and Shower Gel -Fridge and Microwave -Cheap Negatives: -Right by the tram stop (lot of train bells and horns) -Free lotion is mislabeled as free soap and vice versa -The pillows are made of some non-breathable material that makes you sweat like a hog in an oven -There's ANTS!! And service was horrible too: -I reserved a king, when I got there, the guy said I had been "upgraded" to a double...c'mon, be honest, I understand things happen, but c'mon, don't insult my intelligence. -Checkout time is 11am but maid was banging on my door at 10:27am... Apparently the maids desire to go home supersedes the necessity to have good service. Surrounding neighborhood isn't the nicest, and you get a lot of weirdos from the tram walking by, but overall the neighborhood seemed safe. Lot of interesting local restaurants within a 2 mile radius. If I was going to Mexico, and wanted to go by tram, and didn't care what kind of bed I would be sleeping in when I came back, then I probably would come again. It's pretty convenient location wise. But, since I am a hotel-living student, this place is positively unacceptable. Ants AND trying to kick me out early? C'mon. What kind of management does this place have? Best Western should revoke it's name from this place.

overall a good hotel for the affordable price.

When checking in for our stay the lobby wasn't open. We had to use the night window which was creepy and right by a busy street. The attendant was not wearing a unifrom just a white tank and sweatpants. We did not get our own key to the room. He had to let us in everytime we left and came back which was totally inconvenient. I had booked a king size bed and had gotten 2 queen size beds which was fine. But the air conditioning did not work and could not sleep the whole night. And when I did finally sleep, the radio alarm had gone off. Never ever ever again! Ever!

Ants in the bathroom but otherwise room was okay

First room smelled of human urine and had so much hair and mold in the bathroom that we requested to be moved within the first 2-3 minutes of having entered the room. The second room at least was lacking the hair, mold and smell of urine, but we did not dare take off our shoes due to the carpet being filthy. Bottoms of our shoes stuck to it in some spots. We kept our flip flops handy. Even though their quality of towels were a great difference than the ones I brought from home, housekeeping still managed to take our towels from our room as if they were hotel towels. The air conditioning was another area of issue in that it did not function properly or efficiently during the duration of our 3 night stay even after repeated requests; I did not dare to request moving for fear of getting a room dirtier than we had. The door lock was not only physically damaged, but there was internal software issues that caused us to have to get our key card recoded each time we entered our room. Not only was that a disappointment, but they also recoded our keys as new keys each time versus as a copy key requiring that all keys for the room needing to be recoded. Was very frustrating. With us visiting from out of state we were much more interested in going to the Pacific rather than the pool which was a good thing due to the fact that the one time we did go to jump in the pool we quickly changed our minds due to the green coloring of the water. This green coloring was not from the surface of the pool bottom or chemicals, but rather the lack of pool cleanliness and chemicals. We won't even elaborate on their breakfast beyond water downed juice and mushy waffles was not our idea of a good breakfast. I would not recommend this property at all.

The room was nice. The in-room fridge, microwave, and iron/ironing board were a great convenience. The free breakfast was freshly made waffles along with cereal and bagles, and a few other items, which was awesome! The only issue I had with the hotel was the bed- it was so hard, it felt like I was sleeping on the floor.

The carpets are disgusting

most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept on. poorly working air conditioner , and an unpleasant odor. we checked out early and went through the hassle of locating another hotel.

Friendly staff and clean hotel. We would stay here again.

Staqff was friendly rooms were spacious with a microwave (700wt) and a dorm size refridgerator. floors look like they have not been cleaned ever so wear sock or shoes. A/C was horrible (it shuts off ever hour so all night long you are waking up to turn it back on) if anyone walked by while smoking the smell would be sucked in due to it being a hole in the wall. DO NOT LOOK AT MATTRESS! We made that mistake after the sheets had been pulled loose. YIKES! Breakfast was nice. Waffles were very tasty. Variety of muffins, pastries, cereal, toast bagels anf juices. Plus it was nicely located near the ice machine. Location was near the freeway, McDonalds across the street), pancake resturant (in the parking lot), laundry-o-mat, car wash (both across the side street). BUT the neighborhood is a little rougher. Parking lot is tight and is also used by people catching the bus so spots are limited.

We had problems with the keys not opening the door. The Iron did not work and the safety latch on the door was broken. They did give us a new room where we had better luck.

This was a terrible experience, from the moment we walked in and had very little assistance from the front desk clerk. I booked 2 rooms and put the second room under a friends name, well i was not aware that both rooms wouldnt be connected to my name since i had paid for both rooms on the same card and instead of simply asking me if i put it under anyone elses name, the clerks only response was "call expedia" and when i asked why she thought this was happening she said "i dont know, call expedia". so i called hotels.com and they politly explained it to me. we get to our rooms and one of them is not ready. we get moved. then ask if we could have conjoining rooms they respond with "your next to eachother, no you cant move rooms". one of the toilets had issues and we told them on our way out, when we returned 8 hours later they still had not fixed it. then we ask about getting a late checkout and they said "no" mind you this was a monday and im sure they were booked up to the point they couldnt give me the extra hour before our long drive home. 3 of our four beds between the 2 roooms were absolutly terribe and one room didnt have a working air conditioner. All and all this was the worst stay ive ever had. and will never stay in any best western again. oh and one last thing they also have crack heads running around knocking on doors and running off, not sure if they even have any kind of security. DO NOT STAY THERE

Everything was good and nice the only thong I have to say that is bad is when I was trying to check in the front desk was empty the check in person was not at the front desk I stood there for 10 min waiting to check in. And when she did return she made me wait even longer so she can give an check in the people she was giving a tour to. So my 10 min wait turned into a 20 min wait. Plus I had to wait till the people talked it over and made sure they wanted to stay there. :( booooo for that

Our non-smoking room definately smelled like smoke. The carpets were so dirty that I dare not walk around without socks or slippers on my feet. Shower curtain was broken and shower sprayed water all over the bathroom. We did get a very good rate for this hotel, but I don't think I'll ever stay here again.

No hot water for bathing

We booked this hotel for a softball tournament in Chula Vista and if there was anyway I could have left and booked somewhere else I would have but it was Memorial Day and there wasn't any available motels/hotels. It was dirty, old, alot of homeless people surrounding the entire hotel. I would never suggest this to anyone. We found a hotel the following day and left as soon as I could get packed.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!! Bad neighborhood!!!!!!!!! Hotel is clearly a much older hotel. It was more cheap, live in motel than hotel. Take a pass ... even at a cheap rate, it's soooooooo not worth it!!!!!!!!! Tv, phone, and A/C didn't work in our room. Shower was pealing. Beds were like sleeping on plywood.

Rooms are subpar. Facility is below average.

I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. The continental breakfast had a wide selection of choices and was nice. This is a perferct hotel for those budget minded people.The room was basic but very clean I was able to stay there for two weeks at the same cost of a 3 or 4 day stay at a Hilton. I've already made another reservation!!!!

This hotel is alright... for the price you pay.. you get what you get :) The front desk lady is very nice and very helpful... Can't complain ... I would go here if I needed to again.

First room didn't have fan/airconditioner that worked, so was moved to another room promptly. Overall condition of rooms clean but need updating. Quality of mattresses poor, not a comfortable sleep. Housekeeping was done in phases, towels picked up while we were out for breakfast, bed not made. Bed made while we were out for lunch, towels not replaced, had to get them from the front desk. Breakfast area had strong odor of pinesol/cleaner in area.

The room was in okay condition. Free breakfast was great.

This hotel was pretty old and not kept up. My room had a spider, spider web, and 4 moths in it. The sheets were stained and I had to ask for new ones, which apparently was their last set. The room reeked of smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room, and the alarm went off at 12am! There was also NO water pressure when taking a shower. The faucet had more water pressure. I had to call maintenance to "fix" the problem, which did not help much, because the faucet ended up leaking all night. The bathtub was very old and the paint was peeling. Even if it may have been cleaned, it did not look like it was. I've stayed in several hotels and at a few Best Westerns. I have never been so disappointed. I will never go back. Ever!
