BEST WESTERN CLIFTON HOTEL - فولكيستون

Despite being a dark and dismal late November evening. the hotel was easy to find, about 10 minutes walk from the railway station. I arrived at the hotel, at 22:10, three hours late, due to signalling problems on the railway. I was greeted at the reception desk with sincere concern about the lateness of my arrival. At both check-in and check-out the hotel clerk was friendly and efficient. Whilst tidy and clean, both the hotel and the room I was allocated, in their old-fashioned way, were a delight. I felt like a character in a late 1940s British movie. My single, en-suite room (230) was squirrelled away on the second floor. I made myself a hot-drink, and while running a bath, checked my e-mail using the hotel's free wifi (not so 1940s). The night was very peaceful, and I woke in the morning to find the room overlooked a large private gardens. I did not have breakfast. The rate I paid was good, and represented good value for money. I should happily return.

Comfortable, well-appointed room. Staff friendly. Did not eat at hotel so cannot judge the food. Would stay there again for a short break.

The hotel was a charming, quirkey, English hotel in a great location!

Staff very helpful breakfast was very good but slightly expensive decor was good tidy and clean but needs to be updated all round.

The only problem with this hotel is the lack of parking facilities. I arrived late and had to park on a meter 500 yards away and therefore get up at 8 am to move it.

Hotel was fine for overnight stay, not a huge room but comfortable enough. Windows opened which I love and we had sea view. Old hotel but quite comfortable.

The Clifton Hotel was a lovely place to stay. Located right on the Leas and convenient for the centre of town, it immediately felt like a relaxing place in which to spend time. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the room was confortable and spacious (at least by European standards), with exceptionally comfortable beds. The hotel itself is charmingly like a rabbit warren in the layout of the corridors, but there are lifts and signs everywhere, so I didn't find this a problem. When we arrived for our one-night stay on the Sunday, there was a musician playing the piano in the restaurant which created a nice atomosphere. I thought this was a lovely place to stay.

I took my Mum here for two days and we had a really lovely time. Our standard room was excellent value with very nice decor in shades of honey and cream. Other rooms were similarly well decorated in soft greens or blues. Beds great - although I prefer a duvet to the traditional white sheets and blankets that we had. Bathroom very clean with good shower and bath. We had the full English breakfast which offered a wide selection. It was beautifully cooked and bacon was good quality. The staff were prompt ,helpful , friendly and professional. We were in one of the rooms furthest from the sea but we still had a good view of the Leas and the sea. It was so restful lying in bed looking at the sea. You could ask for a room on the west or garden side if you want to avoid noise from the restaurant/bar to the east : however it didn't bother us. It is in the stylish end of town in a good location and convenient for the shopping center, the beach, the splendid Victorian Lift down the cliff, the concert hall and theatre of The Leas Cliff Hall and the Leas - which now has beautiful walks at the base of the cliff too. We also enjoyed inexpensive and special home cooked meals out at The Pullman pub in the town ( yummy chicken breast stuffed with walnuts and stilton) and also at the Pappas fish restaurant close by in Sandgate road. We were there for the Folkestone Triennial and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the art throughout the town and visiting the creative quarter. The very moving piece by Mark Wallanger is on the Leas right outside the hotel and I understand will be on permanent display there now.

I was there with my boyfriend first time, and I really liked :), hotel very comfortable, and close to stations and bus stops, our room was very clean, and staff was very kind and friendly, we was enjoyed! Thanks for everything :)

very nice older style hotel with the nice touches left in and very convenient for the beach and the eurotunnel. A nice family stay.

We stayed one night. The room was clean, bed comfortable, en-suite facilities good. Our room faced onto a park, so had a very pleasant view. The hotel was quiet, no noise could be heard from other rooms. The hotel is a bit "well-worn". We didnot have the breakfast, so cannot comment on that. We were very fortunate re. parking: the hotel has a very very small car park, that can accomodate 4 cars before being blocked in, but we were offered on-street parking right outside by the one of the receptionsists who moved his car. If we did not get this assistance parking would have been very problematical.

Nice classic hotel. Probably build in the early 1900's. As we came in January, we were just one of the few guests. Check in was okay, friendly and helpfull. The lift to the second floor is quite small, but at least there is a lift. Room was big enough, clean, nice flat screen TV, bathroom was a bit outdated, clean and functional. Very friendly manager who prepared the full Engish breakfast himself. Price/quality is good. If we would have been there in Spring or Summer, our stay would have been even nicer,

hotel un peu vieillot, le parquet craque, du lino dans la salle de bain pour cacher la misere et les fenetres pas étanches, inconvenient surtout en bord de mer !!!Bon restaurant et bon service
