We were worried about train noise being so close to the tracks and upon check in asked for a room away from the tracks only to be told of course that it would be extra charge. We were then assured that the windows were 'sound proof'... Apparently the staff have not spent a night in one of their rooms - it's ok during the day with other ambient noise around, the trains kind of blend into the background... But at night in the quiet - they sound like they are running over your head! Window not sound proof (or thin walls)! But honestly, I could have forgiven the train noise due to being close to the station - but in the end, train noise was not the biggest noise issue! We stayed on level 4 and had floating floorboards, as did we found out our upstairs neighbors... Whenever they moved anything across the floor, which they did regularly, we were blessed with an almighty screetch - early morning, and very late at night. Then there was the sound of a 500 meter high waterfall every time the upstairs neighbour, or either side neighbors had a shower... Not to mention all of noise from the foyer, you could hear everything - people entering and exiting their rooms, footsteps, people using the stairs, room service banging about!! It was awful. I've never experienced a room with such bad sound issues. It's a shame because other than sound, it was a lovely room. But avoid if you like a nice sleep.

We stay for one night as part of return journey from Easter holiday. Staff were helpful and keen to help in any way. Sudly we have to leve early in the morning so did not have chance to have breakfast.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent service.

The hotel was really nice, the personnel very polite and informative!

It's easy to find the hotel from Salzburg Bahnhof, and the congress and Mirabell Palace are nearby. But the price is a little high if comparing with other hotels, and floor cleanness is bad in the room, it can't be a 4-star hotel from it's overall condition.

Excellently sited hotel. Walking distancto staion and old town, Direct bus to Salzburg Airport and Arena. Very comfortable, will definately stay there next time we're in Salzburg.

great room, very clean and friendly staff. Has its own restaurant and serves a great breakfast. If you didn't book the room with breakfast it can get quite expensive ($15.00/person) and parking is pretty bad in the area. If you use the small parking lot the hotel keeps nearby, it will cost you another $14.00 per day. Location is convenient, right next to the train station with public transportation almost around the corner.

excellent hotel attached to an excellent bar. Great location between railway station and the old town. If you are thinking of coming to Salzburg - stay here!

Not enough room to put two suitcases , one had to be out above the cupboard, comfortable beds easy walk from train station and walk to the old town. Breakfast wasnt included in our rate , good breakfast across road at coffee to go. Convenient, one of cheaper hotels

Great hotel in convienient location, 5 minutes from main railway station and 15 minutes to the city center through beatiful Mirabel gardens. Excellent service, clean and large rooms. Good restaurant on the first floor.

Hotel is located close to train station, a plus for those traveling by train. It was clean and comfortable. The restaurant located in the hotel was excellent. Would recommend the hotel and restaurant.

best way to get to hotel is by taxi, which was reasonable. Train station is 10 minutes walking distance to hotel. Grocery stores and shopping is easy walking. visiting th sights are walking distance. Staff at hotel are tourist trained and able to answer all tourist questions. They hve a very nice toruist brochure rck and train schedule availbale near the front desk.Would recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel is very noisy and the staff steered us in the wrong direction and were downright rude when we needed something.... Would never stay here again.

Hotel conveniently located by the train station and not far from the city centre,however that means railways are close to the hotel so you need good earplugs or you'll learn whole timetable of night trains by heart after two days of staying there.Also it is high time to think about refurbishment cause carpets,walls and bathroom call for it.

This hotel sits on the bahnhof and is very noisy, when we asked to change to a quieter room, the front desk clerk said " it's a city after all". Good thing we brought ear plugs. Otherwise, the room was okay. At check out, when we were rushing out the door to catch our train, apparently, our prepaid room that included tax did not cover the "Salzburg tax". This 4.1 euro charge would not have been big a deal if they told us about it at check in but when in a hurry, this is not what you want to deal with. Furthermore, the room clerk refused to allow us to put it on our Mastercard then when given cash, protested giving us a receipt for it, stating "it is only 4.1 euros". The feeling we got is that these people don't like or respect tourists.

Second time we've stayed here. Rooms are big enough, just, and are spotless clean but are just starting to show there age with wear and tear. Breakfast was standard fair with ham cheese a couple of hot things etc but very fresh. One incident of a waiter standing infront of one of our party halfway through breakfast and insisting he pay for breakfast there and then infront of everyone rather than put it on his room like we all did embarrassed us and sourered our stay however. Its around 10 minutes walk out of the old town one direction and 10 minutes from the trainstation the other. Airport bus stop is outside reception. Can walk around at night safely and the pitter keller is on the next street which is excellent.

Very comfortable and nice room. They had tea/coffee bags and sugars in the room, but no kettle. Checked with the reception, but they didn't have kettles there either, which was a disappointment.

Very small, worn room, dirty carpet with holes in it, bath towels & linens appeared to be clean however didn't smell fresh. Room not cleaned well before check-in. Hair in tub, dirty shower curtain, dirty mirror, water on bathroom floor, could go on & on. 3 of 6 light bulbs burned out, went to front desk they only had 1 bulb & we had to put it in ourselves. Remote control didn't work, springs coming through roll a way bed, view of metal roof in rear of building. Talked to the manager about the dirty room, she said, oh you want a deep clean? I would think in between guests they would do a deep clean. Should have not expected much because when we got off the elevator to go to our room, dirty sheets & towels were piled on the floor next to the elevator & were piled very high. This should have been our first clue. I guess I can't complain though, this is the only hotel I would not recommend out of the 9 others I stayed in during my European trip. If you do decide to stay here request that you don't get room #29. With the exception of the manager the staff was very nice & apologetic.

Nice hotel, conveniently located but twin beds in a small room.

The hotel was in a nice location. We got the last two rooms available for the nights we stayed. The rooms were extremely small but clean and comfortable. The restaurant was nice but semi pricey. We were there at the height of the tourist season, so I guess we probably got the only rooms left at the hotel. Hotel personnel were very nice and we were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to see. Overall OK

Hotel was good. Staff especially the manager was very helpful with regard to an early check in. Location excellent. Free wi-fi. Drawbacks - old decor, no in room safe. Overall a nice basic hotel.

WOW i cannot say enough great things about the staff at this hotel, they were so friendly and so helpful. they were very knowledgeable and helped us with all of us a questions. The room was a little outdated and the AC didnt work that great and neither did the tv but the room was clean and beds were comfortable. the location is perfect you are about a 15/20 min walk outside of old town and only a 3min walk to the bus station. The public transport in Salzburg was amazing for such a small town. We were very happy with our stay and would definately reccommend this hotel and will be back again!

just 7-8 mins walk from trained station, and next to the bus stop when return from city center. One thing to point out they will change Eur 1.10 per person and night, that means we have to pay more EUR 4.4 when check out for 2 peoples stay 2 nights.

The quality of service was great. Staff are very informative and polite. The hotel location is also very perfect, only 5 min walking distance away from either the main train station or the Mirabell Garden. the bus stop is just at the front door, which is very convenient for tourists. However, because it is too close to the railways, during the night it feels a little bit noisy. The room is also quite small and less decorated.

I had an enjoyable stay overall and would recommend. The room was a little warm and the A/C just barely blew out any air, thankfully the weather wasn't too hot. With the window open we were able to hear the train nearby regularly which was mildly annoying. Other than that, a very pleasant stay at a nice hotel.

Everything was good. Breakfast was not included. Otherwise the stay was pleasant.

Saizberg as always if great but there were too many tourists in old town making walking almost difficult. The concerts and the marionette theater were great. Austria was having a heat wave and our airconditioner was anemic at best making the room very unconfortable. Room otherwise good but we were jpayinfg for three of us and we got a cot added to a double room.

Good location, close to public transportation, minutes from tourist sights, Staff were very helpful. spoke english, resturant in hotel. Parking was limited, breakfast was not incl;uded and was pricey

About a 5-10 min walk from the train station and 20 min walk to city centre. Rooms are average in condition.

I liked this hotel very much. The adjoining restaurant is good, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel is within walking distance from the main railroad station, but the neighborhood is somewhat bleak.

The location is very convenient about 10 minutes away from Mirabell garden and 7 minutes from Munich main train station. I strongly recommend the breakfast buffet (10 euros per person). The jams are very good. Of course, the Sound of music tour is highly recommended. The staff are very friendly and helpful and all speak English. My only complaint is the air conditioning system in the room...even if you follow the hotel's instruction on how to use it, it's not cold enough.

Great location near train station and bus line into old Salzburg. Room rate was very good but room was facing railroad tracks. Thankfully, the windows kept the noise out. In the attached restaurnt, the smell of smoke was present from the special smoking bar, although the local Stiegl brew was quite tasty. The hotel internet computer uses a very slow service provider which limited our ability to check emails while on the road.

We enjoyed the stay at Salzberg. Lots of sites to visit. cable car experience was superb, unforgetable.

not really a four-star hotel, very small room, and not very comfortable beds. Close to train trail, but not really noisy. The staff are not helpful. The TV in our room has no sound at all, so we called the front desk. The lady at the front desk basically told me that since it is Easter time, there is no one at the hotel who can fix TVs, so there is nothing she can do about it. Will not stay there again.
