EXCELLENT SERVICE FRIENDLY STAFF WELL LOCATED WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN , LITTLE DATED BUT SERVICE MORE THAN MADE UP THE DIFFERENCE

We were in Cancun for just 2-days as part of our vacation in southern Mexico. The room was average, no complaints. The beach was perfect, especially since the hotels/sites on either side were under construction or not functioning so there was a huge area of beach with very few people. It is along the typical Cancun hotel line, near to malls and food. We just sat by the beach and swam for most of the time, so it was great for us.

Great location, perfect for couples who don't want to be near lots of screaming kid or partying spring breakers. Good value for what you get, nice sized room and bathroom, nice uncrowded beach. Shower got stopped up quite a bit, but room was clean otherwise. I didn't mind the stairs, but the hotel worker who helped me with my bags certainly earned his tip!

We were treated like royalty & the staff is amazing especially the Captain & Juan

This charming older hotel was a breath of fresh air amid the ostentatious glitz of many Cancun establishments. We were able to get a family room that accomodated our family of five (including three tall teenaged boys), and looked out onto a beautiful beach and a lovely pool as well. The vibrant color scheme and beautiful Mexican tile throughout the place are enchanting. Dinner service was a bit slow and expensive, but the food was tasty. The small taco stand just in front of the hotel offered a delicious and extrememely economical alternative.

Very nice. Charming, quaint hotel - not like the huge monstrosities up and down the beach. Not far from the airport, right on the bus route (which is very economical-good way to go). Staff was very accomodating and eager to please. Restaurant on site was excellent and provided indoor or patio dining overlooking the ocean.

We were equally :at home in two very spacious 1-bedroom suites overlooking a beautiful beach while also immersed in the historic architecture of this place. It was a true joy to stay in one of the earliest hotels to be built in the hotel zone. The food and service here is excellent. The rooms are clean and quiet. It's also an added pleasure to stay in a smaller hotel with great, personalized service where you can get to know the staff and they can get to know you. This is an ideal place for couples and families - quiet and laid back, yet conveniently located within the Hotel Zone. The Flamingo mall is right across the street. The experience is truly unique. The balconies are huge and are a great place to watch the sunrise or to soak in the hot tub after a long day. Using the kitchen in the suite, our daughter cooked a delicious breakfast with groceries we bought at the market. The facility does show its age in some areas, which could use some updating. In fact, some areas were being painted while we were there. Hot water can be a little tricky. We had two rooms and the hot/cold in the showers were plumbed opposite. So, if you think you don't have hot water, try the other knob. Also, you need to be patient - leave it on for maybe a few minutes and not just 30 seconds. But, I would take the character of this place over any of the ultra-modern resorts in which you would feel like you never left the US. If you are the type who would not be happy unless every square inch of the place appeared as if it were brand-new, and if you feel as if it would be a great compromise to live without an elevator for a few days, then, please, stay somewhere else because you would not appreciate this gem.

The suite was comfortable, had the best view to the beach, the service was courteous and prompt, the manager was ever present and amiable.

My 2yr old son and I stayed this past weekend with the lovely staff at Avalon. The hotel was spotless, warm, and family friendly. To my surprise as an Italian, the food was fantastic and the prices exceptional. It is my pleasure to recommend this hotel for families, singles, or couples.

We had stayed in the Mayan, but never Cancun so booked 2 nights in the Honeymoon suite - very spacious and large and very clean. Bed was great. Amazing view of beach and also of downtown. (Great Sunset and sunrise). Well situated across from shopping mall. Less than 1 Km to 2nd larger mall and 2 km other direction to central Hotel Zone area. Jacuzzi took a long time to fill and we couldn't get the jets to work, but was nice to soak under the stars with surf crashing below. Had a kitchenette with fridge, toaster, mic and stove top but no dishes. No elevator to 4th floor, but the exercise was great. Free wifi in the lobby for guests. Older hotel, but staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a borderline 4* place in my opinion, and has the advantage of being smaller and more intimate, with access to all of the other services at their sister hotel. Big room, immaculate, perfect provate beach and pool with swim up bar. Excellent value for money.

Overall, the look and feel of the hotel is pretty decent (average about 3 stars) but do not, I repeat, do not stay at the 'Standard Room'. They are are done up in cheap taste and are rather depressing. The only rooms worth staying at are the Ocean Facing ones (which we upgraded to the next day)... they come with a nice kitchennette, dining and sitting area and a huge terrace overlooking the blue waters of Mexico. Unfortunately, the service was quite a bummer - the swim up bar was empty (not even a bartender there), the food was disappointing, there were no waiters to take your order at the beach.... any additional services such as the spa required you to go to the sister hotel (Avalon Grand)... The only saving grace was the front desk staff - they were quite helpful in providing recommendations on restauarants and things to do nearby etc... I probably would not stay there again - I guess Cancun is one place where its better to stay in a all-inclusive hotel but for those with leaner pockets, its a decent bargain!

this is a very unique place to the Cancun area. you really get the feeling of an old Mexican hacienda ! after a couple of days, i never really did get used to layout. i always had to think about where the room was. our room had a jacuzzi tub overlooking flamingo plaza. yes there are stairs, but you are going to need the exercise..... right at the base of this hotel is the tripadvisor number 2 restaurant, Habaneros taco place, and right across the street is the tripadvisor number 10 place "La Panza Es Primero" (the panch is back). both places are excellent (ate at both several times). dont try to decide between the two. just eat at both. so pack an extra stomach - you will need it.

When I go again, Im statying there again. 27 rooms only. Across the street you the small mall with ease of access to everything, you are walking distance to the main malls.. The place is one of the first built in Cancun, but weel kept and the people are very helpful and courteous..

This Hotel totally exceeded our expectations. I fell in love with the Moroccan theme. The only downside (not really tho) is that the water takes a little long to heat up in the shower. But other than that. I recomend this place if you are looking for a cozy, quiet, cute, hotel.

I am so happy I selected this hotel for my last two days in Cancun. Location is fantastic, staff is very accommodating and friendly, food and drink excellent, AND.... it is so "Mexicano"! You actually feel like you are in Mexico; unlike so many high rises with marble floors and modern furnishings... We were at the Grand Mayan in Playa del Carmen for a time share week and I actually called the Avalon to see if they could accommodate me one day earlier for an extra night. Humberto, the manager, was able to get me the same room as my reservation, discounted rate, AND....we were able to check in at 10:00 in the morning!! LOVE THIS PLACE and WILL DEFINITELY RETURN AND RECOMMEND!!

We were so happy with this hotel. Our room was spectacular (Honeymoon Suite). I was so happy that we chose to stay at this small hotel rather than at the monstrosities nearby. Our experience was cozy and personal. This hotel offered everything that we needed. I recommend renting a scooter for getting around town. The traffic was reasonable and it was easy to find parking.

Unpleasant stay with rude staff. Many other hotels in this area that I would rather stay at.

Pros: -Location: close to convenience stores and restaurants. However, it does make it kind of loud. If you want more of a relaxing atmosphere, this might not be the best place to stay. -Easy beach access -Free parking (however, I realized most hotels in this area offer this...even 4/5 star hotels) Cons: -Staff at front desk is rude. I almost felt like I was doing them a favor by staying here. -Internet didn't work, so I asked them about it (politely), but was given short answers. I picked this hotel b/c it stated wireless access from hotel lobby. DON'T expect this. -Hard beds and pillows. Mattresses were mounted on concrete beds! I ended up staying at the Marriott Casa Magna for the rest of my stay (for a cheaper price!) and it was much more pleasant (clean, comfortable, good water pressure, nice staff, etc). So in comparing my two experiences in Cancun, I highly DO NOT recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The service was great, wonderful atmosphere, and comfortable bed. We got the "honeymoon suite" and absolutely loved the room with the two balconies. I usually avoid Cancun, but I had such a pleasant experience that we will definitely spend two or three nights here again when we are back in the Yucatan. The restaurant is pricey but the food is delicious.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the stay! What a cozy, darling hotel! You honestly can't beat this place! Great room, great friendly staff, clean to the max and safe hotel! Plus they don't nickle and dime you the whole time. No charge for beach chairs, umbrellas or those cozy beach beds. On my next trip to Cancun I will for sure be staying here! You can't beat the location (right on the beach, right by the bus stops, tons of places to eat and shop within walking distance) While you are here for SURE treat yourself to the taco shop underneath the hotel. Delicious tacos for 10 pesos. And be sure to eat at the restraunt across the street called La Panza es Primero. They had this amazing cilantro chicken and the BEST chips I have ever had. STAY AT THIS HOTEL, you will be so glad you did!

We could not of been happier with our greeting at the front desk, or with our room & the staff. We would recommend this hotel to Prince William & Kate because the staff makes you feel like royalty.

This hotel is a true gem as it maintains the flavour of Mexico amidst the unimaginative concrete slabs of other hotels on the strip. The Avalon Baccara beach area offers a choice of tanning beds or umbrella lounging chairs as well as bar service. The pool is as beautiful to look at, as it is to cool off in. Of particular note is the hotel's excellent location. Two malls -- and four if you don't mind walking just a bit further -- are a nice destination in the afternoon when the heat and sun are the highest. Restaurants abound nearby or at the malls. In all respects, a lovely hotel.

Hotel Staff was very friendly & helpful. We were even upgraded to an oceanview suite with no extra charge for the 2nd & third nights stay here. Beach in front of hotel was very nice & relaxing. Hotel was very quiet at night-could not hear any neighbors or slamming doors making for peaceful nights sleep. We enjoyed our time here & would choose to stay here again

We only stayed here one night before heading down to Tulum, so my experience with this hotel was limited. That being said, the staff was extremely kind and courteous and the hotel itself was very picturesque. Our room was very nice and the food at the restaurant there was delicious.

This place was quiet and cozy. There are only approx. 30 rooms, so there isn't a lot of people coming and going and making noise. The decor of the hotel is beautiful. Instead of thinking you're in a hotel in Vegas, you actually feel like being in a Mexican paradise. The hotel is next to a mall for shopping, a 24hour convenience store, and a bus stop. The taco stand next door is delicious and VERY cheap. The owner is very friendly. The little taco shop has FREE WIFI! My girlfriend and I literally ate lunch there 5 or 6 times. It's exceptional! The Baccara is perfectly placed a short bus ride from Senior Frogs, the Corona Bar, and other night spots. I'd love to stay at the Baccara again. it is a great value. Note: I'd stay away from the restaurant at the hotel. The food wasn't that great at all. Just head to one of the other hotels to eat.

My friend and I planned a cheap girls' trip to Cancun and booked this hotel based on location and price. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was for the low price! The pool was fantastic and had built-in seats around the edges so we could sun and stay cool. There was even a sort-of grotto area and a swim-up bar. It's a small hotel, so we didn't have to deal with many other guests, which we liked. You can exchange USD for Pesos at the hotel front desk at the exchange rate of 12.80, which is better than at the airport or bank. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. The Avalon Baccara is also tied-in with the Avalon Grand, which is three hotels away. You can use both hotel pools. We went to the Avalon Grand one afternoon to check it out. We got lunch at the bar at a 15% discount since we were staying at the other Avalon. For about $6.50 USD, we got homemade salsa, guacamole (delicious), chips, turkey club, fries, and two bottled waters. We spilt the meal, so it was super cheap for us. The Avalon Grand is more modern, but we preferred the Avalon Baccara because it felt more "authentic" and more personal. With less guests and a small but nice beach just off the pool area, you just can't beat it for the price. I want to go back with my boyfriend in about a month and will definitely stay here again!

Although we had booked the room for three nights, coffee was only provided in the room for one day. When we asked for more coffee at the front desk for the next couple of days they denied our request. There was no refrigerator in the room and our view consisted of a large tree. The room was clean but slightly small.

El hotel tiene una muy buena ubicación, cerca del shopping La Isla y otras atracciones. El servicio del hotel es bueno y se puede desayunar en otro hotel de la cadena cuyo desayuno buffet es excelente.

Une nuit à l'arrivée de l'avion. Accueil sympathique Très belle situation sur la plage. Hôtel à taille humaine par rapport à cancun Très bon petit dejeuner

Vi fik et rigtig god pris på dette hotel og til den pris var hotellet fint. Men ville ikke gide at betale fuld pris. Værelserne var ikke de bedste og lidt gammelt at se på.

Bel hotel, typique pour Cancun. Il change des hôtels standard et sans âme. Il faut prendre de préférence une chambre qui donne sur la mer

Very nice quiet hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Good location /11,5 km/opposite Tacos bar and small market open 24 hours.Try Habaneros and their tacos which is in the next bulding basement. Well known in Cancun Margaritta Ville is located approx. 150 m from the hotel.Bus stop 50 m. Car rental just accross the street. I spent in Baccara Avalon a week in November. I recommend it for singles , couples and families. Sławek /Poland/

ホテルゾーンにある割には価格が手ごろ。 建物はこぢんまりしていますが、部屋は最低限の設備は整っています。 ホテルの裏、プールサイドには軽食もできるバーもあり、そこからすぐビーチに出れます。 カンクン岬から離れてる分、人も少ないのでのんびりできました。 大通りのバスにのれば中心部にもすぐ行けますが、通りの反対側にはショッピングモールもあるので、お土産もそこで購入することができます。 というわけで、ゆっくり過ごすには立地はかなり好条件なのではないでしょうか。 無線LANはロビーのみで、室内までは電波が届きませんでした。
