Northwoods Resort and Conference Center - بيج بير ليك

This hotel has a great location being right next the The Village shopping area in Big Bear. I went during the off-season so it was very quiet and clean. My only real complaint is that I stayed there three nights and maid service never once came to my room to clean. In fairness, I was in my room at times during the day at had the "Do Not Disturb" sign out and if I really wanted them to come I could have called the front desk and asked. However, I would leave my room for hours every day and was just quite surprised to come back each time and find they had not come in to clean up while I was gone. I've never experienced that at a hotel before. It was especially weird considering it was the off-season and they barely had any guests that weekend.

Very pleasant stay & satisfied with room, but pillows were flat & uncomfortable. Really enjoyed fireplace in room & very cozy. Loved the fact you had a restaurant!

The hotel was comfortable. It has a very rustic decor. Kind of a log cabin look and feel. if you like that kind of thing, you would like staying her. It was clean and very comfortable. The price was very reasonable.

Rooms were clean, but needed minor maintenance. Only 1/4 of staff at front desk was polite and helpful. The Food at Stillwells was great, as was the service. Hotel was close to the village. Sauna was broken. Front desk employees need some retraining on customer courtesy, would have rather talked to an automated robot than front desk staff.

When we checked in, the temperature outside was 60 degrees. The heat in the hotel was set at about 85-90. The heat was turned off in our room-yet the room stayed unbearably hot. We asked at front desk several times and were told it would be fine once the sun went down. Neither of us slept all night due to the heat. We complained and the complaints were always ignored. I would never stay there again

We would definitely stay here again. Our son loved the pool and game room after a long day on the mountain, while we enjoyed Stillwells restaurant/bar. Service was excellent and our room was perfectly fine.

This hotel gives me the impression of Grand schemes that didn't quite happen. The Hotel is beautiful on the outside and appears to originally be built to be a 4 or even 5 star resort. However while we were there, the air conditioning was broken , the elevator was broken...chairs in the restaurant had colored tape covering holes in the seats.....The food was amazing, the staff very nice , the rooms clean but again I don't think the seasonal crowd in Big Bear was enough to maintain the initial dream that the hotel had originally intended and it shows in small ways. I would stay there again.

We checked in early and were given an upgrade near the pool. Front Desk girl (sorry, don't remember her name), was very cordial and professional. She also allowed us to have a late check out...I would recommend this property to all my friends.

The hotel is a typical 3 star place, far from being a resort, more like a big 3 star place you can find anywhere in the USA. Cleanliness was sos oas in most 3 star hotels and the place is quite dated. It is ok for a 2 or 3 day stay.However what really makes you not to come back is the lack of attitude and service skills from all employees. You can really feel they could care less. They were not rude, simply not interested. Is like the owner has not visited his hotel in years...

This hotel has many aspects of a typical chain hotel, with a little extra flair. It was very family oriented with raucous games of Marco Polo in the swimming pool into the evening hours. But we are a family so it suited us well. It's one of the few hotels in the area that has it's own restaurant, which is nice for breakfast and room service. Nice staff, in our limited dealings. They were a little slow in doing some needed snow shoveling by the gates and walkways - saw a guy in a wheelchair who had to turn back and seek another route. Room was fine, but a little dark. The entire decor is kinda kitsch with pine needles and antlers everywhere, but that's par for the course at B-level resort town like Big Bear. The location is very convenient, and the well plowed parking lot was great! Overall, a good stay!

Good size room, excellent bed, friendly staff, plenty of hot water. The only unfortunate thing was that I froze during the night, I couldn't get the heater to work.

The room was ok but really hot. The sheets and blanket had hard all over them, pretty gross. The pillows were just big clumpy balls. This hotel needs a remodel and new lines.

Went for a romantic getaway, we arrived exhausted found our room only to have the door open thought because of the cleaning lady. The room looked clean the linens have been used and abused horrible quality. Then when we would leave our room we ALWAYS had a problem with our door not closing it appeared closed and all you had to do was pop it open with your hip. We felt as though we had no valuables in our room so we slammed it shut and left. I would never recommend this place looks nice on the outside but a disaster inside.

Stayed 3 days here, not satisfied. With a $200+ a night, I expected at least a nice temperature controlled room with comfortable bed but didn't get it. I checked out 3 days ago, there is still a $100+ hold charge on my debit card (female up front told me the day I checked out the hold was taken off). I ordered chicken wings and was 4 chicken wings short of 10 (on room service menu it states u get 10 wings), order big Greek salad, only given a tee spoon of dressing, also got their "award winning" chili, it was cold when I got it, way too much white onion, pretty much a basic chili with too much salt and onion. The coffee maker in the room was broken an missing parts.

Everything about the place was great, with the exception of the bed. It wasn't terrible, but not amazing at the same time. Great Location, friendly staff.

Everything was great except for the heating system. It is either on or off. NO thermostat. The end result is that you heat up the room before you go to sleep and the wake up occasionally at night to turn the heat on for a few minutes to reheat the room. Bed was very comfortable. Parking is some distance from the room. Good value.

Nothing is very wrong with the place, but there are too many little things for the place to cost as much as it does. it is too old, uncomfortable bed, no safe in the room, no formal place to store luggage, terrible food in the restaurant, ugly looking rooms, and many other small things. On the bring side, the hotel is well located in the village.

I read several poor reviews about this hotel- uncomfortable beds, run down, etc. They were all correct. The bed skirts were disgustingly dirty, beds were horrible, our rooms heater didn't work (in the winter), the door to the room had a gap in it almost big enough for my son to put his fingers through. Front desk had little interest on how your stay was. My son forgot an item in the hotel. I was told by front desk they have it, but asked to call back three separate times. Probably will never receive our item... I will NEVER stay here again, unless they make some MAJOR changes.

they need to upgrade the bed plllows . and have landry plastic bags in bedroom closet , and need to fix all the Arcade machines that do not work properly ,

Thank you for everything! We were in Big Bear from Los Angeles for a weekend of skiing and just to get out of the city. It was great. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable. Our room was affordable and large, it had a fireplace and large bed and a great rustic lodge feel to it. The resort is also walking distance to Big Bear Village with tons of bars, restaurants and shopping. You can even walk down to the lake. Less than 5 minutes to either Snow Summit or Big Bear Mountain and free parking!! Thanks again. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend. :)

Clean, quiet, good lication

Conveniently located in the village. Nice property. Hot tub all year round outdoors. Have not tried the restaurant yet. Always enjoy my stay here

We were lucky to get the room on a busy New Year Day's weekend. Hotel was nice outside and clean inside. Big parking lot. Close to ski resorts. It was nice to have a gas fireplace in our room. Small room, but was good enough for my family. Only complaint would be very thin walls. Our neighbor in the next room had kids and we could clearly hear the kids running back and forth and screaming. Fortunately, they quieted down before it was time for us to sleep. Thin walls. Again, good for a quick weekend stay for Big Bear trip.

We had a fantastic time. The only thing not really perfect was that the hallways of the hotel were too hot... but then again, we didn't spend time there. The rooms were huge! The bed was comfy and web-access was free. Pool was heated to 85F and the hot tub is really large and a hot 102! After a day on the slopes (which were perfect and without a crowd!) it felt just so good to go in for a soak before bed. - I highly recommend the Northwoods Resort!

My favorite place to stay in Big Bear!

The hotel was nice enough for a quick nights stay. Great location to both snow summit and bear mounatin and also to their Main Street. Nothing special but again good for what we needed

For the most part it was alright.

This hotel was over priced for what you get, no bell hop service , bed where old and wore out and very noisey, room service trays where left out for 6-8 hours before pick up...I will never stay at this hotel again

Mattresses need replacement Both bed caved in the middle! Severely specially after a day of skiing and you want to have a good rest... that don't hapen

The last two times I've stayed here, I've had issues with the night staff. The last time, my girlfriend was asleep & I was watching a movie when someone banged on my door. It was a man dressed in camouflage and he claimed to be security. After calling the desk to verify that he worked there, I opened the door and he verbally attacked me. He said that if I continued to make noise, he would throw my girlfriend and I out of the hotel. He was there for a noise complaint while my girlfriend was asleep in the room! Obviously, he had the wrong room, but I was afraid to be without a hotel so I decided to let it go and not hold it against the hotel. During my most recent visit, I was talking (this time with a friend) in normal voices when there was a banging on the door again. Immediately, he started telling me how he could hear me from down the hall and said that I "need to remember how to act in a hotel". This was embarrassing and I deserve better than to be spoken to like that. I'm an adult, not a party animal so both of these visits were fairly shocking. As it turns out, the noise was coming from next door. I spoke with the guy staying there and he apologized for all the noise. Twice, I've wrongfully had security bang on my door, scare the heck out of my girlfriend, threaten to throw me out, and treat me like a child. I won't be staying there again.

Room was clean, but small. Uncomfortable furniture, fireplace didn't work. The walls are paper thin. Had to listen to neighbors talking from 2:30am till 5:30am. Young man working the desk was not very helpful. The resort looks high end from the outside, but not on the inside. Very dissapointed & won't stay there again.

Hotel clean and from what I saw well maintained. Great location to access village shopping and ski resorts. Two problems. First the beds were both uncomfortable due to the fact that they appeared to be worn out... two deep depressions on each side with high spot in the middle. In my home the mattresses are replaced when they are worn out. The second, minor problem was late maid service 4:20pm. which did not work for me as I had just returned from a day on the slopes. I did tell the Hotel clerk on duty at checkout that I was not at all satisfied with the bed issue and mentioned the maid was only a minor annoyance. His response was "bummer man". I was in hurry so did not involve his manager who probably really needs to retrain this clerk.

Stayed for two nights with my husband and kids. The room was clean and big but the beds were so uncomfortable. Like sleeping on a table. Other than that, the hotel is walking distance from restaurants and shops. Kids loved the cabin feel and decor throughout the place, the pool was heated and theres an arcade too. Tried the restaurant for breakfast and lunch and the food was good. I would stay again but would ask and hope for a room with better mattresses.

Older hotel but decent size rooms and great location

The hotel needs to be renovated. The front desk clerks were not helpful and did not show any interest in their jobs. The game room is a complete rip off. The restaurant was less than par. This was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. STAY AWAY and rent a cabin instead..

We were pleased with the room size and fireplace; but, dissatisfied with the price when we were not afforded maid service or even a bag for dirty laundry.

You get what you pay for. Nice location near the village.
