Nothing to fault. A very comfortable hotel situated at the very heart of the city, close to many of the city's historic sights. Our room was comfortable and the staff always helpful. Great value for money.

Good value for a nice room downtown, reasonably close to museums etc. Clean and in good condition, good breakfast, very nice rooftop lounge (drinks only, no meals.) Everything worked well including internet.

This was a five star stay in every respect, Edwardo and Javier were the best for advice and answers to any question their help was a major factor in making our trip and car rental and hotel stay among the best.

Beyond my expectations. The bar is really a lovely lobby, with seating on a terrace with terrific city views and an interior that is very beautiful. It's sort of a lobby in the sky, minus the distractions of people checking in and out. Also, the breakfast is delicious, served until 11:00 a.m.; can easily take the place of lunch.

This hotel was in a great location. It was a short walk to Plaza Mejor, Plaza Sol, and plaza Espana. The rooms were small by USA standards but it was clean. The staff was very helpful and nice!

My husband and I stayed here about 18 years ago, so when I returned to Madrid with my friend this is where I went. I was not disappointed. The surrounding area is a bit hectic, but the hotel was well located. The location of the hotel is most important to me in terms of proximity to museums and restaurants. it is good value, and the breakfast buffet was well worth the price we paid. When we could not get a reservation at the restaurant of our choice, the Hotel concierge made an excellent recommendation to a nearby restaurant that was quite nice. I recommend.

My husband and I just returned from two weeks in Spain for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We planned to spend the first week in Madrid and after reading hotel reviews online we choose to book the Hotel Atlantico. I can't tell you how impressed we were with this hotel! The staff was friendly and helpful and our room was clean, comfortable and beautiful. The hotel structure itself is a work of art in a city full of beautiful buildings. If we ever return to Madrid we will definately be staying at the Hotel Atlantico. We both HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!

Once you walk into the room and get over the ugly yellow bedspreads, you begin to notice the attention to detail and thought that has gone into your room. The bathroom amenities are the BEST that I have seen--toothbrush, razor, soaps etc--in case you have forgotten anything. The electric shutters close and even though it is in the middle of all the action, it is super quiet. Beautiful rooftop dining area and balcony. For the price in this area, I don't think you can beat this hotel.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, lovely room with faboulous bath and shower. Love the 9th floor business center with the terrace. Above all very clean. Will stay here again when I return to Madrid.

central location, super staff, room smallish but has most things, room really hot/stuffy and a/c switched off during non summer months, bar lacks life as does barman!

If going to Madrid again, I'd happily stay at the Hotel Atlantico. It's a very good location - being pretty much in the centre of the main areas most tourists would want to visit. Madrid is a relatively small city and the key sights are all within 10-15 minutes walk from Hotel Atlantico. As with many cities in this area, take care of valuables - there are plenty of pickpockets - but that's true of other cities as well as Madrid.

Elegant hotel but room was fully modernised and very 21 st century comfort level. A really high end standard of comfort right on the doorstep of central Madrid .

The decor is a bit feminine and chintzy for my taste. But apart from that I can't fault the place.

Four of us booked at the same time and our rooms varied considerably. Make sure you get one overlooking the Gran Via, make sure it's a double, and ask for a balcony.

I have never stayed in a cleaner hotel. It was impecable. Highly recommended. A/C was not great but did not take from the stay. Very Central location. Close to many sites of interest.

Apart from the fact that this hotel lacks any real sitting room, it is an excellent choice in Madrid. Moreover, the breakfasts, although not included in the price of the rooms, are well priced and of excellent quality.

After researching more hotels than I care to mention for my trip to Spain last week (Feb. 15-20, 2012), I came across the Hotel Atlantico. After reading the reviews, I decided this hotel was going to be the winner and oh was it!! The Hotel Atlantico is located on the Gran Via between two Metro stops ("Gran Via" and "Callao" - only minutes away walking) that will take you anywhere your heart desires in the city. The Gran Via is a great street full of shops, places to eat and only a short 10 minute walk to the Puerto del Sol or the Plaza Major from the hotel. (If you're planning on traveling by the Metro (which I highly suggest because it's efficient and FUN!), you can go down into the "Gran Via" station or the "Callao" station and use the electronic kiosks to purchase Metro tickets.) The hotel front desk staff were amazing and full of suggestions for places to see and restaurants to go to. They also speak impeccable English if you're a bit rusty on your Spanish. If you arrive early (before noon), go ahead and check-in but don't count on your room being ready (as check-out is noon). In my case, my room wasn't ready yet so I left my bags with the front desk staff (they will give you a numbered card so you can claim your luggage when you return) and took off to explore the city. When I returned, my room was ready and I couldn't have been more pleased. The room was large by American standards with two twin beds, night tables on both sides, a small sitting area, a full-size bathroom including a double sink, and a flat screen TV. (Quick note, when you walk in the room, you must place your room key into the slot above the light switch just inside the door. This will allow you to turn on the lights.) The room also had a stocked bar with a small fridge. On the 9th floor is a great little hotel bar along with the business center that has free internet service along with copiers (great for printing your boarding pass for your return trip home). This hotel is a bargain. It is beautiful, well maintained, in a superb location and the staff were very helpful. I will stay at this hotel again.

Great hotel very close to all we needed in Madrid,metro,dining shopping sightseeing etc.

The hotel has the grandeur of an old hotel, but with totally modern rooms and services. The staff were most helpful and professional. Tour buses and shops are steps away. We stayed 4 nights and were completely satisfied.

We stayed an entire week at this hotel right in the heart of old Madrid on the Gran Via. Everything you want to see and visit is in walking distance. The hotel is very well maintained; the staff was excellent and well-informed; the breakfast service was plentiful and managed well; our room was perfectly arranged and large, as well as being in a fantastic old building. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Atlantico.

This is in a great part of town on the Gran Via. It's right by Callao subway stop, so no need to spend time getting lost trying to figure out where the hotel is. It's clean, safe, and friendly. Highly recommended for your stay in Madrid! Easy enough to sort out the subway on your own from the airport to the hotel - you change twice, but they are quick stops.

I booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviewers. I was in a single room and it was plenty big for one person. The bathroom was a combination tub/shower. Good light. Javier, who works at the front desk (and I suspect is a manager at the hotel) was incredibly helpful. He did a little research online and marked the route for me on a map to the nearest Citibank. He also helped with where to go to get a phone and other inquiries. The top floor terrace and public rooms are a great place to spend some time. All in all, I could not have been more pleased! I intend to make a return visit soon!

Loved this hotel. The front desk staff were prompt, attentive and courteous. The hotel, both inside and out, was really top-notch. I don't have one complaint about this hotel. It was EXTREMELY clean and state-of-the art. We had comfortable beds and clean linens. Nice tv's with english channels. Nice furnishings. The bathroom was large and had a great shower and their was even a radio in the bathroom. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel experience in Madrid.

We stayed at the Atlantico for 4 nights and added a very late checkout on the 5th day. The hotel's location is right in the middle of town, walking distance from the museums, the royal palace and right by a metro station. The superior room was sized as a usual room in the US, but quite spacious in European standards. No street noises can be heard in the room. The hotel's team assisted with directions and recommendations.

This hotel is very nice and comfortable. Not too over the top fancy, just right. The location is near ALL the major sites and activities. I didn't even have to take the metro to anything. The rooms are very clean and the cleaning staff makes sure they are very clean throughout the entire stay. The location is convenient, but I couldn't find any reasonably priced restaurants around there. The restaurants are good, just expensive.

Very happy with hotel. Arrived at 11.30am and were checked in to 2 out of 3 rooms within 10 mins. 3rd room available after 1/2 hour. This is our third year to take a city break and the first time we got availability to rooms prior to 3.00 pm. Reception staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. The rooms were very spacious, clean and very comfortable and the bathrooms very clean and big. Check out very professional with a room to leave luggage. Only issue I had was with breakfast. The hot plate was limited and not very warm. Cold plate, juices, & cereals good. Toaster a disaster!! Very convenient to the old town and tourist bus tours. Would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

There were six people in our party and all of us would definitely make a return visit to this hotel. The staff, particularly at reception, were extremely helpful and friendly. It's location is v central - within walking distance of most of the main attractions.

Very central Hotel, across the road from Callia metro station. 5 to 10 minute walk from Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. The tour bus stops 50 metres from the hotel. The hotel offers free wireless WIFI on floors 4,5,6 & 7. On the ninth floor you can enjoy a free coffee or pay for other refreshments or snack. Breakfast is served on the first floor and costs 9 euros, the is plenty to chose from.

good location, close to Metro spots, good buffet breakfast, room recently rehabbed

I stayed here for two weeks because I had prepaid via Hotels.com after reading their reviews and those on Tripadvisor which rated the hotel very highly. My experience was not good. After 30 hours of travel, I arrived mid-day to be told I had to wait for my room (while others got keys right away). The first room I had was 514, which is one of the worst in the hotel.When I asked immediately to move, I was told there were no other rooms (despite overhearing other arrivals being offered a choice). I was also told by the front desk staff I shouldn't complain because I should have booked a double if I didn't want that room. The first room was a tiny room with one window looking on to the airshaft/courtyard, so it was very dark and claustrophobic. During the day the sound of the water from the fountain was very loud - in the early morning, noise from the showers/toilets in adjacent rooms made the room sound like the bottom of an ocean, and because it was close to the elevators, this caused noise as well. The next day I was moved - down the hall. This room was slightly bigger and had a window on the street. However, that day renovation started on a room three down from my new room. The walls are so thin that the vibration and noise literally shook the bed in my room. When I complained, I was told they were 'just putting up a new mirror' and that it would be finished that day (Monday). In fact, the noisy construction went on for the whole week, making it impossible to sleep or work in the room. In addition, that side of the building has a lot of people at all hours so there is noise, talking, etc. especially on the weekends. When I asked to be moved, I was again told it was too busy, but I could move the next Sunday. I was patient. On Saturday, I asked again - but was again treated negatively by the front desk staff, who refused to acknowledge that my stay had not been ideal to that time (despite being a Best Western member, and having booked a long stay at the hotel). Great location, relatively close to La Puerta del Sol. Grand Via and Callao Metro stations are just a few yards away. The hotel is very clean and the staff was always ready to help! Would definitely recommend it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Atlantico (6 nights, October, 2011). Service was great, room was clean and spacious. Nice breakfast. Shuttle bus to the airport was a plus. The location is very convenient. The only caution I would mention is that we noticed lots of prostitutes (both on the Grand Via and along Calle Montera). This is clearly not a shortcoming of the hotel, but I thought I would mention it. I would recommend the Hotel Atlantico without reservation.
